  1. I think it needs to not really be a play on words, just a kind of eerie name Like Mary Agana or Elsa Strict you could not tell who they were based off their name. First I think we need to come up with HIM and his name will fall in place. What time era do you want him to be from? based on the fact you chose the name Jack lantern, I am thinking like an irish man or irish immigrant farmer. Like wizard of oz ear dusty crops, small town...possibly Carey, Oh ;-) lol what do you think? I need these to know who I am designing lol. Maybe almost make him a scarecrow-esque man? and if we make him like that he can be called The Farmer or The Reaper....(maybe a harvester of souls?)

  2. I liked the voodoo theme better, but if everyone else likes it i guess I will go with it. BUT, we need to change the icons name. It is too cheesy for HHN. (i.e. changing the name Paul Bearer to Albert Caine) His name shouldnt be a pun, it should just be a name Like Albert Caine or Julian Browning. Plus there is already a Jack icon...

  3. Something old something blue something borrowed something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe? hm.

Excuse me if this sounds strange, but didn't they used to stick sixpences in the shoes of the deceased as well? I remember hearing that somewhere

Either way, it may look like we could all be attending a wedding this October...

No in ancient Greece they would stick coins under a dead persons tongue to pay for their passage across the river Styx into Hades...which then later moved to the eyes (to hold the eyes shut when dead)

I hope to god that we do not attend a wedding. I am so over Jack, I think he is just obnoxious. Granted he has earned his place in HHN and is very much a part of the history, but that is where he needs to stay, in the past.

  4. sorry, Im not familiar with Orlando. But all the mazes cant be the same voodoo. I need to do more research on the topic

The Icon and theme just kind of tie everything in together but the houses really have nothing to do with it. i.e with the Universal Palace the Dracula house did not have anyone resembling Bela Lugosi or have the Usher in it. The UPT theme was to explain what Dracula had to do with the 8 other houses (it was a "movie" pulled from the screen) but once in the house it has nothing to do with the actual theme. The only house that does is the Icon house (Silver Screams last year)

  5. We do need an icon that is very well known so we can sell it. Its hard to think of one since alot has been done before. Hmmm..

The Caretaker, The Director, The Storyteller...none of those were well known and didnt have movie taglines to sell the event and they still went well

  6. You can advertise Bloody Mary because she's scary and known world wide... Not so much voodoo's theme can you see the icon of the year and how are we going to sell him or her to the public? A half naked African who does Voodoo rituals will people pay to see that?

Again you are thinking Africa...DONT! Think 1830 New Orleans, and I wasnt saying Bloody Mary I was using all the ties in. You are just afraid of the challene because you dont have the knowledge on the subject (not an attack, it is understandable because it is not necessarily common knowledge, but fear of the unknown is one of the biggest fear so we could play that up) He would be more in a tattered suit with a top hat, amulets all around him and his face painted like a skull. Make him an ex lover of Marie Lauveu to place him in history with a known person. But he wasnt interested in her helping others and went the other way. I think it really has a lot of potential

  7. Actually voodoo works quite well. You are all thinking jungles of Africa when we really should be thinking New Orleans voodoo, something very big around the time of 1839. There doesnt need to be a jungle house, but you can tie in all houses and scarezones much the way the were tied in with RoF, her patients fears became the houses. So what if his amulets or the gods of voodoo were the themes of the areas...i.e. voodoo dolls could translate to a toy factory house, zombies are huge in voodoo, the god Ghede requires blood sacrifices (we could do a body collectoresque house set in 1830's french quarter, just instead of Gentlemen we have voodoo priests or zombies as the icon house), the god Limba was a cannibal, and the god Sousson-pannan was covered in sores and drank blood (vampires) you guys are looking too literal at the theme. I think it is an excellent idea it just makes you think and we should go the lazy was by using movie based stuff. If you read the speculation thread people hate movie based things because they are unoriginal.

I mean they didnt have a woman afraid of fairy tales with Bloody Mary torturing her, they just used that to hit at what the theme of the house was. I think we should stick with this concept and work thru it and embrace the challenges, not cop-out and go the easy way.

  8. This has nothing to do with anything that's being speculated, but the picture of the octopus on the previous page reminded me of a past house that didn't get to live to it's highest potential. Creatures! was an awesome house, and an awesome idea. But due to the fact that the monsters were so big we never actually got to see many monsters... I'd like to see those monsters some how be used. Doesn't have to be in the same house, but I think they deserve some use. They were really cool costumes! It seems like such a waste to just never use them.

Thank you, someone finally appreciated our house :-) Unfortunately when the creatures didn't fit, they cut them all up and put them in random areas of the house, and the one creature we did have was a HORRIBLE costume to wear. It hurt so bad and I for one would actually turn down a role for HHN if they offered me that one

  9. As the character person do I come up with his back story and everything (cause I have some great ideas, and ways to like houses and scarezones to him) or do I just design his look? I think we should go with an authentic name (Paulo and Julian were names that expressed them as a person) and go with an African name. I see him being New Orleans since that is the closest well known voodoo to FL. I think his last name should be Samedi which is the last name of the god of death and have a couple options for first name...

    Abrefo - "executioner"

Adise - "one who will teach"

Akello - "one who brings forth"

    Berihun - "our guidance"

    Camara - "teacher"

Menelik - "what will he send"

    Oji - "bearer of gifts"

I like Adise and Oji the best and like the irony of the names. (also they are the most pronounceable names haha)

  10. Ya voodoo would be fun, and I think it would be cool to have the magician in a Houdini style straight jacket and when he uses his guests then abra-CADAVER they some how never reappear......SOOOOOO.....Whats the icon and theme?

  11. I belive that this is the 2nd year of a 3 year arc that started with

HHN19 which used movies and introduced a Usher at a creepy theater.

So speculating on that, whatever they do this year will tie into

last years and connect with HHN21, but this was MJR who said this(about the 3 year arc)

With him gone it could be a whole new deal.

The only thing connecting the RoF and UPT is Carey, Ohio right now. (Which was where the Skoolhouse was also, am I correct?) If so then maybe they will just make something take place in Carey again. in RoF it was were Agana was from and in 09 it was where LTC and The Spawing were located, so it didnt really play a huge role, but connected the two (even having Agana's head in LTC) So maybe this year we will see something with Carey again, but I dont see it playing a HUGE role

  12. Cant wait to hear from you all about what characters you need, so am I designing the icon when you decide who it is?...are you all on fbook? maybe that will be an easier place to do stuff because there are notifications haha.

  13. The more I think about it I would like to do character because I am not a drafter, I could set decorate, but dont think I could design a whole maze. I have a history in theatre and costume construction (as I have done costume design and own a sewing machine) so i am familiar with the research for historical characters and can crank out a costume design in an hr or so. I am also familiar with Make up design and application too

  14. I brought this up in the speculation thread, but why is the Overview page on the HHN website the only one with a different background. All the other pages have just a grey spot while the overview page is the facade to Frankenstein from last year. Im not trying to read into it too much, just odd to have one page different. Compare the page to this pic 4051664778_5b594a3a51_b.jpg

  15. "This fall we’re paying homage to 20 years of fear by immersing guests in the horrors of years’ past and introducing them to brand-new frights. For more details, dates and to purchase tickets, visit http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/"

Straight off the OFFICIAL HHN Facebook page. So it is not really speculation anymore that they will be using past stuff, plus for everyone else they will be using new stuff also. So everyone should be happy haha
