  1. ugh so quiet... I mean I guess the event is what it is, I have to wait until the end of October for my trip, but I miss when the forums used to be so hot and active during the HHN season with theories and things like that during the immersive times doing our games and Legendary Truth stuff. Still awesome event but I guess less to discuss now. It has opened, everything is revealed and yep....thats it

So far, I’ve seen three types: Off-Brand Mortal Kombat, Tactical Armor Mask Man (with cape variant), and Sexy Cyborg Stilt Woman. Everyone is wearing a mask.

From the videos I've seen the stilt women look like Lady Gaga tributes lol or I am just a crazy Gaga fan lol. Anyways from what I've seen online I am pleasantly surprised

I really hope that HHN doesn't mirror current societal trends of toning it down because everyone is offended by everything.

If I could tell Aiello one thing for this year, I'd say GO WAY OVER THE TOP.

I am hoping and going with that since the right holders of Ghostbusters had issues with some gore content, or the very least Us and 1000 Corpses, I am assuming they are responsible for the more "family friendly" vibe of this year and hopefully will return to more standard tone next year.

I’m on the east coast (just north of Daytona) and we’re hoping it turns north sooner than later. It’s gonna be the difference between bad and really, really bad.

And I work in radio and do emergency updates throughout storms like this and I’m worried it’s gonna interfere with my HHN plans. I haven’t missed an opening night since I started going so fingers and toes are crossed!

Good luck my friend. While of course we are thrilled it is looking like better news for Orlando, anyone in its path I am truly devastated for, especially anyone in our Nightmares community. I hope it turns away soon....

My younger sister just moved down to Florida to start a new job this past month. So thankful that she's able to get a flight back up tomorrow to sit this out here. I'm hoping anyone not as fortunate can take every step possible to stay safe.

Here's hoping the Scare Zone props avoid damage from winds/flooding as well. I would imagine the houses will be fine, but the tent facades worry me a bit.

Man every hour it seems like Dorian has a new path. This morning at least things look a lot better for Orlando/Florida of course flooding and some strong winds are a possibility but not as bad as before....I am hoping/praying that everything will be ok....but heck it wouldn't be HHN opening without a storm, right? lol!  But seriously hoping for the best and thankfully the latest forecast is looking good for Orlando

  6. I think this is the hardest year yet for me to rank my anticipation as I am excited for all the houses and think they can all deliver, especially after the heels of such a successful year last year. However of course there is possible things that could hold a house back. Hilariously whenever I do these my least anticipated actually becomes one I really like, ex SAW from 27 I had a blast with that house and it was rock bottom on my anticipation.

    10. House of 1000 Corpses, haven't seen the movie actually so maybe once I see it it'll change my outlook but from images I've seen it has potential at least aesthetics even if the movie isn't that good.

    9. ...

Ugh! I can't decide! The rest I am so unsure how to rank, it is about equal! Have positives and negatives to think of for the rest.

Killer Klowns, size constraint of costumes to actually be scary and Trick 'r Treat I thought made the jump from scare zone to house poorly and I just hope the same fate doesn't fall upon KKFOS

  7. I didn't even think about how this could impact nearby scare zones! I certainly hope when the show is active the near by zones don't have to go dark....I think that would be a huge mistake especially for 3 times a night that is to much....they have to keep them active the whole event....I hope

  8. I do miss the days of a more detailed entrance and would love for something anything more to liven up the entrance, especially since the last two years the immediate scare zone is a photo op of the overall event. So I think if some detail of the photo op scare zone could creep out onto the entrance that would be a great transition and think would look amazing!

  9. Looking at the speculation map again I am totally fine with this years line up. Arguably yes it won't go down as the "scariest" event but I think it isn't any need for a concern of the event losing the horror in horror nights. I'll admit it is a concern I usually express as well because I want the event to remain scary but whenever I have had these concerns in the past the event always delivers in the scares so we need to trust the process a bit. I think they understand what people want is to be scared and this year just has its share of more "fun" properties. Actually if done right KKFOS could be really scary or at least I don't see it straying far from Giggles 'n Gore which I remember people enjoying and not having a issue with. Also I am sure Nightingales, 1000 Corpses, Us and Depths of Fear can bring that classic dread feeling (I feel Yeti and Graveyard could also possibly but they could also skew more fun). Yes I am not going into this year saying wow I am going to s**t my pants but I do believe I will go into this event and have a really fun time. Also as we have discussed over the years we are more in it for aesthetics and overall package, scarier haunts usually are outside of HHN.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised by KKFOS. I know people are worried about the sizing of costumes for the scares, but there is a lot of good set design to play around with and i can think of about 7 or 8 'human' characters off the top of my head too. The majority of people did really enjoy the SZ last year and i actually think there are ways they can make it scary, i know a lot of people have referenced Poltergeist, but even if you think back to American Werewolf in London or anything similar the movie wasn't great and there was a lack of characters but they still made it work, trust Universal!

My thoughts to especially since KKFOS is a passion IP for the team. But yea I agree was surprised at the lukewarm and negative response to KKFOS as I also recalled the scare zone being loved last year, I sure found it to be my highlight from last year, and so was surprised at the response.

I was thinking the same thing about it being so quiet. I think part of it could be how long this house was rumored it could have possibly taken some of the initial excitement out of it. On my part I hadn't said any about the announcement because I'm still trying to decide what I think about the potential of this house. A&D is great and can find the potential in any property. I usually look forward to this house, although I have some concerns about this one. The scare zone was fine, it wasn't my favorite last year, but it was good for what it was. I'm concerned about it's translation to a house though. It already felt like a tight fit in Sting Alley, and being moved into a house will feel even tighter. I'm worried if the size of the costumes could negatively affect the house. I'm thinking the scares might have to come from victims more than the klowns themselves. I just feel like this is on the lower end of my anticipation list.

Absolutely and it is something that kinda makes me nervous as well yet completely excited as they might really have to think outside the box to make the Klown scares effective. HHN scares are all about a quick gesture with sound and the Klown outfits are way to big and cumbersome for rapid movement. I am highly curious as to how the scares will be done. Absolutely they will use some victim scares but the whole house can't be victim scares the Klowns themselves will have to scare at some point.

  12. I am super excited for Killer Klowns!!! However I was extremely disappointed with the translation of Trick 'r Treat from zone to house so I hope that doesn't happen to KKFOS. But what I am more surprised is how quiet this forum is after a house announcement, it usually blows up after a house announcement.
