  1. This year kinda seems like a 10 year anniversary to me. Watching that clip, it just seemed like a mash up of everything HHN has been doing for the last 10 years. TT looks the same, Insidious looks more or less the same, Halloween looks the same but honestly doesn't look AS good as 09's, TITE looks like all the dumb 3D mazes we've had, and AVP/TWD looks exactly like more of the same. Only thing standing out is Crimson but even that seems a bit underwheleming for some reason. Either way, can't wait to go until tomorrow.

  2. Whoever goes, whenever you get back or early tomorrow morning, please inform us more about the Early Entry system and how it all went down, smoothly or terrible! Will be very informative for the rest of us on what to make sure we do or avoid.

I have a feeling people will start lining up for Insidious and TWD right at 5 or at least hang by those areas until people let them in. I'm hoping not though because that'll really defeat the purpose of having smaller lines for the first 30 minutes.

  3. MAJOR QUESTION!

Where does the line for This Is The End start? By the escalators or by Transformers?

I also need to know where the exit is. By the escalators or by Transformers?

I know the ENTRANCE is by Transformers, but I'm trying to make a good game plan without having to walk all over the lower lot back and forth.

(EDIT: I watched that video and fast forwarded to the end, and the exit is definitely by The Mummy. Which means unless you do TITE first, you're definitely going to be doing some walking back and forth. Dang it. Still trying to figure out where the line begins though.)

"Hey Boils & Ghouls. Here's some more details on this year's early arrival program. It's available to all guests between 5-6:15 PM each night

You will be wrist banded and allowed to stay in the park before HHN officially opens at 7. Check out a ride, grab some food....etc

We will make two mazes available for early arrival. Walking Dead and Insidious on the lower lot. Both of those mazes will open early at 6:30

On certain nights we will do an early show of Jabbawockeez as well...if we are, that will be announced at the main gate so listen for that"

    1. After that, head out to the backlot via the tram for AVP and Crimson Peak, then head upstairs for the rest of HHN. That should work best

So here's my advise. Do early arrival (between 5-6:15). Do Walking Dead & Insidious first, then hit This is the End at 7.

Looks like there's no need for AP First Stab. If anything, regular early entry sounds AMAZING.

  5. I mean from a design stand point, the 3D usage and colors don't represent the film at all. And the creature that's not even in the movie is overly used at least 2 or 3 times already within the first few hallways, in places that don't make much sense with the film.

I mean, I hated the idea of it being a maze at HHN (I totally wouldn't care if it were at Knotts), but if they're gonna do it, might as well do it right.

  6. Give the event a couple weekends to get a good stride going and then place your judgement.

Opening night, that's the deadline. Sure you can't completely judge based on the EP night, but saying to wait a few weekends before judgment is not acceptable. 99% of people attending opening weekend are only going to the event that one time, so everything needs to be AS INTENDED by the time the first person walks into the park for early entry on September 18th. They won't get a second chance to judge, that will be their one and only time, and if they walk away from this year saying "this year sucked," then their opinion is going to be completely valid and hold up because they saw the INTENDED product. Yes, things will improve and will get better as things go along, but one can rightfully judge once opening night begins from their one trip. Once opening night hits, anything good or bad is now apart of the event's history and Murdy/Universal has to answer for it.

Not everyone can be like me and can judge the year as a whole from 2 - 3 visits. But real judgment begins this Friday, so be ready, because any criticisms starting from that point on are valid.

  7. Found the whole show on Youtube. It's 25 minutes. I skimmed through, and just what I feared, there's nothing Halloween or horror related about it :-/

It's also nowhere near as energetic as Bill and Ted. Plus it seems very long for there to be no talking for half an hour. I was somewhat game to see this, but this is now at the very bottom of the barrel and will only see it if I have beyond an extra amount of time.

  8. The problem is every year we get an insanely stupid maze that has no business being at the event. Murdy says HHN is about taking risks (which is funny because they use the same damn scare tactics every year) but the mazes he takes risks for are liked by a very small minority. Black Sabbath, Clowns, AC Goes to Hell and one or two others -- honestly, I would've rather had them off the line-up and had the budget spruced up into the other mazes so they felt more complete. For example, we didn't need HOTC back for 2011, we needed less blank walls in The Thing. We didn't need Black Sabbath, we needed less dummies in Evil Dead because that should have been maze of the year, but instead it was done a few notches below because of piss-poor execution. Nobody is scared of static mannequins! Nobody! I don't care what lighting or audio trigger you have directed toward them, they are not convincing in any shape or manner!

  9. So from looking at the EPN wait times... (if they're any indication, which they're probably not) then this would be the best plan of action IF YOU WANT TO SPACE OUT YOUR NIGHT (if you wanna do doubles, I'm not entirely sure):

Insidious in Early Entry first (most popular maze of the night)

Run over to The Walking Dead (this and Insidious were often tied)

Head to the backlot, and hit AVP (oddly still getting HUGE lines)

Then quickly hit Crimson Peak (which had practically a walk-on the entire night except for one hour block it went up to 10 minutes)

Come back to the lower lot and hit This Is The End (had zero wait the first hour, but built up steadily as the night went on)

Then go upstairs, hit Terror Tram as usual

Then Jabowackeez and Halloween, however you wanna finish off your night (Halloween was slammed once it opened, cooled down, then got busy again)

Basically, like my plan always does, the first 4 mazes are practically walk ons with 2 mazes you gotta wait 30-60 for, but if you did everything right, you should be done by 11-12 AM. And that would be at a steady pace. If you rush everything and maybe change some things up, like rush to This Is The End before doing the backlot while it still has a small line (but run the risk of AVP's line growing bigger) then that definitely might work if you're in a small group or literally running around.
