  1. Nothing feels better than picking the right coffin on the first try... On a side note did anyone get any house visit badges? I got House of Horrors. but none of the other ones activated.

Same here. Have HoH, but none of the others activated.

It was rather amusing to hear the Ops personnel say, "What are they doing?"

    Happened at every house.

  2. nope, a lot of things always break at HHN, you think they know how people act, yet things always end up breaking, I mean, I am just saying, I really hope the buttons last,

I hope they last as well.

The red button in Bloodngutz was gone before I went into the house on opening night. We hit that house at about 7:15/7:30.

In 2009, someone punched a hole in the facade of Dracula on opening night. They actually pointed it out to us on the UTH tour I went on and explained how they are constantly having to mend the sets.

  3. I'm glad to see that Universal has FINALLY tried some different merchandise. I'm wowed but some of it but not all... that's okay though... I love the pins, shirts and vinyl fig. And Shalisa is going bonkers over the shirts. But why is it that the women's shirts which have less material and printed images go for more than the full t-shirt? hmmm

Women's clothing is always more expensive. It's a conspiracy. It's why I use to buy men's jeans.

    Tell Shalisa hi for me!

I think I love the Bite Size shirt the most. My daughter is going to love it. Now if they only had HHN onesies, my life would be complete.

  4. I think those fake nurses were there to show where the real nurses will be in the house.

    I hope not.

Each fake nurse appears to be standing on a black circle. I'm really hoping that black circle is a simple mechanical pivot. That way we could get some movement from the fake one as well.

  5. I'm sure they will tweak it. I remember the first few runs through the Hallow were so dark I ran into walls, cornered myself, tried to walk out a emergency exit, walked behind the set, and bumped into people in front of me. But they lightened it up on subsequent runs.

I understand this so well. I got trapped in a tree in The Hallow.

Remember everyone, if it's still light out where sunglasses or an eye patch or you may become part of the scenery.

The brighter it is outside the darker the house will seem.

  6. I agree with everything Mr. Black is saying. It's just irresponsible of them. They already cut us down a house, now they cut us down a scarezone as well? And one that many people were looking forward to. It just feels like they ran into issues over using the name "Walkers" and were just like "Screw it, let's just scrap the zone entirely."

They haven't cut us down a zone.

Last year, 6 named zones. This year 5 named Legions and The Iniquitus. So 6.

The Walkers were never fully "revealed". We got a name with no description, that wasn't on the site for long.

What is being lamented is a possibility based on spec and incomplete data.

We've heard there are going to be scareactors at the front of the park. Some who have said they don't appear to be apart of the Vampires or Rat Lady escorts. This could make a 7th area.

Also considering the theme mentioned on the survey and the Walkers shown in the commercial, maybe everyone is jumping the gun a little.

Maybe Universal couldn't list the Walkers as one of their legions because of AMC. That doesn't mean zombies won't be in the streets. The street experience is described in terms of the legions on the map. The map also doesn't mention the Rat Lady or her escorts.

Until it is confirmed through someone saying they are no longer cast as a "walker" or a "walker" is not seen at the event, I think the best bet is to wait and see.

  7. Does anyone know whats up with the recurrence of the town Carey Ohio in the event? It has been in several house backgrounds before. Is it just a known haunted town or does it have some other significance?

i think one of the A&D members are from there.

Besides this ^, if memory serves me correctly, someone from A&D responded with "It's our Castle Rock" when they were asked that question.

Basically, it's the "fictional" play yard of A&D. Similar to King and Castle Rock.

  8. Now you do ;)

    I try.

We've had them before... but not to that degree. Mostly what you see is a short run and scrape when they've been at Uni's or HOS.

I went to the Fright Feast at HOS in 09. The sliders were out and there was no one else around except me and my husband. Further, they could tell I was afraid of them. Needless to say I had like 8 sliders come at me at once and chase me from that area. If you want to see them really move, head to the Fright Feast when the park is empty and don't run away from them.

The shovel scares from years past also achieved the same type of scare in me. Give me trash can lids, shaker cans, shovels and sliders on the street and I am one happy haunt fan. Scared, but happy.

  9. But to change it wouldn't take almost a week...

I'm not so sure about that. The website this year is extremely glitchy. I'm convinced there was some kind of huge problem the night of the reveal, and that's why we got the FB reveal. I wouldn't be surprised if it is website issues.

  10. 3rd: why dont we have sliders like HOS? is it like pepsi and coke? hhn = chainsaws, hos = sliders?

7th: why didnt anyone tell me i skipped 5th?!?!?!

We use to have sliders. I believe crowd levels inhibit the use of them now. I've also heard that sliders really tear up the streets, and it was a cost effective thing.

Sliders are the one street scareactor to truly scare me. It's the noise and sparks. I'm very auditory. I definitely miss them.

    You skipped 5th.

  11. but then the street construction would have to be very general

If you look at the construction pictures, this is exactly what is happening.

So far, I like our street backstory. It is the one year that set design won't totally take me out of the story.

I'm always distracted by the set pieces because I know they are set pieces. Seeing Mel's, Rockit, HMU, Simpsons, any of the attractions really takes me out of the zone. This year Uni is the backstory and the sets make sense.

  12. It's probably hype, but I wonder if we are looking at this with all options in mind?

Why does it have to be scareactors? What if it's something more like Moaning Myrtle?

A quick sound of breaking glass, zombie moans, banging noises, there are a number of noises that could produce a quick startle scare.

I still want away to shorten the wait time in the women's restroom.

  13. That would just be.... annoying... and I would hope bathrooms are "safe" I can't pee with a dude standing behind me... <_<

And I'm pretty sure there are laws against it.

    Oh and this was posted

I like the idea of no "safe zones" and I really wouldn't mind if they scared people in the women's restroom. It could cut down the lines!

Seriously, I hate waiting in lines for the houses so I get the express pass. The women's restrooms need express passes. I would do pay for it, no matter how much it cost.

But you're probably right, laws and such. Blah...

Love the pic. P&T looks awesome so far.

  14. Not just that, the names are spelled differently. Hawthorn on one and Hawthorne on the other.

Interesting. The history behind the spelling of Hawthorn can be traced back to the Salem Witch Trials. Nathianel Hawthorne changed the spelling of his name due to his ancestor's connection to the trials. At least the US History.

  15. A comment from Uni: (This is located in the comments of a question regarding safe zones)

"Who said shops and bathrooms will be safe zones...?"

If someone can link or get a screenshot of the comment it would be appreciated. I have only phone access right now and well, I'm still technologically impaired. Also, if anyone is willing to teach me how to do these thing via phone it would be appreciated.

  16. Since games are still being hinted at:

How does everyone think they will be done? LT, something like LT, or website games?

Will we explore a backstory? Do you think it will center around a house? Dead End since it's in Carey? Or will it be around The Iniquitus.

  17. I've really been wanting the same thing. But from what others suggested, due to both safety and potentially litigious guests, this is apparently unlikely.

    But we sure can hope!!

I think sidewalks are going to be out of bounds for the scareactor, unfortunately. They are a tripping hazard and litigious guests are a sad reality.

I know everyone was saying BG made it work, but BG doesn't really have sidewalks, so I don't think it's a very good comparison.

Now, if the scareactors are allowed to give chase, then I have a simple solution for us "diehards" who wish to immerse ourselves:

Think of the sidewalks as out of bounds for yourself. Do not walk on them unless you need to enter a building or use a restroom. Stay to the streets. If you need an immersive "excuse" to add to the horror, then consider the sidewalks a dead end.

Our backstory for the streets is: Uni is being overrun by monsters they dug up. The majority of buildings at Uni are facades and we cannot enter them. So, if your are trying to "escape", you would not want to corner yourself against a wall.

  18. I for one am over the moon were getting a stage show rather than Death Drums because I hated that. If I want to watch monsters dancing to music I'll watch the Thriller video thanks. I personally hope it never returns, I always got the impression it was a budget cut alternative to paying for a stage performer. Anyway I've not seen these guys before and I'm avoiding finding out too much about them because I don't want to ruin the surprise. I enjoyed Brushwood and the guy they had in 2008 who's name escapes me at present. If anyone remembers the trick he did with the video and people recording it on their phones etc that was pretty cool. I think I'm one of the few who would like to see a show based on the icon of each year. Like a mini theatre show explaining their background, motives and origins. Seeing as it looks like we are not getting an icon this year I realise this isn't possible at HHN 22 but it's something I'd like to see in the future.

I believe Brushwood was the guy who did the video trick. He has been at the event more than once.
