  1. My personal opinion is that Purge would/will only work as a street. It's actually similar to how I feel about the idea for an Exorcist house. There aren't enough environments for a house to be successful. Now, I have not seen the first Purge movie, but it seems similar to The Collector/Last House on the Left/Strangers. Basically, it's home invasion horror usually with a bit of torture porn thrown into the mix. The three movies I just mentioned would never translate well to a house in my opinion. Actually, The Strangers scene in Silver Screams always seemed too long to me, and that was just one room. The Exorcist only has one environment. I suppose they could use other movies in the franchise and include the foyer and crab-walk scenes, but there just isn't enough variety.
  2. That clue could be for a street. Not a house. Cassi is up to Clue 11 (which doesn't include the Who am I? clues). Some of her clues must be for streets. EDIT: Since Cassi's street clues have pointed to locations, I decided to see if I could connect and SZ location to the clue. To Market, To Market is used as a bedtime story by Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street. Kris Kringle works at Macy's in that movie. There is a Macy's Facade in NY. Purge = scarezone on NY streets
  3. Don't do that to me!!! Danse Macabre is also a King book. Hopes flew high for a second there!
  4. New permit: BLD2014-03977 No location listed on this one. Since I'm mobile, I'm unable to upload photo.
  5. Ahh, spec! I've seen it start as early as the day after the event. The "classic" debate on the Vault started right after HHN 18. Some know, some are somewhat sure, some is guess work. Finding trends and extrapolating. I'm not sure of anything, because things can change. That's the only thing I'm ever sure of. Change can and does occur. Is Jack back? Are Cassi's Who am I? clues pointing to a theme? An Icon? Are they just backstory to keep us entertained? I hope my answers are correct, but the puzzles are just a way to past time for now. Something to keep us busy while we wait for "Soon" to finally arrive. I am, however, "convinced" about an Alien or AVP house. But that's purely my desire to see Xenomorphs at the event.
  6. No announcement today. Although, Mr. Aiello did acknowledge the anniversary on FB. Is it sad that I might stay up til midnight, just to make sure?
  7. JDW said they were called crows during his UTH. Crows are blackbirds as are ravens. Doc's tumblr pic of birds appears to be a flock or more appropriately a murder of crows.
  8. I think this is a servant of Oddfellow's. Someone who was a part of the carnival before Jack took over. Chaotic Prince = Jack. His retribution = Jack killing Oddfellow Bound by the vessel = the speaker is bound to serve the person who controls the "cane of souls" His restitution = the person is looking to give back the carnival to Oddfellow. The reason I believe this is not Oddfellow speaking to us: His not my. The speaker separates his/her (I'm leaning toward her) self from the people involved in the retribution and restitution. It's not in first person. He/she is speaking of them not his/her self.
  9. *looks at Doc's tumblr* Doc posted pics of several Charlies. Bucket, Brown, Chaplin... As I have wondered for a bit, who is Charlie? This may be a difficult code name to decipher. Sooo many famous Charlies. As Cody reminded me on my FB, HHN has it's own Charlie. Charlie McPherson from Dead Exposure.
  10. @HorrorNightsORL: Posts have been scarce lately... Working like crazy! So for your patience.. New codename : Charlie. It's a new original maze. New code name! That's 2 by my count. Altar Charlie
  11. I feel it will be a return of or similar to 2006's Blood Masquerade zone.
  12. We don't need an IP for a vampire masquerade. 2006 had the scarezone Blood Masquerade. I do agree that Doc's Performance #1 is a vampiric masquerade. Hopefully a return of Blood Masquerade, but more elaborate. It's been awhile since we had the living statue scare in the streets, but it is the thing I remember the most from Blood Masquerade. To sum up: Harlequin of Horror is an amazing, awesome person! Brava!! Wonderful work! Broken steampunk clowns. What sort of disaster led to this clown's mechanical transformation? Clownsaw Drill Team. Want it! Must have it! It's the perfect scareactor role ever! There's a certain inmate clown who wielded a saw previously. And I can only hope he is cast in this role! Jack must sing I'm a little teapot at some point. Needs to happens. Vampires (vampyrs?) in the streets is something I hope for now.
  13. Clue 4 appears to reference Jack. Who am I pt. 1 seems to be a picture of the Dust Witch, and the "voice" of the text seems to be the Dust Witch. Who am I pt. 2 seems to be a picture of Dr. Oddfellow or taken from Dr. Oddfellow's promotional material, but the "voice" of the text still appears to be that of the Dust Witch. Jack was originally a part of Dr. Oddfellow's traveling circus in the 1920s and killed by Dr. Oddfellow. In 2000, a box that contained Jack's spirit (possibly body as well) was purchased by Universal. After Jack was brought backed to life in 06 as a mortal man, he proceeded to hunt down and kill Dr. Oddfellow after escaping from Shadybrook. He took over Oddfellow's circus in 07. Dr. Oddfellow appears to have been "immortal" due to the large gap in time between Jack's original death, and Dr. Oddfellow's death. This immortality has been attributed to the "cane of souls" that Ringmaster Jack has possession of now. Yes, Something Wicked This Way Comes is about a traveling carnival. If memory serves, Dr. Oddfellow's carnival was an homage to this Ray Bradbury story. Take that to where you will spec wise. Is Jack coming back? Is Oddfellow reappearing? Will we see the two of them at odds or Jack back in Dr. Oddfellow's service? Interesting tidbit... With the latest clue from Cassilda pointing to both voodoo and gypsies, the only way I can see a single scarezone holding both of these themes is through a Dark Carnival over all theme. Gypsy caravans tend to be a visual staple to old traveling circuses, and the Dust Witch does resemble a gypsy fortune teller.
  14. Can I live in denial? Please!!!!! Grrrr *shakes fist at Potter for getting my hopes up*
  15. Ok! I think I have a location link! Cassi references constellations (stars) and there's the QR code that linked to Hollywood challenge. Anywhere in USF that can link to stars and Hollywood? Yes! Hollywood Blvd! One more link! The creature is represented in the HMU lobby which is on Hollywood blvd!
  16. Since we hadn't been looking for scarezone locations with previous clues, this didn't occur to me, but... Give me a bit, and I can probably connect it to a SZ location. As for the series of clues: We've only had 3 clues that have contain parts. Halloween, Face Off, and who am I. I've got a theory as to why these clues contain parts. These are the only things that were not previously speculated. Cassi dropping Halloween or Face Off or a possible theme in one clue would draw attention. The kind of attention Cassi doesn't want.
  17. Who am I? (non-Clue) The text aluudes to the movie/novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury. The line " I see nothing and I see all" imples the dust witch whose eyes and mouth were sewn shut but could still see and do other many powerful things. "We are of the fall" Impies The autumn people who ran the dark carnival headed by Mr. Dark aka the tattooed man. Jeramy was able to invert and adjust the levels to reveal a picture of the Dust Witch. Who am I? Pt2 Fellow ship with Odd = Oddfellow as in the Carnival that Jack was a part of and eventually took over in 2007. Stripped of beauty/eyes and mouth hushed/Never seeing but always knowing seems to hearken back to the first clue about the dust witch. Indentured to the dark man could be a reference to selling once soul or it could be a reference to Jack,OddFellow, or Mr. Dark in Something Wicked This Way Comes. The below image was found and it appears the clue references Dr. Oddfellow. Who am I? Pt 3 Who am I? pt 4 https://cdn.anonfiles.com/1401840549168.mp3 Thanks to 12 monkeys for tweaking the pic
  18. We may have cracked Cassi's code on Clue 8. Jeramy tried coordinates. They pointed to an alley in Pasadena, CA called Hugus Alley. After many a googling fingers: Hugus Alley was used in the movie The Sting. Once you get me into my word play semantic zone... An alley used in the Sting? Sting Alley! So Japanese urban legends/horror in Sting Alley!
  19. Link to Japan Legends on the Good Doctor's tumblr: http://drjimmyandbob.tumblr.com/post/85187863157/illustrated-book-of-japanese-monsters-by-gojin-ishihara Geishas, while innuendo and flirting may be involved, are not prostitues (there is still confusion and controversary regarding geishas). The original male geishas were entertainers who performed for the patrons of the Oiran. The Oiran were the courtesans. While some prostitutes will refer to themselves as geishas, they are not geishas. Doc's use of Three Little Maids most likely is not due to any numerical significance, but is due to it's representation of "geishas" and Japanese imagery. Using the Doc's tumblr images, one can see how beauty can hide a demon in Japanese folklore: Jorōgumo: "According to some stories, a Jorōgumo is a spider that can change its appearance into that of a seductive woman." Several of the other images portray female yokai or demons. While the Denali coven may be considered the "originators" of the succubus legend in The Twilight world, succubi and incubi are legends with various sources that have been around, etymologically speaking, since the 12th century. Folklores and legends from Ancient Egypt have creatures that resemble succubi. The use of a myth/legend in a book does not make every other mention of that myth linked to that particular book series. If that were the case, then I could argue the following: Richelle Mead wrote a series of books about a succubus. Ms. Mead is best known for her Vampire Academy book series and it's spin off The Bloodlines series. Vampire Academy had a movie released this year. The DVD for Vampire Academy comes out on May 20th (tomorrow). Since Mike has stated we are going to get an announcement soon, the announcement is for a Vampire Academy house/street. ^this of course is not going to happen. The foremost reason being, VA isn't horror just like Twilight isn't horror. One thing more: Universal already as Incubi and Succubi within the HHN mythos. Edit: Regarding the Go! game board in Clue 8. My husband has stated it isn't Braille, or if it is, the spacing for it is wrong. I'm awful at "math" puzzles. Graphs frighten me. I will be of no help for that particular part of the riddle. One more edit: I completely missed the excluding Twilight part of that. I apologize. Doc has posted clues about vampires, but succubi aren't traditionally vampires. They are more akin to sirens and mermaids in mythology. I feel Doc's vampire hints and his Japanese references are separate.
