  1. ROYAL RUMBLE 2014

Sunday Jan. 26. Pre Show: 7:30 Eastern on YouTube. PPV @ 8PM Eastern

WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust vs. The New Age Outlaws

    yvEhgCa.jpg

Sunday at Royal Rumble, mainstays of the Attitude Era that will soon be a huge part of the WWE Network will comprise what promises to be an epic WWE Tag Team Championship Match. Time will seem to have stopped when The New Age Outlaws, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn look to add a sixth tandem title to their legacy by dethroning the dynamic dynasty of Goldust and Cody Rhodes, his younger sibling by 16 years.

After abandoning CM Punk in a Six-Man Tag Team Match against The Shield and then seemingly being rewarded by their old DX running buddy turned WWE Chief Operating Officer, Triple H, with a non-title match against the WWE Tag Team Champions, the Outlaws stole a victory on SmackDown thanks to a timely interruption by Vickie Guerrero and a handful of tights. Furthering their “fortunate” circumstances, The New Age Outlaws have now been rewarded with a WWE Tag Team Title Match on Royal Rumble Kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, live on WWE.com, the WWE App, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Samsung Smart TVs, Xbox, Sony PS3, Pinterest and Pheed, with a special Kickoff Panel featuring WWE Hall of Famers "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels.

    Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar

    395d9Rv.jpg

On Jan. 26 at Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar returns to a WWE ring for a fight, though his opposition will not be any ordinary Superstar but rather a true giant in the form of the 7-foot, 425-pound Big Show. Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, accepted a challenge issued by The World’s Largest Athlete on SmackDown, clearing the path for a colossal fight between arguably WWE’s two most intimidating warriors.

The turbulent Lesnar surprisingly reappeared on the last Raw of 2013 to not only name himself the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but to also brutalize Mark Henry — a punishing act he repeated the following week, fracturing Henry’s arm and dislocating his elbow with the Kimura Lock. Moments later, Big Show stormed the ring and made The Beast Incarnate look uncharacteristically human, tossing the former mixed martial artist’s nearly 300-pound frame across the ring.

Big Show has since dispelled the notion he was trying to be heroic, instead stating simply that he has disliked Lesnar since The Beast Incarnate’s initial stint in WWE a decade ago. Even though the two juggernauts collided back then, both Superstars are different, more evolved, combatants now: Lesnar’s fighting game in 2014 is informed by his experience dominating the Octagon, while Show has added the lethal KO Punch to his already XXL-sized arsenal.

Even if the 30-man Royal Rumble Match wasn’t taking place on Jan. 26, the ring would still have to be reinforced to accommodate this monstrous matchup. As the WWE Universe remembers well, a June 2003 altercation between The World’s Largest Athlete and the Superstar then dubbed The Next Big Thing was so massive and so intense that it literally broke a WWE ring in a moment that lives on forever in WWE highlight reels.

    Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt

    fdLf0qK.jpg

Good and evil will meet head-on this Sunday when WWE’s beloved “Yes!” man, Daniel Bryan, faces the sermonizing savage known as Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble.

With his seeming indoctrination of Bryan several weeks ago, Wyatt may have thought he was on his way to helping yet another follower tap into his inner monster. Yet, as the WWE Universe and Wyatt found out in one of the most rousing scenes in Raw history on Jan. 13, The Beard cannot be tamed. Just one week after donning Wyatt Family garb for the first time, Bryan escaped Wyatt’s clutches and decimated The Eater of Worlds inside a padlocked steel cage, much to the jubilation of WWE fans.

Bryan’s short-lived affiliation with the Family, it appears, was a setup all along, a means of getting close to the enigmatic evildoer. In his short time in WWE, Wyatt has established himself as a master of head games, but how will he react knowing that he was outplayed by the tenacious submission specialist?

The two Superstars have crossed paths before, including in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match at WWE TLC in which The Beard fought valiantly but narrowly lost to The Eater of Worlds and his towering disciples, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan. Wyatt expresses precious little concern over victories and losses, seemingly placing greater importance on spreading his message. Still, one might assume he will have more to prove in his imminent showdown against the former WWE Champion.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. John Cena

    cRbCsmQ.jpg

In what is being called the biggest championship rematch in history, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton will defend his title against John Cena at the 2014 Royal Rumble.

This time, however, there will be no tables, ladders or chairs involved in the outcome. This epic rematch will be a true test of both Superstars’ skill inside the squared circle. After announcing the monumental bout, Stephanie McMahon declared that there will be no stipulations, no interference and no excuses in the championship clash. It will be one fall to a finish and will end by pinfall or submission.

The battle scars are still fresh on both competitors from a brutal Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match at WWE TLC 2013. Though he was handcuffed to the turnbuckle at one point, Cena battled free from his shackles and nearly became the Champion of Champions. The cunning Viper, however, shoved the Cenation leader off a ladder, sending him crashing into a table propped up in the corner. That gave Orton the opening to grab both titles from their golden perch high above the ring, unifying sports-entertainment’s top two prizes into one ultimate championship.

There won’t be any room for shenanigans on Jan. 26, 2014, when Cena and Orton write another chapter in their storied history that dates back to their time in WWE’s developmental system. Though the vicious temptations of the TLC Match won’t be looming nearby, there’s still no doubt that they’ll throw everything they physically have at each other to walk out of Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center and onto The Road to WrestleMania XXX with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in their possession.

    The 30-Superstar Royal Rumble Match

    ALSebX1.jpg

On Sunday, Jan. 26, arguably the single most anticipated contest of the entire year, the 30-Superstar Royal Rumble Match, returns to pay-per-view!

In addition to being one of WWE’s proudest annual traditions, the multi-man melee is also one of the most important: The victor gains nothing short of a career-defining opportunity in the form of a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at WrestleMania XXX this April.

Royal Rumble Match by the Numbers: Part 1 | Part 2

To make such a lifelong dream come to fruition, however, the winning Superstar must first outlast 29 of his peers in a unique match format that is rife with risk. Royal Rumble’s eponymous match works this way: Prior to the contest, all 30 Superstars draw a number, which determines the order of entry. The competitors who draw Nos. 1 (CM Punk) and 2 begin in the ring, with a new participant joining the pack every 90 seconds. Every man fights for himself, and elimination only occurs when a Superstar is thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. The final wrestler left standing in the ring is declared the winner.

As of the Jan. 20 edition of Raw, the following Superstars have been announced as official entrants in this year's 30-Superstar Royal Rumble Match:

    • Batista | Watch Batista's Royal Rumble Match preview video
    • CM Punk (Director of Operations Kane declared Punk will enter the match at No. 1)
    • Alberto Del Rio

    • The Miz

  2. Well, we lost a wrestling great last night. Born Johnnie Mae Young in Oklahoma in 1923, Young began her professional wrestling career in the 1940s and remained active into late last year, making her the only wrestler to believed to have competed in eight different decades. In a statement, WWE called Young the "oldest living squared circle personality." Young was the first ever NWA United States Women's Champion and the only wrestler with an eight decade career. Young receiver her greatest acclaim — and greatest following — in the final decades of her life, particularly when WWE made her and friend and fellow Hall of Famer the Fabulous Moolah the subject of several comedic storylines. Moolah (Mary Lillian Ellison) died in 2007 at age 84, born the same year as Young. Young lived to be 90 which is a pretty big accomplishment within itself.

  6. More like overmarketing.

You cant overmarket. Yes there is an unnecessary amount of marketing but theres probably a reason behind it. Higher ups probably want some sales on this dvd that more than likely wont make any money. Parks dont pick movies that are coming out just because its convenient, 9 times out of 10 its just for Uni to advertise their product. That being said they should calm down on the "Curse of Chucky" signage.
