  1. Does anybody remember precisely when the archive site (you know, this one>http://websites.horrornights.be/archives/) went up last year? I seem to think it was in May, does anybody have the exact date? EDIT - after checking last year's website thread, it seems likely that the archive site went up on Monday, June 1, 2009 and the teaser site went up on Thursday, June 25, 2009. If this is incorrect please advise me, but following this pattern we should expect the archive site up this year about four weeks from now on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 with a teaser up perhaps by Thursday, June 24, 2010?
  2. At Sweet 16 they were all summoned by Darkness... HOLY CRAP!!! I just remembered, in Ridley Scott's Legend, the entrance into Darkness' lair was a great evil looking TREE!!!! Check it out: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gz39pjQohuQ/SfVAb-MyhcI/AAAAAAAABRw/ZpIo6iG5h5s/s400/PDVD_670.BMP Charles, I will do another YouTube eventually when my schedule permits. Precisely when that will be, I do not yet know.
  3. This idea really appeals to me for a number of reasons. As those who have visited the currently offline Vault forums may know, one of my obsessions... er, hobbies is genealogy. So the thought that this year's HHN could be all about the Genealogy of Horror thrills me tremendously. This is even more fun for me as just a week or so ago while tracing my own family roots I found that I am the 9th cousin 3 times removed of Ray Bradbury, who of course wrote The Halloween Tree. What's more our common ancestors were Salem Witches! I even resemble the man a bit: especially with my new horn-rimmed glasses! So if these rumors and speculations all turn out to be accurate, then HHN XX will be a Family Affair, but especially for me!
  4. Suppose the Gorewood tree is like unto the tree Yggdrasil of Nordic myth. By this I mean to suggest that its roots and branches extend between different planes of existence and different points in history, sprouting out through time and space. Thus the Body Collectors followed the branches of the tree from Terra Cruentus to 1888 London. Thus the roots of the tree were seen in the Hallow taking us through all the history of Halloween, becoming in fact a Halloween Tree. These roots seem to have a central point... Carey, Ohio. It is in Carey that the descendant of Jack the Ripper became a teacher of a school (very much like the Skool of Terra Cruentus) and others of the same family opened a butcher shop, and a movie theater. Here we may follow many bloodlines, an insane clown kills a little girl whose father goes mad. Another little girl becomes possessed by a demon she devours and grows old and terrible. Perhaps her granddaughter becomes a doctor? And following these roots from Carey into Europe will a certain filmmaker make his way to a certain movie theater to show his unusual short subjects? How will that cinema's very protective proprietor react to that? Here we see a tree done in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement. Oddly familiar, isn't it?
  5. I'm afraid I don't have facebook so I am not allowed to look at the picture.
  6. Did anybody get a photo of the tree at Hauntcon?
  7. Here here! You don't have to be a drunk, er, um, drinker to meet up with us drunks, er drinkers!
  8. Charles are you implying that my cousin Ray Bradbury's book The Halloween Tree will inspire things at HHN again this year? Also, I can't help but notice the Arts and Crafts style of your sig.
  9. Only if you put a black wig on with me Lyn! We'd be so scary Universal would hire us on the spot to be next year's Icons!
  10. My first was Fright Nights in 1991 and have gone back ever since. This puts me in a special club along with Hush and jwfearman and a few others. But to most of you I suppose it simply means that I am old.
  11. 8 houses and 6 scarezones effectively kills the recent "every house will have its own scarezone rumor", perhaps every Icon will have its own house and scarezone? Following up on Charles' speculation, if we see the "Birth of Universal Horror" will that mean that this year will also be "CLASSIC"? That is to say will we see Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, Phantom of the Opera etc. mixing it up with Jack, Caretaker, Director, Storyteller, Usher and hopefully Bloody Mary? Arts and Crafts? That is the name of an artistic movement of the late Victorian and early Edwardian era, particularly in the field of design and architecture. This was started by William Morris and John Ruskin who proposed a Neo-Gothic style harkening back to the Middle Ages when pre-industrial people designed and created things by hand. Here are some examples that would fit in neatly with HHN: Of course, the term "arts and crafts" is also used today to describe any sort of DIY handiwork including things like this: Let us hope that this clue refers more to the former than the latter!
  12. Belligerent, moi? And I would only need to say it three times.
  13. Bloody Mary will be back at HHN XX one way or another. How do I know this? Well, even if she isn't brought back by Universal as an icon, Bloody Mary will still be back when I go to Finnegan's and order a cocktail! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Bloody Mary.
  14. I rather enjoy doing the time warp on the queue line myself.
  15. Excuse me but hasn't Bill & Ted always been in 3D? I mean, it's a live show... otherwise where would they get flat actors?
  16. Speak for yourself, Liz. Or were you? I remember some very funny moments at the Horrorwood Die-In last year.
  17. Yesterday Chad aka Outkastz posted on his HHNRumors.com site that Universal renewed its trademark of Festival of the Dead on January 6, 2010. The trademark was renewed by Universal in California, however. Of course, Universal's corporate HQ is in California, but this makes me wonder if the parade coming back this year? Could it feasibly be held here in Florida with all the technical and logistical problems of crowd control especially if there will be queue lines for 10 houses and 10 scarezones in operation? Or does this mean the parade will debut at Hollywood's event? Or will the name Festival of the Dead be used for a house, scarezone or even a new show in homage the the old parade?
  18. Whatcha been hired to do at Universal? Please say you got Roddy's old job! Then HHN will be truly awesome!
  19. In that case let's make sure Roberto shows up! Sure, his voice has finally changed and his screams will now be tenor or baritone instead of soprano, but he's sure to provide wonderful screamings nevertheless!
  20. With the rumor rampant that there will be 10 houses and 10 scarezones, that is 20 scareacter areas for HHN 20, I think it would be rather cool in that case if 19 of these represented each of the prior 19 years specifically and the 20th (hopefully a house) being an entirely new concept for 2010. Therefore in homage to the classic chainsaw pumpkin logo which debuted in 1992 at HHN 2 I hereby suggest the CMT stalking through the pumpkins in the Central Park area. They could actually wear the beloved old logo as insignia.
  21. I usually attend opening night so please count me in on hoisting Guinnesses
  22. "The only thing worse than everybody talking about you, is nobody talking about you." You turn 15 in a couple of weeks, by this time next year you will probably grow a few inches and your voice drop an octave. When you are no longer able to hit those soprano notes when you scream people will find your terror less entertaining. In the meantime, enjoy the celebrity while it lasts.
  23. Here is a little clip of one of the highlights from last night at HHN:
  24. There doesn't seem to be a thread here for the Group Photo tonight, so I am posting this here, especially as the ----- is down. (on Halloween yet!) I will be at HHN tonight and will likely head towards Finnegan's at about 6:00 pm if anyone wants to meet up. Of course, I will also be at the Group photo that Drew has set up at 10:00 pm in Horrorwood. I had previously stated that I would be dressy tonight, but it looks like it will be too damn hot for jacket and tie, so I am wearing denim shorts and a purple dress shirt unbuttoned over a dark grey V-neck T-shirt.
