  1. This topic comes up every year, but I think it is getting way too out of hand this year. There were obviously drunk people in every house line I was in last weekend, a woman on line for B&T suddenly raced to the railing and hurled, and the bushes by the Simpson ride reeked of vomit. On the street by the entrance to Saws and Steam there was a bar kiosk, in the middle of the street was one of the ever-present blood-bag nurses, and across the street was a Coors wagon. All within 50 feet of each other. I know the alcohol is a big money-maker for the park, but has Universal finally taken it too far?

Each outlet is supposed to limit you to one drink per ID, but when there are 3-4 outlets next to each other, that rule is essentially meaningless.

I've seen cars weaving across lanes as I leave the park at night.

I feel this year that Universal is pushing the alcohol harder than prior years, and not only is it becoming more annoying while trying to enjoy the event, I think it is only a matter of time before there is a tragedy as people are driving home.

Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just becoming an old prude?

There are just as many bar tents, mini bars in line, and blood bag nurses as there have been previously. Each time I've attempted to get a drink I've had to wait a few minutes for a line to clear, if they were to set up less distribution points for alcohol then lines would increase throughout the park and most likely lead to a profit loss. The area by Saws N Steam is typically bombarded with people, why would you not have a bar kiosk set up there? I've seen that line get 15-20 people long so why not set up a wagon / cart for those who just wanted a quick beer and not a mixed drink? When you break it down the amount of distribution points make sense in relation to the traffic of the given area.

Drunks are a problem, but that's why you have security and police. I see more issues with punk teenagers trolling the scareactors and being rowdy in line, or smoking, or ozone layers depleting, or people who walk extremely slow, or when you're stuck in a 30 minute line with someone who has terrible BO. Now I'm just ranting =]

  2. While I understand why Ops are needed, and while you could never pay me enough money to do their job, they need to use some common sense. I've learned to tune them out when there's no one else in a house in front of me and I'm admiring the details. Yeah, I'm sure some people stop and do something destructive, but puh-leeze! I'm a middle-aged woman, not some punk guy drunk on booze and testosterone. I'd think they'd have the ability to distinguish between a likely threat and someone who is simply admiring the artistry. Please forgive me if I'm wrong and am just unaware of the marauding bands of 40-something sober women who love to tear up the houses.

I loved the Ops in the robes last year, and props to the one who even petted my cat one time when I went through (remember the cat combing?).

I lol'd. ^^^ Roving bands of 40-something sober women wreaking havoc on props

Seriously though, we've all had bad experiences with ops. There's always a "that guy" in these situations. Not every ops member is guilty of this. Yes it is ops job to keep the lines moving, but if I'm already in forward motion 3 feet from the guy in front of me, I expect to not see some derp frantically waving his arms telling me I need to move faster. I've had this same grievance for the last 6 years, I don't care what they're paid to do if they're downgrading the guest experience it's a justifiable issue to complain about

  3. I am planning on RSVP for Passholder Nights this weekend. I have been a year pass holder for years but never tried this. Can someone explain how it works? After you get the RSVP, you check in and get in around 5pm it apperas and have early access to a few houses. Do they kick you back out to come back in when the event starts? Or is it once you are in you stay in until when the event starts at 6:30? Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask the question. Thanks in advance

You'll be allowed access to the kid zone area which will include The Forsaken and In Between, once the park opens you'll be allowed to cross over to the rest of the park.

  4. Also in the nightmaze area. Do you guys think they may run some kind of black tarp over top of the scarezone? I just think light pollution may be bad in that area and kind of hurt the all black effect. I notice there are scaffolds on either end of the scarezone. I don't think they were there a few days ago (could be wrong on that). I just think it would be really cool if they covered the area to avoid light leaking in from other areas as much as possible.

Unlikely, but that would be awesome. I'm sure they'll scale down the lighting effects in the surrounding areas to give it the right feel however

  5. This might be in the wrong topic to ask but I'm struggling between buying the Rush of Fear and then seeing if I could upgrade later to FF or FFP after... or just buy FF or FFP upfront. I lose a few days doing that vs. Rush of Fear at the beginning but my work schedule varies a lot with morning and evening shifts and I hate for those days that I wouldn't have to be the ones where I'm actually free. On the other hand, I'm definitely not going to buy the express pass because I want to go as many times as possible towards the beginning to avoid large crowds/long waits rather than waiting to go later in the season. But does anyone know if I could upgrade to FF or FFP after Rush of fear was over? Money isn't really an issue, I'm just trying to find out the best way to get the most days for the money and my schedule and to maximize going earlier in the season rather than later. Sorry if that was confusing! Thanks for y'all's imput! :)

I don't see them allowing you to upgrade since you're not going from say a FF to FFP or adding express. The cost for RoF is build on you having access to all 3 weeks including days covered by FF and FFP . Best bet is to just give the sales office a call and find out for sure.

  6. I've always loved the ScareFactory robotics, they're amazing! I wouldn't say it's the prospect of guests breaking the devices, it's more in the cost / downtime realm. Most robotic units like that will fall in the ballpark of $2,000-$15,000+ , that's quite a few admissions for a single robotic unit not to mention maintenance. If you think about it....putting a $15,000 pneumatic / robotic unit in a single scene, in a single house and it breaks, you've essentially lost the impact of the room plus you'll have a maintenance worker visible while trying to repair the unit, or they'll leave it broken for the night. They're just risky ventures for guest satisfaction, and considering the risk involved I can see why we haven't seen them implemented. Not to mention you can typically hear the pneumatic actuation from 20ft away on most devices, that would be like hearing the chainsaw 3 scenes before it happens.

  7. The event looks incredible, and now I'm even more depressed that I won't get to go this year. Ah well, at least the speculation and dreaming were fun while they lasted. Can't wait to hear reviews from you guys once you go.

Living vicariously through the forums shouldn't be too hard on you :)

  8. I don't think the prices are too outrageous personally. Florida residents still get good discounts for the one time visits and such. The passes are too bad anyway after you break it down by how much you pay per day. Universal is going to keep capitalizing until they see a definite uproar over ticket pricing and drops in sales. If the ticket increases stop some of the herpderps from wandering in to the event I wouldn't be too upset about it.

  9. Checked out Cigarz last night while I was at City Walk. Pretty impressed with the place truthfully, they have a great selection of beer, had Guinness, Magners, Sierra Nevada IPA, and a few others on tap. Saw 32oz PBR for 2.75 which was pretty stellar for being at the park. Bartenders are pretty liberal with their shot pours as well. Definitely going to hit this place up before HHN

  10. Cider>All

There may be truth to your findings. =]

My graduation was terrible. It started to rain a bit so they skipped right to the diplomas and stuff. And then we did the tassle thing and threw our caps. Then the rain cleared up so they decided to go back and do all the speeches they skipped. And then it rained hard.

    Figures.

That actually sounds pretty hilarious :P Congrats though!

    Anddddd

  11. Definitely chose "Don't care, I'm still going" Leaks and tidbits are pretty cool to get over time before the event. I could care less about the speculation aspect of it, I've waded through too many pages of off-topic nonsensical ramblings for that to be enjoyable. Every year it's always a spectacle when the website finally updates and the theme and houses are released, that's when the hype always kicks up and we all typically get our frenzy of excitement :)

  12. Pre-gaming at Fat Tuesdays is always the best bang for the buck. 190 octane+shot and you're good for a while. Stay away from in park mixed drinks unless you're ordering a double or you know a bartender. Beer is always a safe bet as welll. Strongbow and Guinness.....why didn't we hang out more?

  13. **Tharrr be spoilers matey** Maybe it's just me, I don't go in to B&T expecting Get Him to the Greek v.2.0. Personally, I got a few laughs out of it and that was fine. I expect some scantily clad women (insert men here for the ladies) dancing about, some crude jokes, and some time off my feet. I don't think I've enjoyed the show the same since the 06' personally, but in 06 I was also an HHN virgin and had no idea what I was about to watch. The show thrives off of pop culture, which is basically garbage. The show hit some of the larger topics that happened this year and did fine (garbage in-garbage out). Sure they could have had the situation do a few more fist pumps, replaced Tom Cruise with Russell Brand? Mel Gibson with Tiger Woods? Doubt it would have made the show "better".

This year there were a ton of nuances and overtones hinting goodbye to Mike. Between the B&T montage at the beginning, the corporate "dick" taking over the show and bringing in pop sensations we could care less about, to the music choices at the end of the show. I mean really, Living on a Prayer? "Got to hold on to what we've got, doesn't make a difference if we make it or not, we've got each other and that's a lot", and according to Dr Who fanatics they used the 10th doctor, which they're on the 11th doctor currently, the 10th doctor was only in the show in 2010 briefly and his last words were "I don't want to go."
