  1. I went Sept 30, Oct 2 and Oct 3 and PsychoScarapy had by far the longest line. Not just early on when everybody ran in the door and did the first two houses, but later on on Friday night, it was 45min when nothing else was over 20min. Strangely, Sunday was busier than both Thursday (not surprising) and Friday. We just got the FFP+ pass so we didn't go Sat night.

  2. Thanks for the link!

Kinda stinks that it's only Thursdays at 8 and 10pm. I'm flying down Wed so I'll be there Thur night, but it will be our first night at HHN and don't think we'll want to this since there's so much to see. By Sunday, we might be ready to try something else, but it it's only Thur that won't work :(

  3. OK, I tried to search for VIP Lounge on the site and got:

One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords.

Searched on Lounge and got no hits. So if this is elsewhere, I appologize.

Just got an email from Universal last night and it had this in there...sounds interesting! Anybody know anything about it? Sounds like it's pretty much a $10 cover charge to get in and it's not something you can purchase/reserve online or anything.

  4. Do any of you know what brands of beer they usually have at the bar stands?

They vary. Some have Bud products, others have Miller Lite and Coors Lite, others still have Fruity Drinks (Like Smirnoff Ice) and last year the one stand in the line behind MIB actually had Fosters Oil Cans! I think that Miller Lime Crap was at quite a few booths last year too. Henekin pounders (not the mini-kegs) were around somewhere too. Each booth doesn't have the same old beer, so look around. It seemed like the queue bars had a wider selection and the "official booths" in the streets and stuff had a more generic BUD or MILLER choice.

Also, I think they change it up from night to night....not sure what the basis is but the first night we went last year there was Miller Lite all over the place (my personal choice) and then the next night, it was nearly impossible to find it! So it's really hit or miss I think.

This is my own personal experience...I have no idea how they organize the stuff so your results may vary :P

  5. Hmmm, after posting the link to the article, I went back just to check it out of curiosity and was surprised to see the 2 pix of FEAR right up top! This AM, the story was different and had just basic pix of the front gate, and the buildings with the lights/shadows of roots on them. Then I saw one of the scaracters and stopped reading down.

Anyway, I saw Fear (REALLY wanted to not see him in his setting, but had seen the released photos and vids already) and think he looks pretty damn cool! Not sure what's up with the XIX / 19 brand on his chest but overall I think he looks awesome. I was hoping he'd be huge or something since they said he didn't look human. OK, he's not human, but he's certainly humanoid and looks like a guy in a suit. Even the old Godzilla looked less humanoid by the padding on the suit and eveything so I'm a bit disappointed in that only because of what they said on the conference calls.

Like I said earlier, when I thought he was just hanging between the X's....I thought he'd have a HUGE wingspan, but considering he's mobile, I think they did a pretty good job and overall I'm VERY happy with the look. I might sound negative because I listened to the podcasts and thought BIG and NON HUMAN so I'm a bit letdown based on their "promises"....but before the podcast last week, this is about what I was thinking. Possible Minor Spoiler: Pleasantly surprised to see the roots are more than on just his head. Overall, very happy...but think they overstated some stuff on the calls.

  6. Is it just me but I can't pin point his facial features? I was trying to draw a full body pic of him and I just can't capture his face right. He seems to look different at different angles.

There are supposed to be some really clear pix of him there...but again, I'm trying to avoid seeing anything before I go a week from tonight! A friend sent me that link and I read the story (saw a pic or two in the article), but didn't look at the photos as the bottom. Might help you with your drawing.

  7. I think some of you guys were expecting more than whats really possible.. I mean, that's EXACTLY how I picture him. What else were you expecting other than stilts? I think he looks awesome!

Are we aloud to take pictures with him?

I'm avoiding the video and stuff, but you can see a vauge outline and it's about what I figured they'd be able to do. Was hoping for something like dracula's wingspan in Underworld 2, but that would pretty much mean Fear wouldn't be able to walk around because he'd be knocking crap over and banging into everything. If he was just "hanging" between the X's like some speculated, I was hoping for a really impressive wingspan.

  8. Oysterhead00 thats exactly what we do. We actually call the people who lay the jigger on the table, fill it, then dump it into the drink "pourers" lol. When we see they are doing that, we don't even order. We go to the next bar.We like the people that hold the jigger at a tilt over the cup and overflow it. I actually go to a awesome bartender named David who seems to work all the special events. I try to find him, he is a very good Bartender! He is very generous, well as generous as a USF bartender can be without getting in trouble. Or we go to Finnegans and look for Jolynn or Dan, the are awesome!!

Glad to see there's another "professional drinker" here! You have the added benefit of being a girl so you probably get better drinks that my group of 8 guys ever will :P

  9. I'm in the same boat you are. Every time I try to ride this damn coaster it's no dice for whatever reason. I've lost all interest in this ride.

If it makes you feel any better, it's pretty lame. The customizable music aspect is pretty cool, and the initial vertical climb is really unique...but the rest of it is just blah. Every time you get going, you hit the break area and it slows you down...really breaks up the ride. We were told the break areas were needed because of the number of cars that can be travelling at any one time and they need to be sure they can stop them if one breaks down. At the very end, there's a cool little section before it flies out of the park, but that's about it.

Last year we had a 5-day pass doing the parks before HHN and we ran in the first day and rode it....and were COMPLETELY underwhelmed. Ran it again to try a different song and that was it. We didn't ride it for the next 4 days

Some may love it, but as old as Hulk is (and as annoying as the back part that just keeps on going and pretty slow) my whole group found it MUCH more enjoyable to start the mornings out by jumping no Hulk when there was zero wait time and ridding it 3 or 4 times in a row .

  10. I had posted this in the XX Discussion thread first before finding this topic on the second page...had updated that entry with the links below. Sounds like it might not be closed 2-3 months, they might just do some routine maintenance and then shut it down for an extended period of time later to do the "big fix". Not sure really, but I live in NY and leave for HHN a week from today so I'm 99.9% sure it's going to be closed the whole time I'm there :(

Couple stories...maybe it's not 2-3 months right now...that might just be when they implement the big fix with the car links. Not sure.

  11. I pretty much stick to beer, but will get a shot just to get one of the glasses. Lots of complaints about weak drinks, but I know my group (usually 5-8 guys) would go to a few different stands and each get a drink and they'd figure out which one was the strongest when it's pretty dead. When it's busy, it's easier to eyeball the stands. There were some people putting a TON of rum in the drinks last year, you just have to find the stands where the person pours the liquor in the shot glass over the cup and lets it overflow. The ones who anally pour it and check the level on the table are going to give you the weaker drinks. There were several different people you could see generously overpouring in several different stands. The people who use the counting method for the pours are more hit and miss and you kinda have to try them to figure out which is the strongest.

  12. Nope, it won't be.

    ORLANDO, Fla.

The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida will remain closed indefinitely, theme park officials said on Monday.

Officials insist the maintenance is not related to a Sept. 2 safety warning from Maurer Sohne, the German steel company that makes the ride’s vehicles. The company warned that the coupling that holds the two cars together may not be “fatigue endurable.”

Universal Orlando said the safety concerns from Maurer Sohne would have been addressed soon after the memo’s release and the ride’s closure was not related to the safety bulletin. However, Maurer Sohne said the repair solution or new design would not be available for two to three months.

Universal closed the attraction last Wednesday and said it was undergoing unrelated maintenance. It said the closure was temporary.

Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder said on Monday that the ride’s extended closure was due to the park’s decision to do annual maintenance on the attraction.

“The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was operating safely when we closed it for maintenance and it will be operating safely when we reopen it,” said Schroder.

No timeline was given for when the ride might reopen.

"We don't forecast when an attraction will reopen from annual maintenance due to the fluid nature of the maintenance work,” Schroder said.

Rip Ride Rockit opened in August 2009.

  13. Another not-really-related topic...but not sure where else to put it...no Rip Ride Rockit at the event this year

  14. last time I was there was labor day weekend and the forbidden journey ride was like an hour i think( i did single riders and had way less but normal line was supposed to be an hour) at least that's what it was like when I went to the ride. Dragon Challenge was like 10-15 minute wait I forget what the sign said but that's what it ended up being. no longer any line when I went last to get into other shops besides Ollivanders which there was a long line just to get into the candy and joke shop when it was newer. Don't know about the restraunt because I didn't eat at it last time. There hasn't been any line at all to get into the overall HP area for awhile now So it's not too bad at all now.

THANKS! Just what I wanted to hear :) All the sites talking about lines stopped updating a month or so ago and wasn't sure what to expect.

  15. Not really related to this thread, but what are the current wait lines for Harry Potter land and the rides. The online wait times haven't been working for weeks and I'm just curious as to the waits. I'm heading there in less than 2 weeks and while I'm not thrilled about Harry Potter, want to check it out for completionists sake since I've done everything else. Just curious if the waits are starting to calm down with kiddies back in school.

  16. O! 4got to ask. Anybody know what the specialty drinks will be this year? Name, color, and price? I love to get my drink on and I just want to get a feel for what i'm in for and plan out my drink/tip finances right you know? lol

XX - Twenty Years of Fear. 20 different shots mixed together with a splash of pineapple juice. It costs $50, but with a one drink limit and guaranteed to !#$% you up!

HA HA HA, just kidding. As long as the beer/shotglasses light up and look cool, I'll be happy :P
