  1. They did UTH for Dead Silence, NOES, Wolfman... IPs are not an issue. They usually don't add the UTH info until the full site reveal or a week or so before it.

It is certain days, twice a day.

When I did the UTH in 09, we toured Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein. The only restrictions were no photographs or video was allowed inside of Wolfman.

As a side note, our tour started with this question:

If you are not apart of the Vault please raise your hand.

I think like 3 people raised their hands out of about 30.

  2. Right. And if this was in July or August, I'd completely agree. But as I wrote above (and I plead some amount of ignorance here, so please correct me if I'm wrong), October is not one of their heavy traffic months. Hence, HHN is there to help pull in people in the down months. Given that, do the costs of the parade (employees, upkeep, etc) justify the return for the amount of people they have visiting the park? If not, then is it so hard to believe that they'd scrap the parade for that month in favor of the event that is a well known draw, particularly with all the money they're very clearly throwing into it this year?

And as for the lagoon show, I don't think we've heard one way or another on if there will be a HHN themed show, correct? I could see them putting one together at least featuring the IP's and a hypothetical icon, if nothing else. That would enable them to keep using that investment and tie up people, something they must be looking at doing this year, being down a house.

October is a slow month, but HHN draws people from out of state and from out of the country. I wouldn't be surprise if the higher ups are banking on the new parade to bring people into the park during the day as well.

    Simple:

"Hey look over here! We have this shiny new thing. Don't you want to come see it as well? Don't just hang out in Potter or go to Disney before HHN. Spend your money on a two park pass and you can see our shiny new thing."

  3. You know, I couldn't place where I had read something that was very similiar to the Nightingales concept...and THAT is it, "Little Sisters of Eluria"...thank you for jolting my brain into remembering that. I'm going to go pull my copy of "Everything's Eventual" this weekend and re-read that one.

    Your welcome!

I have a memory like a sponge when it comes to Mr. King's works. Of course that short story stood out since it was a Dark Tower story.

I actually drive my husband crazy because I'll read a new King novel (not that many of them are new to me anymore), and I will read a name that I've read before. This causes a search through my King library until I can find which book the name was first mentioned in.

  4. I hate to be a pain, but I am going to voice the opinion that Nightingales may not have been completely original.

Can't prove it, but look up Little Sisters of Eluria. It's a short story by Stephen King. There ate similarities to the Noghtingales and it was the first thing I thought of when Nightingales was announced.

  5. is their any other rumors for what else this house could be, i understand its a 75% sure its going to be a DE calsic monster house but everyone is saying no one knows for sure....any other rumors floating around on what it could be

To my knowledge, another rumor hasn't surfaced.

We had heard that it may not have been approved or it could have been scraped. With the musical house locations this year, it's amazing that we've been able to keep any of the rumors and house locations straight.

  6. The monsters featured would probally be Frankenstien, the wolfman, Dracula, creature from the black lagoon, the mummy, phantom of the opera and maybe the hunchback. It's possible we could see Chucky, Norman Bates, the thing, the invisible man, maybe even Shaun of the dead again. I feel like its very possible we could see this house if the "dead exposure" house doesn't happen.

The "dead exposure" aka photograph is the rumored classic monster house. They are the same house idea. We just don't know if it was approved.

Could they do a 100 yrs of horror without doing the DE treatment? Yes, but the rumor was it would be given a DE treatment. . And considering this house began construction, most likely at the beginning of this month, the DE treatment would be the easiest approach.

  7. the only thing I'm a little worried is that for costumes they might just have dirty clothes and a bunch of blood on their faces, Which Yes that's exactly what zombies are, but, I wish they had weird messed up faces, maybe make up making it look like their noses are missing, or the skull showing, I kinda hope the zombies look like some of the actors from Seven last year, like the snake guys,

i really hope they don't just do a little make up, blood dirty clothes and that's it, that would be disappointing I think

The TWD press release or the huffpo article mentioned access to the prosthetic molds used in the show.

I'm hoping they would not limit the use of these molds to only the house. If we are getting roaming TWD hordes, then I would expect to see these molds used in the streets as well.

  8. I think maybe you didn't read my post correct;ly...its was speculation, and if you recall i stated maybe a house like MyX at HOS but with zombies or w/e...A sequel doesn't have to follow the EXACT SAME STORY, they could change it for HHN 22...I don't think you give A&D enough credit. Just because its a sequel to DE doesn't make it necessarily the same story...Know what I mean...I don't want to piss ne one off but Thats my opinion...just a thought, I don't work at USO...lol...obviously...but That's just my idea. It would work with AC being right there....not trying rock the boat...*napoleon dynamite voice*...GEEZ. Carry on.

I'm not really sure where you're going with the MyX thing. If it's rock music then AC fills that genre.

You just reiterated what Weskers was saying about the "photograph" house. Kind of.

While it would be a "sequel" do to the style of house, the story would in no way connected to the previous house.

But, I will give the clue that everyone else has to the story/theme of this house. If it happens.

    This house will be "classic".

  9. I noticed that there could easily be an amusing coincidence between both 3D houses for Orlando & Hollywood...

Hollywood is going to Hell in 3D and will feature the 7 deadly sins (complete with a cotton candy scent)

Orlando is going to Vegas in 3D.... could we also be seeing the 7 deadly sins represented in the house? It'd make a nice in-direct follow-up to last years scarezone "7". I personally expect a "scent" of some kind in their buffet scene.

in regards to the sins- showgirls (lust), slot machines (greed), all-you-can-eat buffet (gluttony)

I could see an indirect follow up to 7. The question is how much of this house is P&T and how much of it is A&D.

Although, I would be disappointed if there was no mention of sin in a house from Sin City.

  10. you know the word apocalypse is misused. It does not mean "end of the world disaster", it is Greek for "that which is uncovered" or if you like "revealed".

I have always found the misuse of that word fascinating.

People have revelations all the time. Saying I have had a revelation would mean I have had a new idea, finalley understand an idea/concept, or that an idea or concept was revealed to me.

But if I said I have seen the coming of revelations, people would assume I have seen the coming of the end days.

  11. Too bad so sad! No body cares if HOS had a Zombie theme last year...You all seriously didn't think TWD would be the theme? The website background screams it!! And all those leaked event descriptions of flesh rotting zombies and trying to escape infection!...

Honestly I think this is a really cool theme for the event!(: and at least we are getting a theme...

Actually people do care. Have you not seen the large amount of complaints and comparisons to HOS this year?

There are people one the HHN FB page saying HOS is far more original this year. That Uni is dropping the ball. That the website sucks. That they don't even think they will go this year, and will go to HOS instead.

These are not the hardcore fan base, forum going people. This is the GP saying these things. The GP are far more important than we are.

We, as true fans who are willing to help the event, should inform Uni of the misconceptions, complaints, and thoughts of the GP.

Otherwise they will not know. Fans usually are willing to do surveys, give positive as well as negative responses. Explain in constructive ways where things need to be tweaked, because we love the event. The GP usually can't be bothered with these surveys. It takes away from their oh so precious time.

And how are the GP or anyone suppose to know the theme when it's not ON the website.

Just check out the FB page, every other post is:

    What's the theme this year?

When are you going to release the theme?

I want to know the theme NOW!

People say it's SH. People say it's TWD. People say it's AC. And now people say it's P&T.

  12. Thank you, thank you so much. We are all here to have fun not to fight over technical details.

However, I am actually a Norse God of Halloween Horror Nights. But you don't have to worship me unless you want to.

I claimed HHN goddess on the Vault. :P

Any possible clues coming our way soon, good doctor?

I want to know if I should begin mourning the "photograph" house.

  13. Hunchback does not need to be Disney linked. The absolutely horrific adaption Disney did is in no way comparable to the source material.

Am I the only person who saw the news articles stating that more of the Mayan calendar was found, and that these calendars extend well past 12/21/12?

A Mayan theme would be so disappointing.

  14. This guy might have a point. I mean we've been wrong about all the other houses so far...........

How have we been wrong about the previous houses? So far the houses have been just as we have said.

He was making a joke to get a rise out of all of you. Next thing you know, someone is going to claim that Lady Luck will be back due to the Vegas sign.

Sprung Tent 2 is "Penn & Teller"..  can we get back to actual speculation now?

We need a sarcasm font.  You both missed it.

  15. Oh come on lol. You're seriously saying that because Universal have used the same actor in the past for characters that the rule is set in stone? Really? If the same actor is available it makes sense to use him but I think you are maybe underestimating the abilities of the casting department to overcome that problem. I will again remind you of the very successful James Bond character, the actor not always as important as the character they portray.

Bond is not a good example. Neither would Sherlock Holmes be a good example or any other popular character.

HHN Icons are very niche characters. The people who know them and love them are a very small community. If the actor is different it is glaringly obvious to most of us. And with niche characters the actor makes the character.

    H. R. Is even more of a niche character. He's character was/is a play on the old creature feature style shows.

Those of us who grew up with a creature feature host know you can't just replace the actor. The actor is the character. Subtle nuisance in inflection, body movement and timing create the character you know and love.

So I would have to disagree with any actor being able to play H. R.

  16. Did the 06 Hollywood zone have props?

I don't remember. I was only able to go one night that year.

If I remember correctly it was really just a photo op for past characters, and it had several stilt characters. Could we see something like that again?

We know the GP loves their photo ops, and if we have SH characters in the streets, they are going to want pictures.

  17. I never recall that hhn announcing scarezones before the big reveal because their isn't any IP they put on the streets that is used for promotion so I believe if we're going to continue to releasing houses i believe we will do the last unconfirmed iP house left, Penn & Teller i just hope to god they have good effects but this is our hhn we're talking about so let's wait and see.

Also quick question did we get a permit for the other SS (believe its 33) or is still unconfirmed because i did hear that SS 44 was a mix up and it was 33?

There is a new permit, but it still says Herc/Xena which was SS 44. Looking at the fees for this permit (which are different than the usual fees), I believe it is an "addendum" to the previous permit so it is still tilted the same. This means we have no location confirmation from this new permit, but we know there will be a 7th house.

I apologize for the double post, but the forums will not allow me to edit my own post.

To our knowledge, B79 (parade bldg) is the 7th location.

  18. Right, except we also haven't seen the level of cross-involvement that we seem to be experiencing this year, nor have we seen (and please correct me if I'm wrong) both parks full under the creative involvement of a larger management team to the extent they are this year. From a business perspective, it makes complete sense to share blueprints between parks if the dimensions are going to be the same, as it means you're not paying employees twice for a house based on the same IP.

Blueprints must be drafted by an architect or engineer. Uni may have one, but they also may not. Building codes can vary from state to state, from county to county, even from city to city. This could make it difficult to use one blueprint for both coasts.

Building specs (specifications for the building or area housing the maze) would also have to be accounted for.

Not saying its impossible to share the blueprints, but it would be difficult.

Layout could be the same or similar, but most likely each coast would need their own blueprints.

  19. I don't know what is universals idea of the end of the week.... Must be tomorrow...

11:59pm is the end of the week. Whether that's 11:59 pm Saturday or Sunday depends on how you calculate your week. Some people count Sunday as the first day of a week, some people count Monday as the first day of the week.

I'm a Sunday person, so my week ends tonight at 11:59pm. That means I should get an update by then. At least that's my opinion on the matter.

Unfortunately, Universal will probably updates us based on their own theory of when a week ends.

  20. The clues have been floating around. Several people have given the same clue.

    All I'll say is this:

Many people thought this house theme would be a perfect fit for Universal this year. It would tie in to more than just HHN.

I was also looking forward to seeing this theme done in a DE style. I had discussed with one person a perfect scene. A scene that would have been comparable to the "crowded room" in the original DE.

I will actually lament not being able to see this theme done, if the house is scrapped. It would have been a great twist on a classic theme.

  21. I agree, but wish to add on to that. I could not see Uni having both a DE style house and a TWD house. I feel like they would conflict too much. Even if DE was not a zombie based house, because DE style depends on black everything and strobes, it seems like too safe of an option for a year when we will be having less houses and a somewhat commercialized event, thanks to SH and TWD. I feel like it would be the forgotten house, like "The Hallow" (another great house) was for HHN 18. Without BM's backstory to DE that year, it would have been too generic. Don't get me wrong, it was one of my favorite houses, but I think for this event, it just doesn't fit.

The theme that was rumored to take the place of the zombie theme would have fit, I think. I'm not sure how many people figured out what that theme was so I will not spoil it.

  22. I had heard it was scrapped.

The key thing about that concept though is that it's a cheap one. Flat black walls with some set-pieces and strobes. They have the costumes. It's honestly the type of house someone could build in their garage. If any house could be built in a month, it's that one.

The only thing I've worried about with a DE style house being built is the level of detail. DE may have been simplistic, but the set was hand painted. It was hand painted in a blacklight. That may prove to be difficult to accomplish in only one month.

  23. about Nightmaze I meant the costumes, that zone left a lot to be desired, I know it wasn't roaming but I meant I hope the actors look really great in the zones.

I forgot about Path of the Wicked,

One of the best costumes, and scares, I have ever seen was in 2003 near Pizza Predatoria.

Stilt character, costume a vine. Without any props, except the existing columns at the restaurant, I sat and watched this scareactor consistently get people for over an hour. He/she, couldn't tell the gender, would "wrap" hisself or herself around the column. When stationary he/she looked like a climbing vine decoration. It was awesome.

If anything, the quality of the costumes have been getting better since then. Excluding Nightmaze.

So I think we will see great costumes on the roaming hoards.

  24. It has been mentioned that the City of Orlando is posting permits about 20 days or so after they are pulled.

If this is the case then we can do a little speculative math.

A&D are told on June 14th that SS44 is coming down. (speculation due to people seeing F. A. K. E onsite around that time)

Give them a week to find a new location, make the necessary house changes, and get approval. So let's say June 22nd they pull a permit.

We could see a permit this week, if that is the case. 8 days from June to July. 12 days in July. 20 days total. Of course that's including a holiday and weekends. Not sure if the person who mentioned 20 days meant business days or not.
