Figment1988's Opening Night review

I began opening night by waiting for house of horrors, after seeing that the Alice Cooper house opened first, i was disappointed for not making that choice (but i would end up regretting this as soon as i left HOH). But House of horrors was good, especially the crouching section which almost felt like a military basic training drill with the monsters above you.

As soon as I left HOH, it was pouring like crazy, but it slowed down for a little bit. Then i moved to Alice Cooper (after having my Pal Mickey "retreat" inside my backpack, and putting on my raincoat).

Alice Cooper's house was good, but it's quite reserved for most who have listened to some of AC's songs in the plot department.

Penn and Teller's Newk'd Vegas was when the rain really hit the fan, and it was pouring like crazy, but waiting in line was worth it, since while i was waiting in line, the actual Penn and Teller were being escorted out and Penn was shaking everyone's hand (including mine) and thanking them for waiting in line, and the house was worth it. The chromadepth 3D effects were great and the button gags were a great touch to the humor.

Next, I went to Walking Dead, which was ok, but of course since it was still daytime (despite the rain), the pathway was too easy to see, but at least some of the zombies did target Duffy (Pal Mickey's Scareactor Target partner) a couple of times.

Dead End was next, and it was funny because one of the house ops in the "naruto orange" shirts said i was "traumatizing Duffy", but i told her that he was used to it (since he did make his ST debut last year). The house reminded me for some reason of Legendary Truth: The Wyandot Estate (i don't remember how it was actually called), with the overall atmosphere.

Next up was Gothic, which had that "classic Castlevania" appeal with the whole atmosphere (especially in some sections), and the gargoyles were quite spot on, but for some reason, their appearance reminded me of both the gremlins (from the Gremlin movies), and oddly enough, Stitch. but it was good.

I finally went to silent hill, and it did share lots of elements from the games (such as some of the common enemies). I really can't say much since it is unique in its own right, along with requiring multiple visits to really understand it.

so despite the rain, Duffy and I managed to enjoy HHN 22's opening night... even if the rain was an ironic reminder of last year's opening night. And since i do have the FFP +, i'll be back with the hopes that the houses do get some improvements, not to mention that Pal Mickey will appear in the next visit.

Good review write up. I am telling you Penn and Teller are like the COOLEST celebrities that are out there. They truly love their fans and as I have said in the online chats here several times. If and when you see their show out in Vegas, you will see that they wait outside the show to meet EVERY guest who wants to shake their hands or talk with them. The BONUS of this meet and greet is that you actually get to talk to BOTH Penn AND TELLER, something you are not used to as his side kick never speaks on camera. Just a awesome pair of guys and I am so glad people got to meet them in the line at the event. I doubt they will be their both weekends, but I am hoping to see them next week, Sept 27-30 at the house...
