  1. "We’re all very much history buffs here. From South American, Asian and Egyptian cultures, we’ve created a world that mixes of a lot of different cultural mythologies. My favorite creature that guests will encounter is the Amut, which has the face of a crocodile with the mane and front paws of a lion."

Variety of creatures, claustrophobic feel with tight corridors, and the potential for some cool scenic/decor? Count me in! Probably my most anticipated original house.

  2. Excited to experience an original property that goes way back in Orlando's history! For any of you that experienced the original maze, what aspects of the maze are you looking forward to seeing get re-done?

My only concern is the look of the scareactors. Unless there are some really cool masks or prosthetics, I'm worried the actors will just have airbrushed faces that may look a little too cheesy.

  3. Even though we've seen the Purge a few times already, I'm actually really looking forward to this. A pulsed mega scarezone with more set pieces and places for the scare actors to hide is awesome. The election is a great topic the movie chose to cover,  and the few concept art pics released of the original characters we'll see look great. Lastly, having an overall theme throughout the park like this will be a nice change of pace.

  4. Wow, I can't believe it may be time to say goodbye to the mastermind behind my favorite Halloween event of all time. John, I truly hope you have one final year planned to be able to feature the classic monsters, The exorcist, and any other properties you've really wanted to do. If that's out of the realm of possibilities, I just want to say thank you for everything you've done.

It was 2005 when I decided to attempt going through Van Helsing as a 10 year old wimp. Well... I didn't make it all the way through. BUT, when House of Horrors opened in October of 2006, my best friend and I decided to give it a shot. Not only did House of Horrors become one of my favorite attractions ever, it's what made me decide to go to HHN the following year. We would go through HOH at least 6 or 7 times each week since we were annual pass holders. You sparked my interest in classic monsters, haunt design, and HHN. So thank you for that.

In September of 2007, I saw advertisements throughout the park with Freddy, Jason, Leatherface and a clown known as Jack. My best friend and I knew we had to go. I was so nervous that I'd be too scared, but obviously... I loved it. Now I consider myself an avid fan for the past 9 years, and will continue to go every year until the day I die.

Walking through Camp Crystal Lake and seeing my favorite horror icon in person was an incredible, and terrifying experience that I'll never forget. Seeing Freddy's dream realm and all of the inventive kills throughout that maze was also so damn cool. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a whole different beast. My god, I almost died in that maze. Back then, the pulsing of the lines was done much better because of the lower attendance, so I remember my best friend and I being the only ones in that maze. We actually sprinted through the last half of the maze!

Every single year after that, you've managed to create an incredible, unforgettable event with mazes that no other event can compete with. I'd like to share a few notable memories or mazes I adore from each year I've attended. These are just a few notable reasons why you and Chris Williams are haunt gods.

2008 - You enhanced the 3 of the best mazes you've ever done. The Terror tram was just as good if not better, and I'll never forget my first time stepping foot onto the world famous backlot.

2009 - Halloween was beautiful, surreal, and downright terrifying. Having Saw be the themed IP of the event that year was also very cool. I remember hearing it's theme song playing at the entrance of the park and getting goosebumps.

2010 - Oh boy, what a divisive year. Everyone, myself included were complaining about repeats. WELL, you proved us wrong. Not only did you elevate the detail of the mazes, you somehow made them scarier. We also got our first taste at a 3D maze and I remember being so impressed with how well done House of 1000 Corpses was. The double scare near the end of the maze in the cave section made me drop to the ground! No other maze or event has done that since. This is why you and Chris Williams are the masters of horror.

2011 - I remember thinking the line up for 2011 seemed less exciting than previous years. There was no huge horror icon or anything of that nature. I also remember being angry Alice Cooper was getting his own maze. I never listened to his music but after experiencing Welcome to my Nightmare, it was hands down my favorite maze of the year and I actually gave his music a chance and ended up loving it. You also took the next step and made some amazing creature effects in The Thing. La Llorona's facade was also a sight to behold.

2012 - While La Llorona wasn't necessarily scary in 2011, it was creepy. Well, you took what you learned from The Thing, and created some really demented puppets that definitely turned up the scare factor in La Llorona. I also had the honor of being a scareactor for the first time in The Walking Dead: Dead Inside and I had a blast.

2013 - Insidious: Into the Further is one of my favorite mazes of all time. For your first paranormal maze, you knocked it out of the park. Bravo!

2014 - American Werewolf in London. WOW. One of my favorite horror movies, and you gave horror fans the opportunity to experience it in person perfectly. The puppets would make me run out of the room every single time. My girlfriend and I were also the first guests to walk through the maze on opening night, with no one in front of or behind us. One of my favorite experiences at HHN ever!

2015 - Once again, knocked it out of the park with Insidious. The final trio scare made me crouch down and cower into the corner of the room. Great use of projection effects, and ultimately a masterpiece.

Well, I've rambled long enough but I just wanted to say thank you for all of the experiences these past 10 years. This may not be your final year for sure, but you still deserve the recognition and praise.

  5. I mean it the last 2 years tickets would sell out  between the week before and the day before 2013 if you guys recall my review we try to buy some tickets for people who joined day of and we got to Universal at 9:00am and they sold out and after talking to the ticket manager (If that what the title is lol) and she sold us FOTL tickets that they save for special guests and the  now tickets don't sell out til and if they they do it's half way through the event. Not argueing and I'm saying that they are going bankrupt or anything lol just it kinda does say something as to what IDK.

Nah I totally get you and I know your not arguing or anything. Haha I think people who have gone previous years were probably put off by the huge lines and didn't know how to plan the night like most of us on the forums do. I can't imagine waiting more than an hour for a 3-4 minute experience.

  6. just curious then how come they are not selling out like before? Are there more tickets on sale than before?

I don't think they're selling more tickets (I don't remember exactly what the limit was last year) but this year has been pretty consistent. If hypothetically the limit was 24,000 per night, we may not be selling out but it'd be 23,000 or so guests that night. So I guess it isn't a consistent 4 nights in a row sold out, but sales are strong and almost hitting the limit. So there may be a slight decline, but it's not significant.

  7. Well once again I think both those things are going to happen, even murdy having one more year. But I didn't think they were gonna happen because someone told me they have inside information. I've had those ideas for weeks. To me it's just more speculation as I still think nothing is a lock.

Btw, does anyone think the reason we didn't get FvJ this year is because they "had" to bring back AvP. Anyone who went through the Orlando house knows it needs to be in a soundstage to work properly

I think it was John just letting Orlando have it first because it was their big anniversary year. He knew regardless of when it came to Hollywood, it would do well ratings wise.  Plus, they already have two Freddy vs Jason shirts, some towels, mug holders, etc ready so that would save money in terms of designing the merch for that property just like Halloween and AWIL.

  8. My least liked houses were Run, Asylum and Purge. But these last week all 3 houses have been very intense and the scares have been more closer (actors coming out more often) feels like they got better.

I know it is kicking a dead horse but walking dead is still just as disappointing as the very first day. you  see improvement on every house except WD. And It is obvious this is not the actors' fault but it is probably coming from AMC. I did WD today and i just found it funny that you can really notice the improvement on all the other houses  because of WD's stagnation lol. I know the actors are doing what they are told, Don't meant to be so negative... but omg.

Is it a for sure thing that scare actors in TWD are told to remain slower to stay faithful to the show's zombies? I was in TWD (2012 in Hollywood) and we were able to come out as fast as possible as long as we still maneuvered like a zombie. May not have been 100% faithful to the show's slow moving zombies, but scares come first IMO.

  9. Good review! Glad to see you had a blast and it's cool to see a KSF fan switch over. I went this year and finally decided I'll be taking a few years off since it Knotts was so sub par this year. I'm also glad to read you liked the terror tram. My first experience on it in 2007 was phenomenal so I guess regardless of the theme, first year visits make that attraction really exciting.

  10. I disagree with the statement "more IPs = more attendees".  TWD is the most watched show on television. Now that TWD fans have experienced HHN, they're hooked. Doesn't matter if TWD returns. People who attended for TWD spread the word about the event and now more people want the experience. The IPs aren't creating the stir; it's how well the event is executed. If all the IPs sucked, the general consensus would be "don't go to HHN, it's nothing like the source material".

Also, I'm not trying to rehash the IP argument.  All I'm saying is it's gotta let up at some point. Otherwise, the quality of the source content will suffer and the event will get a bad reputation. This year almost feels like the start of that trend with 1 IP a repeat, 1 IP pretty good, 1 IP not so good, and 1 IP god awful.

I think a more accurate statement would be "Popular IPs = More Attendees." I think 2 solid IPs is all the event needs. Having an iconic slasher and a popular, new IP like Insidious would draw in people who have never been to the event. But I'm a huge fan of IP's so I'm happy with a 50/50 split or even 5 IPs and 4 originals.

  11. There was an awesome late scare added that I saw last night which wasn't there Sunday night. Totally caught us by surprise. It's a good addition.

I'm so jealous they added it after we already flew back home! That would've been such a great, unexpected scare - especially since it was a trigger activated scare completely outside of the maze.

  12. So here's the coin I found in M&M (Goldie Locks Bear Scene - on the dining table inside one of the cups, on October 2nd or 3rd, I don't remember for sure).

Does anyone know where these coins originally came from or if they sold them at the park back in the day?

  13. are you referencing the problem people had in the facebook group with this? Lol

What problem ? :0 Im totally lost right now. Lol

Just got out of run. I found the chainsaw and patted it down some, I could not find a button on it to push. Also I found this coin in the first room next to the acid manikin. The coin looked out of place and I thought would be glued down, but nope. Neat thing to find.

I wasn't sure if I should post anything about this but since you did, I found one too! I figured since it wasn't glued down it'd be okay to take. Once I get home I'll import the photo and post it. I found it in M&M on the 2nd of October (I think), in a cup on the table of the Goldie Locks Bear scene.

  14. Can anyone elaborate why the order of the house was how it was? Why did we jump right into the conjuring/seance scene? Why were there no twin girls appearing? Why was the lady in black's makeup so terrible? Why didn't we see her in the facade, outside a kitchen window following like the intro of Insidios 1, etc?
