  1. I remember how anticipated the movie was, and the wait for it to finally be released. In a way, it was like Scarezone. All sorts of hype, but it was only being seen at festivals. I never did get to see Scarezone. I could never find a DVD. I'll have to go searching for it. Wouldn't mind seeing Collections of the Past again. 08 had a couple of A&D "love notes" to movies. IT was a homage to Event Horizon. EDIT: Icon rumors. Whatever we get will be a marketing creation. The "hype" is too blasé for anything else.
  2. The first screening for TRT was December 9th, 2007. The movie never got a major theater release. The movie was well-known amongst horror enthusiasts prior to its DVD release in 2009. I need to find vids to remind myself, but if memory serves the cast change with the bus was copied from a scene in the movie.
  3. Skoolhouse in 08 was a tribute/homage to TRT. My gut instinct is that there is a little confusion going on and TRT is actually a return of the Traditionals from 2012 or we are revisiting the Skoolhouse.
  4. Maybe there's still more to spec on... Given HHNManics two clues for Festival of the Dead (culture and day), I'm assuming the belief is Day of the Dead theme? There's a far more simplistic answer for a zone by that name. Also, considering everyone's talk regarding a DOTD themed zone or house, I'm surprised Esqueleto Muerte hasn't been mentioned.
  5. It may be what I heard as well, but those types of props could make sense for any number of houses. I'm going by facade pics and logic. If things are going to be grown, access to sunlight is necessary.
  6. Tent 2 is the one near MIB. Tent 1 is behind Simpsons. The Tent 2 facade isn't usually as accessible as Tent 1 from public areas. Tent 1 is the one we can usually see. Tent 1 isn't gothic architecture. Someone posted a pic in this thread of a clapboard church during the Dust Bowl. I'll see if I can find an image of a clapboard church.
  7. Taking a wild guess that you're still off a little. Considering your post about the Scarecrow maze, sunlight is needed for things to grow and thrive. Switch Scarecrow and Gothicombs. EDIT to add: Tent 1 is the facade we had peeks of, right? Midwest clapboard church makes sense for a a facade for a scarecrow/Dust Bowl house. I've seen other images of the facade. I'm almost positive I can see the collapsed spire/steeple of the church in those.
  8. I think you'd run into a different issue with older serial killers. It wouldn't be family or unrecognized names, it would be tropes. As an example: Hotel that houses hidden passages that allows the abduction and murder of guests = Holmes. It's been done. The earlier you go, some horror movie will have had an inspiration from it. Look at Jack. He's Gacy mixed with Pennywise. While the character has evolved, that's his root. Without the the appeal of the recognizable name, it is simply a trope that we've seen before.
  9. Too many years with far more complex puzzles and clues. Subtlety is lost on Marketing. Their clues are cute. That's it. As stated, the clue screams SOUL. Expect the unexpected is cliché. If we got an Icon, or Icons, as the use of we may suggest, I have little faith he/she/they will be fully fleshed out and realized characters. I'm a cynic in this matter, sorry.
  10. Soul, blood, heart, brain, lungs, air, water, or food. It's in order of most likely to least likely.
  11. The markings feel more similar to vevè, than to Day of the Dead imagery. As I said, they are too geometrical. The lines are too straight. Not enough flow. The Voodoo Queen's minions (the ones who brought the sacrifice to the stage) from 24 had 3 stones arranged in a line across the tops of their skull masks. One scareactor had red stones in the eye sockets of the skull on his hat. As as for that gif, it was posted to FB and Twitter. My gut reaction to seeing it removed from the other artwork is: It's not artwork. It's not a computer generated image. I'm not great with computer stuff, but certain details stand out. The water looks real. The light reflection isn't from candles, but from stationary lights. The dew drops on the flowers do not move. You can see the back of the skull through the mouth. I think I'm going to have to speculate that we aren't looking at a computer generated image, but an actual prop.
  12. That is one of the Iniquitus from 2012.
  13. Yes and no. Past websites have ha subtle clues to hint toward the icon. In 08, the gender of the mysterious doctor was only hinted at, initially, through the items left by her grandmother. I think the question we would really need to ask is: Who's work is this? Is this marketing or creative? The answer to that question would tell us how much credence we should give to clues being within the art work. Too many to quote: I'm not seeing a Dias de los Muertos design in the skull. To me, it is more Terra Cruentas. It's too geometrical(?) for Dias de los Muertos for me.
  14. This "tag line" is bothering me. Every past tag line by an icon has been addressed to attendees or a command. Commands: Ticket, please. or Say my name. Addressed: Your time will come. or You don't know Jack. This one is inclusive. It is either referencing the Icon as one of us and we are a part of the "all our", or the icon is in some way multiple. Not dual, but multiple. The all makes the our more than 2. Let's say the prevailing spec of Cindy/Caretaker is close. We are still missing an aspect. Our time will come would be sufficient. All implies there's at least a 3rd entity.
  15. Yet, even the quote "All our times will come" can be interpreted as all icons reappearing. Mary is the only one who has yet to appear more than once.
  16. Just going to say it... There's only one icon that has ever been associated with roses, and she's suppose to be the one we can't have. The frame has roses on it. There's roses in the water(?). I can't tell if we are looking into something or down at something. If in, then water doesn't make sense. The logo appears metallic and reflective. And we've seen a similar R before. It wasn't exact, but the logo for 18 had a similar R in reflection. I'm convinced this update was designed to totally mess with my brain.
  17. Mary is complicated. The trademark is a standard character mark. Basically, this type of mark gives broad rights and is literal. The trademark is for the actual words. Universal can't use the words Bloody Mary to describe her. Now, Mike Aiello created the backstory and character of Dr. Mary Agana. I have always contended that UO can use Dr. Agana, they just can't call her Bloody Mary. And that's the problem. Most people would have no idea who Dr. Agana is. She lost her "screenname". It'd be like Dr. Albert Caine losing the use of The Caretaker. Insert Icon, remove Iconic Name.
  18. Fake Productions was the usual contractor back then. All the houses are built by outside companies. Fake has been active again with HHN houses since Diagon opened, but other contractors are still being utilized. Uni doesn't have an "on staff" contractor and construction crew (to my knowledge). Permits must, usually, be pulled by a licensed contractor. It's been a bit since I checked the Orange County Comptroller, but Notices of Commencement should be there or should filed soon. Those will list the contractors working on the houses.
  19. Missed these before. The first one is audio from one of the Screamhouse queue videos, if memory serves. The second one is obviously Jack's Pop goes the Weasel.
  20. That would be a wave, not a tide. Tides are different than waves. Tides are created by the gravitational pulls of the moon and sun. The tides are higher during new and full moons. Given recent tweets by others, the usage of Queen could point us in a completely different direction from the Mummy. Although, I find it difficult to attribute tides and brides to xenomorphs.
  21. There is precedent for a Mummy house. 2, actually. I remember the the scarabs the best from them. Again, I process audio the best. Besides, what does Mummy have to do with tides?
  22. Gargoyle mythology plus bone churches (ossuary churches). Gargoyles protected the dead. While ossuary churches were not as common in France as other European countries, they do exist. Here's an image of the Sedlec Ossuary.
  23. Gothic took place in a catherdal the was protected by gargoyles. Catacombs took place in catacombs. It was subtitle Black Death Rising. It had plague doctors and plague victims. I'm never good at describing houses. I tend toward auditory perceptions. While I can appreciate the visual appeal and immersion, it is the audio sound effects that stand out. Check out the 2010 house threads for Catacombs reviews and the 2012 house threads for Gothic reviews.
  24. Impatience. That's how. You mentioned vague clues, but also missing the past. This is why we can't have the past. The past was official vague clues we had to piece together. Impatience has destroyed the games and build A&D use to create. Even when someone tries to keep that spirit alive, no one is satisfied. At at least we have one original we can get clues on still. While I can't really spec much anymore due to life getting in the way, it nice to vicariously play the ole clue game.
  25. Saying they swapped The Conjuring for anything would be assuming they had a choice. As I mentioned back when The Conjuring was first rumored, The Conjuring has been in continual litigation. It is currently involved in a $900 million suit regarding rights. The suit doesn't just name WB, but everyone who has had a hand in the movies including James Wan. Brittle has a case. WB will have to argue that it is based on historical events to get around Brittle's rights. Brittle only has to prove that he was initially fooled by or agreed to create fiction with the Warrens. Recent publicity and other lawsuits has brought out the inaccuracies in the Warrens "facts" regarding their cases. WB can't prove historical fact when it is easy to obtain the records showing that the "witch" owner in the first Conjuring never existed. Whether Uni walked away from litigation hell or were forced to stop, the results are the same. The Conjuring can't/won't happen. It's the wisest course of action by Universal. Now, as for TWD being the replacement, one can only hope Universal has seen the decline in material and popularity.
