  1. The vamp house wasn't confirmed when that rumor/info first appeared. I shall leave it at that. Agreed. You can't compare the two due to the completely disparate tones. The original one is camp slathered in cheese with more cheese sauce thrown on top. The reboot is serious horror.
  2. ^This. This is why it will be called Ash vs. the Evil Dead. Considering individuals on this forum are confusing the reboot with the original, it makes perfect sense to highlight the fact that this is ASH not Mia. They aren't bringing it back. Evil Dead 1 and 2 have never been at the event. The closest we have come to Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead is the Pit Bitch (sorry for the language, but that's the actual name of the character) scene in Silver Screams, and that is technically from Army of Darkness. I have seen many people asking why there isn't a dark comedy house or what do you think the dark comedy house will be? The answer is quite simple. Ash vs. the Evil Dead will be the dark comedy house. The amount of camp in the original Evil Dead is phenomenal. Look no further than the Deadites for campy, dark comedy. The reboot took a far more serious route than the original Evil Dead.
  3. It hasn't changed. That is one of Iniquitus from HHN 22. 53 + 23 = 76. 7/6 Reading more of the tweets, they seem to be implying there is no icon.
  4. There is a difference in actual marketing, i.e. announcements, and social media interactivity. My complaints in their marketing strategy are not a lack of announcements, but a lack of interactivity. You don't need to announce things to garner excitement. 2008 is a prime example of this. Social media had yet to take hold, but there was enough interactivity through small updates and clues to drive daily multiple hits to Uni's website starting in June. As I said, it's not the lack of information, but the lack of imagination. They hold themselves as one of the best, but are doing very poorly to market that. You know how everyone complains about the Mouse living off of its past reputation while providing a noticeably inferior product? That's how I feel about the current marketing initiative. The product being the actual marketing attempts, not the event. The marketing is inadequate. They are basically vaguebooking through canned phrases and cliches. If you are going to attempt to engage fans via social media, you need to do a better job.
  5. Mike has far more on his plate than HHN. It was changed due to his need to focus on all his responsibilities. Now, those running the Twitter account are most likely as in the dark as we are. They are most likely only provided information when it is deemed necessary. Limiting the number of individuals who have information limits the potential for information to leak. It is not the lack of information that is the issue, but the lack of imagination. It would be quite simple to supply clues and cryptic information that aren't so heavy handed and cliche without providing details to those who shouldn't have it. Someone, somewhere, in marketing knows everything. It is this person who seems to lack the imagination to put forth teasers with substance. It would, also, be better if the social media team/personnel refrained from typical "spooky behavior" and learned to create better exchanges. When faced by witty comebacks or speculation, they resort to canned phrases. They need individuals who are better at on demand verbal comebacks.
  6. I'm 5'1". They are going to be huge to anyone my height. Dementors may be a more appropriate first thought given the extra weight. Or puppets for the rumored sci-fi zone. There's another possibility, Canyon. I'll need to look back at pics of that zone, though.
  7. Exactly how large are they planning on these stilts walkers being? I think that's probably our largest hint/clue. Even if the Bigfoot stilts are on the smaller side, that places the males at 7'6" to 8'2". If the stilts are closer to 48" instead of 18", that's at least 10 ft.
  8. Me brain decided to finally start connecting dots. While the Iniquitus still stand as a potential for the icon answer, I've found/remembered a far more likely group. The Soul Harvesters from HHN 16 Harvest of the Souls. They would fit perfectly into a Dust Bowl/Scarecrow house thus giving us an icon house. Its a great way to bring some elements of Crowe's story to fruition without using a known unused character. All the Reaper clues fit. As well as the desire for souls. Reaping is harvesting. Reapers are harvesters. Scythes can be used to reap corn. The Reaper carries a scythe. I can even think of a potential familial name, although it's not very imaginative, Grimm. Here's one of the harvesters:
  9. They may or may not care, but T.j. and others have stated in the past that they read the forums. Individuals from marketing most likely read them as well. I, at least, feel very confident that someone somewhere will read that rant. I can only hope it will in some way create a shift or change. Consider it my "survey comment" since I can't get the survey to pop up for me. 2012. Horror Unearthed game. This was the year the Legions were introduced. While much of the game play was in park, there were clues sent to at home players that the in park players needed solved. We, those at home, were emailed riddles that gave the locations for the in park players to meet. We had to solve them by a particular meeting time so that members of certain Legions could gain points. The first one was solved rather quickly. I used a location mentioned in the clue to determine the language of the rest of the clue. After that I simply copied the text and placed it into google translate. After that point, the riddle portion that was in another language came as a pic. Things got progressively harder. The Baccanoid challenge came to us as Chinese characters. After several apps, online foreign language keyboards, and individuals attempting to draw the characters in a translator hadn't gotten a definitive answer, one player drove to her local Chinese restaurant and got us a translation. Of course!! Using my Legion sorting, could the Festival of the Dead zone be a different culture then we have initially suspected? A Chinese or Voudon festival? Yes and no. He has had correct info, but it sometimes feels as if the rumors are more of a spec and a throw things at the wall and see what sticks type. She doesn't. Although, she could be retconned. It would be quite easy to tweak her story to make her a reaperesque type character. The room from the first movie. Reversed bear trap. One where the person's hand gets cut by saw. Barbed wire one. I was distracted by the Victim and the Saw movies have never been my cup of tea. Sorry for the novel, I was at work.
  10. I want the 08 build back, the question is would that be enough to lure in the GP and can all the leaks be plugged? I'm not in marketing, but I see the reactions of the fan base as well as the GP. A slow build with intermittent announcements for the big draws. Let us play with you if your going to be "play cryptic games". And for the love of all things horror, stop being so predictable! Chessy, creepy selfie guy looks like a creeper. Not frightening in a "horror way", but in a "crazy fanboy, must avoid way". Or it's just laughable. You are trying too hard, my dear social media team. Your comebacks and burns border on the cliche. That ginger comment was well prepared in advanced. I knew how they would reply. Want to burn or be cryptic? Stop being a predictable "horror villain". We get it your "spooky and edgy", but your clues are easy to solve. Your threats lack imagination. You are dealing with a group of people who have, in the past, driven to a Chinese restaurant to translate a riddle. (That is not hyperbole). There's a reason long time fans only engage with you in snippets while dismissing your attempts at banter. We've had far better opponents in the past.
  11. Has anyone tried to see if there are any clickable features. And since I don't have an actual computer: Can someone post what the regular site looks like? I only have access to the mobile version.
  12. In 2014, they openly sorted houses into Legions via the app. That was the only year to openly do so. The Legions, I believe, were created such a way as to easily sort past, present, and future horrors into them. Take the traits of each legion coupled with the Lineages (there's that word I've been looking for) and you can see the tropes and characteristics to sort a monster. Thought while I was playing the sorting game: there's many cultures with a festival of the dead. Chinese Double Ninth and Ghost Festivals. Fet Gede in Voudon.
  13. Not really. It's quite easy to place various villains, evils, and monsters into the Legions. There's, actually, 6 "family" trees for the Legions. Makes it easier to figure out who would go where. Saw - Maschorians Gothicombs - Kerezan and Cerebin Deadites - Morphans Blumhouse would have a mixture of Legions - Morphans, Maschorians, Baccanoids, Cerebin, Kerezan Bayou of Blood - Cerebin (edited again because I re downloaded the T.E.S.T app) Dust Bowl - depends on how they go with it. Baccanoids, Morphans, Cerebins The Shining - Kerezan, Maschorians, Baccanoids AHS - every Legion Link to the family trees: http://www.hhnyearbook.com/2014/04/hhn-22-descendants-legions-horror/
  14. That's the Iniquitus. Well, some of them. They released the Legions of Horror in 2012. We have rumored zones that can be linked to 2012 with the rumored Trick R Treat zone, which I feel is more likely trick or treaters aka the Traditionals/Morphans from 2012. SciFi zone could easily be seen as linking to the Beasts/Cerebin from 2012. Purge can link to the Prisoners/Maschorians. Mummy has been rumored on other forums. The Mummy is directly tied to Kerezan. That leaves the Vamps/Strengoit and the Warriors/Baccanoids for the Festival of the Dead zone.
  15. I am now leaning toward the answer being in front of us all along. Soneone asked who the reaper-like character was on the Twitter account. I replied it was the Iniquitus from 2012. They would make sense. Far too much sense. And it could explain the Bigfoot stilts. They are sturdier stilts, correct? Would it be harder to pull a person down in them?
  16. Backside of a house in a soundstage. Guessing from the taller area which resembles rigging, it's the backside of Gothicombs. Take this as you will.
  17. Was I one of the few to get the Victim in front of me in the Saw house? It's an interesting little add to the immersion factor. Immediately knew the person was the Victim, but it added to the distracts. I was watching and waiting for her to be grabbed and attacked instead of truly paying attention to the house. Got a few good scares out of it. They may try it again for this new house since Purge had a Victim, too.
  18. It's hard to determine the actual location of this prop. The tents have several entrances/exits. Example: the facade for Poe was in a different location than the facade for Halloween. The tent areas have traditionally be used for prop/scenic staging areas for all three locations (Sprung 1, Sprung 2, and Parade). If memory serves, the tobacco leaves for Roanoke were initially spotted near Tent 1. Judging by by the distance from the entrance seen and the proximity to the fence, this may simply be a prop that is staged for insertion into another maze. There doesn't appear to be enough room between the fence and the traditional queue area for express. My best guess for the actual placement of the prop is near the entrance used for Poe and not for Halloween.
  19. Why, Doc? Why?!!! Lol. That cements it. This whole marketing theme/scheme was designed to purposefully mess with my brain!!
  20. If they retcon Mary, I'd rather her be removed from her mirror. There was great potential in Dr. Agana. What I'd like to see what I've always suggested. Mary Resurrected. A play on Resurrection Mary as well as Mary not being stuck in her Mary world anymore.
  21. Marketing is either more inept or more clever than I thought. They are obviously using a play on (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Inept: Icon is a reaperesque character. You shouldn't tell people not to fear the icon of a horror event. Clever: Remember I mentioned the roses linking to Mary. She also wanted people not to fear. Maybe they are retconning her into a Lady Death character.
  22. Two ifs first: If the Conjuring was indeed coming. If the Conjuring was meant go in Tent 2. Deals with IP holders, such as The Conjuring, would most likely have started prior to the lawsuit. March 31st is when the lawsuit was first reported by the media. Most saw Brittle's case as frivolous at first. A money grab. I can easily see WB dismissing or downplaying any concerns Uni may have addressed. The tents are traditionally built first. Reason? It's Florida and summer is sweltering. Starting the outdoor facilities that have less reliable AC just makes sense. It would, also, be cheaper since you don't have to fight the furnace outside with the AC inside. Construction began in April(?). The permit dates aren't reliable to determine when construction actually began. I've found it takes time for them to be placed on to the site and they're dated by when they were entered. May rolls around. Construction is well underway. Suddenly, that pesky frivolous lawsuit is gaining steam and isn't going away. Maybe a cease and desist is ordered? Maybe WB backs out due to the suit? Maybe Universal decided to cut and run before either of those things happened? But...now they have an either partially built house and facade or a completely (maybe with, maybe without scenic) built house and facade. Do they tear it down and start from scratch? Business wise, you don't. You revamp it. (Pun so intended). Otherwise, you will have spent money on labor and material just to tear down that product. Then you spend money to actually tear it down. Now you have to spend money and time creating a whole new set of plans and blueprints before you can even start building. Then you'd have to spend money on building the new house.
  23. Are hybrid stilts the bendy ones? Werewolf stilts is what I'm thinking of. My daughter may be taking circus arts, but she focused on aerial dance so I don't know the name of stilts (yet). Sci-Fi zone could use the bendy stilts. Gothic had a gargoyle on stilts, so it could be for that as well. Bigfoot stilts could work for an icon, if a reaper is used. On on a side note, I can see how each rumored zone can be placed into a Legion of Horror. While stifled by corporate and marketing demands, A&D is still trying to touch on lore. I have to applaud them.
  24. When the first rumors that Conjuring was lost hit, Dead End was my first thought. I think we will have to wait and see what kind of vampire is used to determine how it fits.
