  1. I heard that they may be adding stuff to some of the houses, yeah. Effects and Lighting, nothing you'd notice too much. Just today they added water dripping in the Stygian Witch cave in Hades. A lot of folks seem annoyed by that though. It would be more better to have a bit of fog in there in my opinion.

  2. Jake, Hades is a place, not a person. Chyron (I may be spelling this wrong) is the person who mans the boat on the river Styx and takes you across to Hades. There should be a Chyron, as I know someone cast as him.

    It's Charon, and he's one of the first things you see in the house.

  3. True that.. I work in Hades myself. That's all I can say. When we are training, rehearsing, and working... pretty much all we ever get to see is our work area... Hell, we barely even get to see any of our own house outside of where and whatever boohole/scene we are working.

    When we work, we work the area that you as a guest walk through, and that's it. So while guests are experiencing this vast experience, we have our little 'Offices' (booholes) we work the entire time. Sound exciting!? :D It doesn't leave much to talk about at all.

  4. This commercial that has been going around, is it the Final, scary one? Because I hear people saying how scary the preview was, but honestly, its not scary at all. I take it Universal is making an even Scarier commercial that I have not seen yet?

    You are watching the same commercial.. It has the same production values as their past commercials. I dunno why they are over-hyping it. :P 19 was better.

  5. 100% personal opinion here, but would it not be safer to scare guests OFF the sidewalks rather than ONTO the sidewalks? 4-5 inch step up is alot more dangerous that a 4-5 inch step down. Looks like Faceplants will be common.

    I scared a girl and she face planted... I lol'd :}

  6. Hey just a quick question from Scareactor to Scareactors out there.

    This will be my 2nd Horror Nights, but 1st time in a house (Go Hades). What's some weird instances you have encountered that end up being the most irritating, with the guests or without the guests that actually happen in-house? Last year I was Streets (War of The Living Dead) and I encountered much of what you guys just talked about here. I'm guessing that in the Streets, you see it a lot more with the guests mocking you. I got 'play' hit a couple times, and police caught it and gave the group a talking to, but it's something that usually can't be avoided.

  7. I thought the open flame would be for the orfanage, but yeah I was wondering about this, but they have to make it safe, I sure hope that they don't take it out after some weeks or something

    yeah that's what I thought, Havoc, what else could it be? catacombs...?

    Well, the open flame idea.. I remmeber Universal's podcast saying they were going out on a limb to try this out and hoping it would work. Here's hoping that it DOES work. If they attempt open flames, I'm sure they have went through several tests, again and again to make sure it's safe enough to pull off for more than weeks at a time. Here's hoping that the guests AS WELL AS the performers do as they are supposed to and don't ruin the effect from being haultered. :} If you know what I mean.

  8. You know being an easily jumpy screaming female I got targeted pretty much everywhere I moved but was absolutely convinced last year if I forced a big dumb toothy smile on my face in houses, I'd be avoided a bit more and surprisingly it worked. I could be scared to all hell but with a big smile I guess at quick glance I seemed to be enjoying it and like I wouldn't scream. It was interesting to see the Dracula house last year, being predominantly women scareactors, all the men with us got zoned in on. I walked through that house without a single scare!

    A side question to go with that- what are those of you that are scareactors opinions of people (mostly guys Id assume) who are way into your scares? You know, guys smiling and laughing and going "Wow you look awesome!" My husband and friends did that, not in a taunting way or anything, and scareactors seemed annoyed by this and quickly move on.

    Alright, to answer your question. Some performers do get discouraged when they don't get the reaction they want to, but I hope that most performers, such as myself, look at it on a broader scale. When someone comes through and I attempt a scare, and they go, "OMG that was awesome!" to me, they are admiring the work of art that the production team put together in the costume.. and somewhat the performance work I put into it ion those precious few seconds that they encounter me (or whatever creature they happen on). So.. to me, it's very much a compliment if someone does that. I personally, don't get discouraged that I didn't scare them.. I just kinda smile that they were happy with what they saw. I know many scareactors maybe get discouraged that they don't get what they want out of a person. That's their problem if they are THAT self conscious about scaring someone.. lol. Me... I'm more about beinging the art to someone.. if it doesn't scare them? fine... but they better damn well appreciate what I'm there for!! :D

    I don't know what it is, but big bull lesbians are always the most challenging. I try to get them when I see them for the bragging rights, but I have only been able to get a few in the past two years that I have been working the event. I have to say that I agree with Munchie and The Director of Horror in that getting the boyfriends/husbands in front of the girlfriends/wives is always the best. Especially if said boyfriend/husband is being obnoxious. They shut up pretty quick after their lady starts laughing at them. :P

    Gotta be honest with you, this is probably the must annoying thing about working HHN. :angry: I once had a guy follow me for ten minutes pointing me out to everyone, talking about how cool I looked as a Nazi Zombie and letting people know that I was about to scare them. Granted I had him ejected from event and trespassed, but still, no need to act like that. Not saying your husband and his friends did that, it's cool to hear that you look awesome, there is just a fine line. When it starts to interfere with a Scareactor getting his/her scares, its probably time to move on and enjoy the rest of the event.

    LOL! Hey Clint. :}
