So for you HHN vets the original houses gets you more excited?  will be attending my first HHN in October and im most excited for the IP houses, but i have nothing to base it on outside of familiarity.

Absolutely! I've been going to HHN since 2003 and just as many others have stated, the originals have mystery and "the unknown" surrounding them. There's not a much better mix than that for a great house! While some IP's over the years have been favorites, there are far more originals that I've enjoyed. The IP's can be very hit or miss because if you're familiar with it, there won't be much that's unexpected. But with originals, it's amazing reading about the story lines that are created and then physically seeing this new idea come to life. There's nothing like it. Enjoy! :)

Sometimes, clues and hints can be extremely obtuse and complicated. I actually made a concerted effort (that I feel got more effective after clue set 3) to make clues that WEREN'T difficult. They require a little research and thought, but not a huge amount of background knowledge (@mystique). They allow wrong answers, but I hope is that when houses are revealed, the seem obvious. Every single one has been figured out, at least.

And today SHOULD be tickets (bring money), AoV, and 3 zones.

Your clues are fantastic and so very appreciated! You're awesome. So thank you for that! So far, when houses are revealed I'm definitely able to piece the clues that were left together.

Editing to add: I enjoy trying to figure them out, regardless of how much I stink at it! lol

I love the speculation but always end up feeling dumb cause I never understand the hints/clues lol

ME TOO. I always want to add something of importance but I can never understand the clues quick enough. Oh well, still enjoy the speculation! I'll just keep creeping in the shadows and watching from afar B)

This looks really good! But I’m pissed it wasn’t an icon Who’s all been to the ‘08 one?

I went to the '08 one. I went through multiple times and it never disappointed. I remember it being very disorienting in the best way possible :)

  5. We did the UTH tour on Sunday, 10/29. It was the first time we ever went. Although it was a slight bummer there were restrictions on what we could take pictures of, I don't feel like it completely destroyed the experience.

    Order of houses:

    1. Blumhouse

    2. Scarecrow

    3. The Fallen

    4. Dead Waters

    5. AHS

    6. The Shining

I was pretty happy with the houses that were chosen. I did find it interesting that our guide let us choose between The Hive and Scarecrow. Scarecrow was literally pitch black throughout almost the whole house even though it was during the day and we had to use a flashlight while walking through...it was actually really cool. It felt creepy and it was great.

We started at 11:30, got done around 4:30 or so.

We don't have any other years to compare it to, as it was everyone in my groups first time experiencing it but we all thoroughly enjoyed it!

    I'll also say this...

The week we went, the weather was predicting A LOT of rain each night we went. It turned out that it only rained for about 15mins one of the nights.

Precipitation in Florida is so sporadic and difficult to predict, that it might be pouring down rain 10 miles from where you're at, and you might not be seeing much of anything.

Grab some cheap ponchos at Walgreens just in case, and hope for the best.

Absolutely! I've lived in FL forever so I know how unpredictable it is..it sucks lol! And we did buy ponchos to prepare, just in case.

If it is raining lightly or spitting, the zones will be open and the SA's will be out. In Festival, the stages aren't used if it is too rainy as they will be too wet and unsafe. The streets won't have SA's if it starts raining too heavily. The houses aren't usually affected as much by the rain....unless water actually runs into the house or opening of the house.

Thank you! I feel better now having an idea of what to expect. We're still gonna take our chances Saturday, but we decided to also go Sunday as well..I don't want to take a chance and miss anything lol. But thank you again, I appreciate it!

  8. Hey guys so I'm going this Saturday, and from all of the weather sources I'm checking it's supposed to rain all night. Out of all of the times I've gone, it's only rained twice(which I feel super lucky about lol). Both times it only rained for an hour or so and that was it, it was done for the rest of the night. Saturday is supposed to be a "steady rain". What can I expect? What type of rain stops the scarezones? Same with the houses? Sorry, I'm not trying to ask stupid questions..just trying to prepare. I'm so bummed.

  9. I'm really loving all of the reviews you guys are doing! My group isn't going until October 28th and unfortunately it's the only time we can go this year :( I'm chomping at the bit because I normally go multiple times, and have gone once by this time in years past. IT'S KILLING ME. SO yeah, these reviews are keeping me going until I'm actually able to go. I'm most excited for scarecrow, the fallen, and the TrT SZ. I had my doubts about The Shining because I wasn't sure how they'd be able to translate it, but I did keep my hopes up (atleast a little) because of how much I ended up liking the exorcist. Has anyone gone through the shining multiple times and had atleast one good go??

    I have a theory.

The theory is that there is a "head of household" per house and that character will be one of four icons they'll be using to headline the event in the future. The Voodoo Queen for Dead Waters, Nathaniel Crow for The Reaping and we'll start to learn the other two names of the "heads of household" for the other two houses. I feel like Universal has used the classic icons for awhile now and their "Festival of the Deadliest" is the way of introducing us to new icons.

    Just a thought.

Oh, wow! What an interesting thought. And after reading it, I wouldn't say you're too far off. It sounds totally plausible. I hope that's what's actually going to happen, because it's a fantastic idea.

Long time lurker here! Been lurking on this site for the past 3 years to find out the newest info on HHN! I travel from Portland Oregon every year since 2013 to go to HHN and I can't be more excited about the original house lineup this year. Just wanted to officially drop in and join the Horror night nightmares family!

I'm also a long time lurker! I finally got the guts to join lol I'm super excited about the original lineup this year, as well! More excited than past years. It took forever for them to release things, but in the end it's alright. How do you guys feel about the lack of an icon this year? Honestly, I'm not too upset about it.
