  1. Seeing the recent developments on twitter, I think Banshee's Lair might be moving on up the list. The stuff that's going up is very different from what we've seen before in that Central Park area.

As for disappointments, I try not to go in with the mindset of being disappointed. I mean, it happens (looking at you Screampunk), but I'm definitely trying to keep an open mind about the things I'm more apprehensive about.

  2. I think even people that were not hot on the movie are loving the idea of it as a maze for the event. What with all the creatures and such, it makes for a great variety in scares. I loved it, but everyone's horror cup of tea is different so to speak.

I said the same thing about Rubberman. Unless they use a different material to make it easier, that costume is gonna be hell to wear/get into. Someone mentioned using a morph suit, but IDK I just don't see that giving the same effect cause of the different materials, but what do I know I'm not a costumer, lol.

Seriously though, they are being super secretive about this season.

I AM a costumer (not for the parks) and I have a few ideas. The problem with making it lighter etc. is durability especially in an environment where guest wear-and-tear really takes its toll. As others have mentioned, something like what you get in popup Halloween Shops would definitely be a lot easier to wear but won't hold up under the stress of maze conditions.

The Rubberman is probably the scariest visual from Murder House (besides a certain scene with a drill that I try daily not to think about) so I'm very curious to see how he is used.

  4. I have high hopes for this one. And as many have said, if this becomes the new repeat house, at least they have tons of stuff to play around with. Didn't they do a similar mattress scare in Wyandot Estate a while back? Excited to see how that particular aspect translates.

  5. I can see maybe why they wouldn't use Coven, I can't think off the top of my head of a lot of material from that season that would work in a maze, but leaving out Asylum is definitely a questionable choice. That only confirms that there will more than likely be future AHS mazes, at least from my viewpoint. Definitely excited about the maze, but Coven was by far my favorite season and I'll miss the southern gothic aesthetics.

That being said, Freak Show is of course a perfect choice, and I haven't finished Hotel yet, but I can see how it would lend itself to a haunt environment pretty easily.  Murder House was my least favorite, but again, it will work in terms of scares.

I feel sorry for the guy who has to play the Rubberman though, lol. And I thought the Krampus was gonna have it bad.

Curious that they're not doing anything in terms of reveal/promo for the upcoming season, but I suppose that could remain to be seen.

  6. Wharf had my heart from the words Annabel Lee :) This sounds like the best kind of lost Poe/Lovecraft  collab. I'm so excited to see how it turns out!

Close second is Chance, all of the concepts I'm hearing are really surprising me, and I think it will be fun and different. Also, as others have mentioned, the barker aspect is a major plus and I'm hoping we get a sort of minishow a la Icons with Chance.

Vamp 1955 has the potential to come out on top as well, I love when Horror Nights goes campy.

I'm also really interested in the Banshee concept but I have reservations, I really hope they do something that's not just bats and pumpkins in Central Park.

Survive or Die is the least interesting to me, it's too much Purge and not enough Saws and Steam.

Also super hype to see what's up with our chainsaw guys this year. It's gonna be a great year in the streets!

  7. Campy fun stuff is so well done at Horror Nights so I'm hype for this zone! They really have a knack for this kind of material and I have complete faith in the team to pull this off smashingly!

  8. This is such a great idea of a house to bring back! It's been a good amount of time, and lots of people who have recently gotten into the event's history and lore (cough cough me) get to experience something legendary with new technologies and scares! Since every original house has such a different flavor so to speak, it's hard to pick a favorite, but this one is definitely up there for me.

  9. Well that certainly makes things more difficult. I was thinking Cult when they were all first released, but now I really am not sure. As frustrating as it is not to know, it's also really exciting to be genuinely in the dark about something like this. Props to the crew for keeping it under wraps for so long!

@Gambit, great job on the billboard, it's fantastic! I hope something like that is the one we'll eventually see.

  10. Oh man, I really hope they use more of the awesome work from the website! The skull comedy tragedy masks, the border made of spines, and of course Chance are all so amazing, and really show off the talent of the art department. It's so well done, it would be a shame not to put it out there even more!

Granted, that is a mock up. They very easily could be adding more and just wanted to check on basic formatting and stuff.

As for American Horror Story, I'm excited it's coming,  and think it'll make a pretty fun house! They've got some great characters to work with, and even when the show is inconsistent (and even as a fan, I can admit it is) the aesthetics that will make up the house are super interesting and always visually fun. (Except for Murder House. So boring. I imagine we'll see an appearance from the Rubberman and that's about it)

  11. 1. Krampus! (My family has been cracking Krampus jokes long before the movie, so this maze is icing on a gingerbread house of tradition).

    2. Exorcist. I'm curious to see how they pull this one off, and what I've been hearing sounds amazing (also, this one has me truly terrified).

    3. Chance's House. This one has the potential to be higher but because we're so short on details I'll put it here. I love Chance and am so excited to see her get time in the spotlight.

    4.  Halloween II. I'm a  big Halloween fan, it was the first horror movie I remember enjoying outside of the classic monsters realm, and I definitely love the fire aspect that is probably going to be in this maze.

    5. Texas Chainsaw. I'm not a huge gore fan, and this falls into that category for me. I'm sure that this will be awesome, it's just not my style.

    6. Walking Dead. Self explanatory. Hopefully this will end the streak with a bang though.

If what I'm hearing is correct, the houses that are yet to be announced will absolutely shake this list up. Although I don't think anything will kick Krampus out of that top spot.

  12. If McDie is Leave it to Cleaver (or even tonally similar) I will cry tears of joy. I love the campy stuff :) But hey, clowns are always effective too. The Clownsaws last year did an excellent job, might be cool to see some familiar faces.

This list looks really awesome! The prospect of a samurai zone could be really visually interesting. Red and Black sound like something Chance-y maybe. Like a switching zone kind of like Seven, as some others have mentioned.

Evolutionary Turning Point sounds maybe like the Central Park zone? Something that's mutated, be it people, animals, plants, etc.

Interstellar Dreaming could be Chance too, but I'm placing my bets on Red and Black being her thing (geez, there's a lot of puns in there).

  13. Definitely don't think Roanoke is coming back this year, but it'll be interesting to find out if we'll be seeing some familiar props in a theoretical AHS house. Those photos make me pretty excited for the next season. Hotel bored me, but this looks pretty cool.

Especially with premiere dates and everything, I can't imagine a theoretical AHS house focusing solely on this upcoming season, but I am very curious as to what might end up in there for season 6.

As far as adding things as each episode premieres, depends on how they do it. If it involves actors and such, I doubt it will happen. Perhaps small easter eggs and such a la some of the stuff they've put into Walking Dead.

  14. Personally, even with lack of theming and such, The Conjuring just doesn't gel with the other announced houses. Even with our Walking Dead and potential IPs that could be coming in, all of the announcements thus far have been pre-1990. And Conjuring just doesn't bring a blendable aesthetic to the table for this year. Besides Exorcist and elements of Halloween, we're seeing a trend more towards the slasher/killer side of horror as opposed to the paranormal (and Exorcist has the visceral scares to match the physical violence of our other mazes). I don't know, I could just be rambling after three days of teaching at a drama camp, but to me, it makes sense that we wouldn't see it this year.
