  1. It'd be nearly impossible to get their old maze.

    1) We have different areas with different size proportions so they wouldn't match anyway

    2) It's based off the prequel as where O's was based on the original.

The fucking morons on the FB page are already bitching that it's "not scary." OMG, I wanna punch every one of them in the face...

They wouldn't know a good maze idea if it pissed in their mouth.

Here's the thing about the comments you're seeing: The negative comments are mainly coming from members of the fan page who don't actively participate. They go to HHN for a night, after it ends, they forget about it.

The more dedicated horror-crazed fans who participate year round, us, are freaking STOKED about The Thing! Just ignore the one timers. Besides, I believe the naysayers will be convinced otherwise when the time comes. ;D

  2. Also, this maze is going to be fucking gross. I just know it. And I'm excited for it. <3 The Thing is a movie that genuinely grosses me out due to awesome 80s puppetry and special effects and how grotesque each of the thing's forms are. Since the makers of the prequel stated they will also be using good ol' trusty puppetry and special effects, I think this maze may genuinely scare me due to it's atmosphere.

  3. it has been at HHN in 07 it was an area of the Terror Tram and the whole point of that movie was to be corny and ridiculus but if they do a full fledge Klown maze it would seem too much like knotts to me

YEESH, I hope it was good.

And yeah, it's supposed to be corny and have that sense of black comedy. But it was so bad, I simply could not enjoy it.

I spit on that movie. Ptooey!

  4. Killer Klowns From Outer Space isn't Universal. It's MGM, I believe.

Ugh, I hated that movie. It was so... BAD! That's a movie I genuinely would not mind getting a remake. It's that bad.

    If it's at Halloween Horror Nights next year, let the scareactors step their game way up because that movie could not even make me crack a smile or a cringe. I was blank-faced the entire time. .__.;

I swear if that abomination of a movie makes it to HHN, I will wholly rely on the scareactors to make it enjoyable. And I hope they rock it! I don't want to be asked, "Hey Anu, how did you like the Killer Klowns from Outer Space maze/scarezone?" and reply with basically,

    howboutitsucked.gif

BAH! Excuse my hyperactivity, I just had some delicious pancakes and my body is thanking me for them.

  5. You know what, a part of me wants KK360 to return (though I still stand by it not being worth the wait) to eat up lines because let's be honest: HHN is crazy crowded. Great for Universal's revenue, bad for guests who want to do everything! I liked that KK360 was basically filler for HHN and ate up a good amount of guests for awhile.

But then there's JP's beautiful and spacious queue which is undoubtedly maze potential- which KK360 utilized. You know, even if a maze was used in JP's overlay, where would the potential maze's queue go? Would it be the main queue used for Jurassic park? I wouldn't want Jurassic park to be sacrificed, especially with the potential it has to be customized for Halloween Horror Nights.

About KK360, I want it to reappear again as filler at HHN. But I'd also like Jurassic Park AND a 6th maze at it's queue.. Bear with me on this one, but what if the queue for Waterworld was utilized for KK360..? It's an odd idea, but guests could be picked up by the tram at an area by Gibson's if there is a way safe for guests to travel from the queue to an area accessible by tram without the guests having to endure a seriously long walk. It'd be a bit of an extended ride on the tram, but the Terror Tram isn't exactly a short ride before you get off. :)

  6. Exactly. It wouldn't lol

Okay, since I'm a SANE, INTELLIGENT, BUSINESS SAVVY - ADULT (lol) here's what I would do for HHN 2011.

This is to please my personal wishes (the John Murdy faction), the GPs wishes (the FB crowd) and Universal Theme Parks (who want what the GP want and their business endeavors to expand)

First and foremost, no repeats from 2010. Freddy, Jason and Saw have been run into the ground.

Secondly, expanding the event so there will be at least 3 Wednesdays at the end of the event (excluding the last weekend with Halloween being on a Monday in it's place) and have opening night on a Thursday again. Every night will close at 2. Peak Saturday and Friday nights close at 3.

Third, more Frequent Fear Pass nights (At least 13). I won't have there be a FOL for the FFPs unless they upgrade nightly. Nobody needs to go every night and skip the lines also. That's just overkill no matter how much you pay for it. That's from a business stand point and a personal stand point so regular queue don't get held up for people who've gone 12 nights in a row already instead of catering to the first timers there on their first night.

Fourth, a "special" night in the way Knotts has Scion night. Something creative and fun though instead of what kinda car you own. But since I'm also playing the role of businessman here, in order to make up for admission losses, merchandise and food will get a 20% increase for this one night. And there will be no "buy one get one free" collector cups either.

Fifth, 3D maze and an original maze. This pleases every crowd of any kind. Combining both into one maze would be a doozy and the 3D element will certainly draw more attention to the original maze since it has to go up against the movie property baddies. Plus, there's no need to put useless 3D into mazes where the films weren't 3D in the first place either or if the environment doesn't suit it.

Sixth, an additional maze and an additional show. This will eat up crowds so they never go over 30 minutes on peak nights.

Seventh, we all love Trick 'r Treat but Murdy is right on it not being a good business deal at the moment and it's best to wait for the sequel and to have it be a major part of 2012. But then we also have another dilemma, if part 2 is a major success then a part 3 will be greenlit. Would it be more wise to wait until 2013 or 2014 in having a Trick 'r Treat maze as well as it being the main theme of the event when it has become wildly successful or jump the gun and have an entire event based on a franchise not too many people know about? My suggestion, wait until 2013 or 2014 and make it the main theme of the event to PROMOTE the third film. Maze, 2 scarezones and the Terror Tram based on the Trick 'r Treat films with promotion up the ass for the third film. I would rather see it take over instead of be a lonely maze shoved in the corner of the event somewhere. Who's with me on that one?

Eighth, as far as repeats are concerned, is it time for one yet? Not in my eyes. Halloween 3D has another year or so before it hits theaters. Same thing with Leatherface 3D (that's seriously what it's titled at the moment). Other than that, nothing else needs to be repeated any time in the near future (I'm looking at you MBV). Also Hellraiser (not a repeat) has a remake coming out in 2011, 2012, so we'll wait for that. So what are we looking at ladies and gentleman? An all new 2011 thanks to your friend DTH316 the way the GP wants it, I want it and the fans want it.

Ninth, due to popular demand after Chucky's Terror Tram, we see the return of a Chucky related show. Can't be Insult Emporium but the Chuckster is an HHN staple and he has to be involved in some way. As long as he's not in major attraction form, he's not hurting anyone.

So with all that considered, what do we do?

2011 is the year of SCREAM. Scream 4 in theaters, we celebrate the number 1 slasher franchise of all time in a big way. Main icon and advertisement treatment, Terror Tram centric and a scarezone near it's maze.

So what does DTH316 have up his sleeve in ideas for 2011?

The Thing: From Another World (HOH Venue)

Rob Zombie's Nightmares: in Zombievision 3D (T2 Venue)

Scream: Return to Woodsboro (WWW Venue)

The Evil Dead: Dead By Dawn (Shrek Venue)

    Now what about 2012?

Halloween: Michael Myers Returns 3D (T2 Venue)

The Exorcist: The Devil Inside (WWW Venue)

    *CLAPS FRANTICALLY!*

#Team DTH316 becoming a part of Mr. Murdy's creative team!

  7. Well, it seems Universal is getting residential! Though I see no point to this renovation. A couple of scareactors told me that Mr. Murdy said the section that hosts the Terror Tram just may be renovated to suit Universal's future plans. Most likely, these plans will lead to "our section" being turned into houses.

It's ironic because Universal has been receiving complaints from residents living near the backlot of nightly noise pollution during HHN. Does Universal honestly think building houses closer to it will subside these complaints? Even if the Terror Tram disappears, the buzzing of chainsaws and screams of guests certainly won't.

    http://nbcuniversalevolution.com/plan/community/

I was excited last year to hear that Universal would be expanding it's grounds. I just didn't expect this kind of "expansion." <_<

In other news, the Amphitheater may be shrunken, Citywalk will be hosting a new hotel, KING KONG IS ALREADY LOOKING TO BE REPLACED (Da fuk? Perhaps this is just outdated information. If it isn't, what the hell?), and new attractions- of course.

  8. I wouldn't blame what the media puts out on Murdy. In fact, I think he's just another puppet in Universal's regime. He's only repeating what they tell him to. I honestly don't believe that it was his choice to do these mazes this year, aside from HOTC. I think it might've been a toss and trade. "If you and Zombie get to do HOTC and an original maze, we get to repeat Saw, bring NOES up because it was most demanded and F13 along for the ride so we don't have to do go to anymore studios." And that's, what I'm pretty sure, happened. Murdy is a big fan of (the real) "all new" term that he posed in 09 and you can tell he was excited to stick on that bandwagon after 08 (another year I think the theme park forced them to repeat but he got the trade of "can I at least change some things up that didn't work so well?). He acted like he was going to stick to it and not until about April-ish of this year, he stopped acting like HHN-Hollywood would be all about that, probably because he lost the fight and just did what the park wanted in sake of business but nonetheless, with what he had, he STILL did a kickass event. So I know Murdy is still all about the fans and I don't think it was ultimately up to him.

Agreed. Though he is the creative director, ultimately, the bigwigs decide the fate of HHN in the end. He basically forms the ideas and makes the magic happen with what he's got.

  9. Management will see 2010 as a thundering success, and will treat Juhn Murdy as the messiah. After all, they sold out on just about every non-peak night, and quite a few of the peak nights. Unfortunately, the reality is that they sold out the non-peak nights solely because of the ultra-cheap Killer Deal season pass - not because of their content.

Knotts and HHN have been playing a game of "see who can give the deepest discount". When I go to HHN Orlando every year, I pay the full price. They limit the deals pretty much just to FL residents. Unless you know a resident, you're not going to get a discount. Over here, anyone who pays full price is the real sucker.

Over here, the merchandise is cheaper, the food is cheaper, even the parking is cheaper. L.A. has a much higher cost of living than Orlando, yet they get away with charging 25% more for everything at their HHN. It really doesn't make sense, either. Yeah, we've got three competing theme parks 30-50 miles away, but they do, too. And Disney isn't lowering their prices for anyone. HHN Hollywood needs to pretend that Six Flags and Knotts doesn't exist, and steeply increase their prices. This would lead to much bigger budgets.

What I'm trying to say is - sold out doesn't necessarily equate to a good event. But USH management will simply see the bottom line and won't care what they gave up to get there. Sadly, the GP in So Cal has been trained to not expect variety from these places.

As broke as I am, I do agree with raising ticket prices for a higher budget range and better quality. The thing is, the GP is now used to lower ticket prices- the GP, including me, is now quite spoiled when it comes to ticket prices. You should have seen how happy I was when I saw that the Killer Night Deal Pass was only $60 bucks compared to last year's $75 dollar price, though 3 nights were sacrificed this year.

Question is, how can HHN earn more revenue without upsetting the public? Methinks Universal should ask Disney for tips. Like you said, Disneyland isn't lowering ticket prices for anybody; The biggest discount they've ever had was going into Disneyland free on your BIRTHDAY! And in my memory, this was only done for one year. Even if you enter the park free, your wallet may still empty quickly because of how pricey everything is. The happiest place on Earth still creates the emptiest wallets on Earth with no intent to change that.

This year was noted to be the most successful HHN ever, especially with it's multiple sold out nights. Perhaps Universal has reached an equilibrium when it comes to revenue, guest attendance, and ticket price? I really wouldn't want the ticket price to lower any more, though it would make my wallet happier. I'm semi-content with the price raising for the sake of HHN's budget, but I definitely do not believe the price should lower any further. Leave that to Knotts.

    Quality > Quantity

  10. ANU! i thought you had an afro! lol i totally think i actually saw you now! lol i was looking for a girl with an afro xD

My afro has been retired! xD Don't worry, I retired it pretty late into HHN. I think the Sunday before the 28th was when I first came afro-less. My black cloud sitting upon my head needed a break! Everyone, including scareactors, were molesting her! _afronoes__by_z_lady.gif

Oh, and I forgot to add, Westcoaster.net captured me! Here I am with the afro. But goodness, I look absolutely ridiculous!

  11. I don't expect the new Thing to flop. There's a lot of love for the original and quite a lot of anticipation for the new one. Of course, only time will tell. However, as we've mentioned, it's already been proven that a Thing maze is entirely possible as it's already been successfully accomplished with a combination of animatornics and live actors in Orlando. Whether Hollywood would invest in it is another question entirely.

And I don't approve of calling Wolfman a "complete flop" and comparing it to My Soul to Take. Wolfman made $62 M in the US and $140 M worldwide. It wasn't huge but that's right on par with the NOES and F13 remakes domestically and far more than they made internationally. My Soul To Take hasn't even cracked $20M worldwide. That's a big difference. Sorry to get hung up on this stuff like grosses but, well, it's what I do for a living.

Not even $20mil worldwide?? Crap, that's probably not even enough to pay off it's marketing campaign!

  12. Anu, actually, you're a fucking genius. That sounds like the PERFECT idea. Imagine being on the catwalk and coming face to face with a giant, multi headed monster springing all the way from the bottom floor and then when you reach the bottom again, there's more heads but those heads jump out towards you (scareactors with tentacle heads on top of their heads that move forward and out from the body). Maybe the scareactor usage idea would be lame but that is actually a REALLY, REALLY good idea, especially if they wanna push this movie like Disney is doing Tron right now.

    __mono_mamon_blush_tongue__by_FelipeChoque.gif Really?

I'd really love if this idea actually came to life! The HOH soundstage could actually get the renovation it desperately needs *ahem* deserves and give guests a completely new experience. This would also give Universal more fodder to attract guests with an actual all-new attraction. Sorry, but King Kong is not large enough of an attraction to treat it like it is a full attraction, imo. The advertising and giving it it's own line at HHN was rather useless to me. If anything, KK360 at HHN was basically filler. Amazing? Yes. A full-on attraction? No.

Re-working the HOH to the Thing would definitely count as a new attraction and this is the perfect time to do so because of the remake/prequel soon to be released. I can't exactly predict the financial success of the oncoming prequel just yet, but this it would be a good opportunity for Universal to add something new to their lineup. ^^

  13. LOL. This is such an embarrassing picture. So why is it now my profile picture?

    67530161873127546714519.jpg

The two males between my friend and I are scareactors. The one with the reddish makeup on his eyes plays Freddy. The guy doing the :o face is a chainsaw clown. He's one of the craziest clowns, I tell you! I'll never forget him.

If any of you remember a spiky-haired chainsaw demon monk from last year who screamed a lot, you're looking at him right now as well!

And excuse me trying to make a snack out of his ear! Haha! I hate smiling for photos so I decided to get random!
