  1. *points to HHN 15* coughDemonCantinacough EDIT: that's what I get for writing a novel for a reply. ghostdude beat me to it! And regarding ratings, when one wonders why an IP isn't used, one should consider whether those who own the rights to the IP are willing to accept Universal's PG13 rating scale for the houses.
  2. Not if you remembered to say fancy peacock. I feel as if people mentioning the fact that Dracula Untold will most likely not be a typical vampire movie is being ignored. The movie is an origin story. Anyone who has ever had an interest in the man behind the monster has researched Vlad Tepes, and this will be the story of how he became Dracula. This movie is about a historical figure turned literary classic. It's not entirely unfamiliar ground. Why would Universal choose this IP? It's the first IP they have cocreated in the new Legendary/Universal partnership. It is the first Dracula based movie done in several years and they are constantly mentioning that. Dracula is one of their big names. It has been since the studio began making horror films. It's a money making advertisement for the movie. And the trailer for the movie can be a money making advertisement for the event! Come experience Dracula Untold before it's even in theaters!!!!! Wolfman house is indeed a good example to compare this movie to. As is the Thing prequel. Both of those houses as well as this one already have known environments and mythologies. Can anyone say right now what will see in this house? Not really, because we haven't seen the movie. But if it's done in a similar way to The Thing and Wolfman, it will be the trailer come to life. We will have seen that by the time the event rolls around. As for too much vampires... Well HHN hasn't had a vampire house since 2009. There was the roaming Vampires in 12, but I'd hardly call that over kill. If you are referring to popular teen romance novels. No, they don't count as vampires. Just no. I have to ask: If Dracula Untold is too much vampires, how do people feel with the possible From Dusk til Dawn rumor?
  3. I think it means... We have had independent confirmation from several rumor sources, and that leads to the line-up being very likely. I'm a fan of underdog spec, I usually fight for it, but when several sources are stating the same thing, we should take the line-up as we've seen it. Now, this does not mean anything is "officially confirmed". Official confirmation can only come from one source, and that is Universal itself. While rumors/leaks/spec can be completely spot on, no one can officially confirm anything except for Universal. So, take the rumored line-up as extremely probable, but until announced nothing is official.
  4. Thanks! I had a total aha! moment when I saw that plaque. At least my crazy HHN obsession pays off while watching TV shows filmed at Universal!!!
  5. Thanks for the heads up! Speaking of permit mysteries, I have a theory regarding SS20 not being used. I watched the Tonight Show last night, and the opening had Jimmy Fallon walking through a door that had a plaque reading Soundstage 20. Anyone who has attended tapings, is SS20 being used for the Tonight Show?
  6. A few thoughts (probably more than a few since it's been awhile since I've been able to post)... HhnRumors list: I find it interesting that their list appeared soon after Jeramy, Jimmy, and Jeff (further referenced as the Js) posted code names. I, personally, feel their "take that with a grain a salt" in reference to AvP to be strange. Jeramy and I both speculated about Alien (I believe Predator was also speculated on) before any clues were given out. Well, except for Mr. Murdy's code names. Way back in this thread, I linked "Beauty is only Skin Deep" (HHNH's fan freak out maze) to Alien. I also speculated that since HHNH's fan freak out was tweeted about at the same time Mr. Aiello tweeted about an OMG HHNO house being locked that the two houses were possibly a shared property. AvP seems very plausible to me. Thoughts on houses: As for code name EVAC, it is perfect for AvP (or just Aliens), and may give us an idea as to the nature of the house. Opening scene of AvP: Requiem is of the Yuajta fighting the Xenomorphs and evacuating their ship. To avoid any noises from the mouse down the road, an original spin on this franchise could be seen. Dracula Untold: Don't expect a Vampire house. This movie appears to be an origin story. Since Drac is the "first" vampire, then there won't be too many vampires making appearances in the movie or house. I've seen Baba Yaga mentioned. She's a Romanian myth. Vlad Tepes was considered a important Romanian figure. While extremely cruel, Tepes was also a Christian religious crusader, and unified the region against the Ottoman Empire. It will be interesting to see this take. Halloween: This is extrapolation and reasoning from the information presented so far. If we concede that A - Halloween will be a house B - code name Captain is for the house being built in Tent 2. (This permit does not contain a code name.) C - code name Captain is for Halloween. Then. A + B + C = D D - Halloween is locked and will most likely not be replaced or changed. Permits for the Tents and Disaster were pulled on 5/13/14. Disaster is already receiving scenic treatment (sets are being decorated). This means the Tents are most likely in the same phase. It could occur, but I find it unlikely that a house that is completely "built" and being decorated would be demoed and revamped. EDIT: Forgot a thought! Nothing is officially confirmed until it is announced by Universal!
  7. Two new permits have been filed. BLD2014-04436 24B - Synergy BLD2014-04441 24A - Evac EDIT: I'm guessing Synergy and Evac are code names.
  8. Wasn't sure which thread to put this in. Jeramy or Mark feel free to move!! From Cassilda:
  9. *hands Jeff a bag of Halls* It cures persistent coughs. Obligatory King connection from Mysti: Roanoke Croatan = Storm of the Century. I can connect anything! Anything to King!!! Seriously though, feasts, colonies, thanksgivings....what's being eaten? I'm guessing it's not corn. And why do we have to choose Massachussetts or Mexico?
  10. There are 4 permits. BLD2014-03648 for Sprung 1 (La Llorona's location last year) BLD2014-03653 for Sprung 2 (Afterlife location last year) BLD2014-03655 for Disaster Queue BLD2014-03977 no location listed. Notice of Commencement for the first three houses (most likely sprungs and disaster) was filed 6/2/14. PDE Homes is listed as the business contracted build. (Yes, I was surprised it was Fake as well). The reason we have only 3 permits with locations may very well be the new company's way of doing business. Pull permits for the current projects, then pull more when moving onto the next.
  11. Yep! The full quote is "Viewed some in progress scenic today". It's stage speak. Scenic refers to the stage dressing. The scenery.
  12. Sorry, Jeff, but I don't find you frightening! I love Jeramy's idea. I hope he's right! And yes, it would make a decent icon.
  13. For those who don't read backwards. It's from Macbeth. Double, Double toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble. I apologize for using the M word. But apparently something wicked this way comes.
  14. From Cassilda: Who am I? Pt 4 Can't seem to get link for QR code to post. It's an audio file.
  15. It appears Fake Productions is not building the first three houses. The Notice of Commencement displays a different business name.
  16. Mike's been sneaking in references. Angels in Winter's Night. The TARDIS in AWIL. It would be difficult to do a full Doctor Who house. It's scifi not really horror. Many of the creatures/aliens could be used in horror. Those dolls that 11 Amy and Rory faced, the Silence, the clock works... Torchwood had some great ones as well. The 456 and the weevils. I hope Mike may use some as inspiration.
  17. When I saw the concept art for this potential Hollywood zone, I immediately thought of Doctor Who The Girl in the Fireplace. If Mike didn't have a small hand in this creation, I'd be surprised. And if we get a Masquarade that is just a coincidence, I can see it being very similar to this design. Although, I think the clock work part of the Doctor Who episode would be more fun than cannibals.
  18. The bean sidhe (pronounced ban shee, English spelling banshee) are Aos si, or members of the Fair Folk/Good Neighbors. Banshees are faeries. But... Bean sidhe are not vampiric. While I see a small similarity between the Nightingales and the bean sidhe, it's entirely superficial. They share the fact that they are female and both had a "cry". Bean sidhe don't feed on their "victims". Technically, they don't have victims. Their cry/wail announces death . It does not cause death. The only association with blood that banshees have is through the washerwoman aspect. In those versions, they are the weeping washerwomen who are seen washing the blood from clothes/armor/shrouds. Even these versions do not kill. They announce death. Part of the Scottish mythos is that each clan has its own banshee. As for Cassi clue 12, it may be due to my current reread, but the text reminded me of the Strigoi from the Vampire Academy series. Strigoi. Strengoit. See a similarity? Goth Wackee actually has a few books that she had "liked". The VA series is on of them. Here's a wiki on Strigoi: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strigoi They're an actual Romanian myth.
  19. Yep! That's what is alluded to in the quotes. All they find is her doll, but the face is gone. Cindy's face is all burnt up. So, now I'm thinking... Cindy's story is somewhat known by the HHN fandom, but if they remove or tweak certain aspects of her story, the basic premise is "lonely little girl whose only friend is a doll". And this has made me think of Robert. Dear HHN masters, Please, please don't base a house off of Robert. PLEASE!!! Even a resemblance to him will make the house terrifying. For love you have for us, me?....please!!!!
  20. Answered my own question: "Her only friend was a large porcelain doll, which Cindy considered her twin sister." "Cindy escaped into the graveyard, her face a trail of burning flesh. The next morning, Police and Fire officials found only the remains of Cindys doll, its porcelain face missing." http://www.horrornightnightmares.com/hhn-xii-islands-of-fear/ Cindy's original backstory. Hmmmm....
  21. You haven't seen anything yet! I haven't tried to analyze our two code names yet, because I know how convoluted I can be. I can overthink and link just about anything. Charlie has soooo many options, and I could start from one point and end up in a completely different theme. Although, Doc's pic of Charlie Tuna has me thinking The Incredible Mr. Limpet. Childhood favorite of mine. Most Don Knotts movies were childhood favorites of mine. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and of course his appearances on Scooby Doo. He did voice work in a Pinocchio animated movie. Pinocchio is a doll that comes to life. Everyone keeps talking about dolls. Did any of the Orfans have dolls? I'm assuming Pure Imagination is Doc's Charlie clue. Children have pure imagination. But Kiddy Widdy Winkies seems more applicable to a "boogeyman" house. Charlie Brown, Charlie from TrT, Charles Manson, Charlene McGee, Charlie McPherson, I even considered Charlie = Charles = Ghostbusters. Charlene "Charlie" McGee = the main character from The Firestarter. HHN has it's own little girl fire starter. Cindy? Charlie is a mystery.
