  1.

I don't recall any snake related scares. This isn't a phobia triggering year in the lines of snakes, spiders, yadayada, except clowns. If you're afraid of clowns, this year is not the year for you.

well depending on your outlook, it could be the perfect year for you. If you're in it for the scares that is.

  2. As for the first question, I am from Boston but I live in Orlando. My roommate is a third party team member and she gave me her pass. As for the second, I don't know how it worked in the past but we booked it over and they let us in, no questions asked

see you moved down, all I wanted to know, as simple as that.

Well in my experience I had the opportunity to get into Monsters and Mayhems line at about 12:56 we were passing it on the way out from Bill & Teds last show but I was tired and didn't want to wait an extra 45 minutes to go home. As for the rest? Uh? That's just a little nosy unless you know that member well. Meh.

Nosy! I'm not asking for his social security, just wanted to know about his trip because I like hearing the stories of people flying down for the event. So I asked if he had moved down or something, and it turns out he has. Uh? Meh.

  3. You can walk into a line up until the minute the park closes and they'll let you through the line. Even if it's at a 45 minute wait. They do not close the lines earlier than the park unless an extreme circumstance occurs and they make that judgement call on the spot. All they have to do is know someone to get an EP ticket.

Not in my experience. The past 2 years they have closed the lines on me somewhere between 15-30 mins before close. That's why I said that.

I also know how to get in to EP night, I asked how he did if he was in Boston? As in,  when he flew down and what his connection was.

  4. If you're a horror fan in Boston, how did you get into the Employee  Preview night? Did you move down  or something?

Did you happen to get any pictures while you were there? (From any date that is, I ask because you went EP and Openin night, so if they had any differences.)

Also, how did you walk into the line 5 mins before close? Line close did you mean?

Sorry if im coming off picky...

  5. So Jacks face being on a billboard (and in commercials) He has little vector art shapes of his face on HHN's site and his face is on the passholder booklet and likely the maps too. He has his own show AND house doesn't count as a traditional icon year? He does have his backstory but they haven't really gone into detail (yet) about what the new continued part of the story might be. But maybe by time the gates open it could all very well be explained then; his story.

I have a feeling people are wanting the whole event laid out to them start to finish through advertising etc. rather than actually going to the event and experiencing it unfold.

Expecting to know everything about the event before it starts is like looking at the back of a novel and reading the spoilers and calling it a day.

that theres was meant to be Others, sorry.

Not my words just more of what I gathered from other people saying.

  6. What do you mean you don't get the vibe that this is not a real icon year?

Jack has his own show plus there is a scarezone dedicated to the icons..... What else do you need to make it a real icon year?

I guess technically any year that has an icon is an "Icon Year" per say.

However they are not all an "Icon's Year" (take note of the possession.

The traditional icon year was the back story around them, plus their own house and advertisement. Based upon what there have said.

This year is not an Icon's Year. It is an ANNIVERSARY year. With icons featured.

    If that makes sense

  7. You said their marketing was better. This year they are marketing a story to go along with the event. They said the story didn't make much sense. I fail to see why you don't see the connection there.

it's not that I don't see the connection, I said its irrelevant. I wasn't talking the in depths, just that HOS has more, and I wished to see more from HHN. And not twenty four hours later, we got the commercial. (Whether it was officially at that time or not).

  8. I'm super cautious about this house.

Alice is PERFECT for a haunted house, and lends itself very easily to chromadepth 3D. However, out of FIVE 3D houses that I've been through (Jack's Funhouse 07, In Between 11, P&T 12, Circus of Superstition Howl O Scream 12, Afterlife 13), only ONE has been great (P&T and Circus were fun tho), and that was In-Between. Afterlife is bottom 5 of all time for me, Jack's wasn't memorable, but In-Between is the only house to actually use 3D in a creative sense, and actually add to the experience. IT was just a gimmick in all the others.

My fear is that this house falls trap to that same problem, and the fact that it changed locations makes me even more uneasy. I'm hoping for the best, and I'm still very excited for this one.

Having been in P&T, Circus and the Afterlife as well, i have to agree with you. Because I didn't do the in-between, I couldn't say that is my #1. I can say that Circus has been pulled off quite nicely for multiple years, and I expect Asylum to be in that ballpark. Not amazing, but good.

  9. You people my god.

    Calm down.

Who gives a crap if they're posting crappy tweets I'm sure there is an underlying message we must be missing. We don't even know what the Maniacs are yet and we should learn more soon. Also believe the whole allegiance thing may lead to another contest for tickets.

  10. And that sort of attitude is why HHN has gotten a bit stale. A lot of the "innovative" stuff Universal has introduced over the last three-four years have been used in haunts around the nation for ten-fifteen years. What HHN presents, while of a ridiculously high aesthetic quality, is way behind the curve in regards to scares, techniques and themes.

Yes, the amount of people who go through a house nightly is incomparable. That does affect the ability to do some things. But to outright dismiss what everyone else is doing because they're not in Orlando (especially with the complaints we're seeing) is short-sighted. HHN may be the most attended, it may be the best theme park Halloween event, but it's not the best place for haunts.

well at the same time, are you gonna fly to Virginia to experience howloscream? No, probably not, because it's irrelevant when we have HHN and our own Howloscream in Tampa.  So yeah, you are right. But it's one thing to dismiss an event that's usually not special, like HOS, then to dismiss a late upheld haunt. Like the SS queen Mary or something to that extent that is acclaimed over.

In my book HOS hasn't been special since 2010. Because that year they really took off with a whole theme and all new houses. Which we have never had since.

So I guess at this point it is safe to say that I am not impressed with the theme park haunt this year; but it's what should be expected nowadays. That's why my attitude is the way it is.

  11. I've gone so many years that I hate to see the event reuse houses like Howl O Scream does.

As someone who also goes to Howl O Scream frequently, Alice 3D does sound like an idea from them. I thought A&D would be more creative with picking am original for the anniversary. It screams safe, especially with 3D.

Well, Howloscream and HHN are completely different animals. I've attended both multiple years and they really don't compare in so many aspects. When Howloscream makes a house, they milk it. For about 3-6 years in a row that house will appear. With maybe 2 (1 this year) new house. Along with a basic theme and maybe some hint at one of their "icons" (raven twins, Sylvia.. Etc.).

Well, I'm sure Alice isn't their priority. They found their key original (BC, PS) and the rest who knows.

  12. You want crowds?

I know THEY want it. But you are saying it like that is a positive thing.

    Haha oops...

I mean I don't want them, but they are inevitable at this point. But I guess it can be a positive in the sense that it helps grow the event and gives us more Houses, shows and zones.
