  1. What if this scarezone on Hollywood Blvd. is Shadows of the Past but as an expanded area. That might just be what it could be.. and possibly a (don't moan at this, now) photo op area, even though most of the members here hate it so much. I mean, the assortment of character names we've been given are randomly given out. Your typical scarezone is somewhat more put together in character placement, isn't it? Well.. it could be a welcome and goodbye to the characters you've all come to know over the years. But... aren't chainsaw and stilt characters in the same area a disaster waiting to happen?

I have only been imagining the characters roaming the sz. I'm just now trying to think about how it could be themed, and I've got nothing. Bringing back all these characters in the same zone as such. They have to find a way to get it to make sense. Though I do agree there will be good opportunities for photo ops, I can't imagine the sz lacking in scares. At the same time, it makes me laugh that people will get so excited to see past characters, they just won't be scared.

  2. There's no such thing as over thinking when you're speculating :) speculating is made to let your imagination run wild :D

I agree, though at the same time. Some people say and come up with things that just are just silly and make no sense. Speculation is fun, when we get to see and hear many ideas, though people have to be careful not to just say things for the sake of saying it.

The good thing about now, with the role names coming out, we are getting a better idea of what to speculate on and about. The things that have been said in the past couple of days, have been much better to read than what's been said in the past months.

  3. I like what bonovox was saying about the myths and what not. I've been thinking that as well, similar to how 18 was bringing to life fairy tales. We now will be bringing to life all the things we know to well, thy we cant prove to be real. From the mythology characters, area 51, Bigfoot, the boogyman. Those all just being a general basis, not meaning they will all be apart of the event. Though as was said, all things we fear, and fear because we never see...just hear about and sometimes feel.

  4. First time posting... was reading and agreeing with the lantern having what appeared to be roots... Reminded me of an old Irish Halloween Story that is the basis for the Jac-O-Lantern...

In Ireland, where Halloween began in my opinion, the first jack-o'-lanterns weren't made of pumpkins. They were made out of rutabagas, potatoes, turnips, or even beets. There is an old 18th century Irish 'legend' about a man named Stingy Jack who was too mean to get into heaven and had played too many tricks on the devil to go to hell. When he died, he had to walk the earth, carrying a lantern made out of a turnip with a burning coal inside. Stingy Jack became known as 'Jack of the Lantern', or 'Jack-o'-lantern.' From this legend came the Irish tradition of placing jack-o'-lanterns made of turnips and other vegetables in windows or by doors on Halloween.

Funny thing, Merritt island terror nights used the theme of stingy jack last year. I learned about that tale from that.

As for the lovecraft stuff, it's very cool. I've never heard of it before, though it talking about extreme evil makes a lot of sense and could play out very well for the event.

  5. Getting clearer all the time. So a military with an observation deck. Still could be a spaceship, boat, military base...

I'm not betting on this, but you've got me thinking of an area 51 type of thing. I visualize the military storage being something that's storing things the military keeps secret from the public. Walking through the observation deck viewing an alien autopsy, just as another example of its use. Thanks for making my mind wander on this one.

  6. Saying there is a limited amount is good for marketing. People see this and figure they need to buy before they miss out.

They've really done well it seems coming up with these new options for the FFP. Though with this, I'm thinking they won't be opening up any extra days(Saturdays) to the FFP. I could be wrong, but since they are offering the addition of Friday, having days added like usual may not happen.

  7. This website is ready done well. From the layout to the music. I have to say, I honesty found the music last year a bit annoying. At first, cool yes. Eventually it got old, but this music is enjoyable.

It's gonna be interesting if they decide to keep the site simple as such, and use LT a lot more.

I'd also like to see one more update before august.

  8. With all of the information we've been given so far, this years event seems like it's going to be impressive. All of these bits and pieces of information are opening doors to so many possibilities.

I'm hoping the lantern continues through the updates and plays a role in some ways. Imagine an opening show with a character of some sort, leading guests from the gates with a lantern. No that won't happen, but the idea of this entertains me.

I also think it would make a great media gift.

  9. Just wanted to update y'all - I got ahold of my contact and have an interview scheduled for next Tuesday @ 5:30!

Now I have to think about housing for two months, as I really want this job, but I don't want to drive back & forth from Tampa every night.

i drove back and forth most every night, while working a 40+ hour job an hour away. when i stayed there, it was usually in my can in the parking lot. fortunately they do have showers, so i could go and clean up everyday i stayed. some nights i spent in hotels, and others stayed with cast members.

  10. A few words:

    1. Kyle, how the hell did I miss you there? I was #36.

    2. Now I know who Mr Bungle is, because you were in my group.

    3. I got my call today, and that's all I'm saying. People, don't post this shit, it can get you fired. It's ok to say you were cast, and that's it, no roles, and I wouldn't even disclose a location at this stage in the game.

Getting that call, while I was finishing up lunch at the Bistro today, totally made my day. I was really worried about not being cast, or waiting forever to hear because I'm internal, but no, about 2 PM, I was called.

And for those of you that have heard role names, I would say 100% that these are code names, and no one really knows what the hell we're playing yet.

For everyone auditioning in the next few weeks, best of luck to you all, and can't wait to scare with some of you.

kim what number were you? and damn i want my call then!

and wtf, where'd the spec thread go.

    plus UPDATE! so common

  11. Understandable, i can see how it can mean something and it cant also, i really want a part though and if they need ONE guy in my sature for the event out of public, i wanna be that guy so im gonna go early. How horrible is the waiting? tthats something im not looking forward to, the 5 or 4 hours of waiting.

one thing to keep in mind is, there are always at least gonna be 2 of you. in my case last year, there were 24 of me. so no worries man, i get what your saying and completely understand. a lot of people feel the same way. you'll be nervous, just show that personality with confidence.

  12. I just wanted to add that showing up early shows initiative. It puts you one step ahead of everyone else. And while it's not a huge factor, I'm sure it helps.

this is something i thought about yesterday. if i walk in the room with #1 on my chest, am i seen as anything different, or even a more capable person than anyone else. come to realize, no. though yes, it shows initiative. some people have other commitments before they can line up for HHN auditions. dont think that not being #1 or #438 will give you any less a chance to secure a role.

as said before, there are many people who are turned away, who also go back week after week eventually securing a role. they look at 30 people from each group, and have to visualize each person in specific roles. some people just aren't right at the time, though things change.

ultimately, just be confident in yourself. show your personality, thats what they want to see most. not that you like a specific horror movie, you could love "lion king"(as most do) and they'd hire you...as long as you look the part and show your personality fits the part.

  13. how about people(men/women) shaving their heads for something thats new/original and not "splice" or anything else movie related. same with the "blue mohawk" how about a&d creating new characters/roles for this year and years to come, instead of relying on movies to create bits and pieces of the event. the 20th anniversary should be nothing requiring, nor using movies. whats the point of an anniversary if they are using new movies such as "splice" that 5 people have seen, when they can contribute new and exciting ideas to extend through future events. ideas that will pave the way for future HHN's that we will love and enjoy, as well as bitch/complain about.

i know we all share different opinions on what a&d are capable of...yes both good and bad ideas, but thats anything. they have to sell this event and entertain everyone. its not always, nor will it ever be "perfect," but just maybe this year will be something that everyone as a whole can enjoy. us die hard fans can follow every bit and piece and LT event, as well as, the GP understanding what they can fear when coming to HHN.

Look, i know its difficult to speculate on things we know nothing about, while at the same time, i realize we have to respect the fact everyone has their own idea. lets just be patient, and think about the things/ideas we are throwing out there. soon enough, who knows when? we will have, im hoping something to say "yay!" about very soon im sure.

we are all on this forum for the same reason, yes? so be supportive of one and other and the event. lets not tear each other down. we all share a great interest in something amazing. please remember and take advantage of the knowledge we hold over many others. lets enjoy what we've got......

  14. As ive already said, i am a virgin auditioner, i wanted to ask a veteren who was auditioning tuesday, what time are you getting there? I plan right now on 2, but if thats too early or late i wanna adjust it.

first, as i said. people know their roles when they get called back...whether as its been said, today or weeks from now.

now, you can show up as early as you want. 5am i suitable if you so choose, as well as 6pm if you feel more comfortable.

if you are looking to get there before everyone else, and be seen. i would suggest being there by at least 1pm.

  15. First off. People only know that they've been cast. No one will know anything until they get a call back being offered a specific role. Those names posted are old characters previously played.

Also. People lined up as early as 12. I showed up at 12, rode forbidden journey, ate, then lined up. People that showed up between 430-6 were there till close to midnight if not later.

  16. aw man, I was 54!

oh right on. i really felt it necessary to screech in there. haha i couldn't help myself

mind me asking what they asked you to do ??? if anything.

just the same stuff we've been talking about...maybe have changed depending on groups, from fav role to whatever?

  17. Congratulations to all that got cast today

but i hope you left me and the others

some roles to audtion to next week lol

yeah i mean with so many groups going in and all being cast, its a lot. you figure from today, probably close to 400 people will be cast, for an event that requires idk, around 1000?

  18. Haha i know I know but this is something I'm passionate about and it's my dream so I think you can understan why I want it to be perfect. I will chang to shorts and a tshirt and thanks for the other tips. So showing up way early won't better your chances for a job because if you show up near audition time then they could have already caster someone in the part you could have gotten had you of been in before them right? That wAs somehig I read here and on other tip places about auditions. Otherwise I think I'm ready, ready for any question they ask they only thing that's unpredictable for me is if they ask todemonstrate scare tactic, maybe I'll reenact CD last year when he scared he frack outta me, stupid bride distraction!

when it comes to being passionate, im no less passionate than you. i'd say i know more passionate, but to each their own.

when its comes to being seen before other people, absolutely it can better your chances to secure a role. though there have been returning SA's that have been told no multiple times, and by the last audition they went to ended up securing a role that was very commercialized. so for myself, sure i wanna be there early tuesday, though half the reason is just to see everyone again.

if your asked to perform some scare tactic, honestly just be yourself. do whats natural/comfortable to you. just because bryan(cd) did something, doesn't mean you will be scary doing the same thing. you've got girls 4'7 who can use their height to their advantage, or people who have the most absurdly loud voices. so from a snarl to a creepy body movement, just be you and be outgoing.

right now your just over thinking everything, but really it doesn't have to be that way. i did the same thing my first year, and afterwords was just like, damn. that was painless and easy.

if you get cast, your excitement will change in spurts. initially its, omfg yes! im gonna really being doing this. then its filling out the application work, getting your id, signing up for orientation. (which by the way, like "dont touch the table!", dont fall asleep.) after finishing your app work and what not. now the favorite line comes into play, "hurry up and wait." you wait, for up to the time you show up to orientation to find out what role you've been cast for, this can take weeks! though what you find out is only a codename giving you a very vague idea of what you may be. but you know your zone/cast/character. oh what a relief it is.

sorry for the rant, could talk about it all day. there are just so many exciting steps/phases of this...from auditions to rehearsals where you meet your cast, and actually working!

    get pumped for tuesday!!

  19. Ok so i have been reading everything, because im super nervous, first time auditioner. I plan to only request one day off for family to see HHN and me with them, I plan on jeans and a button up shirt? and i plan on bringing a resume? and i plan on getting to the door no later than 2 for a 6 O'clock audition? i know this is worded wierd, im just confirming those three, if not let me know which changes to make, once again super nervouse about audition but this is my dream so its understandable ha.

wow, your getting a little intense with this. last year i wore shorts with a tshirt, and this year i plan to do the same. if your gonna show up that early, your going to be so uncomfortable in pants and button up shirt.

you dont need a resume, or anything else for that matter, because they provide the pen and paperwork to be filled out, so just know your schedule.

all you need are clothes, just be yourself/comfortable. doesn't matter how early or late you show up, showing up at 2 only means you'll get home earlier...it doesn't mean the process will be shorter.

yes, this is a job. though its also has very little to do with what you look like, but rather your body. have fun with this, dont turn it into something it isnt.

  20. I'm going to audition this year, but working it is another story because I never know what my work schedule is going to be like. But I plan on auditioning for the fun of it, and my friend wants to audition with someone.

thats cool and all, but make sure your honest with your schedule...you might take a role over someone else who has the actual availability to work. then you come back and say, oh sorry my schedule just wont let me do this...then thats more leg work for Uni...

so, dont do it just for the fun of it...but also cuz you can.
