[HHN XX Speculation]

OK, I've only been to HHN 5 times (over 6 years...EVERYBODY got married in Oct the year I couldn't make it) so I can't intelligently "guess" at what I think. So THANK YOU to everybody throwing out "educated guesses" as to what's going on this year. Gives me speculation to pass on to my group of friends, and educates me to all the past years I've been unable to attend.

[Photos & Scareactors]

I've only been to HHN 5 years, but here's an HHN virgin who went through the Leave it to Cleaver house and encountered his doppelganger at the end. The scareactor was like, "Wow" and encouraged us to take out a camera and take an In-House Picture. We got yelled at as soon as we walked out of the house by security...but I think you can see the NEED for this pic!

He did the EXACT same set/act both years I saw him. I didn't think he was that great, but we still gave him another shot the second year thinking it would be different...but nope, EXACTLY the same. I think that's what annoyed everybody. People around us were getting up and leaving yelling "we saw this last year!".

Now, while RHPS is EXACTLY the same, that's different. Hell, 25+ years later and Midnight showings of the movie still sell out...and you don't expect it to be different. But seeing a Magician do the same tricks....that doesn't work. You aren't surprised by what he did...or have any nerves about what's going to happen.

I'm heading down in Early Oct...if he's there and I see a post that he completely changed up his act, sure, I'll give it another shot for the sake of being able to say we did EVERYTHING Horror Nights had to offer. But if I see "same set...." I won't go anywhere near it.

[Photos & Scareactors]

I don't mind pictures with Scareactors at all...and what I typically do is pose for a picture by a streetlight or a set car or whatever...in a scarezone. I'd say probably 7 out of 10 times, a scareactor will motion to my friend taking the picture and come in behind us. So we aren't harassing the actor or interrupting anything, but we set ourselves up for a scare or "surprise" when we see our photo later

I am going to make a somewhat wild speculation that has yet to be posted in here. I have a few reasons to believe that Brian Brushwood will be making a return to HHN this year.

Then that will be one show I don't have to see...give me more time in the houses! Saw him the one year and it was pretty boring other than the cell phone joke, then the next year we figured we'd give it another shot...and it was the EXACT same set.

That was the first year we went and that house scared the you-know-what out of us. It also seemed like they allowed the actors to use more "mature" language. I'd probably get banned from the forums if I posted some of the stuff yelled at us in that house since we did it like 10 times over 3 days, but it was awesome.

The Disorientorium (or something like that) was our first year too and crazy with crooked floors and strobes, it was over by Dr Doom's Death Drop and it really messed you up going through it. That would be a cool return house, but they'd HAVE to slow up the line so you aren't in a giant conga line touching the person in front of you.

[How much have you spent at HHN]

TOO MUCH! Ha ha ha.

First time we went, there was 5 of us and we didn't buy a FFP because we were stupid (and up in NY so we didn't see commecials or have discounted tix at grocery stores and stuff). We saw a special on Travel Channel and had to come down. Bought tix for full price for both Fri and Sat...then did a Stay and Scream upgrade for like $50 for another night.

Second year I think we had 8 people...and we each probably spent more money on alcohol than we did on airfare, room and tickets

The other years, I'd say each of us drop about $1,000 for the whole trip. We usually stay for 3-5 nights and do HHN 3 nights...last year we did it 4. Book our airline tickets early and stay at the Best Western Movie Land (or whatever it's called now). It's usually under $500 for airfare, room and tickets. Then probably spend about $100 a day for food, drinks, and misc stuff.

EDIT - should add we pack into the hotel rooms since we pretty much come in and pass out and get up the next morning for when the parks open. We save a lot of money that way since we only get a couple rooms.

[HHN XX Tickets, Pricing, & Dates]

What hush said is what i meant about being on sunday and people having to work the next day, that's what i was wondering but also Sunday being the day that people can get the discount with the Coca Cola can, I wonder if this would also affect the attendance, Probably not, but is a discount night nonetheless

Last year, we got to Florida on Fri Oct 2nd...but our flight landed sooooo late from delays we didn't go to the park that night. We went Sat night and it was DEAD...we got everything done within an hour (we also did the Stay and Scream so got a little head start) and even went on all the rides that night. Did a couple houses as many as 3 times.

The next day was Sunday and we thought it would be dead. We went out for dinner and watched some football and got to the park a little bit after it opened and it was PACKED. Took us forever to get in and lines near the gates at Wolfman were like 45min and Saw was already 90min. It was pretty crazy and unexpected.

Each year there seems to be a "surprise" like that where it's DEAD on a weekend night and then a Thur or Sun is packed.

Sorry if i am a little slow. Let me get this straight? If I buy a park ticket for the day and a stay and scream for the night i can go to finnegans and not have to leave the park and wait in line to get back in? Is there another spot besides finnegans as well? thanks for the info in advance!

That is exactly right...and they usually let you out of the "holding pen" a little before the park is to open. Last year, we did that twice and once they let us out so early, that half the houses lines weren't even open yet. We got 3 houses done without waiting a single second in line.

There is definitely another waiting area, but I'm not sure where it is as Finnegans is the best so we stay there. I thought there was a way to come over from Islands of Adventure by Poisodon's Fury or whatever, but I'm not sure if they open that or not. Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again for the tips guys! Just curious, what do they serve at Finnegin's? I think I saw some picture of one of their entrees (It looked like something fried.) on a MiceAge photo update; it looked pretty good.

You HAVE to get that as an appetizer, it's the best thing ever!

[Which Horror Movie would you like to see as a house this year?]

...since the hint is already "trees", I think Pan's Labyrinth would be pretty awesome. There are really only a few real "sets" and not a ton of characters, but still....having a scaracter chase you with eyeballs in his hands in a funky white spandex suit would be pretty awesome!

I want another 3d glasses/funky house like jacks clown-o-vision in 3d or whatever it was called. The glasses really impair your vision, and reduce the colours you can see, really making the scares you get great.

Couldn't agree more, those weird glasses were awesome! They didn't mess with your sight like "real" 3D glass, but when you went into a room covered in florescent colors and the glasses kicked in, that was awesome. It was just "cool" before, you'd need a bunch of scareactors partially covered in the neon colors to make them jump out at you. That would be awesome.

[If they do bring back the parade..]

Do y'all think this would mean less or small scareazones? I've never seen it before so it might be cool to see something new from HHN's past so to speak, but I'd hate to see it sacrifice areas that could be used for another scarezone, or extend an existing one....

2004 was my first year going (been back every year since except 2007) and I thought the parade was pretty cool. I wouldn't mind seeing it come back...it was an entertaining break from the usual and the beads and coins made for interesting (and free) souvenirs.
