Bad news for anyone looking for merch almost everything is gone already as of last night only a few shirts regan pops and post cards are left but honestly I got there late last night (my buddy got his ticket stolen in city walk) but got everything including ride excluding jabba cookies done. Nothing ever exceeded an hour outside of AHS
Did your friend try using his ticket from the e-mail to scan on his phone? The only way it wouldn't work is if they got into the park before him. That sucks though. How did that whole situation work out? Did he just buy another one?

I won't write a whole review, but this is my final night break down:
- TCM, waited 50ish minutes for. Halloween & Exorcist was about 10ish minutes, the others (including TT) literally strolled right into.
- All the rides were walk ons as well. They gave us FOL passes (good for only lower lot rides and TT) because of a hold up early in the night going onto the backlot. They gave us one going in and one coming out so we got TWO! We didn't even need them though, there were lines for nothing, but we used it for TT and then used our second ones on a free drink.
- Harry Potter helped alleviate the crowds, for sure. People were more spread out, it felt. [The ride itself, my first time going on it, is definitely in the top 3 best rides of all time]. This definitely needs to be open next year. Plus, the actual ride [minor spoilers] is very horror-centric and completely fit into the Horror Nights lineup, better than Mummy, JP in the Dark or Transformers, that's for sure.
- We were two hours ahead of schedule so we spent alot of time in Harry Potter World. Ate at Three Broomsticks, got Butterbeer, did the Wand thing (my friend got picked), took pictures, went through all the shops, did the roller coaster. I think we were there from 930ish to 1130.
- Final night shenanigans were going on from the scareactors, you could tell. They were more playful and even touchy. They were celebrating something in the Purge backlot zone and I never saw it open, actually. But I heard them cheering and applauding.
- Major props to the Terror Tram clown in the first chainsaw brigade that walked up to me and my tall friend (that's a girl and was clinging on to me). He motioned to our height difference and wondering why she was with me lol I told them she wasn't my girlfriend and they could have her. She's TERRIFIED of clowns and was really worried about the Tram, but then he held out his arm and she walked with him for a bit up to the motel, so I think it really calmed her down, plus it was just a great funny moment. Priceless memory.
- My maze lineup from best to worst is like this: Exorcist, FvJ, Halloween, Krampus [these first four are all GOLD though], then TCM [improved greatly for me] and finally AHS which had really great cast performances but there's something design-wise about the maze that's lacking for me and puts it way at last.
And finally, just wanna say this was definitely the best year and lineup we will probably ever have. Major thanks to the entire team that made this thing come to life this year. I appreciate every single person involved, no matter how big or small. I'm really depressed it's over now.

Just give me Scream please, so I can die happy. Resident Evil is in my wildest dreams and one day could be possible, but I'm legit offended Scream hasn't been done in a serious manner yet.

I was checking wait times and they looked pretty good between 5 - 10 (nothing more than an hour). It was after that, things jumped up to how long they usually are, maybe because the Terror Tram closed, which even happens on Thursdays and Sundays. Either way, WWHOP will help spread people very evenly for final night. Upper lot will probably be dead anytime a Jabba show is on.
-
ANY - SLASHER - MAZE - EVER.
Victims are then used to spice things up, as you could do with Stranger Things (as well as scientists, government agents, etc).
I'm not even gonna explain this, you know it's true lol
-
I'm hoping it won't be as packed.
Here's the strategy I've come up with for that night (Backlot, Lower Lot, Tram, WWOHP, Upper Lot). I'm hoping it works, but I'm willing to miss TWD and TCM if the line for FJ is long since those were my least two favs.

Forget environments, there is only one, count em one creature/scare person thing to work off of, it would be the same thing over and over. You could say the same for exorcist but idk Stanger Things has Murdys love for it like the Exorcist does. If they wait a year for season 2 to come out I'm sure they have more to work with and make something special, if they do it next year it will just feel like a corporate move to capitalize on its popularity
One creature to work off of? You do know Horror Nights has done literally dozens of mazes with that description, right? lol
2 hours ago, StraightEdge said:I'm surprised no one came at me for predicting It will be a maze next year because of the remake due to Murdy having trouble getting the rights for the original film
Wow, you're right, totally forgot about that! We'll see though, Stephen King apparently doesn't like his properties being used. But as they say, EVERYONE HAS A PRICE!

On Halloween, the actor who played Hollywood Harry in all the promotions and advertisements came out to Terror Tram in full make up and was able to talk to guests . If all goes well he'll be back on Saturday
Did people know who he was orrrrrr? haha

I think it totally has enough environments and scenes to work with. Do I want to see it though? Not necessarily.
It could start off in Will's home with the Christmas lights, go through the forest for a few scary scenes (like Barb being taken), go to the lab where Eleven was created, then go to the Upside Down, then back to the lab for the finale.
If they can do This Is The End, they can do Stranger Things haha

A short film I directed, y'all. Enjoy.

If that's right, I sure hope we share it! I'd love to see what Orlando could do with the original film and all of the advancements in puppets and such.
I believe Orlando did Carpenter's The Thing already and it was also called The Thing: Assimilation like the 2011 movie's maze.

Also so would like to say before this gets suggested a million times next year. No there will not be a Stranger Things house, it's crazy how many people who saw the show thinks it should be a house. At least not for next year. There isn't enough material in season 1 to work with unless they take a lot of creative liberties.
The TV show is doing very well and the line has been insanely long all season. I've never seen a line reach 3 hours at HHN. That means people felt it would be worth it and also a lot of people probably skipped it and didn't get to see it. "Brought back by popular demand" is reason enough. I wouldn't doubt it for a single second, if not the movie, then perhaps in the TV series' form.
6 hours ago, Psycho_Bates said:Since AHS is finally a house I kinda predict its sister show Scream Queens being a maze using both season 1, and season 2. Channel Zero as well.
Scream Queens season 1 and 2 have completely different settings, it'd be an awkward house. And the ratings have been hella low, it's on the verge of getting cancelled. I doubt it'll happen.
1 hour ago, horror lover said:You know what? I have a feeling 2017 MAY be the year we end up seeing Scream done right, all 4 movies, Ghostface etc.. the whole she-bang.. Ghostface is the only slasher that hasn't had his star shine properly at the event and with this year being such a heavy slasher year, it would make sense for them to follow it up with the last man standing..
I hope and I PRAY. Just one time Murdy, c'mon, give it it's due!!!

That was the word on this site and other sites, but a lot of people say some unfounded things purely on guesswork haha. It's possible it's true, however, nobody has confirmed it.
-
Great, detailed review. I don't know if this is the first maze to have cussing in it though (I'll have to look into that).
I definitely agree Halloween is such a stand out maze, simply for that ending. I wish we'd get more surreal mazes like that.
-
Yeah, I see (Ash vs.) or Evil Dead as a big possibility, especially since it's getting a third season already.
Also, next year is the last season of MTV's Scream, so if there's any chance of that franchise coming back, it's now!

So other than the Purge re-route and new route on TT, what other major changes have there been to the event so far?

Also, does anyone know the name of the piece that plays while you're loading and unloading the Terror Tram?
I'll soundhound it on my next trip if nobody else knows it!

Hey so I've been going through crazy times in life so I have not made it to hhn yet so plan is I'm going the last day Nov 5. I've never done the last day is there any different from going In October? is it normally busy? And does anyone know if the pin for him is still available?
It should be the same, they haven't announced anything different yet. Might be less busy since it's after Halloween but who knows, these dates were announced way ahead of time. And what pin?!
1 hour ago, Darkblackrain said:If I don't do early entry this year and choose the opening instead, will I be able to see everything? Minus the rides and TWD?
Let's do the math. By 7:15, when you will get to the backlot, the lines for the most popular mazes will be at an hour by now. Let's say you do AHS first. It'll now be 8:25 (counting time to go through the maze and any possible hold ups). FVJ will be at roughly 70ish mins. 9:45. Krampus generally has a shorter wait, prob 40-60 mins. On average, done at 10:55ish. At this point, you have to run up to Terror Tram before it closes and skip Halloween and Exorcist for now. Let's say that's a 10-15 min journey, 11:10ish. Line for that will be 35-45. On at 11:50, the attraction itself is 30-40 mins to go through depending on trams running. 12:25, you head to TCM, 70 min wait. Out at 1:45. You now have time to RUN to the lower lot and get one last maze in. This is if you don't eat or stop for snacks.
So no, you will miss 1-2, and depending how crowded it is, maybe 3 mazes. You will also definitely miss the show, depending how important that is for you. You would have better chances on a Thurs or Sunday though, but still iffy even than.

Always love getting to read the comparison reviews from someone who actually attended both!
Overall, which coast do you think had the better year?

Biggest problem with any house in the daytime is that your eyes don't adjust till you're almost out of the maze.
I almost like that more because it's scarier haha I think that's what made TWD last year way scarier since it was the first maze I went through

I'm more referring to the 5:15 method of early entry. If you do that and still miss things, somethings fucking wrong with you. Also, I just assume anyone looking at these forums already is serious about doing everything and isn't a complete fool. I'll never understand why people show up without the mindset of doing everything. Like if you just came to hang out with friends, do they know how much it costs to get in, and if they come because it's supposed to be scary, don't they know there are other haunts that are cheaper. I can't even comprehend a group showing up at 10, like why did you even show up at all, you flushed your money down the toilet by coming 3 hours late, you won't be able to get much done, so it would be like you never came.
It happens, man, it's so weird. In fact, I would say that's the agenda of the majority of people who visit! If you read any review on Yelp, Google, or Facebook, they all say the same exact thing. In fact, we used to have the Facepalm Awards for the dumbest stories we could find but at this point, since the park has gotten so popular, it's so hard to read all of them now.

Glad you got through everything, unfortunate you didn't get a good run through of TT. Did you go through the clown mouth or were you forced to go around the Psycho House??
As for the predictability of the scares, yeah, it's been like that since '06. They haven't changed anything up and you do get used to it. Honestly, at some point, you learn to go through the mazes for the art aspect of it and not so much the scares, because I hardly ever actually get scared in these mazes anymore. So when I do, that makes it a real treat.

I think you are going a little extreme, if you do early entry this year, you are guaranteed to do everything, so do it however you please
There is no guarantee unless you push yourself. I know of plenty of people who have done early entry, this year included, and still don't finish anything. The regular parkgoer dilly dallies around, as RPC said. They'll go in shops, eat twice, literally sit on a bench to take breaks, ride rides more than once, play midway games, etc.. and then wonder WHY they didn't get everything done or why lines are so long.
This person I know who regularly reads my tips went this weekend and their whole group decided against everything to do what they wanted to do instead. They got there at 10, did TWD first, the TT, rode Simpsons, then did TCM, Krampus, and went home. In my tips, it specifically says to make sure your friends are down with the game plan because of crap like this, but instead people don't take it seriously and just invite whoever and let whoever they invited invite other people (who oddly somehow is always someone who doesn't even wanna do mazes but came anyway).
It takes dedication, hustle, and the will to push yourself if you wanna arrive at early entry and get through everything with a group of regular people who call HHN "Fright Fest" instead. They often don't care and just wanna "go with the flow" and have fun because they have no idea that $80 event that's a "rip off" to them actually has 6 more mazes that they didn't see. People are dumb and it's my only hope that someone who takes it at least a tiny bit serious will stumble upon this board and learn what they've been doing wrong or how to get the full value of the event.

Sounds like you had a good time! Where would you say this year ranks among the other ones?
