Don't worry in won't happen. Although you might wish it would :P

In other news, some info trickling down I caught wind of. Not at liberty... people's jobs... blah blah etc. etc.

But, if true, nothing jumps out and grabs me. Everything was safe and predictable and not (IMO) worth even hinting at. But it may all just be safe bets and logical calculations from observant people... which worked very well the last few years. Still, too early to tell without a direct tap of a source and i just don't have the desire to do it anymore.

Here's a question to postulate, as I'm sure many have already. How many houses? I've heard wild rumors from 7-11. While it's all conjecture and speculation, my logical guess is 9 is not sustainable. Anything more than that requires 2 parks and that isn't bloody likely. The only way I see 2 parks happening is if they are forced to by space restraints... but they are resourceful and it won't happen. They should be fine to sustain the 8 houses. Although it isn't out of the realm of possibility of going back to 7. Personally, 9 is too much for a single night event.

    As for what I expect:

TWD, a classic horror movie adapted, 1-2 current horror movies adapted, Possibly another T.V. show adapted, Old ideas brought back, Something to play on the popularity of " The Witch" but not actually the movie (witch would be an original house), a franchise to come back, and a new original. If we have to have 9 houses throw in another classic movie adaptation.

    Scarezones... a bit trickier but:

Pumpkins/witch jars in CP, traditional Halloween area (maybe one in the same), Something to tie to an IP, something new possibly

    What I don't expect:

A cohesive theme outside of marketing

    An interactive site with games

    An Icon (unless it's Jack)

    An "extreme" house

    GATS

    A.H.S.

    Anything from Stephen King

    Anything from Hitchcock
    Two Parks

Blood N' Gutz, LITC, or a dark comedy house at all

    A 3-D house

Anything really out of the box

Would the classic horror film adaptation be an A&D pet project much like AWIL, Halloween and FvJ?

Really? You didn't hear about this? This was Murdy's secret project. One of the leakers from 2015's line up said that Murdy is working on a year round haunt themed to TWD that will go in the HoB replacement building. That gap between that building and Baker will be for a queue.

So so that's one house down. Add Conjuring and FVJ to most likely and we already know almost half the line up already.

Well.. one of his secret projects anyway.. :ninja:

  3. *looks for "Ink and Paint" house treatment from a few years ago. Can't find it*

I drafted a house concept where an animator began thinking the characters he created ("Ink" & "Paint", an even more twisted take on Ren and Stimpy) told him to kill all his coworkers. Which he did. The ghosts of his victims still haunt the place, as well as Ink and Paint, who appear on screens and drawing desks throughout. Two thirds of the way through, you enter their cartoon world (by walking through the screen of the screening room). The finale is basically your escape.

Universal is one of the only places that could really pull it off, but they never would.

Wasn't the original Icon for 2003 an evil Walt Disney-type animator or comic book artist that brought all his twisted cartoons to life amongst IOA?

  4. A bit late but here is my final review of HHN 2015.. This was a very solid year for HHN Hollywood.. It's a very long review so be warned
    Mazes:
Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home: 10/10 = I really, really enjoyed this maze.. Loved seeing the dilapidated Myers house facade, the hedge scene, the clown murder, the phone call kill, the Trick or Treaters and Silver Shamrock jingle from Halloween III, and that final room.. dear lord, that room scared me every time I went through the maze..
Insidious: Return To The Further: 10/10 = THIS MAZE SCARED ME SO BAD... Based on all three Insidious movies, it was really detailed, it was beyond frightening.. got so many good scares in this maze, especially from the Darth Maul demon and the Creepy Bride.. The Man Who Cannot Breathe was also terrifying every time I went through.. Really put you in the midst of the Insidious trilogy.. also got to interact with Tucker and Specs and got to see them play a game of Ninja, Hunter, Bear with Freak lol
The Walking Dead: Wolves Not Far: 9/10 = Okay, last year, I was all burned out on Walking Dead and I was ready to see HHN retire this property for good. I was so tired of seeing it everywhere the last few years at HHN, I was dreading going into this maze, afraid I was going to find it a chore to go through... I.. WAS.. WRONG... It really looks like Murdy took last year's criticisms of the maze to heart and gave us a brand new experience based on the show.. Going through Terminus and all the sets from Season 5 was great and I got really good scares.. I enjoyed this maze and I only dock one point off because I was hoping that the SS28 remains would have housed a Universal Classic Monsters maze.. But overall a great maze
This Is The End 3D: 3/10 = My least favorite maze of the event.. I got what they were going for (comedy horror) but it just fell flat.. I did like some of the 3D visuals but that was about it.. Not a knock on the cast, they did their best with the material given to them but this was a bit of a misfire.. I did like the Heaven/Hell scene at the end though..
Alien Vs. Predator: 6/10 = Loved it last year, it was very fun to go through again this year, but my last run-through, there were hardly any scareactors in the first half of the maze..
Crimson Peak: Maze of Madness: 10/10 = This maze was just absolutely gorgeous to look at.. The scares were excellent and I still have to see this movie.. Going through the maze a few times just to take in all the detail.. It truly was one of the most gorgeous mazes ever designed at HHN Hollywood.. I really, really love atmospheric mazes like this where the sets are just stunning to look at..

HHN 2015 review: (cont) Scarezones, Terror Tram and overall thoughts on this year
    Scarezones:
Exterminatorz: 9/10 = I loved the vibe, loved the scareactor designs, loved the energy in this scarezone, loved the street decor.. My only gripe was the lack of Icon/barker character.. Yes, I know what happened last year with The Purge Auctioneer. :( Still, I loved this scarezone and I wouldn't mind an Exterminatorz maze at some point
Dark Christmas: 10 OUT OF FREAKING 10 = I STILL LOVE THIS SCAREZONE!! I spent quite a bit of time just walking up and down this scarezone, taking in the evil Christmas/Krampus vibe.. This better get a maze at some point! Preferably involving a gothic cathedral decked out with Christmas stainglass windows as the facade . ;)
Corpz: 9/10 = At first, I thought this was a bit of a letdown compared to The Phantom of the Opera-esque Mask-A-Raid scarezone last year which I really, really liked, but the more I walked through Corpz, the more I dug the World War I vibe and I actually wouldn't mind seeing a Corpz maze similar to HHN Orlando's Nightingales: Blood Prey
and this is going to be a double review..
The Purge: Urban Nightmare/Terror Tram: Survive The Purge: 10/10 (counting them both together since they're both Purge themed) = The Purge: Urban Nightmare on the NYC Metro Sets was one of the grittiest and most intense scarezones I ever walked through.. every corner of the backlot sets, there were Purgers on the prowl.. Terror Tram: Survive The Purge was one of the better Terror Trams I've seen at HHN thus far.. I really loved the set-up (going to the Purge party) and especially the video.. It was.. wait for it... FABULOUS-ly done and really set the mood for what we would face on the Terror Tram.. the Tram itself was very good, same route but still, the cast gave it their all and I got some good scares both times I did it.. really good Tram this year. :)
I did not do the Jabbawockeez dance show.. no offense to them or their fans, I've seen them on YouTube and they are good at what they do, I respect their talent as dancers, but.. I really miss the days of shows like Bill and Ted and Rocky Horror Picture Show and even Chucky's Insult Emporium.. Hopefully someday we'll get a show along those lines again or even one similar to HHN Orlando's The Carnage Returns..
Overall thoughts on this year/wishes for next year: 2015 was a year I went into with slightly lowered expectations based on all the returning content but I knew that the HHN design team would try their best to scare me and put on a good event.. and I have to say this was one of their better years content-wise... I was especially impressed by my last visit on Friday where every maze, scarezone and Tram cast was on their A+ game and out for those final drops of blood before the season ended.. And now.. 2016 is going to be interesting because as we all know, a boy wizard by the name of Harry Potter is setting up shop at Universal and bringing the village of Hogsmeade and his Forbidden Journey to Universal Studios Hollywood.. How this will affect HHN, no one knows for sure.. And as far as wishful thinking for next year, I really want Freddy Vs. Jason, American Horror Story, The Conjuring, Dark Christmas, maybe a fairy tales maze similar to Orlando's Asylum In Wonderland and a proper Universal Classic Monsters maze that celebrates the original Monsters that invented the horror movie.

  5. Well, it started for me in 2007 when I saw the commercials for HHN 2007 with Jack, Freddy, Jason and Leatherface.. I wanted to go but due to other priorities, I missed out that year.. I went in 2008 and I thought to myself "This was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had relating to Halloween".. went back over the following few years and became a huge fan of the HHN events in both Hollywood and Orlando.. Almost did not go in 2010 because I was so enraged at the lack of original content, the repeats and Murdy deciding NOT to bring back Rocky Horror (Those of you who were on the boards at the time should remember my tantrums/meltdowns over the decision), but I gave it a chance and wound up enjoying the night.. I watched 2011 with a close eye and with great interest.. All throughout, I followed Murdy on Twitter from the first week he started the account and was struck by how cool he was towards the fans and how he really cared about what we had to say regarding the event.. I admit, I am guilty of going off on him due to certain decisions but like Freak said, life's too short to channel too much anger into an event like HHN which is only a few months out of the year.. All that came to it's peak in 2012 when I won a backstage tour on Twitter and got to meet him and tour La Llorona with him, my friend who used to be on these forums and my mom and uncle.. It was such a cool experience to go through the maze room by room, have him answer our questions about the maze and explain where the ideas came from and the little easter eggs hidden within the maze.. After that, I walked away with even more respect for him than I already had. I would see him around at the horror conventions and he'd always remember me and he'd always be open to talk with not only me but all the fans who waited in line for pictures, autographs etc.. from him and Chris Williams.. I know that as fans of this event, we want certain things at HHN that Murdy has either no interest in (Icons, Scream) or cannot make happen at the moment and I know we get a bit angry over what we DO get at times but all in all, from the bottom of my horror-loving heart, I want to say thank you to John Murdy for the last 10 years of HHN.. You fought to bring it back to Universal Hollywood after being told it was never going to work due to the competition from Knott's and due to living in the shadow of HHN Orlando's already impressive reputation.. But you didn't let any of that deter you.. You brought to life some of the greatest horror IPs at the event with passion and vigor, hoping not only to provide a good scare, but to make the fans of those IPs go "That was the coolest fucking thing ever to walk through my favorite movies and seeing everything up close and in perfect detail". *sniffles* I'm getting a bit emotional, but I just wanted to say thank you Murdy.. without HHN Hollywood, I would not have discovered my love and passion for horror and like Grind, I want one of my horror films featured as a maze at HHN someday.. I also would not have made such wonderful friends that I met through HHN.. I've said my piece.. Goodbye Murdy and one more time.. thanks for everything..

(Felt that this was appropriate due to the title as well as Sarah Brightman originating the role of Christine in the Broadway musical version of one of Murdy's favorite UCM films, The Phantom of the Opera)

  6. ^I fully realize Insidious is a PG-13 franchise.  The only reason it works is because there are lots of frightening creatures and cool environments to work with. With Krampus, the whole movie is, judging by the trailer, going to be entirely in the house. With that, you may have Krampus, but no kills to show that would be HHN-worthy. I think Murdy should just stick with an original Dark Christmas house. I would've preferred that over Krampus anyway.

Plus an original Dark Christmas maze would allow for much more jaw-dropping and spectacular Christmas-y/Winter-y sets/environments rather than having to stick with just suburban houses seen in the movie
