  1. Zones 1) Trick r Treat - as I've said before, this area for a scarezone is usually my fave, and when it's very Halloween-esque, it will be my #1 2) Festival of the Deadliest - I'm thinking there is a lot of potential for this. I'm picturing elaborate costuming and killer makeup 3) Invasion - Excited for something different even though I'm not a huge sci-fi fan 4) Altars of Horror - I don't mind the photo-op sort of zone. I like to take lots of pics (NOT selfies), and this is a great opportunity. 5) The Purge - meh - sick to death of it 6) Roaming Hordes - I don't mind the hordes as you can't have HHN without chainsaws. The sound is necessary background noise for me. But I wouldn't say I'm amped up for them. Houses 1) The Shining - been wanting a King property since I started going in 2005. Also, we visited the Stanley Hotel for the first time this summer, so I'm all about The Shining. I have faith that A&D will rock this 2) AHS - this was my fave house last year. The did an AMAZING job with it. I expect nothing less this year. 3) Scarecrows - love, love, love this concept. I cannot WAIT to see it! 4) The Fallen - I think this one is pretty much a tie with Scarecrows for me as I am equally excited about this. I bet it's the most beautiful house this year. 5) Hive - I love me some vampires. I think they are sexy as hell. I am never pissed to see vampires in the streets or in the houses.. yes, please. 6) Dead Waters - having been through Death Water Bayou at HOS several times, I am curious to see what HHN does with it. Voodoo stuff can be scary 7) Ash v Evil Dead - not hating on Ash. I just haven't watched it yet, although I've seen all three movies. I know this will be the comedy house, and I'm all for it. 8) Blumhouse - disappointed with The Purge being recycled again. Insidious was great the first time, but I don't need to keep seeing it. Sinister may save this. 9) Saw - I still am not convinced this translates well to a house. It's just one torture seen after another. Meh. I'll probably see it once and skip it later.
  2. I was hoping for Get Out or Split as well. I didn't think we'd have to endure The Purge in the house when there is a scarezone. Again, while I liked the third movie, it's just not THAT great to be done over and over. It's the new TWD, apparently.. the thing that wouldn't die. <giant eyeroll> I can see having to include some of Insidious since they are making yet another one of these (another giant eyeroll), so they have to keep the property in everyone's mind. Get Out was such a huge success - you'd think they would've wanted to make a nod to that. I liked Split as well. Sinister should be awesome though.. there are some great visuals in that movie for a house.
  3. You know what's GREAT for GROUP participation? An escape room. Sorry.. couldn't pass up the opportunity to remind all of my HNN family that Dare 2 Escape is waiting for you HHN fans to come play. I will recommend The Asylum or The Ringmaster for all you haunt fans. We are giving discounts to Nightmares peeps. http://www.dare2escape.com Also, I agree with everything you said about the stupid front facing cameras. Maybe I'm an old fart, but it annoys the hell out of me how narcissistic and self-absorbed people are getting because of it. I agree on your theory of each coast having the fingerprints of Murdy or Aiello. While I have no issues with a much more "adult" concept (I like it, actually), I believe overall, Orlando is just better at creating the entire experience. Their detail seems sharper, their concepts more interesting, their passions align with the love of Halloween. Hollywood is just so Hollywood. As it should be, i guess.. but for a Halloween event, that's just not my thing.
  4. You're basing your "opinion" admittedly on watching videos. I've been to several years of Hollywood's HHN while still going to Orlando the same years. Orlando is ALWAYS better. From someone who is constantly bemoaning the loss of originals, it amazes me you'd even think Hollywood would be better since they have NONE.
  5. Actually, no they don't. But nice attempt at another slam.
  6. Dude, get a grip. This year will still be awesome. They are clearly having issues being able to announce. So what? In 18 days, it won't matter. We will start 6 weeks of Halloween goodness, and we will love every minute of it. Then, on November 5, we will all be right back here bitching it's over. If you don't go, I guess it's more loaded fries for us.
  7. Agree 100%. The problem is, that friggin movie got delayed AGES ago. I don't see how that delay could possibly still be screwing this up. There is more to it. And it sucks further that they can't just skip over the stupid BH announcement and just officially give us the originals.
  8. What the hell?? I don't get it. Hollywood announces.. and Orlando - crickets. What the hell are they doing?
  9. Welcome back, sweetie! I can't believe you took the time to read all 148 pages of this. OMG. As for your drink question - I don't often drink at the event because I want to be stone-cold sober and remember every detail. However, we usually buy one of the themed drinks in order to get the blinky cup. So far, I haven't been disappointed. The red one last year tasted like watermelon Jolly Rancher. That did NOT piss me off. Thanks for the compliment, btw. Dude.. can I ask a question? Why in holy hell, if you have such animosity toward the event and how it's run, are you even here? Why bother? Is it in your nature to look for things you can tear apart? I realize there are certain personality types who need this kind of stimulation, but for fuck's sake, why this? Clearly, this is a forum for the "fan boys and girls" who you seem to look down on as well. Does this make you feel superior? I mean, good for you if you get your rocks off on this kind of thing, but for me, it's rather tiresome. If there are other haunts and events that you believe are "leagues ahead of HHN", then why don't you find forums for those and go nitpick with those people? I have no problem with people voicing opinions and commentary and even some bitching. I thought Critical had a stick in his ass, but you take the cake. Critical is a "get off my lawn" crabby pants. You're more like a sit-in-a-bunker paranoid who flies out of control at the slightest provocation. I suppose I can just find a way to block your posts so I don't have to read them, but that is not in MY nature. I participate in this forum and read what everyone says - good or bad. So, I guess my other choice is to respond with my own thoughts. And yes, I am a PROUD Kool-Aid drinker of HHN. It will always be my favorite event for many, many reasons. I don't have to explain it to you.
  10. Hmmm.. interesting. Thank you very much!
  11. Agree! Mark is a rock star! Best pictures, hands down!
  12. I could not have said it better. Thanks Grime
  13. Agree. The irony is Purge Election Year was the only one of these movies I liked .. it seemed so, so... um , relevant. But, I don't need to see another Purge scare zone. Thrilled I have an "excuse" to watch Trick r Treat again.
  14. I am pretty much going to live in Central Park. If anyone needs me, you know where to look. <beyond overjoyed to the point I am getting stares around me at work>
  15. You're correct - it is usually damn hot. I do love the Fall here in Chicago - the only thing I hate about it is that when it's over, winter comes. WINTER SUCKS. Anyway, even if they didn't do the "hot" drinks - there is no reason not to do pumpkin spice or apple donuts. That's a staple here in the fall at all the apple orchards and such. They do well with sweet treats, and I can't fathom why they don't add this kind of thing to it. God knows, Universal has the best caramel apples on the planet. That's a start.. So, it's Thursday. Shall we start taking bets?
  16. Since the event starts four weeks from Friday, what do you all think the chances are that we get more info this week? Or are they just going to give us the whole thing next week?
  17. No! Just.. NO! If you want a "safe zone", go over to MIB. Not a damn thing happening over there.
  18. I don't even mind the crowds in there. It's a decent ebb and flow. If this area is good (like with Evil's Roots and Grown Evil), we will spend a LOT of time there, so I know it's not always packed. I felt the same way on Lair. I was really, really disappointed with that whole thing - especially with how awesome Evil's Roots was the year before. If TrT is coming there, I will literally do the Snoopy happy dance all the way from the parking lot, through City Walk, all the way past the gates until I reach this zone and probably start crying. Is it weird to find good Halloween decorating beautiful enough to make one cry? LOL
  19. *gobsmacked* - that pic is BEAUTIFUL!! Thanks for sharing that!! You are DEFINITELY the weird guy. This is usually my favorite scare zone every year (last year is the exception). I think all the trees and cover give it just enough enclosure to make it effective.
  20. Just because Alice likes the pics.. and so do I - and it shows the potential for that area when done right. Edit: Crap - I don't know why two of these posted sideways. I thought I fixed them. Sorry about that. Crap.
  21. I loved the whole setup there in 25. It was beautiful. I spent a LOT of time in that scare zone. Would it be awesome to have it sync with music? Sure!! But just having them there at all changes the whole feel of the thing. They should ALWAYS be there. I don't care wtf the scare zone is.
  22. Oh my god, there really ARE pumpkins in the trees. Ok - I wasn't sure if the comment earlier about that was true, or if it was a comment made to get everyone to change the subject we were probably not supposed to be discussing. My apologies for the cynic in me not believing it. I just saw the pic on Twitter. This makes my whole day.
