That would be great. I think a mega house with three or four short stories represented would be great. You Know They Got A Hell Of A Band would make a great comedy house.

I was hoping for a Maximum Overdrive house lolol

  3. I just don't get how they expect ppl to book flights, rent hotels, buy tickets, and spend all this cash and only give us two house announcements.  We're almost 2 months away from opening night.  If I weren't only a 3 hours drive away I wouldn't even bother making the arrangements to take time off of work for an event that i know little to nothing about.

  4. Yea I get that if you go with a plan you can avoid lines but since I can only go one night a year I want to be able to do everything without having to plan just take a stroll through scarezones and enter houses as I please.  When I got into the park last year AHS was the first house I did and it was already a 2 hour wait when I came in through the gate, and it was at 90 minutes when we left.  No way I was going to wait that, without the pass I wouldn't have been able to experience it.

I am a huge fan of touring plans and guides otherwise, I use them when I go to Disney or UO during the day but for HHN express passes are a must for me.

I love hearing about everyone's HHN traditions! Since news is scarce now, I'll ask another question to prompt discussion: Who here splurges on Express passes? I know my fiance and I do, but I have friends who avidly love HHN yet still don't buy it. I think for something I go to at least 20 times, it just makes sense. Thoughts?

I always splurge for express passes.  Right now I can only getaway for a weekend.  I live in Miami but it adds up to rent hotel plus food, gas, etc..   In the future, when I get more time off and can take a week off and maybe do the rush of fear or frequent fear and can go more often then maybe I wouldn't have to.

I think I'd still prefer to have them though, its nice being able to just take your time making the rounds rather than having to run to the big IP before the line becomes 3 hours long.   Last year I went the Sunday right after the hurricane closed down the park (I believe it was also hell week), and it was so crowded.  I still didn't have to wait for anything except like 30 min for Halloween.  It's so worth it IMO.  This year I am going Sept 24th which seems to be way less crowded judging by how much less our tickets and express passes were.  If the wait times are low enough I can save my passes for later in the night :) and do everything twice

I already bought one for the sole intent on using it for HHN this year and so far it's awesome. We are going to test it at the park on Monday. My fiance and I love the event and go almost every night, so saving a few dollars each night on alcohol helps!

Haha I had no idea it existed such a great idea! Let me know how it goes when you test it out at the park.

Speculation is so sparse because marketing sucks so bad we're now talking about other parks and traveling in general lmao.

Yea marketing really does suck.  Don't they want to spark interest again and announce something now that tickets are on sale?

  8. I always get the blinky cup :).  To me HHN is a vacation of sorts (probably my fave of the year) so I like to have a drink or two.  Like with any event there are those people who don't know their limits and end up vomiting in a corner or acting like a-holes.  I don't think it strictly applies to HHN though, I mean just take a walk down EPCOT's world showcase and you are sure to find a group of drunken college kids drinking (or puking) around the world.

Time for a Hollywood goer to jump in on this lol. The alcohol sales only stopped quite recently, however they were not sold to everybody. Alcohol only used to be sold to the VIP's and they were limited to 2 drinks a night. With the VIP experience being taken away, the alcohol was taken away too. I think the Hollywood crowd is much different than the Orlando crowd too, our crowd seems full of a bunch of morons who would be drunk in the park and hit the actors, so from what I've seen it's just trying to ensure the safety of our actors

Wow that is awful.   Sad how a few morons can ruin it for everyone else.  I am sure we have our share of morons as well.  I haven't heard of anyone hitting the scare actors though but I have heard about female actor's being groped, which is just infuriating.  I heard that a few years ago though hopefully they've done something to prevent that from happening.

Universal Hollywood is NOT a dry park during the day.

You would think that because Orlando HHN had alcohol, Hollywood HHN would follow suit, right?

My theory is that Hollywood had to take cues from competing attractions.  Within a 40 mile radius you have Magic Mountain, Disneyland, and Knotts).

Magic Mountain did haunts, and they were dry because the place attracted gang bangers and they had a real problem with fights breaking out.  They were nicknamed "Six Stabs Tragic Mountain".  Knotts was still family owned and were dry and yet wildly successful with their haunt which sold out every night.

Since then Magic Mountain is still dry.  Knotts is NOT dry, but they have a wrist band and limit to one or two drinks.

HHN is also still dry during HHN, but alcohol is sold in Citywalk and, frankly, quite a few people come "pre-moistened" for the event...  I imagine it's also very easy to sneak alcohol in a plastic container.

So Hollywood sells alcohol during the day but is dry for HHN.  I think they are very risk averse, considering the crowds it attracts.

What is truly funny is that HHN Hollywood still sells Jello shots at every stand and even has Blood Bag girls.  But they are just selling Jello.  And people buy it.

Lmao the Jello thing is pretty hilarious.  Still not sure why they just don't limit alcohol sales in Hollywood, or maybe just sell beer and wine.  Orlando is pretty strict, I don't know if you can even get shots besides the Jello ones but I doubt those have much alcohol in em.  Last year we ordered drinks and paid for them showed our IDs and before the drinks were made my boyfriend went to the bathroom and they would only give me my drink they wouldn't let me walk away with both of ours.

  11. Was there something that sparked Hollywood to make it a dry event? Are they normally a dry park?

I imagine Orlando has probably had some issues with people who cannot handle their alcohol but they've managed to keep it under control to my knowledge.  I think the 3 hour lines really sober ya up.

One big difference between the 2 is that Orlando sells alcohol at the event and Hollywood doesn't. Not to sound like an alcoholic (I only drink on occasions) , but I like to have a few drinks while walking around HHN and I think it's foolish of them to not sell alcohol.

LOL yes I was wanting to ask that too.  I'm not a big drinker but it is pretty damn fun to have a few drinks and get chased by a man wielding a chain saw.  Also going on the roller coaster is a pretty cool experience too.  I know some people say they have issues with "drunkards" but I went on possibly the most crowded night of the year last year and I didn't see anyone belligerently drunk or anything.

They're very different; Besides sharing IP's their mazes are usually different and they usually have one or two exclusive IP houses(this year they have Insidious and Leatherface or The Thing). It looks like the only Icon house(s) would be if the unused icons are the icons this year, which would make Bayou of Blood and the Scarecrow house Icon mazes.

Yea I was showing a friend a video of the  AHS maze and I didn't realize I had clicked on a walk through of the Hollywood one and it was noticeably different.  How is the terror tram? I've seen some videos, it looks really cool.  I'd love to be able to go to both.

We have a room called The Asylum, and we promote the fact that we can alter the "scare" level from 1-10 based on what the customer wants.  We've got some good effects in that room, not to mention an extremely immersive set design (we had one of our friends from Universal A&D help us with the set, so I'm not joking or bragging).

I've been thinking of something cool to surprise my boyfriend with for his birthday, while we are in Orlando in August.   He would love this!  I will def be booking :)

You dont get why its a big deal for a title of something not having anything to do with its content????? AvED and ED2 are completely different things. Sure they share a character and monster but thats about it.

To me personally no I don't find it to be a big deal if they want to name it something else to promote the show, I just want it to be good.  I understand your point but it doesn't really bother me, I've never seen the show so maybe that's why.

  16. I wish Orlando would only do one season of AHS like Hollywood is doing tbh.  I feel like each season has so much content since there is usually various story lines going on at once.  Freak Show could have been a great maze on its own last year.

Well, there was def a lack of guns. I mean I think GT had a few (could be wrong) but other areas where you'd kind of expect them (I.E Survive or Die, Walking Dead (can't remember seeing any in videos, as I myself didn't go?) they were absent. I remember a Purge zone being heavily speculated last year but people believed it was scrapped because of the tragic event.

I got that spot in GT where every scare actor popped out in my face and I'm pretty sure I had a few guns pop out at me but they seemed like those long toy wooden guns

I know this is the Orlando forum, but this might relate to you guys too because John Murdy(Hollywood's Aiello) confirmed Hollywood's getting an announcement within days, and Orlando keeps saying they're getting one "soon". So maybe a shared announcement of idk Evil Dead or Blumhouse?

Yea I was thinking the same, at least the first few announcements should be at the same time for both so when Murdy said mid-june i've been expecting one, maybe Friday?

I hope they announce the icon with this next announcement lol
