I'm 5'1". They are going to be huge to anyone my height.

Dementors may be a more appropriate first thought given the extra weight. Or puppets for the rumored sci-fi zone.

There's another possibility, Canyon. I'll need to look back at pics of that zone, though.

You're right, I think that's what I meant in my head, but mixed up Dementors with Deatheaters.

Exactly how large are they planning on these stilts walkers being?

    I think that's probably our largest hint/clue.

Even if the Bigfoot stilts are on the smaller side, that places the males at 7'6" to 8'2". If the stilts are closer to 48" instead of 18", that's at least 10 ft.

Bigfoots run either 2.5 or 3 feet.  Just depends on specifics for the role.  With a 6' height minimum, you'll most likely see 9' and taller.

I personally have no clue what's happening, but when hearing a current park IP will be used, along with bigfoots...I thought Deatheaters.  I'd assume they're using the stilts to carry additional weight, which could mean stilt walkers puppeteering large puppets.

Again, this is entirely personal speculation.

  3. Just to clarify, for those who are asking.  "Hybrid" stilts are simply drywall stilts. These are the stilts used for all seasonal events. "Bigfoot" stilts are used in Superstar and at Transformers.  This will be the first time Bigfoot stilts will be used, by Universal, for a seasonal event. Bigfoots are used primarily by local entertainment companies and are designed specifically for performing. They are more mobile and extremely sturdy, allowing them to carry more weight.

  4. Forgive me if I may have missed any discussion on what I'm about to ask I don't recall seeing any talk about it and maybe I'll have answered my own question in the end here. But since this new parade debuted this year are all those new floats a part of the reason why they are not considering using the parade building for a house location anymore? If I remembered right I was under the assumption that building was big enough to hold floats and still house a maze?

This was the case when it was only housing Mardi Gras floats.

  5. Would they suspend the parade for HHN? Isn't October considered the "off-season" anyway? Of course, if they do two parks (or even entirely at IOA), it would most likely be a moot point. Between this and Amity being boarded up, there are a lot of new factors this year. I'm really curious to see what they end up doing.

Truthfully I'm not to sure what they will do with the parade. If they suspend it, it puts a lot of people out of work for the time being. I've also heard talks of no Macy's parade. With the superstar parade, it could save UNI a lot of money in shipping costumes, floats, balloons etc...

Regardless, they have a plan for HHN and I'm sure it'll be a good year.

  6. So this isn't so much wishful thinking, but...thinking about the new Superstar Parade. I wonder if it will cause any issues for HHN. I'd imagine the route of the parade will be similar to most others, meaning having streets cluttered with props for SZ's could hinder the parades performance.

    So hmmm...

  7. I have major props for the people that work this zone - you all keep getting better and better at utilizing your space and doing seriously creepy and startling scares. My only regret is that I don't do this zone more often. I learned early on that heavy fog + stilts + wheelchair = potential disaster for stilt actor. The poor stilt actors have bumped their stilts into the wheels or footrest section of the chair more than once, and I'm so concerned one of them might do a header that I'm scared to walk myself through here very often. And not the good kind of scared ;)

I also have kudos from the past weekend. On Friday I got at least one Nightmares shout out, and on Sunday, a special shout out from the side. One of the actors on the side gestured to my chair and said "You're missing a Nightmare!" I explained about Dead Uncle Fred, but I think I like the idea of a Missing Nightmare, too. Thank you, that was Most Excellent Fun!! :)

You were quick to respond to me. I'm glad you do enjoy the zone.

Also, the wheel chairs are difficult to see, but we've become more aware of them.

  8. I agree. there is a creepy feeling, I don't know reminds me of something, like a movie or something

It Really is such a Shame that is so short though,If this house was done where 7 is that long with more actors, more skull creatures and more skulls it could have been amazing, kinda like Esqueleto Muerte but darker and scarier,

too bad, this is the shortest scarezone I think I've seen, i think is shorter than the luck zone

this could be call a Minizone lol

To touch on this quickly. The "Canyon" isn't the entire zone. The zone is extended out on both sides, more so towards GE. Now, the zone was intended to be larger, but due to the near by concessions between GE and Canyon, this was unable to happen.

The zone makes due with what its got.

  9. Canyon of Dark Souls : This zone got me like once and i went through it twice. I was more scared of one of the stilt people falling then anything else.... and guess what happened ? ....... a stilt guy fell. I felt so bad for him , but he stayed in character so i give him/her props :)

    environment-6/10

    scares-6/10

    OVERALL-6/10

You must have been walking through at the one wrong time. There has only been one stilt that has fallen so far. Some get really low to the ground, and people often think they have fallen when they have not.

Hopefully you come back and get another go!

  10. I'm starting to worry about how this zone is going to be put together. It's a week before rehearsals, and this is the least worked on of the sz's..

It only takes one night. Construction will pick up after RTU. After saturday night, HHN will be in full swing.

  11. I'm super excited for this scare zone!! I think its going to feel really imposing walking between the "cliffs" and all the stilt walkers. I just hope there's some scare actors on the ground too. Maybe even some that blend in with the rocks of the "canyon walls". I see a lot of potential in this zone!

There will be ground roles in this zone.

  12. I can only hope this beautiful lady brings me good luck during this years event.

That being said, let me say something about the pictures before we hopefully end discussion on that, otherwise, it needs a new thread.

Scareactors in the streets are actually told to either NOT take pictures, or at least keep them to a minimal. Often times when things are discussed after sets, a remark might be, "blah blah blah, your wasting too much time taking pictures."

We understand everyone wants a picture, but this is how we see it.

1.) Someone walks by and just flashes a picture in our face...Ouch, great now I cant see for a few minutes. There have been occasions where i've walked off set because I didn't feel safe, as I couldn't see.

2.) Im standing there taking a picture with you and you want more. More poses, switch person in the pictures, etc... As this is happening, 50 people who paid a lot of money to come to the even to be scared are walking by watching me spend time with you. What happens now? People line up for pictures and once you walk away, 5 other people are demanding pictures. I did it for you, so I guess I have to now for them.

3.) I don't, nor do most, mind posing for a quick pictures. Be ready! When I pose for a picture, I'll do maybe a 5 second count. Your having camera issues? Im sorry, im moving on to scare someone. Have your camera on or whatever you need to do.

Personally I hate when someone asks for a pictures. Not only when they ask, but they follow you asking repeatedly. If a scareactor stops and says yes, they're probably breaking character in some way. So like I said, if your ready...pose and snap the pic!

  13. Idk if anyone said this yet but it looks like they are using the scarezones from last year for houses for this year like we were given hints last year for this years event such as the coven the cult of the raven could be the poe house and the and saws n steam for the saws and steam house and esqulete is the possiable spanish house that's it but just my thoughts

    Sent from my DROID3

Fun thought, but this isn't the case. We already know what all the houses are and S&S is the only SZ to become a house.

  14. Why is there a piece of street construction in the entrance Queue for SS23a ???

We discussed this a little in the B&T speculation thread while talking about the possible location of the new show.

With the street zone being extended down that part of NY, it means most likely queue lines will be entering and exiting in new locations.

  15. The current stages at the park are Fear Factor (B&T), Beatlejuice, and Animal Actors... Terminator I think would be a huge stretch. That leaves two possibilities - one being a built stage like in 06 in the Mel's Die-In plaza (there isn't a scare zone plotted here so it's possible), or, perhaps a stage constructed in front of Lucy - a true "front of the park" show

don't forget about the main stage in front of Rockit. Though I know this is generally used for a queue line, you never know. I believe it was in 2008 they used a SS to host lines for 2 houses. I cannot say which SS, as I don't remember. I'm also not suggesting they will do this.

Though I would like to point out the tower they have bult down in NY where the queue line would normally be. Same location for houses such as Body Collectors and Frankenstein. With this, might we want to assume queue line layouts will be changing?

  16. There is no television station with the call sign WKNB, there is a FM radio station in Pennsylvania with those letters which plays country western music.

Thus this is a purely fictitious television station as one would expect, but there IS a WKBN located in Youngstown, Ohio. So I cannot help but wonder, could our WKNB also be located in Ohio? If so in Carey?

Oh good ol' Youngstown, my home town.

They love using Carey, Ohio. Maybe the TV station is based out of the area. How fun would that be.

  17. Has anyone auditioned for Bill and Ted yet, or in the past? The Inside Auditions are tonight and I have no idea what to expect. The general Actor auditions say to prepare a one-minute comedic monologue but when you set up the audition it doesn't say anything at all. If we need a headshot/monologue I better start scrambling.

You are required to perform a minute monologue. Can be anything from just a minute of facial expressions and movements, your own created monologue and/or something from a movie.

Head shots and a resume are highly recommend for an actor audition, but they aren't required.

This is similar to most auditions, though they pull fewer people at a time and send you in to audition 1 at a time. It's quick and painless.

    Good luck

  18. I was curious about those. They say something about preparing a one minute monologue. I'm guessing that they're only hiring experienced actors, or people who've gone to school for it? Lol.

Ive been to these auditions there before. Anyone can go, as long as you have a monologue prepared.

Since they are auditioning for shows that involve singing, dancing, and straight diolague...it's absolutely preferred to have people with experience audition. This doesn't mean that anyone should hesitate to go. I highly recommend giving these auditions a shot.

  19. same here no cast for me. which royally sucks

Dident get cast for HHN. Since i wasent cast its sad to say but i sorta lost all intrest in HHN in general :/

This just makes no sense. If your looking for attention, please do it elsewhere. HHN is an amazing event which is fun to both work and attend. To say you've lost interest due to not being cast, well, it's a little selfish.

  20. I'm not a skinny girl, is this worth my time? I'm not huge but have curves. UGH, so distressed but have the car packed as I've heard many women are getting the boot by every group :(

When I say curves: size 10 jean, 40x34x36. Not huge but like i said curvy. I'm also 5'10' so i don't know how that will work for me/against me

Boy, if only we had the answer to this! Everyone would know whether to expect a role or not. Just go in confidently and be energetic. Stand out in your own way. Since no one has any idea what body types they are looking for, its just the luck of the draw.

From the sounds of last week, one maybe three people out of each group were being cast. Tomorrow will be quite the same, if not even more selective with fewer people getting cast. I may be mistaken, but they closed auditions last year after the third week. The event was around 75%+ cast after reunion auditions.

Just be relaxed, be yourself, and have fun...
