Thank you for confirming, my work blocks twitter. My friend told me this morning that Hollywood was laying some heavy music hints so I was just operating under that impression.
That being said, since they were asking about pre-80's horror, I would assume the classic monsters in some capacity. Unless they were not talking about movies in which case we have a whole pantheon of horror literature to sink our teeth into.

Holy crap. In 4 years there were 7 seasons of the show? (did very minimal research and found a youtube channel with every episode called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents")
Being mass produced like that, does anyone know the quality of the show?
Sorry, when you said your original statement, I thought you meant an actor of Hitchcock in every single room. That might be a bit tricky. Lol
It was a lot more crime and clever twist related than horror related (although some of the twists felt very horror-ish).
Two examples (I do not have episode titles as I saw these a long time ago, but I remember these two very clearly):
A man is on trial for vehicular homicide and the lawyer goes to great and very underhanded lengths to prove that the star witness is in no way reliable because of their vision, and ends up getting his client cleared of charges. Meanwhile, the wife of the lawyer finds out that the lawyer has been cheating and decides to take action. She runs the lawyer over with her car with the former star witness as the only one who sees the crime happen. When the police arrive, the witness simply said, I would like to tell you what happened, but this man has just proven in court that I am legally an unreliable witness.
A woman who is in prison for murder seduces the prison undertaker and talks him into smuggling her out in a coffin with a dead body and then digging her up later so they can be together. She hears of a death and goes to the mortuary and climbs into the coffin and gets buried alive. As she starts to run out of air she gets nervous and uses her lighter to see in the dark, only to find out that the body in the coffin with her is the undertaker.
That being said, I do not see them using the show as a basis for a house, but more his half dozen creepy movie scenes. If they are not planning on running it like Bloodengutz or Silver Screams, it could also work if they went the Poe route and made a fictional backstory to Hitchcock as to where his inspirations came from.

Out of curiosity, have they ever done a house based upon an evil painter or painting? After watching the latest episode of Sleepy Hollow, I would love to see a house about a painter whose self portraits are him killing people through the years and how places where these paintings have hung all have had strange murders with no killer ever found. We could enter an art gallery and witness a few paintings move (using projection mapping, WWoHP trickery, or just plain old Pepper's ghost) and as we journey through we see the painter killing the art snobs touring the gallery of his work. Part way through the house, we enter into one of his paintings and are pursued through his watercolored world of death.

There were no mirrors tricks in Reflections of Fear. It was one of the house's biggest failure. The closest we came was the office two way mirror, I believe.
Freddy had a fantastic mirror maze in 07. There are many myths and legends (beyond Mary) that could be used as a base for a concept. Oculus plays off of a real cursed mirror story (I believe). While not based on, the idea most likely stems from cursed mirror stories. I'll see if I can find one of the legends.
Myrtles Plantation has a "haunted" mirror. I can't seem to find the one which was linked to deaths that I vaguely remember reading about years ago. I'll keep looking.
I thought of Myrtle's Plantation too. That would actually be a good way to combine both the mirror trickery and haunted house into one. The backstory could be that the mirror has trapped so many spirits over the years that they are finally overflowing into the house itself. The last few rooms could be us journeying into the mirror itself.
Edit: This story would not HAVE to be plantation set or a house proper (see Legacy's pagoda idea or the aforementioned haunted vessel).

That's not my point. My point is, they can use a similar concept to another house and just spin it a different way. I am in no way suggesting I want a Westworld house, but a house inspired by Westworld could be interesting. It could even be a kick butt dark comedy house that allows them to make fun of a Disney-esque ride gone wrong (killer pirate robots anyone?).

Let's be honest... An "animatronics come to life" house is the exact same concept as any "non-living, humanoid creature come to life." Like a house filled with living dolls.
Basically, Dollhouse of the Damned is your animatronics house.

Happy to hear we might be getting a Dark Christmas house. If we only get 3-4 originals again, I hope this is one.
The only thing I'm holding out hope for is a quality Hitchcock house, although I'm worried about continuity between rooms.
As far as the Hitchcock house goes, I always pictured using either The Director or The Usher as the framing device for the house. Of the two, I lean more towards The Usher as it would allow the Universal Palace Theater facade to make a comeback and we could have the little transition rooms between each movie. I realize we only have Jack confirmed, but this house seems like the perfect way to pull a few more icons in.
I too would love a Dark Christmas/Krampus house. That could be truly amazing. To add to the idea of Icons serving as framing devices, The Storyteller could be the host of the Dark Christmas house

the problem is that people are expecting it now. the masses have been shown that Universal is willing to sacrifice all the street zones for WD and they were willing to go as far as to make the biggest house ever made
going to a regular sized house now would be like going from eating a 5 stars steak to eating beef jerky, the word of mouth that helped HHN with the WD fans before could hurt HHN if they don't deliver something as big. At least, that's how it feels to me. I might be absolutely wrong but I could imagine the comments from the WD first timers "how come the house is so tiny now?"
maybe I am over thinking it too much but It just feels like if they don't do something as big they risk losing some of the newer fanbase
The 'biggest house ever' line was really more of a gimmick than anything else. There were transitional hallways that they still labelled as 'scenes' to pad the roomcount. Add to that the fact that they counted the entrance as a scene.
Honestly, the house felt no bigger to me than 2013's house and I have to imagine that had they not said 'biggest house ever' no one would have even thought it was longer. I feel like when they do it again this year they may just advertise it as 'the most detailed' or 'the biggest special effects' or 'we finally have character rights!' to fuel the marketing push. Because really, it is all about perception, not reality.

my biggest problem for next year is just how will they top the WD house or experience of previews years... I've said this before, but What will they do next? what's there to do? as far as out doing themselves
i still think about it... what will they do to surprise WD fans?.... what can they do?
See, to me, that is not a problem. My guess is they cannot outdo what they have done so therefore it will be a house that pales in comparison. If the house is less maybe the GP will finally tire of TWD being at the event and we can finally get rid of it and move onto something else.

Yeah, I want a Nightingale's sequel too, but I do not want to see it be WW1 or WW2. I would rather they go with a castle siege situation or the natural disaster route.
I was just trying to point out that there are so many BETTER things they could be doing with zombies.

I am reading a WW2 memoir called With the Old Breed and this excerpt made me think of the type of zombie house we COULD have if they would just drop TWD:
"I catalogued in my mind the position of every feature on the surrounding terrain. There was not vegetation, so my list consisted of mounds and dips in the terrain, foxholes of my comrades, craters, corpses, and knocked-out tanks and amtracs. We had to know where everyone, living and dead, was located. The position and posture of every corpse was important, because infiltrating Japanes also would freeze when illuminating shells lit up. So they might go unnoticed among the dead.
I imagined Marine dead had risen up and were moving silently about the area. I suppose these were nightmares, and I must have been more asleep than awake, or just dumbfounded by fatigue. Possibly, they were hallucinations, but they were strange and horrible. The pattern was always the same. The dead got up slowly out of their waterlogged craters or off the mud and, with stooped shoulders and dragging feet, wandered around aimlessly, their lips moving as though they were trying to tell me something. I struggled to hear what they were saying. They seemed agonized by pain and despair. I felt they were asking me for help. The most horrible thing was that I felt unable to aid them."
Given 2009's War of the Dead scarezone, I think this could make a killer zombie house. Heck, make the finale us trapped in a trench about three feet high(putting the action around us at waist level and leaving us little room to run) with bodies and scareactors laying on the ground on either side of us and a strobe that goes off every so often simulating the firefight around us.

Phantasmagoria got me thinking. I wonder how many people remember the old Phantasmagoria games from Sierra back in the day. They'd make a pretty sweet house, but I highly doubt enough people remember them.
Man, talk about a throwback. Piggybacking off of that, they should do an evil magician haunted house. Given how many magicians they have had come through the event, it would make sense to have a house based off of one gone insane. Using "Wizard of Gore" or "Phantasmagoria" as a blueprint would be a great idea.

Looking at that survey, a personal Yay, Okay, and Nay. Will be ranking in a "IPs are definitely coming back" style.
Yay: TCM, AHS, NOES, Bill and Ted, Icons, Classic Monsters
Okay: Rocky Horror, P&T type Magician show, The Strain (Don't watch it, so it automatically goes here), Ghostbusters (Would be a 100% hit or 100% failure the way I see it), Horror Themed Rock Band, Hitchcock (Haven't seen too many Hitchcock movies, but I do think he could fit), Carnival Style Freak Show,
Nay: The Walking Dead, Hannibal (Don't see how this would work),
Surprised Friday the 13th wasn't on that list considering NOES and TCM.
Looking at your list I agree with some of what you say but I do not see the practicality of some of the options they have put out there. I am not trying to attack or single you out, you just happen to be the first person to address both things that I have been thinking about since taking the survey in one post so it is easier to reference you than anyone else.
I really hope AHS does not happen this year. They are already bringing back Jack and possibly doing a freak show, so what would they do for AHS? Marketing rules, so they would have to do either the current season (which they seem to have covered with inspired by elements) or a best of house (which would be all kinds of disjointed).
Now that I bring up a best of house let me address another disagreement, your statement that Hannibal could not work. In all honesty, I think this property is tailor made to a best of house. A queue video setting up the various killers and showing Hannibal having sessions with them. Enter the office of Hannibal Lecter and see him interviewing a psychotic patient and then we get to the best of scenes of all the killers he has created. Our finale is a two parter as we see Hannibal preparing a very human looking meal in the kitchen and transition into the dining room for a final cut. The formula would work, but it is not my first pick for a TV horror show to be featured at the event (Sleepy Hollow, The Strain, and Z Nation).
Personally, I do not want the New Line slashers back as I think there are other slashers who have not been done before and deserve their time in the spotlight (Candyman). I never got the see the New Line slashers, but I am fine with that.
As far as a magician and RHPS goes, please no. RHPS does not have the interchangability of B&T so it does not have quite as sustainable of a formula. Magicians have been done, and done, and done, and I am fine with them not being done again until the 30th. Bring in a horror themed rock show or the freak show instead.
And finally, after the crowds this year, no parade. Cool idea, but the execution would be very difficult.

I wish we had some way of knowing, generally, what the surveys said were the best houses. Being able to know how people saw the houses would be very interesting to me.

Or just ignore the lantern completely, say GnG rebuilt Jack and that he took over the factory and rebuilt his old friends. There, everyone's back and there is no silly lantern involved.

An actress in Bayou of Blood did this to both my wife and I on separate nights at different times. It was the same actress both times so major props to her.

I know they reuse props. I just never noticed and maybe thinking its a clue for next year since they have the Chucky Vinyls on sale. Just a thought. I could be over thinking it and they just threw it in for shits and giggles. xD
I am not saying Chucky will not show up next year (him and the Cryptkeeper were two of the better parts of the 20 scarezone) but I would not get my hopes up too high. After all, there was a Jack vinyl last year and look at Giggles and Gore...

To expand upon this, A&D often reuses props (the statue of a lady that pops up almost every year, the cerberus in Roanoke, the crows, etc.) and the chance to reuse the beloved Chucky in a house where it would actually fit (see my Roanoke example above) was too good to pass up. Most of them A&D just like and they put them in the houses because they know that the diehard fans are keeping an eye out for some of the concealed props.

I only saw it because I knew where to look for it after going on the UTH tour. For those who do not know, it is on the right on the ground among the debris in the 'Make you pretty' freezer scene. Also of note, the blocks spell 'JUST DIE'.

I am curious if it would be profitable for them to run a dual park event?
Look at it this way, with a one park event they are able to keep IOA and DA open for regular day guests until 8pm without any HHN people intruding. These types of guests most likely came specifically for the parks and have zero interest in HHN so they are buying merchandise tailor made to their in park experience.
While HHN does good numbers, the most crowded nights recently have been ROF and FFP nights meaning that a lot of people have caught onto the value of those tickets. The type of ticket they buy is cheaper than a regular 3 day ticket so right up front you are not making as much money. HHN people are most likely buying HHN merchandise and not concerned about any other merchandise within the park as they most likely are AP holders or have already had day admission to UOR.
Running a two park even also ties their arms a bit as the next HHN year might not be as popular and they have to close BOTH PARKS early for the event. By having both open and running, they are raking in more money (albeit, at HHN guests and guests without parkhoppers expense).
The only possible spoiler is whether or not DA and IOA were busy during HHN this year. If they were not busy, then yes a two park event might be possible as it would allow them to let more people into the event.
If they do run a two park event, I would expect the prices to go up quite a bit to match the added attractions they would need to staff and to give themselves a bit of a cushion if the event is not as popular as this year's.

I did not receive it myself, but I heard a new survey went out about HHN tickets and I was wondering if anyone had some screenshots or remembered the numbers? I heard a new way of structuring the express pass was in the survey, but my friend did not have any numbers (or bother to remember the; bad friend).
