  1. That way, all the movie properties are on the TT with the Icon taking over the festivities, with whatever being the icon also having a scarezone and a maze of their own. It just makes the event feel more full instead of making the TT a separate attraction of its own because the last 2 years they've tried that, it's failed miserably.

Ohhhhh okay I agree with you on that then haha I thought you wanted Murdy to try and connect the icon with everything, misunderstanding xD

Wonder if the next maze announcement is coming soon ? :o

  2. I miss when the event in fact DID have icons though instead of marketing ones. And when the event had THEMES. What's HHNH coming to these days? I know it was only a few years ago and they weren't that many years in succession, but I daresay 06 - 09 were the "glory days" in that department. Icons and themes, clearly put out. The Director, Jack, Freddy and Jigsaw. WHY CAN'T WE GO BACK TO THAT?!?!?!!

Freddy was the most successful icon in a way that told a story with the Nightmare Tram and how he brought all the characters to HHN but besides that the icons didn't really bring anything special to the event. I wish they used the Director again and actually tied a story with the attractions but that's hard to do and would limit the range of what we saw to make it a realistic and cohesive story. I like variety and although we do only have marketing icons now, I think its fun to go from maze to maze experiencing something totally different theme-wise. Going back to having one icon would be a nice change since we haven't seen that since 09' but then again looking back at those years, the icons didn't really enhance the maze experiences (maybe the Terror Tram's experience but thats about it.) *Just my opinion, please don't kill me =) * Lol

That is no laughing matter........ just found this on Variety:

Fresh off the announcement that Lady Gaga's new album will be released this October and will be starring in 2013's "Machete Kills," theme park Universal Studios Hollywood has an announcement of their own. For 2012's annual Halloween Horror Nights, the multi-platinum recording artist will have a haunted attraction titled, "Lady Gaga: Monster." From her own imagination, this "maze" will feature the unique imagery and concepts that only Lady Gaga can deliver. Often known for her elaborate concert pieces and outlandish wardrobes, this promises to be a frightening Halloween experience like no other.

"Lady Gaga is this new generation's major showmen," creator director John Murdy explains, "and to have her paired up on the same bill with the original showmen, Alice Cooper, at Halloween Horror Nights is something I'm proud of." Just last week, Alice Cooper's own haunted attraction, "Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D" was announced. "I want to show our fans that horror doesn't just relate to major movies," Murdy continues, "but there's also many seeds of horror within the music industry that we wish to provide in haunted maze attractions for the foreseeable future."

"I'm really excited to scare the hell out of people," Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, said in a statement. "There's been some crazy things going on in my head that I can't put into music so this will be a chance to put it out there and share the nightmares," she said with a sly grin. "Horror remixes" of her most popular music will be incorporated into the maze to terrify "all the senses." Murdy then finishes it off with, "this maze is going to be hardcore and it will surprise people from the sights to the sounds to even the smells, this is going to be really trippy and it'll be fun to watch people come out of this maze screaming."

The 2012 Halloween Horror Nights season begins Friday, September 21st and continues through the weekend and other selected nights until it's completion on Wednesday, October 31. Other frightening attractions include, so far, "The Walking Dead: No Survivors," based on the hit AMC TV show, "The Walking Dead;" "Welcome to Silent Hill" based on the video game franchise "Silent Hill" which also has a film hitting theaters this fall titled "Silent Hill: Revelation" in 3D; and the aforementioned "Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D" based off the many works of Alice Cooper. 2 other "mazes" are yet to be announced, as well as 4 "scarezones" and the staple attraction, the "Terror Tram."

Universal Studios Hollywood’s favorite thrill-ride attractions will also remain open for the nocturnal affair, many with menacing twists. Favorites include the new "Transformers® - The Ride 3D," “The Simpsons Ride®,” “Revenge of the MummySM – The Ride” and “Jurassic Park® In the Dark.”

THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!?!?!?!

  3. I'll be honest, I'm not looking too forward to this year. I feel like we are turning into HHN Hollywood. I'm not trying to be rude when i say that, but i feel like Orlando has always done great coming up with original house ideas and themes. That is what makes me so excited to go every year. In the past, i would have been checking the site everyday but this year, it is completely different. this year, we already have three houses based on other things, all of which i am still skeptical about. the website is not even themed so far and it is already late July. i really hope there is an amazing central theme that ties all these things together. we now have a "horror rock" house, a "TV series" house, and a "video game" house...

I think Comcast just realized that HHN Hollywood was attracting a lot of guest due to movie based properties and therefore would make Universal a lot more money as a whole if Orlando followed the footsteps when it came down to mazes being based off of movies and not being original themes.

  4. You are actually quite wrong about that.

Well, half wrong. You ARE right that at Knott's open hire is spots that the rehires don't want or didn't fill. Knott's is first come first serve, both at rehire and open hire. First person in line who passes the interview gets to pick a spot, and so on and so on until the people who didn't line up at 9 pm the night before are stuck with Black Out or Line Control spots.

Universal is a strict audition, and while the casting director does give preference towards rehires (since they're performance is a known quantity,) NO spots are filled until after both rehire AND open call audition.

Knott's does have more slots to fill, but they also have about 80 percent of them filled before you even walk through the door.

My advice, if you don't have a strong preference towards working one or the other would to be to audition for HHN AND attend Knott's open hire and see what you get where.

So Trevler, after submitting the online application, the email said "this does not mean you have been hired yet." They said a casting director would contact us to go in for paper work if we were chosen... Is there a big chance of being contacted or do they just select a lot of people just in case rehires don't show up or what? :o When do they usually let us know we got the position for sure?

  5. I copied the more definitive answers (I know Hauntfan wanted ALL of them but I had begun copying down just these before I read that). There were a few where Murdy said "yes" as a way of answering a question that couldn't be answered in simple Magic 8 Ball form so I didn't bother copying those. Murdy was answering on average 3 questions per minute until around 2:45 he started slowing down and then at 2:50, practically stopped completely.

[Ahhhh someone should ask about Freakz getting their own maze now!]

I actually did Tweet a question pertaining to the Freakz but he never answered it -_____- Lol

  6. Lol I guess I just found all the parts that were meant to be scary very cheesy. Not saying the movie was horrible (the ending was creative), and yeah I agree Radcliff is a good actor (I just like referring to him as Harry Potter :P ) but in general it didn't scare me.

But since a maze with mainly all female scare actors was made last year, I can't rule out TWIB :0 lol

  7. ........Wait.......Has anybody brought up the fact that those all match "The Woman in Black" ? Just sayin. That would be a freaking EPIC maze.

You thought "The Woman in Black" was scary ? :o

I personally thought it was a typical 'haunted house' horror movie with Harry Potter in it and a not very scary looking spirit. ><

  8. They always change up what they do every year, so I'll have a better idea after Reunion auditions next week, but the big things they look for are: Energy! Lack of Inhibition! Ability to follow directions!

Generally though, they bring you in with a group of ten or twenty, then play a minute or two of scary music, during which they want you to run around acting scary. After that, they call on people one at a time and might ask you why you want to do this, and then they'll have you scream or do some other sort of performance.

It really doesn't matter -what- they ask you to do though, as long as you remember Energy! Lack of Inhibition! Ability to follow directions!

Another bit of advice though, if you're male and under 6 foot, try extra hard. If you're 6 foot or taller, you're made in the shade.

Awesome thanks for the advice man !

So being 6'2 will help me out a bit ? :o

  9. If you have any questions about the audition process, feel free to toss 'em out here. We'll try and answer what we can.

Hey Trevler ! Super excited and nervous to audition since I'm finally turning 18 in a few days.

Can you please explain what is usually asked during auditions? What do we do, etc... Id be devastated if I didn't become a scare actor for HHN so just trying to get as much info on what is done during auditions, advice, etc.. Any info would be appreciated, thanks !
