  1. Under the Protocol tab the Declaration of Responsibilities have changed a little bit since 2008. A sentence was deleted...

To revisit and examine time-tested myths, traditional folklore and contemporary urban legends with fresh insights and emerging technologies

Maybe the pictures on the opening page will have different titles, than back in 08 (i.e fears, myths, nightmares, tales, urban legends)?

  2. I don't remember which house, I don't know if it was the caretaker's house in 06, But There was a house that had a Room that smelled like dirt really strongly, like fresh dirt, That was my favorite smell, it was really scary too.

I hope they can add the burning smell to the house this year

Creatures house in 08 smelled like dirt

  3. actually... and this will probably freak some out. When they have a viewing for someone who is cremated they usually use a coffin just for the wake/viewing.. then use a simpler box for the actual cremation... thus leaving you with a lightly used coffin... though sometimes they are used over and over...

I was in the Dracula house one night last year with the coffins, and they are in fact used coffins that have had dead people in them and were purchased with a heafty discount, this is why no one can be inside them.....of course I found this out after I had been climbing all over them haha

  4. I wasn't sure t first but I definitely think so because the madhatter was a scarezone person, why stick him in a shadows of the past type house, I thot it would be more of a tribute to the bet houses and then a scarezone to tribute the best scarezones.

And mardi GRAS, I have no idea what to think abotthat, they are just blowing my mind with these names

so yes I believe hey are all or part codenames.

Mad Hatter was in both (I believe if not both then def the last) Scary Tales. SO he was in a house, and that is one of the most popular house series from HHN. And we believe that the Parade building is a history of HHN so it would fit right in.

And I have heard that Mardi Gras is in SF, could it be a return of Midway of the Bizarre?

  5. Shotguy, how is character design going? if you need ideas I will be happy to help

Things got really busy with work and such but I should be able to sit down and sketch now...I need to know what characters specifically are in each scarezone or at least how many and I can come up with them

  6. Think beyond films for your ideas. Trust me, almost everything that you see this year will be original.

Yes but if we have some characters (i.e. Mary Shaw and Chucky) in a street they may also use some movie characters in a house. So movie speculation isnt outta place.

Although I am totally all for a complete year devoid of movie anything haha

  7. Just to let you guys know, I finished the scare zones and submitted them to Agent. I'm happy with what I came up with and hopefully you'll find at least one you'll be happy with too! Special thanks to Director of Horror and Agent for the ideas you gave me and I modified them a bit but still kept a few of your most important points!

After he approves them send me the concepts and how many characters are in each and who they are so i can design them :-)

  8. When I said American Gothic for Sam i meant as in the painting not the scarezone. The scarezone was more 1800's, but yes I still think that kind of feeling works with our theme.

What if you did a house based on The Headless Horseman, but with a twist. How about you make a demon/devil one a lot like Demon Cantina. Although everything tied in that year, not all the houses were same era, so the idea of the house is what will tie it into the icon, not the house itself

  9. eh I'm not sure if I would do another zombie scarezone. They seem to always have a zombie one. But you know what would be kinda of a neat twist? having zombies, vampires and werewolves all in the scarezone and they're either all teaming up or at war with each other and the guests are caught in the middle....

There were no zombies last year or in 2007 as far as I remember, just the MIB ones in 2008. vampires vs. werewolves would be too much like twilight and I DESPISE that series lol

  10. the tagline of the event should be: BRINGING BACK HALLOWEEN, ONE NIGHT AT A TIME.

I like FEAR THE REAPER better.

My concept for the icon was to give him and american gothic look, mixed with scars on his face to resemble a scarecrow (but not actually make him a scarecrow)

What about a zombie scarezone? like Night of the living Dead style (but with a modern twist, like fast zombies) Or a scarezone at the front gate (like where the mirror people were or where Path of the Wicked was for RoF) of corn stalks and short scarecrow crosses with Sam's victims hanging. But they are low enough that they jump off and come at you.

and I could see the tree of death looking pretty awesome towering over where Cirque du Freak was last year. Have the tree look something like the tree from Sleepy Hallow.

  11. Should I do one house themed towards witches, one towards ghost, one toards devils, ect.? Then I could do one house, like The Hallow, that features the witches, ghost, devils, ect. all condensed into one.

If not, then should I connect all the house in some way, like I did with the Gris-Gris for the voodoo theme?

I think all the houses should be some form of connection to the Icon like you did with the gris-gris. I think the traditional monsters (i.e. witches and ghosts and stuff) should be the icon house like The Hallow (mixed with Trick 'r treat) since the Icon strives for halloween tradition.

Then maybe a vampire house could be its own. Zombies I think work better as a scarezone than a house. ....

    ...thats just my opinion

  12. the only thing is that Sam is the name of the icon of Trick R Treat. I think John Hartley is good.

What if you did a house based off of Trick R Treat and not exactly the movie transfered to a maze? That way there is more originality and you can do whatever you want with it and not have to create pictures for the movie...

Sorry if that comes off as harsh, I really don't mean it to, I am just kinda anti-house mazes. Plus the general public has never even seen the movie (as I havent either) and reading the description of the maze would mean nothing more to me than the rooms that were described, I know nothing of the movie

edit: also after reading the plot of the movie (I need to see it, it sounds great) I think it would also be better not not use an exact copy of the movie, because the "pictures" wont be recognizable to most and I think we run a thin line of the Sam character being almost "iconic" and we wouldn't want that. What if you just made the icon house a mix between Trick 'r Treat and the Hallows, then you can use our icon and the one who is killing

  13. Not every house connects completely with every other, it would take a lot of stretching to connect the Fangoria sponsored Leave it to Cleaver with the movie theme last year.

Actually LTC fit in with the movie theme perfectly because Meetz was the supplier of the refreshments for intermission time..."Let's all go to the lobby..."

How many people have that stuck in their head now HAHAHAHHAAHA imagine having to work and hear that almost every day.
