It's sounding more like Dorris Day is FVJ. That long intro for the facade would only work if inside a sound stage. In BS and AVP, you always had to go in a small u-turn before going through the facade. That would give guests enough time to hear a fairly long intro. He could also be filming projection mapping on the facade for Freddy's house.

As for that revolving piece of scenery, yeah. That's totally FVJ. That would change a "winner" every time. Did anybody catch how many pages of treatment Murdy's wrote for this house? I've been terrible with the cheat sheet this year. If it's a lot, then yeah, FVJ seems likely for that code name.

As as for the two venues they lost, they're the SS 28 lot (already mentioned) and most likely Parisian. They need a place for guests to sit and eat during the Summer. Maybe they could use the WaterWorkd queue to hold a house? There's plenty of room there for one plus a queue and for guests to line up and leave the show during the day. I just find that odd how Murdy really loves the most restricted venue of the event.

I did some digging, the treatment was 90 pages. Here are some other things he said in the beginning of the year:

If the residence is what ends up being the facade, I would love to see it doused with fog, with a streetlight, a spotlight coming from the window, and a Father Merrin scareactor that greets you at the maze entrance.  That would creep me out even before going inside!

Me too!! I totally am picturing this in my head now.

Unrelated, but my theory on why the tent looks taller than in previous years is because this maze will be The Conjuring.  The IP lines up with the hints given for "Wisconsin" which we know is the maze in this location.  The reason I think the tent seems taller is because it is.  Knott's stepped up their game last year with Paranormal, Inc., which if you are not familiar featured many aerial stunts and was fricken awesome.  It was received extremely well also.  My thinking is that Uni is going to step up their effect game and the crazy ending for this maze that isn't a scene that is directly in the movie will be an aerial stunt of the ghost girl from the movie (forgot her name) flying across the finale room (akin to the beginning of Paranormal, Inc.

I loved Paranormal Inc last year. So good. I would not be opposed to seeing more of those types of stunts.

He does say this on Jan. 19th

This maze also has some original elements, a crazy idea I had that was inspired by something from the movie but not in the movie...

Unless he's going off the script, I doubt he actually saw The Conjuring 2 at that point, since they only finished filming it in December. Unless you're assuming that he's going to use both films for inspiration?

I watched a fairly bright youtube video of the El Cucuy maze from 2013 and I didn't see a noticeable wig anywhere. I wonder what it looks like? Murdy is going to be the 1 wearing the wig in a cameo (Twitter Mar. 19th), so I'm not sure that he'll be a witch, but who knows?

I just stumbled upon another tidbit of info that strengthens the Conjuring (2) case. When Entertainment Weekly released the very 1st image of the film back in December, it was none other than Madison Wolfe. Maybe Murdy say the 1st picture and used it as inspiration for his codename?

I think it just came to me! Murdy had a cameo in the movie theater scene of El Cucuy. He played "Dr. Albondigas" in the luchador horror movie that is playing on the screen. He was wearing the wig there. He tweeted out this photo, where you can sort of make out what it looks like. I can't find any other photos of him wearing it.

I actually just Google famous people born in Wisconsin clicked on a website called "40 famous people born in Wisconsin", did a imdb check of each and everyone of them has done (acting related), and I came across John Farley and the "Supercalifragipsyched" sounded similar to "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" so I researched a bit more and found Madison Wolfe (is in "the conjuring 2" ) made a connection between John Farley's birth city which is called Madison and her first name that is "madison" and since she stars in "the conjuring 2" I decided that would be my connection (of course by also finding a way to connect it with all the other hints).

    Right on. I'm with you.

So today I spent my morning diving and researching about Codename #1: "Wisconsin" and I have made a interesting connection. Here is all the hints we have been given so far.

    Hints:

    1. Codename ties in the state "Wisconsin" and is about with everything that someone is from.

    2. The maze is one of the most fan requested mazes by the fans.

    3. Based on a film that has never been done at Hollywood.

    4. The maze has original elements that are taken from an idea from the film

    5. Wig from "El Cucuy" maze will make a comeback

    6. Treatment is 92 pages long.

    7. Maze is located in the JP (Jurassic Park) Queue.

    8. The ending of the maze is a original twist.

    Now these are tweet hints.

    9. "Now... here's a hint to maze #1 code named "Wisconsin" You're looking for a specific city in Wisconsin... that is all"

    10. "No but I've probably been to Manitowoc at least a dozen times in my life... Hmmm".

    11. "Been a weird stretch of writing. Researching 1970's decor and creepy kid songs. Have to jam on writing today to bring it all together".

    12. "I'm "Supercalifragipsyched" for this maze".

I think you've pretty much got it with The Conjuring. Just curious, how did you land on Farley? That SNL skit is quite the deep cut, but it lines up to what he tweeted. The Manitowac crane stuff might be stretching a bit. I can't quite figure out where Manitowac would fit, but honestly it could be a red herring.

Obviously, the 1970's decor fits with the time period of the movie and the children's songs tie in as well. I can't remember any specific wig from El Cucuy, but a wig would be fitting for a witch..

a good chunk of info from Murdy that eliminates a few and adds a few tibia into spec....

As well as point out to the younger crowds a lot of what he has done already and thankfully pointed out he is fully aware that we don't like repeats, he stated that there will be no repeats this year...

    so that eliminates

    Alien vs Predator

    Inisdious

    Halloween

    ect....

    image.jpeg

Also no 3D someone asked about it and he replied it might surprise us so since there has been a 3D maze about every year guess we finally have a break from such also sorry to say this has to be the final nail in the coffin for Freaks Killer Klowns theory

    image.jpeg

So I'm gonna just be optimistic on Krampus just cuz of this... Also this proves that Murdy is just waiting for TrT 2 to come out. Also makes it wierd that he'd point out how close he is with Dougherty but won't do Krampus

    Yooo this sounds promising!

The flashing imagery is probably not the only element that will be utilized. They'll probably do something similar to what Orlando described as well.

Totally. I am behind all of those ideas that Mike shared.

Well, it would've been nice to know where this was located. Here's what we got:

    1) As was previously mentioned, the "in-between" scenes for the bedroom will take inspiration from the banned trailer.

    2) This will be very blackout heavy.

    3) Will be very theatrical. Several scenes will not have traditional "jump-out" scares.

From what Murdy is saying, this is going to be hit-or-miss execution. I'm looking forward to seeing how those effects are going to be pulled off as several of them can't be pulled off by a scare actor. Yeah, I know, this sounds eerily familiar to Evil Dead, but I'm confident Murdy will deliver.

Those transitions better be good and not just some black walls. I really hope they're creative.

Taking that "flash" effect from the trailer and using it for transition scenes could be cool - especially with that score. I'm not sure how feasible it is, but I'm sure projection mapping could even be utilized.

  10. Murdy just a quick Q&A on Twitter and was asked how he could translate the

movie into a maze being that it's primarily based all in one room. He said that the banned trailer was a big inspiration for what he can do in between scenes. I think this is the trailer he is talking about.

    (Warning: Video contains excessive flashing!)

Murray answered a few questions regarding the maze. Seems as though this may be similar to Evil Dead in that its FX heavy as murdy has described it in one of the tweets. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but there were a few members here who weren't really fond of the effects used in that house.

Also he addressed the one room thing

When i asked for the password prize thing he put it in front of his crotch and went "take it!." Its was pretty funny.

Looks like we had the same idea!

What a kick-off to the announcement season!  Iconic property and one of the top horror films of all time.  During Sunday's Monsterpalooza panel, there was extra seat in between John Murdy and Chris Williams as if they were planning on having a special guest.  And who was down the hall?  Linda Blair!  Would have been a spectacular way to announce the property.

I was at that panel and thought the same thing!!

I'm pretty sure it's krampus, get the thread ready, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was FvJ. The Orlando feed has said shit so far and I would be shocked if Orlando doesn't get krampus

Also, Murdy said that this is he favorite line-up ever, I think that exorcist rumor has so weight to it if I say so myself

I sure hope so. I'm dying to see John's take on The Exorcist.

  13. does anyone know wher Scare Patrol have been primarily from early opening to like around 9? I wanna do early entry but want to get my hands on the Franco invite... it makes planning difficult that the password is not at a single maze this year so would appreciate the help guys.

I caught them going towards This is the End from the Metro Sets. I managed to grab the last invite that group had. It was probably around 7:30.
