  1. While obviously I think everyone has their own opinion before the event even begins, there's no reason to think that just because the Walker legion was removed from the website that that will be the downfall of the event and be the catalyst for future cuts. This event isn't even remotely set in stone going into opening weekend, not by a long shot. It is continuously tweaked the first several weeks of operation.

So don't something like the Walker legion being removed from the website be a red flag meaning anything at all. Go with the flow...this year is going to be an amazing one and in two weeks we'll all see why :)

  2. If it means that the other hordes get bigger, I'm all for it. Because of the nature of the event, they wouldn't be able to act like zombies anyway. Hard to do startle scares if you can only moan and shamble about. So not a big deal at all to me.

Exactly! I was wondering the same thing about what kind of scares they would get...since most of us can walk faster than a zombie shuffles, it wouldn't be very scary. Or challenging.

that is the only thing I am hoping for, I hope those actors go somewhere else zone wise,

but, can they do that? will they do that? I don't know, we have not heard anything about that happening from anybody

If they hired people for this zone and for one reason or another changed it up, those people will just be utilized in a different area...hiring them was already part of the budget for the event. :)

  3. Sliders were an effective scare tactic back in the early days of HHN, if memory serves me they were out on Hollywood Blvd. The crowds are so extensive these days, it would be virtually impossible to pull off what they did back then.

Another great tactic from the early years...tin cans full of marbles or pennies. Nothing makes people jump like sneaking up behind them and shaking one of those. I saw grown men scream and run like kids.

  4. Long gone are the days of Fright Nights when scareactors could and would chase your ass down. Like Jeramy said, it's a sue happy world nowadays. All it would take is someone tripping on a curb and busting their ankle whilst running from a zombie/vampire/beast etc. to bring a lawsuit on Uni, hell and everyone involved with that zone.

You'd like to think people are smart and would realize it's all make believe and not run screaming. I'm here to tell you, people are downright stupid. They wouldn't just run, they'd run into other people, inantimate objects, etc. They hit scareactors, other guests. It would be total pandamonium...even moreso than it can be already.

If anything this whole not having any safe zones is nothing but hype. Sure it'd be cool if that was the truth, but I think we all know that won't be the case.

  5. why do you guys hate Silverfish so much? what's wrong with them?

they look like prehistoric little bugs, I only saw some once when I got a book from a store, they were inside,

but why do you guys hate them so much? what's wrong with them? are they dangerous?

If you squoosh a bug, there should be evidence that it is dead...like a corpse. When you kill a silverfish, they disintegrate like they never existed. That is a huge creep factor for me and like Ryan said, their fast and they give me the heebie jeebies.

I can deal with all other bugs but silverfish...those things are just nasty.

  6. What I love the most about 30 Days of night is that, that is how vampires are supposed to be, what I mean is, that's how real legends of vampires described them,

I mean, that was the closest I Think movies have got, there are other movies where vampires look like demons, ( or shows like Buffy) but, I like 30 days a lot, because they still looked human, but really scary, dirty, and blood thirsty,

Yeap, you are so very right! If I had to picture what a real vampire looked like, the ones in 30 DON of would probably be what I would expect. They had those human elements, but you could also tell something wasn't right with them.

  8. I personally believe that we'll receive a decent variety of vamps, but the one movie I really hope they draw inspiration from is 30 Days of Night. A lot of the imagery from that film has really stuck with me over the years, and the idea of coming face-to-face with one of the 30DON vampires just sounds amazing.

Come on, how can you resist this face?

    30-days-of-night-vampire1.jpg

I forgot about the 30 DON variety of vampires...yeap, they scared the living bejesus out of me.

  9. He doesn't have fangs, and he sparkles in the sun. If that's what constitutes a vampire, than I have been SERIOUSLY misinformed my entire life.

If they make this horde more monstrous, it could be good. I'm thinking like the vamps from From Dusk Til Dawn with some bat or wolf characteristics mixed in.

That's what I'm thinking...give me the vamps from From Dusk Til Dawn, THAT'S in my minds eye what I picture a true vampire to be...they have fans, non-sparkling, dirty, gritty, evil and they just don't give a shit... :)

  10. I opened the construction pictures thread and had to change my pants immediately after. Winter's Night is basically a large part of the backdrop for the entire park and I am having all kinds of geek-gasms over it.

I guess this does confirm that the roaming hordes will rotate zones if the park has a central cemetery theme. I'd like to see the flags of each legion rotate with them throughout the night.

I was thinking the same thing! :) By having this seamless concept of the cemetary thoughout the park, the hordes will be able to transition from area to areas, if that's what is going to occur.

I really think we might be getting the interactive type scarezones we've all been clammering for for years now...this makes me a happy camper!

  11. Only employees get them. Some people are lucky enough to have a friend that works there. Others buy them off employees. I've been told its a huge no no to give them or sell them to someone. (coming from someone I know that works there)

Sorry for the typo, keyboard on phone sucks

We are allowed to give our employee preview tickets to a family member of friend, but selling them to anyone is a MAJOR no no.... :)...as it is with any comp tickets we receive. Of course, whoever you decide to give them to, you've got to trust that they aren't a complete idiot and try to sell them to someone else...which is why I am incredibly selective as to who I give any comp tickets to at all.

  12. AC still at the bottom and can now be found with Carl wondering around the woods muttering to itself "Why doesn't anyone like me."

I think one of the major issues with people not rating TWD higher is simply that they haven't watched the show. I think most people are just thinking "Eh, another zombie house..." For those of us who have watched TWD the past two seasons, it's the chance to follow in the footsteps of the characters we've invested so much time in.

Silent Hill being on top doesn't surprise me, especially considering all the gamers we have on the forum. I'm shocked to see Alice Cooper rock bottom though.

  13. Yeah, see my issue is that I tend to unintentionally go through houses quickly, not from fear, but because I'm really excited to see what's in the next room! :) Thankfully, with an event like HHN, I can blitz through it the first time, and then do it again and take it all in a bit better. And I plan on doing that a lot with this house, especially if there are strobes. I want to see as much detail as possible.

Funny little story to give you an idea on how I handle haunts: I was in MA last month for work, and ended up with a day to kill (thank you, American Airlines). So I hopped on over to Salem, MA, and did a couple year-round haunted houses there. Went through both of them solo, and was told on the second that I could make it as scary as I wanted. I told them to make it the scariest they could, and the guy yelled out that there was a 10 coming through. All I can say is, it could have been scarier. And I even tried to take my time through it too!

First time through, I'm the same way Ryan...it's like a kid on Christmas morning, you wanna see what surprises the next room has in store! Once we have discovered the houses that we really want to experience thoroughly, that's when we go back through several times, as slow as the pace will allow, so that we have a chance to take everything in.

Like you we plan on doing that with this house if the strobes and lightening effects are going to be as exceptional as we are hoping.

I can identify with that. That was me last year, walking slowly through The Forsaken last year. Alone. A lot.

Hoping for the same luck with this Parade House this year.

LOL...this sounds familiar, like something I would do...why yes, because we did the exact same thing! It's nice on those slower nights when you can really take your time walking through a house, taking in all the details and appreciating the hard work that goes into them.

  14. Maybe instead of a circus tent over the whole park, they can put spider webs over the whole park. And a paper skeleton in every window! And don't get me started on silverfish. They will have to escort me out for trying to smash every last one of their "props." :)

Don't say that or the next rumor we hear will be "Did you hear there is going to be a freaking huge spider web over the entire park? I hear they are buying it at the Dollar Store!"

If they ever had a house called "Silverfish" I wouldn't be able to even step foot inside it. I can handle every bug and creepy crawly out there, but those things. You kill them and they disintegrate...WTF is up with that?!!

  15. The Usher was more of an icon than The Director. He was not lacking in anyway what-so-ever. He was a product of A&D, NOT marketing, which The Director was, hence his poorly conceived backstory. Marketing doesn't give two shits about A&D... hence why TWD is plastered all over everything this year and SAW, Chucky, Wolfman were plastered all over everything in 2009.

The Iniquitus don't need to be featured in the advertising... they don't need to be shoved down people's throats from every angle to be classified as the main focal point of the event. Its obvious given the description initially posted and the fact that the entire park is being turned into their cemetery.

See Chris, again, it's your delivery that just throws me off the deep end. You know I love you sweetie...but you have to remember I was just stating my opinion...nothing more, nothing less. You tend to get incredibly defensive when you respond to people who don't have the EXACT same opinion as yours.

You might have thought the Usher was not lacking in any way, but I however did.

And again, every other year the so called "icon" has been predominately featured in all aspects of marketing...which is why I personally, again this is my opinion, don't view them as the icon this year. You can view them that way, and that's perfectly fine because that's your opinion and I respect it. My previous response to your original post about them was simply including MY opinion on the topic.

What you may find "obvious" about the entire park being turned into a cemetery as them being the icons, I view it simply as what it is, decor for the event. Again, simply MY take on the situation. With the entire being a cemetary, that also just makes it easier for the hordes to rotate from area to area throughout the night without breaking the concept.

I don't take your responses personally because I know you lack a filter, as do I, however, many other people might feel they are being talked down to when you respond in this fashion...they feel like dip shits because you think their opinion is "wrong" and doesn't match yours.
