I don't see them ever dropping the number of houses. You have to remember, each house that is open increases the number of guests they can allow into the park by quite a large number. Capacity is also a huge issue especially towards the end of the run. Removing a house will make things so much worse and we will probably see a lot more "sold out" nights. They don't want "sold out" nights. They don't want to turn away money. They will just keep expanding the event. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they give us 10 houses this year. Not only is that great for marketing, it also gives guests a higher perceived value for their money. Also, the more houses they add, the more the event becomes a two night experience to see it all which again, is more money for Universal.

They can add tents just about anywhere and snake the queue in some crazy directions. That years Chance house proved they don't need a permanent structure to hold a house. See my Jimmy Falon house location post above for what I mean.

I was talking with a person last year from the park team that designs these things, and wad told they have more places to take the event to 10 and beyond so we will just have to see. someone posted a pic of a new structure being built where the chance house was last year. it's still early.

  2. yep I think you are right about the dates but if you look at the VIP lounge on last years web site the dates from last year are still up and there were only 24 nights last year. I think you are counting employee preview.

but I do think you are right on the dates for this year.

now all I have to do is figure out how we are getting down there this year. I think we will try to come down 10 /23 - 31 if I can figure out how to pay for it.

i believe our freinds from the NE will be down there during some of those dates if not all.

The dates should look like this.

    September 23, 24 (Opening Weekend)

    September 29, 30, October 1, 2 (2nd Week)

    October 6, 7, 8, 9 (3rd Week)

    October 13, 14, 15, 16 (4th Week)

    October 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 (5th Week, "Hell Week")

    October 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 (6th Week)

    Total: 24 Nights

One less night than last year! I don't think they would add Halloween the 31st seeing as its a Monday.

In 2012, Halloween is on a Wednesday, however I believe HHN will end on October 28th in 2012. We probably won't see a Halloween at HHN till 2014 when its on a Friday of closing weekend that year, the event would end on November 2nd. Of course, the powers that be could change all this. :)

  3. I don't mind houses like Die In, the i-con house 19 ripped from the silver sceen was a fun house some movies will not be enough to make a house, but have a scene out of several houes if done well are enjoyable to me. the best years have been when there is one theme like 15 were the house and streets work on each other. the first year body collectors was the best version of the body collector franchise. having a couple of movie houses is enjoyable too, and evaen better if it fits the theme like Doomsday, and one of my favorite houses Dead Silence.

I know Universal has been impressing upon us that this will be a farewell year for many icons and traditions, and I really do hope that they stick to their guns on it. I'm all for starting fresh and wouldn't mind if Jack, the Caretaker, the Usher, the Storyteller, and the Director were put into storage for a good while. Even under-utilized icons like Mary, Eddie, Cindy, Darkness, Terra Queen, etc. should probably ake a break for now. Again, love'em all, but seeing new characters will be more exciting.

Old franchises and houses need to be concluded too. No more Psychoscareapy, Body Collectors, All Nite Die-In, Treaks, Chainsaw Drill Team, etc. Don't bring back Midway of the Bizarre, Deadtropolis, or whatever favorites fans may have.

Looking at HHNXX, there are some interesting ideas that could develop more in future years. The most obvious new franchise would most likely be the continuing story of Z-Day from Zombiegeddon and Zombie Gras. I don't immediately recall HHN having a reaccuring zombie franchise, and it seems you could imagine some good houses or zones from seeing how Z-Day has affected various parts of the country.

I'd love to see Havoc's Dogs of War take it to the streets. Give'em a scarezone!

The New Yorkshire setting from Saws 'n Steam seems like a ripe idea too. I'm not really a fan of steampunk, but making a house out of that theme could be cool.

Legendary Truth could be a neat franchise too. Not saying there will be constant haunted houses, but maybe the houses can take place in different investigations exploring bizarre phenomenon (UFOs, cryptozoology, etc.) Very X-Files like.

  5. They do a voodoo like in Jurasic park and it sucked, not only as a house, it was hard to be s scare actor in that jungle like enviroment, bugs, and it was hot.

I hope the do more Universal movie houses. I loved dead silence, doomsday, Pyhco, and I would like to see a ZAP street. I don't what them to buy other movies but use Universal films to keep the cost down. a van helsing house would be fun. and the Museum house they talked about in the VIP lounge extreame houses, with an elevator and differant levels with differant exibits would be a cool house.

and now that Bush has done an extreame house, does anyone think HHN will do one?

I am extremely glad they did the day of the dead scarezone this year, I remember there was a thread about it in the Vault, and now I wish they did a voodoo house/scarezone

a voodoo doctor, I think a house based on a swamp would be amazing,

Does the departure of the Director and the Usher means no more "movie Scene" houses for a while? I really liked their houses, just wondering about this

  6. you also have to thank harry potter for the increased attendance this year, people that came for HP that didn't even know HHN was there and they went to it as well.

but I siad that last spring.

You're right Fear should remain back in the shadow, but he was a great publicity stunt, they was way more people last year than any other year (except for BM) I could tell I've went to every event and just by looking 2010 was alot more people than any year, although 17-18 were really pouplar but still, I know they're going to bring back Fear to attract more vistors, but you never know, but I think they got the point that most HHN forum sites, that FEAR was LAME! The anticipation and build up to the event with Fear was better than Fear HIMSELF, I loved BM, Usher and all of them, but if Fear controlled them, they were whimps. Fear is an icon that should be a one time thing with the exception of reuoin. Sorry I'm rambling but still that was my two cents. Have a Sweet Nightmare, and Happy Speculating.

  7. I have done the tour every year they have been offered and yes the usual houses they take you through is the ones in the sound stages, and the Wednesday tours with the Q&A is very informative.

This is awesome. Kind of regretting my decision to go closer to the end of the event, but at least I'm going all in all. Definitely going to do the UTH tour again this year, but I wonder how much more in-depth can you get for the "Lights On" maze tours.. and exactly which mazes will be featured.

I'm guessing that it'll be the soundstage mazes, but it wouldn't really seem right to exclude the Horror Nights maze out of the tour..

  8. I just what to point something out to you clockwise people. if you are going to the AP holder party on the first 2 weekends you will only have access to the 2 tents and the parade building during the party and preferred seating for the first Bill & Ted show, so if you plan to attend you will most likely go counter clockwise during the first 2 weekends, but hay you go which ever way you what it's a free country. it just seems more efficient to go CounterClockwise if you go to the AP party.

  9. We are still meeting up at Bob Marley’s in city walk on opening night?

    What time will we meet?

I what to be where opening scareamonies will be held, so if it is going to be in the park I what to be in the park before close, and if it is like last year with the vampires in from of the gate, I what to get a good spot to stand or sit to watch. This is our first opening scareamonies. we have went every other week of HHN, and what better year than XX to see opening scareamonies.

20 days till we land in our favorite vacation spot.

    The Vampire Lover

and not those ones that sparkle in the sun,

the only thing a vampire should do in the sunlight is burst into flames.

  10. yes I was told the same thing on my tour that year, that the photo in the foyer of Sreamhouse was his child Cindy.

the photo was a prop and it was used in dead silence the next year, so does it really matter if it was Cindy or not? and as someone has already said there are many possibilities why her hair was blond in that one picture of her. oh here's a good one , her hair was blond till she died and it mysteriously turn black at the funeral home, and once she rose from the dead it stayed black.

Cindy has black hair. The photo of her blonde is a screen shot of her when she was on "Toddlers & Tiaras".

Cindy did have black hair in the coffin and in the scarezone last year. However, I do remember on the tour them saying that it was Cindy. Personally, I think it'd be cool if Caretaker was a creepy old perv who took advantage of kids but that would never happen. This world is too PC. :(

  11. Hay People this is a Speculation tread correct? And we are all speculating here. So can we stop bashing other people’s Ideas, we all have a right to our opinions, if you don’t agree or don’t like someone’s post ignore it, or say what you think, please just do it with respect for others right to their opinion. But no has the right to discount someone else’s opinion even if you don’t agree with it. You know I served in the military many years ago, so the people of the fine country would have that right, it’s called freedom.

  12. last year they didn't open HRRR during HHN even though it was on our AP holder flier we received in the mail about HHN 19.

I was reading the express pass information for during the day and they are still not allowing express passes on HRRR.

that being said, I wonder if they will have the ride open during HHN XX.

    what you guys think?

  13. the tour last year was $40 incudeing tax

the tours were 15 people last year.

    there is last years info.

    hope this helps

I wanted to take the UTH tour last year but was unable to due to the short notice of the tour's existence (our plans were already in stone). Hopefully this year we'll have a chance to do it.

Some questions for those who have done it in the past - do they typically offer them the first weekend? (The day I'm looking at is Saturday, September 25th)

How much was it last year for the most basic tour? (3-soundstages)

There is an 18-year-old accompaniment restriction, correct? Meaning I'll need an adult of that age to accompany me if I wish to take the tour? (I'll be 17 at the time)

What time of day have the tours been offered? Ideally I'd like to go to the event opening night on Friday the 24th, take a tour in early afternoon or morning on the 25th, and then use an After-4PM Islands pass before heading over to the event again that evening.

Thanks for any help, glad the tour is most likely coming back!

  14. My guess is around 189.99, when I was tryimg tp buy my FFP+ she said something about a ticket price of 180 something.

and I said no I what the FFP+ and the web site says 74.99 with my AP discount. then we were disconected.

but after 2 hours and 3 calls I finally have our FFP+s.

The FFP with Fridays is only $75 with an annual passholder discount, I wonder how much the one with express will be?

  15. maybe the reason they don't put masks on Chainsaw wielding actors in the streets is a safety issue. they don't what their vision impaired while chasing people around a scare zone.

I got hit just above my left Eye by Chainsaw santa in black chrismas house a couple of years ago. it left a small scare, which is like a HHN memory forever. I'm still not scared of chainsaw actors.

    75 days I can't wait

mmmmm I don't know, I don't see a problem if they had chainsaws in more than one scarezone, HHN always has them,

The only thing I kinda wish sometimes is that they gave the scareactors with chainsaws a mask or something, I don't know, kinda like Eddie, but for all of them, sometimes the red blood paint alone just doesn't do it for me, I also kinda wish they used the stuff that was used for the movie Hostel, the mask and the leather gloves, it would look really cool.

  16. hey true Blood is not even close to Twilight, my wife watches it and I catch an episode hear and there. I hate twilight, Vampires don't sparkle in the sun, they burst into flames. at least in TB the vampire's don't go out during the day.

OK it's got a love story in it like twilight, that's the only comparison I see, and of course that there are werewolf's too. and yes I have seen the first 2 twilights unfortunately, I had too see it with my wife. the second only because my wifes girlfriend from out of town didn't come up opening weekend and my wife had already bought the tickets, I will not see the third one.

TB is a HBO property so I don't think we have to worry about a TB house. haveing the true blood drink would be kind of cool

True Blood??? no offense but that sounds ridiculous the show has no concept and is just twilight with a twist.

This is an idea that i like and would support

  17. we really don't know anything yet and most of you are talking like you already know what we will have and not have, till the park officially releases the house names we will not know much about this years houses. I will say I read on FB that someone was cast in Hollywood as bloody mary, now I am pretty sure US reads posts on FB, and evan here, and telling people what your role is dangerous US has fired employees caught leaking info before it was released to the GP.

the people who have worked at US for many years know better, and may leak false info to distract us till they release the real info.

    thats all I'm saying.

78 days till we get to see what they have really done.

  18. and wasn't it in the old Nickelodeon studio that Blue man is in now?

that was the first year they did the UTH tour and My wife and I were on the first of those tours, and they wouldn't let us take pictures till 06 unfortunately.

I also remember being taken into the tube above the sound stage and they had the floor plans out and you could see over the top of the 2 houses. Only one of the side of that mirror house was ADA (for wheelchairs ect.)and they only used one side on non-peak nights. I don't think they have done that again since then ether. too expensive I bet. it's better to put 2 differant houses in one sound stage instaed, I guess.

Where Evil Hides was the name, it was also a mirror house to.

  19. I don’t remember the house name, but in 05 wasn’t there a house were you went upstairs into the attic and the story teller was sitting there in her rocking chair and the scareactor was on a bed of nails.

I heard that Where Evil Hides in 2005 had a section that went slightly upstairs, but not to the extent of being a whole story above the ground.

And for anyone wondering about the shark in Disaster, that's a fake movie prop used as part of the queue. I believe it was built on an old version of the animatronic blown-up shark from the end of the Jaws ride (the front looks exactly like the charred shark remains that float by the boat).

  20. thanks.

then I guess I will miss it the first night the main reason for doing opening night for us is experianceing the opening scareamonies, as long as they do it with the GP. it would be cool if they did something inside the park for AP holders before they open the gates. will will have to see. no, not another thing to wait for. we have some much to wait for. AP ho;der priceing, the event's theme, and what they will be offering for UTH tour/RIP tours. it's too much I can't wait anymore. :)

    just kidding. a little :)

    86 days till opening night

I believe they had it for 2 weekends.. not too sure on that. I know they did it both nights I was there for opening weekend. We did miss out on the thing at the gate with the Vampire's Assistant Actors, but hey.. we were in there doing houses :)

  21. To add onto what Liz said, you HAVE to RSVP before you go, and you have to have a Preferred or Premier Pass. Those are the only ones that will allow you to enter. Also, every annualpass holder is allowed to bring in a guest, but they also have to RSVP them. I think the Gates opened for us at around 5 last year, and the line got long. They opened Kidzone and we could do SS and Chucky as much as we wanted and there were discounted drinks. I think that's about it lol.

then on opening night last year did they have a AP holder thing? if so did you miss out on the thing they did at the gate with the vampire's assistant actors?

this is our fist time going opening weekend, but not our first HHN by far this is #8 for us.

  22. There up now for Sept. and Oct.

the latest they have ever done this in the 9 years I have been comming down to Orlando in the fall, and they only put sept and Oct hours. I still think it's funny that they have been so involved with HP to update the park hours and it's only 64 daays till sept first, in this economy people have to plan farther out for their vacations, and I know for myself I never plan to go on vacation with only 60 days to plan the trip. and with this economy some of us have to stat planning as early as possible.
