  1. I had the displeasure of going in this maze alone once.. it's a lot scarier when you're alone! When I say alone, I don't just mean without friends.. I mean THE MAZE WAS EMPTY. Ooh, those scareactors got me good in every corner!

Compared to last year, I only saw a couple of new traps. So.. that was a disappointment. Still, the maze has it's pretty good scares and I can appreciate that. ^^

  2. Loved the girl who played Baby. She did her part very well, she really freaked me out!

I really hope HOTC is a keeper in HHN for another year or two. Maybe some of you will side-eye me for saying this, and it's easy to say "No repeats!" but I personally don't believe Universal can afford to have no repeats every year. Recycling is cost-efficient. Although I prefer not to have all repeats.

I digress! HOTC is undoubtedly one of the best and most memorable mazes in my opinion. I've never been in a 3D maze before. Hell, I've never even heard of a 3D maze being done until I heard of the HOTC maze pre-HHN. But being inside one was one of the trippiest experiences my eyes have ever been through! The pulsating walls and neon colored strings and decor made everything VERY disorienting, which certainly didn't negate the scares at all! It was a definite benefit. <3

The scareactors and the costumery was very well done. Everyone looked and played their part very well! I was even surprised to see Tiny on stilts in the maze! I never thought I'd see a scareactor with stilts in the maze. That's very daring, considering there's guests like me who go absolutely frantic when scared. Hope he never gets knocked over. x.x

  3. On a side note, I recommend the mummy part of the tram have guests sprayed RANDOMLY while watching footage of whatever.

Because the funniest mistake happened, the footage of Chucky saying we were going to be sprayed with acid showed, and right when he said acid, PSSHHHH! Everyone got squirted. The timing was WAY off, but we were damn well scared and surprised!

And then waiting for the countdown got us laughing. The driver exited the tram so quick, it was funny. :9

  4. Ugh. I'm hating these cuts due to complaints and budget limits.

Anyways.. this year's terror tram is weak for me. The dolls in concentrated areas are pretty scary and the walk uphill STILL drives me nuts, especially with those well-camoflauged bush men!

The weakest point for me though is in the WotW set, though! Am I the only one who feels it's.. quiet? I've gone on the TT multiple times and each time, it is so quiet. Maybe that's better for more realism? Realism isn't what HHN is aiming for though. I'm supposed to feel like I'm in a horror movie, right? GIMME A SOUNDTRACK! Just being silly. <3 But yeah, some music in that area to put up a mood would be nice.

Sometimes the scareactors in that area are very scarce until you head to the end where the stilt-walkers and more killers dolls (Hello, Havoc! ^^)

On a side note, I found the footage for the TT video a tad cheesy, but I liked how they integrated the backlot fire into the story! I also lol'd at Mr. Murdy's cameo in the video.

  5. Lunaticz has definitely earned the spot of my favorite scarezone this year! I love the pigs, but last year's scaring was a lot more consistent and aggressive down there. Anyways, Lunaticz go hard. The scareactors there will NOT leave you alone! I can't even drink water without a lunatic slamming his hammer on the fountain, scaring the thirst out of me!

One lunatic in particular has a saw and one bare hand.. that guy chases me like crazy so he can feel my afro, lmfao! He gets me every time. If I don't let him, I either get trapped in the bathroom or end up trapped in the phone booth getting harassed by him AND sliders. *Death!*

Lunaticz is my favorite scarezone without a doubt. ^^

I also enjoy Klownz/Nightmarez due to some of the scareactors recognizing and targeting me.

  6. Can anyone tell me the name of the song that plays on the stairway that goes, "Halloween! Halloween!" It's rather fast-paced and has a slight modern rockabilly flair to it. I love listening to it while moving to and from the lower lot. <3

On a side note, it's funny to hear the stairway telling you to shut the hell up.

  7. I am seriously disappointed with the multi-night pass this year. 9 nights..? $60 sounds great, but I need more than 9 for the sake of versatility.

But.. I shared my comments and ideas on the HHN Facebook fan page and the admin running the site replied and stated he will be sharing my comments and ideas internally. Hopefully some changes can be made?

But I honestly doubt anything will change since the tickets are already on sale.

  8. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!

    I've got it!

    M. Night Shyamalan should be the attack word! Or at least shouting compliments about him and his movies.

Curse you, Shyamalan! Seriously though, his movies are terrible. I think his name is perfect fodder for a good and REAL scaring!

Random story: When my friends and I went to the midnight premiere of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World at our local theater, they showed the trailer for Devil. Immediately when Shyamalan's name popped up on the screen, the entire audience began booing loudly and throwing popcorn. It was absolutely hilarious. There is no audience like an audience of nerds! :D

Anyways, this story is to support my suggestion.

  9. Ah, my first year..

Picture it, Hollywood, Studio City, October 2008! I ventured into the unknown horrors that was Halloween Horror Nights with two friends I actively played MMORPGs with! I had heard of HHN since 2006, but never had the bravery and money to go! But ah, 2008 was a year of change!

(You're supposed to be reading this in your mind with a very cheesy and over-enthusiastic voice)

We ventured into the house of horrors filled with.. The Strangers! We explored Krustyland and escaped Sideshow Bob! We rode the Mummy and escaped Imhotep's Curse and nearly dodged the teeth and claws of bloodthirsty dinosaurs!

And finally.. we came face to face with Leatherface in the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE MAZE!

    scaredgirl.gif

I screamed! I shouted! I grabbed onto strangers in fear and apologized profusely! Leatherface was everywhere and the blaring chainsaw noises temporarily turned me into a madwoman!

How relieved I was to see the exit. I frantically rushed towards the exit only to be scared one last time at the Leatherface past the exit!

And then.. THE PIGS! Woo, they chased me good. I actually have some videos of me running for my life and screaming wildly, much to the entertainment of my friends.

We didn't get to do Freddy's maze.. my friends were too scared and I was personally too scared to go alone. As for Bill and Ted.. we didn't even know that the show was there! I'm personally kicking myself for not knowing because I've heard 2008 was the funniest year yet. But still, it really was a great night and was the spark that turned me into the HHN-obsessed nut I am today. <3
