Why the hell cant they just only not allow pictures in AHS(I'm assuming that AHS is the problem) but let it continue elsewhere?! I really wanted a picture of the entrance to Exorcist (I could just drive 30 minutes to the actual location, but it's not the same)

You can get pictures of the facade. But the only houses that have a facade you can get a decent picture of is the outside of Halloween and Exorcist

  2. I was on the combo tour today and that was the first thing anyone said. I'm tempted to call guest services or the tour line tomorrow just to see if I can get a refund cause I'm pretty upset. I'm pretty sure they'll say no, but like the entire time I kept reaching for my camera at a cool scene and then my brain remembered and it was like boooo. Ugh. Of course I'm more curious as to what happened for them to enforce that rule. Oh well. At least I got my money's worth at the actual event.

Yeah kinda, It acts as an express pass. But if the line is longer than 30 min then they write a time to come back... So if the line is 45 min and its 8:00, they will write down the time to come back at 8:45. So you still end up waiting the time, but not in the queue. What people normally do is Get a time for a house, and then go wait for another house and then when they are done they will just go back to the original house and use the express line. You can only get the cards at Guest Services but you need a good reason for it, like a medical reason.

But due to ADA rules, they can't require proof to get one. So you can pretty much give any reason why you can't stand in line, and get one.

No they shut down if there is rain. Safety all around. I haven't seen a fully operation scarezone in three years. Mostly due to rain. But it's all in when you hit them.

Few years back I was walking through Saws and steam and they have some water effects over head dripping a bit. Wasn't raining when I went in but, halfway through, I started thinking "ease up on the water effects" then I noticed all the scareactors disappeared. It was a torrential downpour.

Also, sometimes houses get shut down as well. I'm mostly thinking of Jaws queue because it flooded easily. But Chance's house is a big unknown location so who knows. I've never been in the MIB extended queue when it was raining. I did wait as the next person in line for the Saws and steam house for an hour when the sky opened up and the whole house flooded.

Guess I better waterproof my coat and bring an umbrella

One of the tents had to be closed due to flooding as well. The Poe house to be exact.

I don't know how it would be possible but I would really love the facade or first scene to be entering the snowglobe.

See, I'm the opposite. I'm hoping they can somehow translate the ending

where they realize they're in the snowglobe

. But either way is good. :)

All these years I have been going to Universal and I NEVER knew that was a physical building! I always just thought it was a facade to hide the Mummy building. Really excited to see this new store since I would assume they had an empty space to work with and design it from the ground up rather than being forced to work around the Twister gift shop.

I think it still is part of the Mummy. In the TM guide that was posted, they mention that the store is in the extended queue. So it's still kinda a facade.

EVERY night is a madhouse now.  Been going since 2004 and have been going in late Sept / early Oct since 06 or so after learning our lesson of how nuts it is closer to Halloween.  Used to be really dead on Thursdays with nothing over 30min, but now it's really as busy as Friday.  The only saving grace is that with people having to work and/or go to school on Friday, it seems to really clear out after 11ish.  If you're staying until 2am, you can do some serious houses from Midnight on.  One or two houses will still have significant lines (the ones that had 90+ minute lines early in the night so a lot of people avoided them until later) but others you're usually able to just repeatedly go through as fast as you can weave your way through the queues (usually the sound stage houses since everybody does them as soon as they get in the park).

Of course, that's over simplifying things.  Like you said, there are years we've gone when Thursday has been insane, Friday shockingly empty, Saturday so bad we've just walked around and done our favorite houses and then put in some quality time at Pat O'Briens, and then Sunday anywhere from dead to insane.  No real rhyme or reason, but from my experience going the same timeframe every year, I'd rate the days from least to most crowded:  Thur, Sun, Fri and then waaaaaaaay at the other side of the spectrum, Sat.

This is why I've gone from 4 nights to 2. Well that and getting CM tickets to the Disney Halloween party, and Club Villain being brought back. Yaaaaaas Disney Divas yaaaaaaaass

LOL I love 50's music and this SZ sounds like a fun idea. Really looking forward to it!

I've been trying to sleep with one eye open, but it's just so hard. ;)

Actually it was published and first recorded in '54, so it could.

So with everything revealed (basically) I guess that's really it for the site. Probably the least interesting site since 2001. It isn't even intuitive how to find the list of attractions.

    [rant]

There is a difference between saving money and being completely unhelpful.

    For example:

The Hollywood site has a big 'ole attractions button. This leads you to a drop down list where you can select the type of attraction you want to check out.

Orlando you have to click about+/ announcements and scroll between the various announcements. No real graphics, just some quick titles and buttons to read more. It's sad that I'm holding up the Hollywood site as a comparison.

Now check out the site I did for Dare2Escape if you are so inclined (shameless plug). It has a phone, desktop, and tablet version. It expands and contracts with breakpoints. The attractions are front and center and it leads you to the descriptions and videos for the attractions and that leads you further to the full descriptions. Plus there is a button at the top to take you directly to the rooms.

I'm not tooting my own horn as D2E told me what they wanted and I made it work on as many platforms as I could. But my point is this: I am just one guy with a small budget, working a full-time job, with a show and website that I also do on the side (second shameless plug), AND I built a more intuitive site.

They have people (or contractors) that it's their job to do this kind of thing no? Shouldn't the bottom line of a website be that it is a.) functional b.) easy to use and c.) enticing? It won't matter either way though I'm sure. This year will be gut busting on the crowds and profits with or without the website. So is it just their notoriety that allows them to get away with it? I guess.

    [\rant]

(side note: the smiley face is a strange choice for adding a link to text on here)

I mentioned this like a week or two ago. There's no way to find a list of the houses, except in the announcements tab, but who's gonna look there. And there's nothing about the scare zones, unless you count the original content announcement. The site this year is so lazy.

  11. The house shirt from 2011 is my absolute favorite one (and no blood font). I'm not even sure if I'll get a shirt this year. I have far too many t-shirts (I could literally wash every single one I own and go at least a couple of months without having to do laundry again), and I'd much rather save my money for food and a little booze (not a big drinker). We'll see tho, barely a month left till I fly out!

  12. Any chance they will update the main site? Everything seems a bit disjointed to me, since their isn't separate pages with a list of all the houses and another page listing all the sz's like in years past. So far everything is just on the announcement page. I mean no big deal either way, just hoping they would give a little more backstory to the whole Chance stuff and how everything connects, cause right now nothing connects lol.

Am I the only one interested in the fact it will have a claustrophobic feel? Thats a really interesting! I'm hoping that (even though it will probably disrupt the flow) we can have a crawling area or a pit. Whatever it is, I'm excited.

They could bring back that thing you have to stoop to walk through (the last I remember it was TWD in 21 I think?). The one thing that could be a problem with a crawling area or similar is the fact it will have to be ADA, which they could of course have a separate pathway similar to The Forsaken in the tilted ship scene, but still I don't know how much room they have to do something like that and keep the claustrophobic feel.
