  1. Back after a long absence (well, it felt long)!

Would like to drop at some convo points you guys have been having lately!

    1) Lower lot maze - with a "house facade" seeming to be constructed (that's what I got from the window comment), my guess is it's possibly Psycho (more on why later...)

    2) Murdy checking here - AWESOME. I'm glad to know he takes the time to see what real fans say. This will in no way change how I talk about the event. I may be the most hard hitting with my ideas, reviews, critiques and opinions, but best believe I am in the top 10 of the event's biggest fans. I have yet to be disappointed by a year. I even praised the return of New Line because, SERIOUSLY, that was a life long horror fan's dream come true and once through before just didn't feel like enough. I had to scratch that itch just one more time and it was perfect and I welcome them back any time soon. As someone who wishes to be a huge part of the creation process of this event or similar events in the future, it's important I stay honest to myself and the fans that I show my passion in what's going on here even if that means I use vulgar language and colorful metaphors. Whatever gets my point across and sets it apart from the other average opinions makes me happy. I take this integrity with everything I do including my own creations or reviews of anything else.

    3) 5th location - I believe it was Onca who said it and I think he is right. This is something similar to what I said awhile back about it being an area like this (I suggested the Freakz scarezone backstage area). The fact of the matter is, no matter where on the upper lot you put this 5th maze, it's going to be close to any of them. It's another "vague hint" from Murdy. That's like asking "so where's the new state going to be located?" and answering with "along the border." Mexico or Canada, that's a large space to guess through. If not that location, I have an awesome idea. How about a 2fer right after the Wild West arena? After exiting the usual exit, once in the Wild West zone, it could be a new stage leading up and through the Flinstones area. This is a big area for traffic to go through but also get this - this pushes crowds towards the Shrek Venue maze which sometimes fails to get the largest wait times and also pushes crowds down towards the Terminator 2/Freakz area, which we know don't get very populated. Long shot but hey, for future consideration although I don't see Uni doing a 2fer maze. Something about that tells me it would ruin the experience in their eyes (although I think Knotts totally pulls it off).

    4) Maze properties - Well CRAP - No Resident Evil, Scream, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Exorcist, Halloween, Rob Zombie films, Stephen King films, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Saw, Texas Chainsaw, Bloody Valentine and etc. So what the hell is left exactly? I'm stumped. This makes me believe Universal is going into their own archive folks and I have 2 reasons to believe this: the one tip that it'll clash the old with the new and the tip that "another studio property is being used"... yes... read that carefully... not propertIES. So let's look at what we got, shall we? We know one of them is Wolfman. CHECK. We know Psycho is being celebrated this year, right? CHECK. We know a new horror film by Wes Craven is coming out this October called My Soul to Take. CHECK. We know one is based off of literature which is in fact, a classic horror movie and could also be original which is -- Frankenstein. CHECK. Chucky's Playhouse did very well in ratings last year and could be changed up to be a new maze in a different location plus vague tips from Murdy about Chucky's whereabouts. CHECK. The Strangers are still roaming the backlot. CHECK. Is the Crypt Keeper a wise cracking, icon worthy story teller that could transport us through numerous horror stories via the House of Horrors? CHECK. What do all these movies have in common? They're all Universal properties that could easily be perceived as "new mazes". Murdy has pretty much dispelled EVERYTHING big to come out of horror in the last 10 years. So it must be mostly stuff from their own, old, recent and upcoming. I have no problem with this but I just feel it would be a huge detractor from everything they did years prior by not being completely modern but of course they have to sway off the path some time soon. My guess is they're holding everything big for next year and using their own stuff for this year in the meanwhile.

    5) Theme predictions from Scare Zone clues thus far - Okay, we have clowns. They have chainsaws. Next up, looney bin escapees of some sort. Manic clowns, manic hospital patients. Theme we're getting at here so far is CHAOS. Something is loose on the studio grounds or is LETTING things loose. Maybe horror stories are coming to life, old, new and created. Like I said before, the Crypt Keeper is the one who possess these powers. Does he fit with the Terror Tram story telling? Does he taunt people with his menacing appearance? Does he persuade people to come to Horror Nights with his sinister charm and wit? Is he a marketable character? All signs point to yes. Just a random, off the wall prediction that if not used this year then I hope they use some year soon. I flippin' LOVE the Keeper :)

  2. No, no, no. No lock. How it will be manipulated into the event is still very unclear. Where will the line be considering the Studio Tour queue gets full on busy nights? (Barely a row or two during the weekdays though.) Will the theme of Horror Nights still be considered or will it be a straight approach for the event (meaning will it be Horror Nights screens, commentary; not changing of the actual attraction)? What the Kong - Terror Tram tram ratio? 1:4 is my guess. How much time would it take to go all the way down into the backlot just to go on Kong and go back up? There is still a lot to discuss about Kong being used this year.

  3. Of course it'll be one of the best nights of the year... but saying that, and knowing it could be BETTER still leaves room for a let down. I'll attend even if it's all repeats and I'll still have fun, it's just you kinda long for something more. Like marrying the fat girl with a nice personality when there's the extremely hot chick that "got away" that you had a chance with days before the wedding but decided to be faithful....

    lmfao

  4. well realy anything could have bricks, Hell it could be the back alley of Raccoon city for all we know

    DON'T - YOU - TEASE - ME!!!!

I agree, Saw is probably coming back. I've been telling you guys from the beginning that Murdy is, (for lack of a better word) a bullshitter. Everyone on twitter has said every flippin' movie in the history that's not even horror related and he has come up with SOME response to throw us off track. No repeats, can't get the rights, not scary enough, wasn't successful - that honestly leaves about 10 horror franchises to be done. Horror isn't the biggest money making genre out there and to combine scary, moody, icon and success really narrows it down. Can't even give a straight answer as to whether or not there will be an original maze. How ridiculous is that? They're doing this on purpose and by setting up the Twitter account, it really has them trapped in a corner. What purpose does it make unless he's actually going to GIVE OUT INFORMATION? It's the biggest cock tease in the book that girls have been following since the dawn of time -- keep them around, get them interested, tease until they're completely interested, tease some more, tease until they'll stay around no matter what happens now, give lackluster goods but it's okay because we've been desperate for them this entire time anyway.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

P.S. I just wanted to note that I don't care if there's a Saw 2.0, I actually kinda want to see that, lmao

  5. Oh, I like the Clown blocks.

You know what I JUST realized though?

That this means for the first time ever...

Whoville WON'T be occupied by Clowns!

That enough excites me to know they're doing something new with the beginning of Terror Tram.

    *2 months later*

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CUT OUT THE WHOVILLE AREA ON THE TERROR TRAM AND YOU START AT BATES MOTEL!

    lmao

  6. So.... they got rid of the ultra AWESOME Welcome to Hell for flippin Klowns. (it HAD to be with a gosh damn K, didn't it?)

Now don't get me wrong, the art work looks pretty dope - BUT WHAT THE FU<K!!!!!

Since when the hell did we NEED MORE clowns?! Every horror event in HISTORY has clowns! We couldn't go one year without em and now it's a whole scare zone based on em?

I'm willing to bet it'll be awesome, I was just expecting a bit more originality.

Glad to see stilt man is back though. Just wish he was in Welcome to Hell.

If they bring in fire, I'll see this as a welcome replacement for New York Street.

    Until then Murdy, EFF YOOOOOOOU!!!

  7. Pretty much. I see it along the same lines as it was last year for Saw, maybe just magnified a bit, possibly into Whoville. "Norman Bates Nightmares" or something like that (Maybe clowns dressed up as mother in chainsaws? Creepy, lol). And then go into the regular story afterward with the rest of the films.

I don't see it in House of Horrors, it's kinda just weird seeing mother pop out of a forest or Frankenstein's lab. Or being stared down by Norman Bates in a Mummy hallway. Why would Norman Bates be busy occupying a house of horrors when he has a motel to attend to? Kinda ruins the continuity of the event, not like that's a big issue anyway since he's somewhat present in there already but as a side character with the rest of 'em. You can't top the actual Motel and House with a fake soundstage full of horror movie odes. That is the TRUE heart and soul of Psycho, of Norman Bates and pretty much the beginning of slasher-horror. If there were going to be anything big based on Psycho this year, expect it to be the Terror Tram.

And even IF he were the main icon for the TT, I still see it working. He doesn't have to be shown, just his voice over the video. "You've been invited to the exclusive 55th anniversary of the Bates Motel. We've been dying to have guests just drop by." And then of course the story will change to maybe that a killer is on the loose and you have to escape out of Norman's backyard. There's many ways to go with Norman being the icon that could work, be effective and scary. Afterall, what is the absolute HIGHLIGHT of TT? Walking on that set. It always gets magical treatment and always feels the coolest and plants a big smile on any horror aficionado's face to be living in one of those movies.

  8. - No RHPS this year, he confirmed that it wouldn't be returning because it wasn't popular enough.

    - Ghostbusters, an idea of mine from back in the Vault days, would still be awesome.

    - Insult Emporium hasn't updated it's joke since it's creation. I can only hear how someone's dick can fit in a Cheerio so many times. So to me + the fact that it's on youtube = lame. He was right, youtube killed it but I think even more the writers killed it when they showed how uninventive they were. I'm willing to bet Murdy's reference just meant he'd be on the TT somewhere.

    - Shakeys has some awesome pizza, mojos and chicken wings. Not HHN related, just thought I'd put that out there.

  9. I have a feeling this year will be a bit underwhelming. They've literally done all the major modern franchises worth making and none of the movies this last year seem maze worthy. Not to note that the ones they said they can't do yet aren't going to be this year (Scream, Evil Dead, Exorcist, Hellraiser) Sooooo, what the hell are we getting?!

I think this year they bit the bullet and went another direction and didn't worry about the whole icon thing. That's the only way I see this workin.

  10. If Knotts stole Universal's PR then I think they'd know better than to come out with 3 new measly mazes (although I'm all over Sleepy Hollow Mountain). Or hopefully they stole it, saw how epic it was and decided to revamp their event and get rid of some of their lamer mazes (Cornstalkers, I'm talking to you)

I still think beginning of August. With their event starting in September now, I don't see them waiting any longer than the 7th.

Resident Evil would be cool but as said before on the Vault, I'd love to see it on the game. The movies, I'd be less jazzed about. Nothing about them necessarily make me excited to see to walk through. If I were to walk through Spencer's Mansion though, I'd *cue Lonely Island song* JIZZ IN MY PANTS!

  11. Granted since all Knotts mazes are original they can say whatever they want, whenever.

And Uni has to deal with movie rights and what not.

But the mazes have been LOCKED IN for about 2 months now. It's silly.

If Uni really wanted to create some buzz, why not release a youtube video a week of a new announcement?

That would catch the attention more than anything a PR would. Half the people that go don't even know what mazes are there until they show up anyway. Youtube would fix that problem easily.
