  1. Think Carnival Graveyard from last year where you saw the same scene from multiple angles
  2. In Hollywood, it was firmly in the original column for me (but so were the Drac and Frank houses in Orlando in 2009) I wasn't feeling Poltergeist when it was announced. At all. Those feelings could have not been more misplaced... Ghostbusters? Bring it on, Orlando team. Murdy, you can pass on this one; don't even try.
  3. It's in the middle of the lagoon. Should cut down on crowds by the middle of every night.
  4. Just got confirmation from Murdy: Slash music will NOT be at Orlando UM
  5. I'm not convinced it will be a big draw for Orlando based on the property alone. In Hollywood, it had a nothing facade, and it was in a location that is regarded as the worst venue in the park - one that tends to draw crowds of only people entering and exiting the park, subject to long narrow halls. However, later in the event, it consistently had good lines. I feel it was a huge standout because it specifically avoided the repetitive black box scares and had an absence of black hallways - even if it meant just throwing up some wallpaper, they had no black halls. Murdy cut no corners with this house. It was old-school good. The rest of the houses got what has become the new normal for Hollywood. In Orlando, this house would have been on par with, say, Slaughter Sinema (which was still a great house). It wasn't as detailed as a Carnival Graveyard or a Trick R Treat. Wasn't as intense as a Poltergeist. Wasn't as grand as a Scary Tales. So when you take the best house on the worst street and place it on Rodeo Drive, it tends to get lost. But I think it has the potential to become a sleeper like Seeds of Extinction.
  6. I agree that Slash is not looking hopeful for Orlando (although I bet he'd love to have it used). It wasn't just one tune; it varied throughout based on the monster, so it would be very easy to adapt. Another thing that made Hollywood's so successful was emptying into a scarezone themed to the house - that had its own Slash music carrying into it.
  7. Don't know how to post the media, but don't count out the 80's theme returning! Got an Email from HHN Orlando saying that: They're on the hunt They're after you They're hungry like the wolf <-- Okay, I made this one up, but it was in regard to Uni Monsters, which will feature Wolfman
  8. You make it through the weekend, Mystique? I think we all got off rather lightly; at one point I was muttering "That's it. Everyone is dead..." Helluva a terrific ride! They should never schedule HHN house announcements following GoT Sunday... On the bright side, HHN just announced The Battle of Winterfell house!
  9. Very cool. Hoping Hollywood continues to focus on their modern form of Frankie. Also hoping Slash returns with a soundtrack. Honestly, it was the modern, visceral takes on the monsters along with the Slash music that did it for me (and the lack of empty black hallways and strobe scares in that house). Would you like to have Slash's soundtrack in the Orlando version?
  10. Welcome to HNN! If you are staying onsite, you can get your event tickets in the hotel but even better - there is a special entrance for hotel guests to the right of the main entrance. Just show your room key. On Horror Nights evenings it can save you a good 30 min.
  11. I had the same Q, so went searching another forum. My summary is probably not fully accurate. Ifrit clue suggested announcement yesterday or today. A bet over Butterbeer was made as to the announcement: Creepshow vs HOTC vs Classic Monsters. Creepshow was seen as a strong rumor for this year - possibly even started build. (King Creepshow vs TV series Creepshow was still being volleyed about.) Then someone suggested that it was Creepshow, and that it had been "Screamed" (or "Conjoured" if you prefer), which was in line from a recent Murdy tweet where he said he was thrown a curveball. Announcement was not made. (Evidently, something is happening with Marvel this weekend, so announcements are now expected in May.) Someone concluded that Creepshow was now off the table; Legacy said whoa there, Nelly! (as he did here). Did I sum that up about right, Legacy?
  12. Man, I remember the final season where they killed of a major character nearly every episode. That was groundbreaking. I remember thinking "Nope! No spin offs here!"
  13. Okay, Mystique, GoT question here... I've not read the books. Have watched the whole series and, man, this season is off the charts. Has the show sufficiently diverged from the books such that no one really knows who will live or die? Does the show have a "Daryl" type character who never appeared or was a minor character in the books yet is a primary character in the show?
  14. The forum is up. Ah, sweet rumors once again flowing into my veins.
  15. Not about to rank every HHN house I've been to, but the top and bottom that I can think of - at this moment in time - are (in order): Top 10 houses: 1. Poltergeist 2. Gothic 3. HR Bloodengutz 4. Cabin in the Woods 5. Scarecrow: The Reaping 6. The In-Between 7. American Werewolf (2013) 8. Saws & Steam 9. Psychoscareapy: Home for the Holidays 10. 25 Years of Monsters & Mayhem Bottom 5 houses (worst to least worst): 1. Blumhouse (any year) 2. Disorientorium 3. The Spawning 4. Afterlife: Death's Vengeance 5. Lunatic's Playground Top 3 scarezones: 1. Psychoscareapy: Unleashed 2. Deadtropolis: Zombie Siege 3. Vamp '85 Bottom 3 scarezones (worst to least worst): 1. Most everything in Plaza of the Stars (except for Path of the Wicked) 2. Nightmaze 3. Canyon of Dark Souls Favorite Icons: 1. Chance 2. Jack 3. Director 4. Caretaker 5. Bloody Mary 6. Usher 7. 16. So I saw The Nun yesterday, and while I had difficulty staying awake until the end, the visuals had HHN written all over them. I don't watch movies thinking how they would translate into a house, but all the jump scares screamed HHN to me for some reason (the paper thin plot sure didn't help to keep my mind from wandering). Not a great movie by any means, but it did so well at the box office, the GP would eat it up.
  17. Knott's Tooth Fairy Here is a high quality video, but a so-so cast. Note the unique Stuff in Face - hanging strings with teeth tied to them. The house began in a child's room (@0:48), where an actor was repeatedly abducted by the TF minions. It transitioned to the TF lair, where she performs her extractions, with all the dental drill sounds that terrified us as kids. Aside from lots of cages with kids in them (@2:28), the Tooth Fairy's lair had walls covered with letters that kids had written to the Tooth Fairy (@2:16) along with fliers for missing children. Creep factor 10. And if anyone recalls the Saws and Steam hallway with the small animated crushers - repeatedly squeezing the last bit of fluid from chunks of human meat - TF had a hallway with animated skulls opening and slamming their jaws shut (@2:50). It was a seriously messed up house. Check out @4:21. And although this video doesn't show it, the finale room was a effect of the TF flying out from a wall above you. The video doesn't capture the facade very well, but it was made to look like a house. Through the windows in front you could peer into a little girl's bedroom. It was a looping video of her playing, then getting sleepy and crawling into bed, then waking and going to play. The little girl is the daughter of a Knott's Show Director. Here's another video (with a much better cast) that catches things missed in the first one The facade (@0:15) Piles of stolen money from under pillows, Dear Tooth Fairy letters, and Missing children reports (@3:18) Bloody mouth video (@6:25) Finale room scare (@7:44) One thing you can't help but notice is Knott's propensity to use big goofy masks that don't really fit the theme.
  18. This is the first time I can ever remember reading a supposed leaked list that I'd actually like to see in full at HHN. This means it is most definitely inaccurate.
  19. Sorry, but that is folklore. Universal didn't have a survey sitting on the shelf saying "Here's what we are planning for HHN this year. What do you think?" What likely happened is that a real survey was sent listing MANY IP and asking if people had heard of it and if they found it scary. This exact sort of survey has happened several times before, right around this time of year. In fact whoever originated the story might have been referencing an old survey. I have taken HHN surveys more than once with most of those IPs listed. The IP list would contain a vast array of IP, most of which they never planned to bring to HHN or knew it would not be contractually possible. Rather they are (in my opinion) taking the pulse of the community as to what is still relevant and desired.
  20. Weird. My source told me the list was: Walking Dead Season 1 Walking Dead Season 2 Walking Dead Season 3 Walking Dead Season 4 Walking Dead Season 5 Walking Dead Season 6 Walking Dead Season 7 Walking Dead Season 8 Walking Dead Season 9 The Hotwives of Orlando I really need a new source...
