That would be absolutely incredible and I love the idea of having the body collectors in here instead of their own house! Makes room for a new OG or a sequel!

Exactly what I was going for! The Collectors are actually one of my favorite HHN originals, but I don't mind them going back to their roots as supporting characters in the TC story.

One of the 2 OG houses I planned would be a terra house I just didn’t know what to call it lol and I put saw and purge as scarezones because I feel like saw might be unique on the streets and not waste a whole house slot and the purge because supposedly the final purge is coming out next year and i feel purge works better in the streets then a house but absolutely agree we don’t need more purge lol

also while Freddy is one of my favorite slashers I would rather see hellraiser have that spot since it’s something new but not sure who holds the rights to it.

I now have a full treatment going for my goofy idea, "The Dungeon of Terra-Cruentus" that I should post in the creative thread, and it's a little more developed than what's below; but here's what I first sketched out for the random scene ideas I had in the early-going:

    1. ENTER - Dungeon Wall Facade (2 actors = Eelmouth on top of the dungeon entrance, watching over a captive Storyteller suspended in a cage, who is being forced to read a new chapter in Cruentus's history)
    2. Spider Room (1-2 actors = dying monk, combating monk/soldier)
3*. Spider hallway half-room with animatronic
    4. Rat Lady Chamber (probably stopped seeing the Rat Lady at HHN for a multitude of safety/ethical reasons, so not an exact replica of this room but a twist of some sort)
    5. Dining Room/Chainsaw Sacrifice
    6. Sacrificial Chamber - Terra Queen using her knife on a victim actor
    7. Skool in the Graveyard (3 actors = tombstone scare kids)
    8. Bridge Back to the Dungeon (Knucklegrunt actors & static figures lurk in the "waters" here)
    9. Body Collectors Dungeon Takeover (classic DoT & Collector gags here - hanging man, spine rip, etc...)
    10. Body Collectors Dungeon Takeover 2 (more aggressive Collectors in tighter spaces here)
    11. Finale - Terra Queen is sacrificed to complete the cycle, Queen's bike-prop scares guests as they pass by exiting the house

Soundstage 24, maybe? I only thought that because my idea for the facade is fairly close in scope/style to Scary Tales: DEA. That or a parade building could probably house it too, considering how tall the scenery reached in Monsters & Graveyard Games this year.

None of this will likely happen. But this would be a sweet, gory, delicious trip back in time.

  3. Just gonna say it's a suuuuper random inclusion to sell Dark Night of the Scarecrow masks at the merch stands this year. I doubt it means anything though. Did rights to that come with some other movie Uni procured for this year?

I want to see icons, as I think most of us will. Would especially love a house where the Director & Usher team up, be it a famous film mashup like their previous houses or totally original.

Screamhouse as well. I can wait on a Vanity Ball house, but I need one sooner or later. Those costumes and characters are too good to go unused after this year.

Assuming the Terra Queen returns as prophecy entails, it would be cool to do a "Dungeon of Terra Cruentes". The name is too cute to pass up. Would get us some Body Collectors in the mix, so I'm down.

  4. Conversely, after the past 3 nights in attendance, Vanity Ball is 100 percent my favorite scare zone in the couple of years I've attended so far. My best friend was in attendance the past 3 nights & also loved that zone, she found it so much fun while still being respectful to the "ball" scene. The main actors were so interactive with us and anybody else who would actually hang around & watch, while the doctor & nurse actors were always on the move & jumping people aggressively. Again, a lot of fun to people-watch there.

    My zones are probably:

    1. Vanity Ball

    2. Hellbilly Deluxe

    3. Zombieland (horrible shows, but a really awesome cast; I dug this so much more when I ate at Finn's last night, the cast performing in front of the windows was hysterical)

    4. Vikings Undead

    5. Anarch-cade

    Houses:

    1. Universal Monsters

    2. House of 1000 Corpses

    3. Yeti: Terror of the Yukon

    4. Depths of Fear (Overhead puppet almost hits me every time & I'm here for it lol)

    5. Us

    6. Graveyard Games (Just had a bad 1st walkthrough of this. Hoping to get better ones as the week goes on.)

    7. Nightingales (A couple of scenes are waaaay too timing dependent. Though I really liked the UTH tour of this house! Now I can spot the hidden bear!)

    8. Killer Klowns

    9. Ghostbusters

    10. Stranger Things

  5. My younger sister just moved down to Florida to start a new job this past month. So thankful that she's able to get a flight back up tomorrow to sit this out here. I'm hoping anyone not as fortunate can take every step possible to stay safe.

Here's hoping the Scare Zone props avoid damage from winds/flooding as well. I would imagine the houses will be fine, but the tent facades worry me a bit.

  6. 1. Nightingales: Blood Pit - I missed the first one, but the theme & costuming fascinated me from the moment I started following the event from home. It's a dream-come-true to be able to experience a newer, hopefully even more brutal group of 'gales in action. The setting is something pretty unprecedented as well. The history nerd in me loves that aspect of it to death.

    2. Universal Classic Monsters - My dudes! Especially Phantom, Mummy, Creature, and the Invisible Man. Putting it in the Seeds parade building from last year makes me a little nervous for the sets, but I still think it could pull off some great things.

    3. Depths of Fear - The tent houses really interest me this year. Expecting more of a SOMA vibe than a Bioshock vibe, and I'm super cool with that.

    4. Us - Really interested to see the Vision Quest funhouse, possibly nega-Tim Heidecker in his fancy home, and of course, for the music. <3

    5. Stranger Things 2&3 - All depends on how the Mind Flayer is conveyed. Based on the giant puppet rumors, I'm intrigued.

    6. House of 1000 Corpses - If we get a "Run rabbit, run!" line from Otis/Bill Mosely-lookalike, I will yell "Dog will hunt!" back at him. Also, the setpieces should be really fun, this movie's full of 'em. Fishboy confirmed makes me super happy.

    7. Ghostbusters - I know it's the creative team's passion project, so I can see this being absolutely breathtaking. I'm most excited for the NY Public Library section, as I work full time in an absolutely beautiful historic library further upstate. But Stay Puft has me hyped too.

    8. Yeti: Terror of the Yukon - Hoping for a super aggressive cast and cool setpieces. Carnival Graveyard really underwhelmed me in this location last year, so this could go either way...

    9. Killer Klowns from Outer Space - Although at 9, I'm still very much anticipating this house. I think I dropped it a bit in my list because the press release for Hollywood specifically mentioned Mooney, the cop-turned-puppet, and Orlando's left him out. So I'm nervous that the freakiest scene in the film (and one I felt would translate best to a house) might not be included. So this is a wildcard until we know exactly what's inside. Cotton candy cocoon scares could be great though!

    10. Graveyard Games - This could move way up since I do dig the Louisiana graveyard setting, but it could also go the super-generic route. I get why people are getting hyped for the interactive social media gimmick, that's just not my thing.

    For the Scarezones:

    1. Vanity Ball - I like my scare zones how I like my women: Classy & homicidal in disturbing ways.

    2. Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe - A lot of cool setpieces here, plus the Living Dead Girl video stage is probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari have any presence at HHN.

    3. Anarch-Cade - I'm a sucker for neon and I think the chainsaws will fit well in this area. Hoping some actors take the time to sneak up on folks in the Killer Klowns queue like last year's did near the H4 one.

    4. Vikings Undead - Weird direction to go in with the zombies thing, but much better than getting White Walkers this year tbh. The props & decor are hyping me up for this though.

    5. Zombieland - Should still be a really fun zone. The cast lookalikes should be cool, though I don't know what else to really look forward to seeing there.

  7. I can only partly understand why there's so much vehement, yet lukewarm disdain for Us as a film; but I'll count myself lucky that it was the most fun I've had watching a horror movie in a long time and I'm very excited that it will have a house this year. There are scenes right out of the gate in that movie that I'll be elated to walk through.

Was Tooth Fairy one of the originals I was most interested in? Yes. Does that mean it's replacement is automatically deserving of my scorn? Absolutely not.

If we all made it through Blumhouse 2: The Blumin' Onion last year, I think y'all will survive 1 house you're not excited for this year too. :)

  8. I'd mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I would be stoked if Graveyard: H&S wound up being a continuation of Twisted Tradition's themes & pumpkin creatures. Have it take place in some cemetary near the church property from last year's SZ.

Not a likely occurance, but I dig when original SZs are expanded upon.

  9. God, Mike Flanagan directs some pretty-looking horror movies!  His Gerald's Game adaptation made me very happy. Interesting that this trailer splices in Kubrick's Shining as it's backstory, given Uncle Stevie's feelings on that film...

Duma Key is still my dream adaptation. My personal favorite novel of his (tied with The Stand).

Relevant part of the post: Think I'm going to book my stay for a couple of extra days this year, Oct 24th right through til closing night. Hoping I can swing the costs!

Do we still have any idea whether there will be an Icon or not? I remember Usher was heavily rumored, especially after the sign that appeared in Carnival Graveyard on the last night, plus the Leave It 2 Cleaver leak getting taken down. And if not him, maybe Lady Luck could be returning since we're getting Nightingales back?

Y'know, if the website's reveal board is any indicator, an Usher-hosted mashup house like his first one would kinda fit the bill as our "6th" IP house while still having some original content as a wraparound too...

I think the mindflayer would far away screen effect or lighting effects.

This is really going to be the make-or-break for this house, in my eyes. Season 2's big horror takeaway is the Mindflayer; the fear, both in sheer scope/size and psychologically when it possesses Will, needs to be conveyed well to sell this house to me.

Imagine Stranger Things being big & coming to HHN back when Twister was still active. The indoor tornado with a custom Mindflayer backdrop would have made for some fun imagery!

This sums up this place the last couple years. Everyone knows something but cant say what that something is so they give clues about clues. All very hush hush... Ive been going since 2006 and dont have a f**king clue what half this sh1t is...

I just assume every hint points towards a mashup house of true IP juggernauts Carnosaur, The Crawling Hand, Chopping Mall, Jack Frost 2, and Trapped Ashes. It usually fits. :p

but there really are 0 reasons that the Tethered family would be attacking the guests.

Did we not watch the same film? Members of the tethered went out of their way to kill people who got in their way; Umbrae did so once and a couple of random tethered had a scene where this happened as well (won't mention the specifics out of concern for those who haven't seen the movie yet).

And I don't buy into the dismissal about casting either. Even if a Lupita-lookalike only has to appear once or twice during the maze, so much can be done with random tethered, which would make the impact of her & the family's emergence more impactful imo.

  14. Hmm, today is Us's "prerelease" date (seeing it at 7:30 tonight, woo!). Universal has really gone all-in promoting it and clearly expects it to be a moneymaker. If we were to get a grand 1st announcement today, I actually think the odds are high that it's Us-related vs. Stranger Things-related.

They can hold out on releasing a ST2 announcement because the hype is already there from last year's debut. Us would be a whole new property they can cross-promote and generate early interest from a different sub-audience through.

Seems like the setpieces are unique enough to form it's own house too, if Blumhouse is willing to let that happen.
