  1. Interesting I had not heard anything about scrapping the DE house. I would imagine it would have to be another original idea at this point.

They are JUST starting construction on the 7th house. I have to guess (although it's hard to say) that it's too late in the game to get another IP. But who knows at this point. I wouldn't have thought starting the buiild 1 month before technical rehersals was feasible either.

It is late in the day to change a house but only if it was in fact a planned house in the first place. While I am of the opinion the IP houses on the leaked house list were genuine, I'm not all that convinced the original houses on the list were ever accurate. Although they were vague names/concepts they seemed to lack the same creative flair that we've become used to on the whole. I guess time will tell but isn't speculation fun lol?

  2. honestly carol annoys me as much if not more then lori... hoping to see darryl in the house

To be honest I don't think you are going to see any characters in the house. WE, the guests are taking the place of the characters as they do not have the rights to use them. Only the locations and setting.

  3. I wonder if the deteriorating projections can be used in close quarters. You hear the siren, the music changes, sounds, and the walls start to deteriorate. In the distance you can hear Pyramid Head dragging the giant knife across the floor. Maybe a room where the lights turn on and off, or noise...filled with nurses re-animating and becoming still, you have to walk through them.

    Oh a girl can dream

Damn Perse keep dreaming I like the sound of that. Maybe they should hire you on A&D lol. To be honest ive also wondered whether the projection system could be used in an enclosed space because to see the world changing around us would just be awesome. I'm really looking forward to this house and the possibilities....

  4. why Can't they use the characters? I know its been said but I don't think I've read the why on here

I got a feeling the answer to that question will come down to one word. Money. I'm guessing they want to be paid extra for the use of individual characters from the show rather than just the setting. To be honest the setting is no good without the characters though because without them it's just another generic zombie house. If this is the case AMC are making a mistake because this house will bring them more viewers. We haven't seen the house yet and I've already seen quite a few forum members say they've just started watching it for the first time in preparation for the house. It's a shame a damn Shane lol

  5. I have a feeling the first website update was supposed to be to confirm a house about The Walking Dead but due to there being problems over using the characters from it not yet being resolved they have been unable to do so. I think they planned to have done the update by now and this is probably the reason you didn't see an announcement about that house from the Walking Dead panel at Comic Con.

  6. I've been lurking lately and I've been observing the panic.Thankfully it seems the event was on track all along and people's fears are now at rest. Last year was my first year, so I'm excited to see what this year has to offer.7 houses, 4 stationary scarezones and 4 roaming scarezones would be amazing to me.

Oh it was Carnage! (do you see what I did there lol?). Nice to see you no longer lurking, you can post now, it's safe, well kinda lol. I was initially disappointed with dropping a house but with the increase in scarezones I don't think I'll notice it so much. Now I'm interested to see what the houses and scarezones actually are because after the surprise Universal have just pulled on us I've got little faith in the supposed leaked house list we've been discussing.

  7. No matter what you say, these people will remain on the floor in fetal position for the same redundant stuff we been reading in the past 100 pages. It's still funnt tho when there'a tagline "it's never toi late to start panicking" lol. Oh and we have the "corporate is cutting corners" crowd lol Awesome posts by the way bro.

I dint know how some people get away with spewing so much nonesense. Last i checked hhn has been closing later then in past years, plus they have added different frequent fear passes that acomodate everybody, and ohh here's the kicker, they have remained in the same price range. Go figure smh.

Wow for someone who has a grand total of 16 active posts on this forum you sure seem to think you know better than everyone else. Seeing as you are so good at reading others posts you may want to reread the ones by owner Mz and other experienced posters telling people to respect others on here even if you don't agree with them. Everyone has an opinion which they are allowed to express because last time I checked we still had something called free speech. We're all here because we love the same event so if you see a post you don't like just ignore it, much more productive than trying to put people down don't you think?

  8. After watching last years tweet up, I was crazy excited for this year when one of the members of A&D said this year is going to be his favorite year ever..... I wonder if this is still the case?

I saw the same thing and was mega excited about this year. Then all the rumours started and it went to hell. Seeing as I can't believe the A&D guy was referring to what were getting now I can only presume plans have changed drastically since the tweet up last September. My friends and I were convinced that last year was a test for some of the new technology used and that this year we would see those things incorporated in a bigger and better way. Now, I just don't know.

  9. I don't think I have ever seen and heard this much negative speculation towards HHN and this years event in my entire 15 years of attending Halloween Horror Nights. I can't wait until the event starts and proves all those wrong... ;)

Don't you get it? We want to be proved wrong that's what everyone is saying lol. This is not really about who's right and wrong it's about a community concerned about the unprecedented amount of negative rumours circulating this year. That's probably why there is so much negatively around. I just hope the saying "There's no smoke without fire" is wrong this time.

As for all our comments not having any effect on HHN I don't believe that at all. Sorry Legacy we'll have to agree to disagree on that point. I've heard a member of A&D say in the past that certain details were changed before the event started and during because of negative feedback from people. I've always believed a few can make a difference and I'm not giving up on that principle now.

  10. I have to ask everyone who is worried about the event:

How long have you been going to the event?

I've been going since 98, and I can't help but wonder if we would still have an event with all this worry and negativity.

My first year had 5 houses (Frightantic was dual run so I count it has 2 houses) and 1 official scarezone. There were no express passes. There was no icon. I fell in love with the event. I fell so in love with the event that I made sure I got married in October, so that I could spend my honeymoon at HHN and celebrate my anniversary there every year.

MOTB was a great scarezone, but it did not have the massive props we see now. Until the move to IOA, the zones didn't really have huge props. The zones were still good. The scareactors made the event not the props.

Since everyone keeps mentioning it, 07's problem was not the lack of themed zones but a lack in the number of street scareactors. Having been to the event with only 1 zone, but with a decent number of scareactors in other areas of the park, that's what hurt 07. Not enough street scareactors.

We don't know how many scareactors we are getting in the houses or on the streets, but there are three open auditions. I have to agree with Jimmy. Give the event a chance.

As for a comedic icon, I would like to point out the one icon who seems to be the most popular icon ever. Jack. Jack was dark humor, and has always been well received. People love him. I don't understand it, he's never been my cup of tea, but every year people ask to have him back.

If the P&T rumors is true, they won't have the in park presence that Jack did. It will be more like the pre icon era.

So as a community, we should watch, wait, and see. Maybe if everyone think of this year as HHN: Old School, it will help.

There is a big difference between growing each year and taking things away. One is a positive move the other is a negative. You can't miss what you never had but you can miss what you've become used to. The reduced house count and lack of an original icon will be big losses for me BUT I will reserve judgement until the event starts. This will be my 5th year in a row by the way and I travel all the way from England to experience it.

  11. Agreed that this is not what was expected, they knew how to create hype with the new era. By rules are you referring to business related rules or visionary event related rules?

Both to be honest. Comcast will have their own business practices which will not be the same as the previous owners. They will have their own way of doing things which might not be to everyones liking. Budgets, priorities and opinions will all change. Their vision of what horror night should be can change. From all the rumours I'm hearing I think we are seeing the evidence of just that.

  12. I understand what everyone is saying about the negativity but I can't bring myself to believe that Universal would drop the ball on a large event like HHN. Have we considered that there may be a lack of scarezones because they have spent the money on a much larger surprise for us? Especially if these P&T rumors are true...

This is not the Universal that you know and loved in the past. This is the new Universal owned by Comcast, which is what's worrying people. The rules have changed. Just bare that in mind. When they said a new era of darkness I bet nobody thought they meant this.

  13. Not to be Debbie downer but this is the most negativity I've ver seen about an hhn, I feel like at this point they need to blow our minds in order for this to be a decent event, I hope everything is wrong about the event or else my favorite event in the world is ruined lol, but in all seriousness there's a lot of negativity and it's getting me very nervous

    What he said lol

  14. I appreciate your concern, but whatever direction they go I'll be excited. Our only social media experience for HHN has been Legendary Truth so far though, so of course that is what is going to come to mind when Dr. Jimmy mentions social media.

Would you be more concerned if Dr Jimmy didn't mean a Lengendary Truth website but Facebook updates only? If not I envy you because I've never been so concerned about all the signs leading up to HHN in my life.

  15. While I agree that movie houses aren't something to completely flip out over, I have to mention that while some houses may "borrow" or "rip off" themes, scenes or characters from assorted movies, I don't think that makes them "movie houses". Everything has an inspiration. Just because you can trace it back to its source material doesn't mean the end product didn't add a lot of its own originality into the mix.

Body Collectors, as everyone knows, was based off a Buffy the Vampire episode. But it was incorporated into the Terra Cruentus storyline, and thus, we had a house whose background was entirely separate from the source material. Never having watched much Buffy myself, I'd still wager that most of the sets you saw in both the 2005 version and its 2008 sequel were unique from the show. So sure, a lot of houses borrow. But that's a lot different than say, Doomsday. Or Saw. Where everything -- the characters, the sets, the background, is all made to back up a movie.

Not that movie houses are necessarily bad. A lot of my all time favorites are movie houses. Rather, I think they're simply less interesting (especially during this time of the year).

I could not have put it better myself. I agree with every word you said and that is the point I was trying to make a few posts back. Half the time when someone says that house was based of this movie because of one room or scene it just makes smile. Most of the time for every similarity that is mentioned I could point out two or more differences. That hardly makes it a movie house. Now before I get accused of hating movie houses let me state clearly once and for all, that is not true. In fact my favourite house of all time, The Wolfman was a movie house. It's just that I and quite a few others like a mix of original and movie houses not all one or the other and that doesn't make us IP haters. I think my favourite ratio is 3 movie houses and 5 original but everyone's view on that will be different which is fine.

  16. Not to knock on your post because I agree, but for a while a lot of people were tearing down the movie house's and the point dr jimmy was trying to make was that even though it says it's an original idea it's usually not. And given his examples he's completely right. Everything in the park is relatable to some type of show or film, the body collectors and legendary truth are two prime examples of why we shouldn't cry about having movie houses, because we are getting movie houses they just aren't stamped with the same title as the film or show, it wouldn't surprise me to see that Victorian house be a mock up of American horror story

I agree with you to a degree but I understand the point Pirka is making. The thing is there are very few things these days that are truly original. If you are determined enough to find a link to something chances are you will find one. That doesn't mean that because somebody finds a tenuous link between a house and a movie/TV show that it had any real influence on it. I only have to mention all the posts last year with the Saws N Steam house and the game Bioshock to make this point clear. Let's just say some things have a direct correlation and others are a stretch at most lol.

  17. Whatever happens people just remember we're in this together. We're all fans and we all want a great event. We might not always agree on what we like or dislike but that's ok as long as we all stick together in the aim of supporting the event and doing our best to tell Universal what we like and dislike. Whether or not they listen is up to them but at least we'll have done our bit and at the end of the day that's all we can do.

  18. The building wasn't condemned. It was in use before the house was being built and it would have had to have been inspected prior to construction.

There have been whisperings that this was not a planned demo... At least not on A&D's side. From what I can gather (and mind you it's a matter of piecing things together) is that some kind of time sensitive deal popped up or some "blue sky" project got green lit with the SS 44 project and they had to jump on it.

Basically everything I heard was that it was a go for two parks early on. Then something must have happened to delay the 44 project which opened it back up to just the studios. Things moved along and something changed again to allow the 44 project to continue. Since they were early on in the house build... I'm assuming the executives made the decision to go forward with the 44 project. I really I don't think it is lack of communication between the departments but more so just timing involving deals on projects.

Now explained like that it makes perfect sense. Doesn't make me feel any better about the chaos surrounding this years build up but that's the best explanation I've heard so far.

  19. For me, I have the same view of one night HHN tickets as I do one day theme park passes. if you're buying them, you're doing it wrong.

And if I had to guess, Universal is looking at it the same way. The more nights you're in the park, the more you're eating, drinking, going to CityWalk, etc. So they make the Frequent/Rush passes look better and more reasonable in order to ensure you're coming back multiple times.

I definitely think the price for a one night ticket is ridiculous, but I get where they're coming from with it.

    A) There was no attacking. Cool your jets.

B )You seemed awfully "sky is falling" like with your "They don't care about quality and only profit mentality" as well as claiming they'll jump at the first opportunity to dumb it down if they can. I apologize for misreading your tone, but it was awfully bad to me.

Some friendly advice. Get off your high horse and read more carefully what Aaron, Legacy and myself are saying to you. They've been on this forum a long time. Aaron worked for Comcast, Legacy has worked for Universal at HHN. Their views as well as everyone else's on this forum are equally valid. Please remember you're not on your blog page now.
