Yeah Disney owns it, yesterday during Murdy's Q&A, someone mentioned to Murdy about AHS and if he was planning on making another one and he said at the time he was in the processing of writing next one but then "something" prevented it from happening and then he put it away, so Disney has put a halt to many IPs that Universal can't touch. Unless someone legit buys the rights fully from Disney, the only thing I could see is an anniversary per say house for Michael basically the best of scenes from H1, H2 and H4 I guess, I mean maybe they'd get away with throwing in 2018 Michael at the end but ehhh, I wouldn't risk it you know.

What I was saying is that I don't see how Disney owns any part of Halloween 2018 since the only thing it was associated with was Miramax and they sold that in 2010. So I don't see what else would stop it from being used this year.

You could've also made a great reasoning for them to do a house in 2018 when it came out, but there's a big reason why they did Halloween 4 than 2018. An it's the same reason why there's pretty much none to the slimmest of chances it's the secret IP this year...

Disney is part owner of Halloween 2018. So it's an IP that's out of reach.

I didn't realize Disney was part owner since the movie was distributed by Universal and produced by Blumhouse and Miramax (which Disney sold in 2010). I figured they didn't do the house in 2018 because the movie wasn't released until October of that year putting it in the middle of that years event and they didn't know how successful the movie was going to be.
