  1. Noticed this picture on the facade on this ( http://careyparanormalresearch.tumblr.com/ ) website:

    tumblr_m9ompzobR31rw4l6x.jpg

I comes with a paragraph explaining Hartford Mansion (Dead End):

    Plans are in the Works

The Paranormal Research Society of Carey, Ohio may have its first live investigation in just a short month. We are making plans to do a ghost hunt and investigation in the Hartford Mansion, which lies on the outskirts of town. The Hartford Mansion is as old as it is mysterious; a few Society members have begun research into its dark past, while we make sure it is within our financial budget to carry out the investigation. Updates to come.

What happened at at the Hartford Mansion? We won’t rest until we figure it out.

Doesn't really seem that Victorian, at all. But I love it, nonetheless!

Um.....Did you read that whole page?

You may have just stumbled upon our games.

Unless it is ran by a very dedicated HHN fan, it mentions almost every Carey, Ohio link to the event.

EDIT: I look into it more, and I'm thinking it is just a group of dedicated HHN fans running it. If that is the case, the description of the Hartford Mansion isn't from Uni.

  2. if its anything like the last few years, it should be SH and HoH at 5:45, AC and Gothic at 6, Dead End at 6:15(maybe 6:30. not 100% on that) and P&T/TWD at 6:30. It's the way it's been since 08, so that's my guess.

Hmmm, I'm trying to remember how early the houses opened for the Passholder party last year.

I don't think we had to wait till 5:45 for The Forsaken and I think the In-Between opened like 15 minutes after that.

I've gone to many years, times have started to blend together.

I need to come up with a game plan for this year, and with Jaws being gone, I'm just not sure which way to go.

  3. Thanks for the video Jeramy! Always cool to see inside the houses I missed. And this talk of the crowded room is all WAY to cryptic for me. :) Someone want to spill the beans? Were there just a lot of zombies in it? Something else?

20 mannequins dressed like zombies, 2 or 3 live scareactors, me a cowering ball of OMFG!! this is not cool.

The room made me whimper like a small child.

I literally finished that house in a dead run to get out. I also pushed my sister toward the zombies.

  4. From the general description with ALL the legions in one sentence, it made it seem like there were going to be "old" and "new" vampires... perhaps this is "sexy" and "bloody" as well? They have a lot of modern vampires to draw on, and I think it would be a shame to miss the gender-swapped factor (paired with the gender swapped chainsaws) to make this sort of similar to The (male) Coven of sorts, which I think could be quite clever. Trick them in with the Edwards and then slam them with serious gothic monsters... or things in between.

There better not be any Edwards. I would mock the Edward scareactors mercilessly. And it would border on torment and torture.

Anyways, Edward isn't a real vampire. He belongs nowhere near HHN.

  5. So, on another topic...

It looks like the Passholder "party" is going to be in Kid Zone, as usual. I'm really torn, since I really want to hang at Finnegan's before the big event. Still, it does give access at 5:00, as opposed to I think 5:30-5:45 for the normal Stay and Scream. I've historically done Stay and Scream at Kids Zone, but this just feels like a Finnegan's kind of year to me. Any thoughts from anyone else who is considering the same thing?

Also, fwiw, I have RSVP'd to all four nights, with a plus one. If anyone needs to be a +1, gimme a holler. I share :)

    I'm torn too.

I love Finnegans, but the Passholder party is going to be a great for me on the 21st. I think it's the only way I will be able to get into the event early due to timing issues.

I think I may skip it on the 22nd. That way I get my Finnegans fix on opening weekend.

Also, with house locations this year, I don't know if our usual game plan will work. So, I think it will be cool to try something new one night.

Btw, has anyone heard call times? Do we know which houses will open when?

  6. You just proved my point. One IP house spread out through the years with the exception of a few years. Hollywood has at least 2 to 3 every year for marketing purposes. UO has only about one a year spread out since the beginning. It's ok to have an IP house, but when they outnumber "original" houses it gets a bit annoying to me. I could care less about popularity with brands. And inspired by is ok because in film school we learn that almost anything anymore is either inspired by or a parody off of something else. It's nearly impossible to create an original idea these days without accidently basing it off of another idea. Its how the production world works. I'm not trying to argue here, I just want to avoid UO becoming Hollywood or sharing the same houses. That's why I'm glad they saved two original houses this year and I'm excited for GOTHIC and DEAD END. To be clear, I am not bashing this years event and I am going in with an open mind. I was just asking a simple question to Patrick as to why the huge and drastic change to the format. I expect to be blown away like every year. I just preferred the past years over this one, thats all.

You do realize that the event hasn't always been 7/8 houses, right?

    91 had 1 house.

    98 had 5 if I remember correctly.

    I think 01 only had 5.

Chris probably has the house count somewhere.

  7. Very good point, but I like to give people the benefit of a doubt. :) As long as we're speculating, anyone want to guess what the other two houses will be called before the reveal tonight?

I've had this conversation one too many times to have faith in people.

"I need to cash my check."

"I can help you with that. Can I see your ID?"

"I don't know you, why should I show you my ID?!!!!" (exclaimation points to illustrate the indignation that I would have the audacity to ask for ID.)

As for the other two houses.

    I'm going with:

    Haunted Mansion

    And

Classic Monsters done in black light strobe effect

  8. Well, to be fair, "Depending on cultural influences and exposure it could mean a vast amount of things" could also apply to pretty much all your examples above. And Gothic, I would argue, is best known for the architecture style amongst the GP, which appears to be exactly what they're referring to. So I'd say it's a very accurate and descriptive title.

We're all assuming though that there won't be a subtitle here. For all we know, the full title will be Gothic: Night of the Attacking Gargoyles. And if the house turns out to be full of possessed teddy bears, then I will completely agree with you that it is an awful, awful title.

You have way too much faith in the general population. I've dealt with enough of them over the years to know that even the kids who call themselves "gothic" don't know what they're talking about.

Use terms like gothic or baroque architecture or style in a conversation, and the response I usually receive is either a blank stare or oh like those kids who dress all in black.

  9. So you're telling me that if they called it The Gothic you'd feel better? If you don't count The (which really tells you nothing about the house) then just from the last couple years you have The Forsaken, The Thing, Zombiegeddon, Saw, The Spawning, The Wolfman, Creatures, Doomsday, The Hallow, etc... I guess I'm not seeing your gripe here. Creatures doesn't tell me what the house is either, as pretty much every house has a creature of some sort. And Spawning? What's spawning? Same with Hallow (although for me it still does give some imagery), having never stepped in the house. Gothic is actually much more descriptive than those.

    .

I have to point out a small flaw in your examples:

1 The Thing, Saw, Doomsday and The Wolfman are movies. Their names are very distinct and descriptive.

2 Creatures! is also descriptive. You will be encountering creatures in the house.

3 Zombiegeddon is a combination of zombie and Armageddon. Once again pretty descriptive in what to expect from the house.

4 The Spawning implies that something is spawning. There is some form of creature breeding, this creature is most likely fish/amphibian/reptile like.

5 The Hallow gives the impression of Halloween. A hallow is a sacred artifact.

6 The Forsaken is also descriptive. You know you will be encountering a group that has been abandoned (usually by God) and are helpless, soulless, and lost.

Gothic is very nondescript. Depending on cultural influences and exposure it could mean a vast amount of things including a bunch of kids dressed all in black hanging out at the mall.

I hope there is more to the name. If not, it will be ok, but the name will be lackluster.

EDIT: In the initial tweet, it is GOTHIC, not Gothic. We hhners love our abrieviations. Could GOTHIC be an abrieviation?

Gargoyles Of The H I Catherdal.

I have no idea what the H and I could stand for.

  10. If they did that, that would be AWESOME! Not sure they all match up though...

We would first have to determine who the classics were.

Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, The Mummy, Phantom, Hunchback, Dr. Jekyll, The Bride, The Creature?

Which ones would be showcased? Would we get 6 or 8 Classics?

And I'm going to end up really wanting this if I keep speculating about it.

  11. The voice could also be the voice of Darkness.

I do feel that the Classics are very plausible. It would be very interesting if they are incorporated. I could see the "tribe" aspect that has been mentioned working well if each Classic had their own scarezone of minions.

  12. If I remember correctly, 08 LT site went live only a week or less before the full reveal. The actual investigations for LT in 08 didn't start until a week or two after the event started.

So I would say we are getting something closer to 08's LT ARG. 2010 was a disappointment because the investigation stopped after the full reveal.

  13. I have some good news for my fellow fans, but disappointing news for myself.

I won one of the 11 exclusive tours, but I was unfortunately unable to accept it. I could not find someone to watch my children during the tour.

So if you didn't receive an email saying you won, there is still the opportunity to win.

I just sent the email turning down the prize.

I was unsure where to post this. If there is another area it should be, please feel free to move it.

  14. Gargoyle pic is up on the google doc.

I'm going to guess the other facade is our Victorian House.

    As for the DE/Monster house.

With a typical amount of 10 scenes per house, I suppose Dead Silence could make an appearance in the house.

Or it's possible the clues are a kind of red herring.

I remember those photo's from 07, I think they would work great in a DE style house and the continued use of Dead Silence photos continues that rumor.

  15. REALLY HEATHER!? REALLY!?... did we forget who started the Horror trend for UNI & saved their asses??? The one classic monster that pre-dates Dracula! :chainsaw:

I did not forget him. I also hope he makes an appearance in the classic house.

We are speaking about clues for the masses though. I would love Erik to be the Icon, but alas the GP just wouldn't get it or him.

    He would actually fit too.

    Buried Artifact

    His use of magic

His ability to manipulate and control others

Unfortunately, I can hear the reaction in my head now.

"A character from a musical? LAME"

"What is he going to scare us with, horrible singing?"

Few know his true origins, and even fewer are willing to learn them.

  16. Interesting trivia: Did you know that Ridley Scott directed Legend? Yes, the same Ridley Scott who gave us Alien and Prometheus.

As for anything being done in the SS44 area:

1 It's an active construction site that holds tons of legal liabilities.

2 The higher ups are not going to postpone construction for a green lit project for HHN fans.

3 I think A&D is working with what they have. I do not see them pulling a permit for a house just to prank HHN fans. They are using all the difficulties from this year to their advantage. A sign of true creative genius. When the world gives you lemons make lemonade.

4 If we are getting clues for an Icon and backstory, I wonder how much A&D had to push for it? How much of it is due to the negative push back from fans? Was it always in the works?

5 I can't wait to see the event, because if the use of the SS 44 debacle is as last minute as it seems, then I think it will display the true level of talent behind A&D.

  17. I'm sure that this is probably far off but the first thing I thought of when I heard "It's time he comes home" was Darkness. To me the biggest line in the arrival show from 16 was when he said Horror Comes Home. He has never been an icon so it doesn't break that rule. He is not from our world and he would make a good leader of all the "hoardes"

    I've thought of him too.

As I said, the way the clue reads makes it seem like we should now who He is.

    Darkness would be awesome.

Any other characters who could "come home".

And do we know if we have all the clues?

  18. "it's not of this world..." and "it's time He comes home"

    E. T. Is totally our Icon!!!!

    Someone had to do it.

True spec: Not of this world makes me think of Terra Cruentas, or Mary's Mirror world.

Then with the capitalization of He, I feel we should know who He is.

And now I'll I can think is it better not be that damn clown.

  19. Sorry to be blunt, and no rudeness meant, but I think you've kind of missed the point here. Has there been anything new up til now? Nope. I'm 100% sure that it's someone from this board working with largely the same info as us, and I've been working more on the mystery of who it could be than what they're doing. But has it been a fun way to kill some time until the reveal next week? Absolutely.

And speculation is just that. To speculate on what we might see based on the little info we have. Not to figure out the event ahead of time. Who cares if we're right or not? I don't. I'm still going, and I'm still going to have fun. Right or wrong, everything's going to be revealed next week anyway. Just enjoy the ride.

I considered that. If it is, he's added a new layer to his trickery, since he's also been leaving big clues in other places lately, and was doing his videos before. It doesn't seem to fit his MO, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

I think the point Chris is trying to get across is that it would be nice to know if we are only passing time.

Reviewing posts, you can see the hope for an icon, a backstory, the comeback of LT, an overall theme.

If passing time is the point, speculating on little details, then just let us know.

  20. I hope that all of you have come to the realization by now that these "clues" aren't coming from UNI... and are just looking at this as something to "pass the time". The wording & the entire process pretty much gives it away. They're toying with you're gullibility and know you'll over-think every "clue" sent your way. So just keep that in mind.

But isn't that the entire point of this thread? To let people overthink, overanalyze and speculate about every possible clue provided to them, regardless if it's from Universal or not? And if everyone being guillable is an issue with these hints, then who is to say everyone isn't guilty of the same for every single supposidly "legit" clue that has been posted here previously.

Seriously sweetie, you need to lighten up some...it's a Halloween event, enjoy it for what it is.

Until I see more from ifrit, I will see this has just away to past the time.

What bothers me, is if this is not an inside source, and we are just going to receive information about details (like how many nurses will be in the SH house), why not just say it? It gets everyone's hopes up that there may be more to the event. That we may get the interactivity that we have been craving.

I agree that speculating, over thinking, over analyzing can be fun. I love it, but it would be nice to know what the payoff is.

And if the payoff is just little tidbits, fine just be honest about it. We can still play.

As for the clue, I'm going two combine specs.

Does anyone remember Mr. Hawthorne's full name?  R. O. H. could be for Mr. Hawthorne's full name.

  21. Random spec on the Doctor's clues regarding digging.

There was spec awhile back that our Victorian House would be loosely based off of Poltergeist.

Graves, digging = Burial Ground like what happened with the houses in poltergeist.

Or we are going to visit the Hawthorne manor instead of just the cemetery this year.

  22. Also HOR... Egyptian king of sorts

OHR is a kabbalistic term in Jewish mystical tradition. From wiki as well.

Or it could be The Greek letter Rho which has several uses, and in Greek numerals represents 100.

With the combination of easy as 1, 2, 3 in the clue, I'm more inclined to lean toward my original guess. Abc is as easy as 123. Meaning our missing letters should be placed in their alphabetical order. So instead of Abc being 123, HOR is 123.

The use of scrabble tiles suggests to me that the numerical equivalent of the letters gives the hint toward the number of each letter needed.

So 1 H, 2 Os, and 3 Rs. This is where my dylexia comes in handy again to create the word HORROR.

That's how my mind sees this particular puzzle.
