  1. With the event now over, I want to send a special thanks to both casts of Catacombs. You all are AMAZING! If you look at the pre-event levels of the fans expectations of the houses, Catacombs was almost at the bottom of everyone's. Now look at the post-event ranking of the houses and Catacombs is right at the top. Both casts rock! You all did a GREAT job and you deserved to be recognized for that. Know that what you experienced being a part of a Catacombs cast may go down as some of your best experiences ever as a scareactor. You all had something very unique and always remember that in your future years of being a HHN scareactor.

For another thanks, a HUGE shoutout goes to the fans! If not for you, this house affectionately referred to as Cats 'n' Combs may not have been the great success that it turned out to be. For all of your trips through to see us, for all of your combing, creating pecker pins, saying great things about our house, etc., etc., etc., THANK YOU! You definitely made this scareactor's experience very memorable. We did greatly appreciate everything that you all did. Many many many thanks and know how much our hardcore fans were loved by all of us.

To every Firecrew or ABU that was an honorary skeleton, mummified corpse, or plague doctor for one night or many nights, thank you for everything that you all do! Without you all, the house would not have been able to produce the consistency that it achieved.

    And that's a wrap.

  2. I'll turn this into the HHN fan appreciation thread. I want to thank the pecker fans for coming through so many times on our closing yet. You help keep things fun during our long hours. So, thank you for your pecker love. Also, I thought I might have gotten Jake, just a tiny little bit when I popped up to the side of him..not sure. If not, I'll keep looking for you.

Either way, thank you to the fans.

  3. I was in line for catacombs when a shift change happened on opening night. I was probably 15 minutes from going in. I tried to get the line clapping for all of the great scareactors, but they all just looked at me like I was stupid. I remember saying something to the extent of "Wow, you guys sure are respectful" dripping with sarcasm. Our boys do a great job, but it seems as if nobody is thankful for it. I got to see the Hallow'd Past guys and old birdies leave, then all of the new birdies come in most of them holding their prisoners XD. We actually had to split the line so they could walk through us, as the staff member yelled for us to not take pictures. Was kinda cool, I always enjoy seeing shift changes.

I remember that. And I've heard clapping for us coming on and off set. It's appreciated.

  4. Yeah, I'd like to go through House of 1000 Corpses too. Especially since Rob Zombie is designing the maze! But, I'm kind of excited that there aren't going to be any movie houses this year. I love what Universal can create on their own.

Does that mean that in every room, the scareactor will see how many times they can say F#ck in a sentence?

  5. To me it looks like Bloody Mary, There are plenty of people out there with way to much time who do images and things and try to pass them as real...It looks like fan art. Also back in the 90's HHN did Museum of Horror as a House, As sticking to the Theme it could be a return with past scenes of HHN. When I did Museum of Horror in 97 it was many different movie and Tv scenes. They had scene from the xfiles, Scene from Fargo with the wood Chipper, Crazy Family on a couch watching tv the wife looked like John Travolta in Hairspray and someone sprayed water on you in that scene. It was a strange House very different then what everyone is used to know.

Are you sure you're referring to the 97 version of Museum of Horror? This was split into a modern vs. classic so it was basically two houses. The modern side had Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, Candyman, Nightmare on ES, Halloween, Scream, and Tex Chainsaw Massacre. The classic side had Wolfman, Drac, and Frank among others.

  6. Well yes for house/scarezone icons they are regular actor C's... I was in Shadows of the past :D . What I was referring to is if there were to be any type of show, or a prominent icon a la the jack photo-op that existed at HHN17, those could be chosen from this other audition that I posted about.

TJ is 100% correct. When people come to auditions (reunion and standard), some are given the opportunity to come back and do the actor auditions. Not specifically for Bill and Ted, but for a different role that the casting directors may have in mind for you.

  7. For those who've worked in the past when are rehearsals usually held, and how many are there? Also aren't they held after hours when the park is closed? I'm just curious cause I don't want my regular work schedule to interfere with rehearsals and I don't think it would be a good idea to ask for rehearsal days off. Thanks for your help :)

I believe rehearsal times are at 7 p.m. but the dates vary based on where you're cast. When you fill out your paperwork tomorrow, you will see rehearsal dates.

  8. Well to look at it in another way.. What was Horror Comes Home like for Sweet 16, wasn't that a photo op area filled with random past characters with limited scare opportunities also? Wouldn't this be the same thing?

Horror Comes Home was set up as a photo op while it was light was out. When it went dark, it became a scarezone.

  9. Just a word of advice to those who haven't worked the event before and are cast - don't post your role on a website or any social networking outlet. It may also be wise to not share your role title (even the codeword) to your friends until the information on the event is released to the public.

  10. I keep waffling on the idea of going and auditioning...

    My 2 main concerns:

Already work a full time job from 7-5.

Afraid I wont get a chance to actually go to the event.

Maybe I should go and see what they say anyway... even getting the audition off will require me calling in sick xD

I feel your pain. I'm constantly exhausted for about six weeks, but I still love it. Be realistic with your availability. If you work till 5, don't say you can be there at 5. Your availability will determine your call time. If you aren't available until 6, put that. It will limit what role you can get, but better to be honest than be late every day. I'd recommend going to the first audition and getting there super early.

  11. Regarding the sick day, I did get that backwards. Take the day off on the schedule for the event and take the sick day to go to UF-LSU. Hopefully the higher ups are not at the game. :P. But as I understood it, this is a one time pass, but of course do it at your own risk and use common sense.

Or when you start working, you can talk to your ASM and request a day off. Usually, they're very flexible with accomodating if you have a good reason to ask off.

Earlier in the event there are more ABUs available and not many shifts to fill. The longer the event goes, the bigger the need for ABUs as people always drop out. Sometimes after the first night. If you're an ABU and find a location or a cast that you enjoy working with, chances are you can finish out the run in the location if they lose people. A lot of times you can request a particular house or street when it gets closer to the end of the event if you get in good with the performance captains.

Bottom line is that I've never worked for an ASM that hasn't been more than accomodating when it comes to working with your schedule if you need a day or two off. Obviously, if you aren't a reliable team member, this won't be the case because they are under a lot of pressure to make sure things run smoothly. So basically, work hard, show up on time, listen to your performance captains, and always help out other scareactors both on and off your cast.

I hope that helps out if people have inquiries. I don't think I've said anything that much different than other veterans. For those that are auditioning, break a leg. Welcome back to former scareactors and those who are auditioning for the first time. Being a scareactor means you're becoming a part of a special fraternity that many would love to have the opportunity to be in.

  12. Absolutely, I have much respect for the legend SAs of HHN. I will be at the reunion audition, so I won't be there on the 13th, but maybe we will meet during rehearsals or the event. :)

This is always good to hear. There are some vets out there that definitely help out the newer SAs. With my SA run coming to a close soon, it's sorta like a passing of the torch.
