  1. They are called ChromaDepth glasses. A variation of the glasses for fireworks. You don't return them they are paper. I have a at least one pair from every 3D house we've had. Well... Until they were all the exact same anyway.

If you want, I have about 30 of the plain black pair (I don't know why) I'll send them to ya ROFL

Lol. I have a box of glasses and a box of maps just from the past few years. Stinks that we don't have unique glasses anymore. I love the clown o vision ones.

  2. Seriously though... Am I the only 1 who thinks this potential house lineup is not all that impressive?

Trust me. You aren't the only one who isn't pleased. It's a huge anniversary year but doesn't feel at all like an anniversary year. Big deal, we are getting some awesome IPs (TWD is debatable for most), but that's not what I want to see from an anniversary year.

Every year it seems like A&D has so much planned for original and truly creative content, but they get cut down instantly. As a kid, I always dreamed of one day being able to work on Horror Nights. At the time, I didn't know about "corporate powers" or "big business" influences. The admiration that I had for the event in my early years was built on original and creative concepts. Somewhere along the line, the event started a transition into a totally new creature.

I wish I could say things are like they have always been, but that's not the case. It's evident that the event has grown in popularity exponentially in the past 5 or so years and Universal has taken advantage of this by bringing big name IPs to the event. It's a very smart business move. You can't deny that. However, it's a real shame that A&D hasn't been able to continue some of the most important things that made the event successful in the first place. It's the 25th anniversary. I know we were all hoping on getting mainly original content and have that old Horror Nights feel, but sadly we haven't really gotten that in its true glory. I'm sure that they will do the originals justice, but there is only so much that can be done when money is the main focus.

I understand that things can't and won't be the way they used to be. Logistically, it would be hard with the huge masses of guests and other concerns. The past few years, a part of me has died. The part of me that is like a kid on Christmas waiting to open up all my presents (waiting to see what houses, zones, and shows will be revealed). I remember when there used to be so much hype and anticipation building each year. Now it's just deflated by leaks and craziness. Of course I'm still going to attend the event each year. How could I stop? I've been going for so long that if I did miss a year, I would hate myself later on for not going. I do still genuinely enjoy the event. Not as it was or what I want it to be, but as it is. I'm going to get off of my soapbox now ;)

  3. I would absolutely love queue videos for any throwback/sequel houses. HHN 21 was my first year so I got just a little taste of what an icon event is like (Lady Luck). If it wasn't for these forums/the internet I would have known nothing about Havoc prior to attending the 2013 event. I saw some of the queue video for that house but the sound was pretty low ( I was in the express line) so I am not sure if they explained the story behind the house/caught everyone up on the story so far.

If they don't do a queue video I think it would be cool to add an interactive or multimedia section of the official site showcasing some of the glorious past. Thoughts?

It would be cool to have more information on the website about original houses. Maybe something interactive and interesting that can grab guests eyes.

  4. I think it's absolutely necessary for them to bring back the queue videos this year, especially for anything past-HHN related, or sequels. They need to introduce the past to the new crowds that have been going since 22, 23, or 24, and don't have a clue about the icons, or nightengales, or the gentlemen, or any of those amazing HHN creations that have been left alone for years.

I think that we will have queue videos in some form next year. For those of you who didn't get a chance to attend last year's event during the last few weeks, there were queue videos being played on the side of the parade building. Hellgate, Vampyr, Blood N' Gutz, and the lantern where some of the things that could be seen in the videos. The most logical reasoning behind why they would added those videos at the end of the event is simply to combat the crowds and give people something to watch while waiting in long lines. However, why would they choose these houses, characters, and concepts? They could have easily displayed IPs from last year (TWD, Halloween, Etc.), but they choose their own original concepts. Maybe because it was easier and cheaper for them to throw together, but I think they choose these videos for a reason.

  5. I can see the Asylum in Wonderland house being in a soundstage. The sets for that house could be massive and would go great in a soundstage. Insidious and Scream would work great in tents

I wouldn't count on that. IPs will get first grabs on soundstages. Asylum would be in parade or a tent most likely.

  6. Afterlife was cheap and it looked cheap! Unless you knew what was going on the house made NO sense at all.

I personally love P&T over In Between but then again I'm a big fan of P&T.. You should have seen some of the effects from P&T that were changed at the last minute..

That Christmas light room was trippy!

I thoroughly enjoyed P&T. It wasn't supper scary but it was a lot of fun. It was MUCH easier to follow than both In-Between and Afterlife. I really loved how they utilized all the different GATs and other interactive elements. Not to mention, Penn and Teller's involvement in the creation of the house. As much as people hate on 2012, I will still stick up for P&T and the other houses.

  7. I could be wrong, but didn't they use a tobacco scent for that area? I suppose the burnt wood smell may have trumped it.

I think we got a special finale for that house because not only did we get the giant Wendigo creature rushing us, but the guy up above on the perch yelled down in a deep deep booming voice, "I'M THE WENDIGO SPIRIT, FUCK YOU!!!"

It sounded so ridiculous, we laughed our asses off for a good few minutes.

Most nights they did use the tobacco smell in that scene. I did notice that one or two times I went through the house it did seem a bit faint.

  8. True. I was very disappointed in the Dracula trailer after hearing that the film was probably going to become a house, and had extremely low expectations in the house until I went through it, to find a beautifully designed atmospheric house. I enjoyed it a lot. I have no doubt Crimson Peak has a lot more house possibilities than we can see as of now.

Here's the thing. You can't judge an IP solely off of a trailer. Dracula Untold is proof that A&D can make a house out if IPs that don't seem to have a whole lot to them. I see a small glimmer of potential in Crimson Peak and I defintely think that they could make an enjoyable house out of it.

  9. While I agree that the trailer alone doesn't seem to offer much house content, DU had even less. That didn't stop the powers that be from stinking up a soundstage with it. If Crimson Peak does show up this year, hopefully it will be head and shoulders above last years attempt at synergy.

You think that the house was bad? Last year's "attempt" at synergy actually went well. It wasn't the strongest house, but it definitly hung in there.

  10. Everyone hear me out.....

In ww2 Germany tryed to invade Russia. The invasion was halted by a huge blizzard, that blizzard with the help of the Russian forces stopped and pushed back the German war train.

Now let's say the allies forces covered up what really stoped the Germans and what made them run back to Germany. A force so strong and scary they covered it up for the general public.yes that's right the nightingales.

    Yippee! Great connection!

  11. As thndiznir said, it would be nice to see them have Lagoon shows, chainsaw drill team, etc. Honestly, I wouldn't have any issue with them using the same lagoon shows from 2012. Maybe even add one more that showcases some of their best content from the past 25 years. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the 2012 lagoon shows. They were quick but very cool, and they gave me something other to do than houses and zones.

Here's another thing. I truly think that they could have some bands come and perform. Possibly by the queues. I know that this could cause some issues with space, but it might be possible. Heck, try and bring in midnight syndicate to do some of their stuff.

  12. So... using your logic, when you go to a theme park like the Magic Kingdom (during it's busiest time of year) for example, you should be able to see every show, ride every ride, check out every store etc. in 1 visit order to not insult the guest? That is not realistic.

HHN is a rather large event that draws people from all over the country (even some other countries). The event only runs a short period of time. You have to expect lines at an event of this magnitude. For those planning on only going just 1 night, they should realize there is a chance they won't be able to see everything. Lines are a good thing. When those lines become short, it means they are not making enough money and we don't want that to happen.

Most quests who attend only one night are not too upset if they don't get to go through every house. Especially the 21-30 (or so) age group that has a hell of a time drinking "kool-aids" and being with large groups of friends. However this doesn't include everyone, so yes, it would be nice if everyone at least had the chance of seeing everything in one night. I'm not usually one to complain about prices, but we all know that for the casual guest, a $90 ticket is kind of a lot. If I spent that much to go on one night, I would expect to be able to do ALL that the event has to offer.

  13. No doubt about that. They would be stupid to not take advantage of the 25th anniversary as a huge marketing tool and hype it up big time from early on. Heck, they already have started. Right after the event with the super sneaky, almost impossible to spot, jack video, and then with their most recent videos. I'm just anxiously awaiting July-September when things really heat up. Muhahaha!

  14. I heard LT so I'm going to go off track for a minute. What if we were to get a house where you journey into the LT mansion. I think that this could be an awesome house. They could tie in a lot of characters and icons that we have been mentioning the past few weeks.

The red herrings of using the Hitchcock & Hellraiser quotes amongst basically telling us that there will be multiple Icons at the event & it may possibly span 2 parks are all that i've taken from it so far.

I definitly see what you're saying. Sure, we can assume that the direct quotes from Hitchcock and Hellraiser are referring to these properties coming to the event. However, Cassi has been known to give us seemingly obvious clues like these before. I don't really know what to make of this year's clues, but I do think that they are packed full of red herrings. I have some ideas of possibilities and I'm hopeful but also confused at this point.

  15. NO! NO! check it out:

DR WHO! Outside the box? Not a movie... a TV show. The box being a television. But also a Police box. Also another word for "friend" is "companion".Dr's sidekick always called a "companion". Not traditionally thought of as horror. Is not a new IP. AND Mike went over there last year.

    Boom! *mic drop* :P

That would be epic. So many different characters and environments that they could pull from. I'll take Doctor Who over TWD house any day.

  16. I'm wondering if Lady luck plays some part in this year's event.

I mean... I don't know why she would, it isn't like they used her properly the first time, but with Jimmy really only posting things that related to her in terms of other icons and the extended scenes of the set it really does seem like they're showing some love for hhn 21.

Showing some love for HHN 21 you say? Hmm... If only we get Blood N' Gutz and Nightingales...

  17. To be fair, they could make a comic book look in the house. That'd be pretty neat.

That sounds interesting. It would have to be executed perfectly though. It's something that could either be really good or really bad. Not to mention, it could potentially be poorly recieved by guests who are expecting an adaptation from the show. I do like the idea though.
