  1. I also thought that it would be a cool idea to make Cabin in the Woods an overarching theme; someone has previously suggested this, but I am NOT going to search through 50 pages to find it. If this is you, you may take the initial credit. I can imagine the website depicting a cabin in the middle of the night that invites us into its cellar to explore various odd, and seemingly very different, items. SPOILER ALERT - We can then pick up an item to investigate its meaning, which would then take us to one of the houses or scarezones at HHN. Meanwhile, we have summoned the specific creature that we fear from the Facility. The cabin or the Director (not Paolo) could represent our icon. Cabin in the Woods is a new-age horror movie that explains the meaning behind horror movies. There's even a sacrificial chamber that we can explore as part of LT. Now, the question is . . . is LT running the Facility - or are they investigating the odd occurences that are occuring at the cabin? The only thing holding me back from this idea is that CitW has its own house. That fact seems to complicate things and turns me away from this idea. But, regardless, it is a cool idea, at least in my opinion. Wait a minute . . . I didn't say to "stop helping" altogether. Oh, and Dr. Jimmy, there was a post made in the status page (I think) that was a conversation between the Lumberjack and Long Duk Dong, which pointed me towards HHN 16 (Sweet 16) since Chalres made a comment that this mysterious house is a combination of two houses from past years. If it wasn't your status, I'm sorry - but someone out there (maybe Legacy?) referenced this. I can't keep things straight anymore.
  2. ^This is the source of the confusion. JDW, we don't want anyone to spell it out as we thoroughly enjoy the puzzle game, but looking for hidden meanings and secret phrases in various posts from everyone in the know is indeed having too many cooks in the kitchen. No one change anything, but I hope this clarifies the confusion. I agree with justchristy, I think the latest clues about the prison house simply point towards a murderer who is in prison and is facing the death penalty. As he is being electricuted in the chair, we get a glimpse of his mind through a series of flashbacks that ultimately led him to the place he is today. The question I have is if it is inspired by someone or by a real event. I thought I made a connection, but it seems I was moving down the wrong path. Someone earlier mentioned Alice Cooper - this IS NOT what I'm suggesting - but, rather we would follow the path of this murderer just as we have with both Alice Cooper last year and with Norman Bates in 2006.
  3. I'm not saying now that it's like Jekyll and Hyde - that post was last night. This morning, I'm saying that Jekyll and Hyde and mother and son are not far off if you look at the concept of a mind being like a prison. *That is, unless I'm still wrong and it's not time to check out.
  4. Okay, so I think we now have the idea that the "prison" is simply someone's mind during a very traumatic event or time in his or her life. Now it makes sense, yesterday Dr. Jimmy made a post very loosely referencing the movie 16 Candles and I refreshed the houses from 2006 in my mind. I glanced through the list, but nothing checked out at the time. Now I see the incestuous connection. I wasn't too far off with Jekyll and Hyde after all. It's no different than a situation where a harmless species has evolved to imitate the warning signals of a harmful species directed at a common predator. Edit: Thanks, JDW, for confirming my new idea. (I was typing this post and I didn't notice your post above until afterwards.)
  5. I'm going with this one instead. We have been speculating on a Jekyll and Hyde house/theme/icon for years. *Staring you in the face as it were *Electrocution *Flashback *Dissect . . . just to name a few connections I've found. Could LT be investigating the mysteries behind Dr. Jekyll's research? Dr. Jekyll states "I bring the life of that unhappy Henry Jekyll to an end." With Jekyll's "disappearance" and Hyde facing execution, perhaps Edward Hyde is now in prison facing his sentence. Also, with everything seeming to be paired and connected this year, perhaps we will be viewing these events through the eyes of both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. (Icon anyone - hey, we can wish, can't we?) Besides, wasn't Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde the first horror movie by Universal in 1913, which started the 100 years of Universal - and the 100 years of horror? Mystique already played the six degrees of separation very well and this could play into effect here, too. LT investigates HAVOC due to tie-in with NJ (remember the bunker was in Cape May, NJ) HAVOC and the original prison house are . . . original The original prison house and The Walking Dead have prisons The Walking Dead, Resident Evil, and Evil Dead are about "zombies" Evil Dead and Cabin in the Woods have "zombies" and a cabin Cabin in the Woods and American Werewolf in London have creatures (a werewolf may stick out here) La Llorona tie-in? LT could be investigating both the military bunker in NJ (HAVOC) and the prison. Or, the prison is solely based on Jekyll and Hyde and LT is only involved with the HAVOC facility and its research. Maybe LT is an overarching "theme" like in 2008 and each house and scarezone will be investigated.
  6. You know . . . even Dr. Jimmy stated that HHN ideas sometimes start with the fans. You never know . . .
  7. As always, you are one devious man, Dr. Jimmy.
  8. I agree Dr. Jimmy . . . nothing is ever fully deciphered when it comes to the masterminds behind (and "working for") HHN. I, too, think that the "Eraser" clue was originally for AHS and scrapped for Evil Dead, which was expected from the beginning. I definitely think there is a connection between Goth Wackee NOT accepting any Maschorians and there being a prison house. There is clearly a link between the two and I'm sure this will get hashed out with time. But, why are Kerezans different? This was a direct statement referring to one particular legion. Hmm . . . I also think that the HU FB speculation regarding Dr. T(ee) as Dr. Thorncastle is spot on. I'm so glad to see LT making a return. Remember, though, Dr. Richard Steerington is of the Baccanoid bloodline - another tie in to the legions. And I've been saying for a while now, that Boris (another Baccanoid) should make a return so we can find out his fate. These facts, amongst others, point to a HU/LT relationship of some sort. Maybe we'll find out more tonight once Goth Wackee lands in NJ. . . . *Oh, and since everyone else is participating . . . Fact: A barnacle has the largest penis-to-body size ratio than any other animal on Earth. (My students love that fact.)
  9. I wish my job allowed for more time for me to speculate on all of the clues put out there by Dr. Jimmy and the Ifrit. By the time I check for an update (I try so hard to check on Tuesdays), everyone has already deciphered the clues. With that said, I am impressed with the interwoven clues and the connections made with the guesses. I, too, believe that everything is now out there and it seems to be a pretty good line-up. I, for one, am excited to see how these houses (should the list be legitimate), streets, icon (hopefully), and the LT/HU game tie together. A&D: we want total immersion again! And we are all hoping for GothWackee's safety as she travels. Regarding the original prison house - I REALLY hope that we get a return of Hellgate Prison. We fans have been asking for it to return for a long time now and it is still one of my top houses of all times. It would be cool to see how nine years following our initial visit has affected Warden Strickland and the inmates. Maybe we'll get a warden as an icon? He could control the prison and attempt to contain the fear of outbreak, zombies, and other paranormal activities (such as La Llorona's presence) within his inmates. Or . . . could he be creating FEAR from exposing his inmates to these thoughts and ideas? Wouldn't this concept also be a tie-in to A Cabin in the Woods? LT/HU could easily investigate said prison to determine the truth behind the walls. The Warden . . . I like the sound of it. Mystique and JW - thanks, as always, for the summaries. Now, we sit back and wait for permits and street information. HHN is only 4 months away!
  10. . . . and our very own Justin was in the background three times sporting his Horror Night Nightmares shirt! Pretty cool! On topic, I agree with others above. HHN is growing more and more each and every year, which requires hordes of scareactors (pun intended) to fill the roles. However, I feel that most scareactors perform their hardest every night; there will always be a few disappointments here and there, but the extreme diversity of talents overpowers those rare instances. I can understand how tiring the event is to work, which is why we fans fully appreciate the efforts put forth by our scareactors. I have been attending HHN since 2002 and have noticed many new effects and techniques applied in houses and on streets - A&D really does an amazing job at both creativity and plussing (yes, I took that from Disney) the event each year. The storylines and intertwining theming of the events is what I crave the most. After ten years of attending, like Jeramy said, you notice things more and become less scared - something some of us need to remember. However, I still am impressed with the detail of the event and I usually get many startle scares on each visit to the event. If you go with the mindset of "I'm not going to be scared," then you're just not going to get scared. I have a friend who flies down from NJ every year to attend the event and he has this mentality. I've only seen him get scared a few times since his first visit in 2004, and those were times when we convinced him to let his guard down. As Kathy stated, just "let the scare happen." Bottom line . . . A&D creates an amazing event every year that is more creative, more artistically impressive, and scarier than any other haunt I've been to. Furthermore, they hire a cast of scareactors that put their all out every night of the event to give the guests an amazing experience. Besides, what other event can claim such an amazing community of fans that live HHN all year long!?
  11. The games are gone and the Horror Unearthed page is now linked to a Legendary Truth page. What's even better . . . the wonderful music is there and brings back so many great memories. Can't wait to see what Universal A&D has in store for us.
  12. I finally received two different puzzle pieces in my e-mail from playing the Maschorian game - they are Baccanoid 11 and 12. One has the names "Professor James . . . oriarty" and "Richard Steerington" while the other has the names "Boris Shuster" and "Mary Agana" on them - very interesting. Maybe everything will tie together. What do I do with these puzzle pieces?
