  1. You don't celebrate like a birthday. The first event counts as 1 and the 92 event counts as 2 and so on and so forth. So it's the 25th.

Ah, cause I know the park is currently celebrating their 25 years and they opened in 1990, and it's odd that they celebrate hhn as 25 years also despite opening a year later in '91.

It's just odd is all. I didn't even think about it until I saw the merch. But I guess that makes sense.

  2.

That looks amazing!  The one complaint I have is that they are using the same Jack mask from years past for his maze appearances with an updated paint job. A bit nitpicky, but I would've liked a brand new sculpt. But, hey, anything's better than the front gate Jack in 07.

This is a screen grab of the mask I am referring to:

Well since this house is a 25 years of HHN blast from the past anniversary house. Using a mask from past years is to be expected right? I find it a cool thing to learn about. I'd rather have some old/new rather than all 100% new. Especially in an anniversary house.

  3. I like it on the fact he doesn't give away super duper top secret spoilers but it's still informative and enthusiastic, but he's informative in a way that doesn't just regurgitate the news articles in video form that states the same things over and over but doesn't spoil things with "new" information and provides a little bit of history about each topic.

  4. Except I used to have this button but it changed a while back to say "Buy Express" and takes me right to the express page. No longer does that big calendar appear. Thankfully I studied it before it disappeared on my so I know the event runs from 6:30-1am three nights I am there and 6:30-2am two nights I am there.

I still think it is a horrible design not to include an "Event Hours" section.

How odd, it stills shows it for me (wouldn't have remembered it otherwise)

Why isn't it consistent, that just makes it harder/confusing. It was already confusing enough like you said, to not have a specific link to the hours.

  5. Sorry if anyone else has asked (I didnt see it) or if I am just being ignorant, but I know it starts at 6:30 does nayone know where it states the closing nights? I even searched my tickets and its not stated there.

    Thanks Yall!

You can go to the main website. Under the top menu bar there's a button on the right that says "buy tickets" with a calendar picture. Click that and it'll take you to the calendar and you can select the dates on the calendar and it'll automatically display the times the park opens and closes for the night.

  6. Sorta kinda off topic but does anybody know if during non-HHN nights (like on Monday's) do they put on the night time show on the water with fireworks?

Doesn't look like it. I looked and the last date you can book the firework dinner plan is the 15th right before the event starts and then no more until november. Though this isn't a surefire way to tell though. There'll probably be too many props out when the event goes full swing and they'll have to worry about fallout catching a prop on fire.

Though wondering about if there were fireworks or not previous years wasn't at the top of my agenda so I don't recall anything about them.

And express isn't valid for Gringots nor Forbidden Journey regardless.

  7. Eh, it's not Disney where there's only ONE Mickey Mouse.

Well, there IS only one of each character.. But the point is to scare you, not make sure they only have one character out for continuity. Besides most houses and streets take place in different times/locations. So as far as I'm concerned when I'm traveling through Shadybrook, Insidious doesn't exist anymore. and vice versa.

  8. Also; I used to be a film major and my best friend used to be an advertising and design major.

Commercials and Advertising are generally the works of both marketing and creative collaboration. So marketing probably said "We would like/require x, y, and z in the commercial" And then creative or whichever team does storyboarding probably wrote a script and got it approved my marketing and went out to film it with their creativity working with the parameters marketing bet would draw in the most revenue.

It was probably a collaboration between both parties because that's generally how commercials are made. Not every advertising major had a major in cinematography and creative writing. But they can tell you what they want and the business strategy behind their wants. And not every film major knows what would be the best selling point of the event in terms of generating sales.

I would say whichever teams were involved. They pulled it off extremely well. They catered to both diehard fans and mainstream casuals of the event fairly. Screen time was well balanced, the mood was well set, they did include their money maker but as long as it makes money and draws in the crows I guess.

  9. It looks like a typical buffet menu to me (in fact, I think it is basically the menu at 1900 Park Faire).  What exactly were you expecting?

Anything. It's basically different variations of roast meats and one pasta dish offered. Little variety so unless you are really in love with roasted meats... For a side you get two versions of potato, one which is, surprise; roasted. and the rest are veggies basically. Again, not much variety. Cornbread? Mac n Cheese? Something? Then we get to desserts, you have two cheesecakes, peach cobbler, bread pudding and chocolate cake. Desserts probably is the most variety despite having two cheesecakes offered. No pumpkin pie? I just expected more of a variety of options for the price, fall staples for theming and things of that nature.

I'm sure it's great for some people but it's not really for me with the slim offerings which consist of mostly potatoes and roasted meats.

  10. This meal thing is only the first 2 weeks, right?  If not, my friends and I would (literally) eat it up and sign up in heart beat.  The food isn't high end cuisine by any stretch, but it sure beats most of the cafeteria food in Universal.  And for the photo ops with the scareactors alone, it would be well worth it.

It's $50 per person (not including admission) and only looks to be a 4 day thing in September.

  11. I adore the idea of the scareactors. I imagine them putting the big name people up instead of just ol joe they hired last month so it'd be very entertaining.

But there's only 5 choices each outside of side dishes that have 6 (woo two choices of potato).. The menu just looks like the free "all you can eat" buffet I saw at a timeshare party. Limited choices because it's "free" But this costs so much money. I wouldn't be lying when I expected a little more. :( At least it's a little more upper class than Nathans hotdogs and fries though.

This is why I bypass first year things.

  12. I really think it's misinformed or misunderstood by the reporter. Sounds like they got an IN with a scareactor but the information is misleading.

They are two different things. It's probably just an afterthought. Something like "You can ride the Hogwarts express and experience a raptor on the loose". Obviously there's no raptors coming after you on the Hogwarts express but simply just talking about what one could experience at Islands Of Adventure. Bad reporting is all. Though Raptor chasing a magical train would be cool.

  13. The commercial was good. I'm sad the walkers were chosen but what did we expect. In the end Jack implies he just released everyone by pulling the other two levers.

The tune really hits it home brings the whole thing together and the whole setup is just so.. ah. Even at the end when they bring up the logo and play the rock version of the jack in the box song..

    Ahh. Music to my ears.

  14. I feel this (RUN) may technically be something like that. Based on the fact we already have a Canadian Maple Leaf in concept art and now our ?Kabuki? type person, as well as that gas mask labeled "Andre", I'm guessing each Reaper is based around a different culture / country.

I could really get behind this if it's true.

The more that they release the more jealous I get that I won't be able to see any of it outside of here.... This is probably going to be a house people may go in just because and really be blown away.

  15. One of the things that stood out was the Asian influence, It definitely increased my respect for this house and I wish I could see what they do with it.

Wishful thinking but putting it down before I forget. A great theme would be urban legends from around the world. They could have all sorts of things. I'd love an "Around the world" house/theme.

  16. Someone definitely loves Madness Returns. I know I do. And scream punk is right outside? Most definitely. I'm really bummed I won't get to see it all! I do need to play the game again though.. It was such a beautiful and twisted game.

Although I am curious on how it'd turn out if one day in the future instead of a house they did 4D with a movie type thing using the actual theaters. But who knows how much that'll cost in CGI.
