Just a FYI..... If you have to use 2 cards (credit or debit) to buy your tickets you can not use them together but what I found out is that if you use one card to buy a gift card then they can use the gift card and credit or debit card together. Had a hard time spending $850.

Thanks for that tip! I actually came here just to ask about that

  2. Oh wow, these roaming hordes seem so cool this year! I love how they are way more creative than just "guys girls and clowns holding chainsaws" (which, don't get me wrong, was still nice to have in the park as an extra way to liven up the dead zones). I'm especially looking forward to the geisha and cheerleaders, even if we might be getting more cheerleaders in vamp '55.

  3. Vamp 1955 sounds like it could be good, and just so long as Dead Man's Wharf isn't a zombie SZ, that will be great. However, the others all feel like they will be pretty lackluster, ESPECIALLY the Banshees one. Maybe it's just because I already have a negative opinion on how they're handled, as I see them turning more and more into photo-ops and less about being scary zones for scaring scaredy-cats, but I just feel so underwhelmed by the SZs this year overall.

  4. I'm pretty sure we had a male and female chainsaw crew along with a clown crew... with chainsaws. I really enjoyed seeing them around the park however, as it made some areas that were essentially dead zones more lively, and I am excited to hear about their return. If there are any groups that don't have chainsaws this year then they could go in so many more places than just the streets, since the gas from the saws makes them dangerous to bring inside buildings.

  5. UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT

I actually somewhat enjoyed the roaming hordes of '22. I know they weren't as good as scarezones can be, but there were a few things that really made them for me. For one, I loved how the individual actors could go *anywhere* as long as they stayed in the general area of their horde. I had some really fun interactions with a few in places such as restaurants and near the restrooms. Along those lines, every single little nook and cranny could be used by the actors, and as a huge fan of Universal I was delighted to see where some of those people went to scare passerby. Ntm the scarezones since have felt lackluster overall to me, as lots of times they're used as photo-ops (and not just the zones designed to be photo-ops) and many have just been extremely underwhelming.

I probably enjoyed '23 the least, because while the houses were pretty overall good, none really stood out to me as fantastic as opposed to every other year. Also, I preferred the roaming hordes over having an all-TWD park, even if I thought the barn was pretty cool as a tiny little distraction. Objectively, however, '22 was probably the worst out of all the ones I went to content-wise. I thought the lines were handled horridly during '24 and had the worst time with lines that time, where 1 hour wait times were mismanaged to the point of being 3 hours long... DotD made up for that in spades to me, however :P

  6. The scarezones in the front of the park have tended to be pretty lame, so if it's good this year then it will be a huge surprise. I think the Krampus house has the most room to disappoint, because while I would love to see it blow everyone away, the creative team could make on hell of a dud. I agree with most people here and think that the TCM house could be the sleeper hit, that or the originals. I'm secretly hoping Tomb will be amazing since it's giving off some *slight* Gothic vibes to me, and the sets alone made that house one of the best.

  7. I'm actually pretty excited about this experience. Not because I actually will be going to do it, since if I buy anything on top of a ticket it will be food, but because that's another thing that will take people out of the lines of the houses, hopefully making more time to be able to do all of the regular houses!

  8. As much as I would love a dual-run house, and I think it would fit in great with Chance's theme, it couldn't work with how HHN is today. The lines tend to be very disorganized as-is, with the employees not always knowing how to work both the express line and the regular line to make it fair for both parties. If they had to also alternate between different areas to send people into, I don't think it would turn out well. Also, unless they used the same space that was used to make the two big houses the past couple of years, the house would feel too tiny on each run. Also, the big space is being used to make two houses already, so that's out of the question. A dual-run would have too many complications to make work

  9. I'm gonna be at the park Sunday. While I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt I'll see anything whatsoever, I'll try to catch a glimpse of any and all construction at the known locations that are under construction. Again, I doubt I'll see a single thing, but it's possible I will see people moving things in and out of the venues if I situate myself on some of the good lookout points.

Screw it, I've had fun with these in the past...

    House list.

    The announced

The announced: Second coming (Tent 2)
    The unannounced: The return (Parade)
    The unannounced: The expected
    The unannounced: The returning
    The unannounced: The requeling
The unannounced: Claustrophic jewel (Tent 1)
    The unknown
    Shall not be named

I think (and hope!!) the expected will be Krampus, as many here have expected that to come. The unknown is probably the literal one, becaue I feel like "Shall not be named" would be too obvious, as this is for fun. Also, I doubt J.K. Rowling would want a Harry Potter house. Plus hey, an original house titled "the unknown"? Sounds clichéd, but also like there could be a lot of promise there!

  11. I pledge to get another job so that I can at least afford an express pass, if not tickets and hotel rooms for an extended stay.

I also pledge to spread positivity about the whole event, which I feel like I haven't done well enough in the past. After all, what's the point in being super negative regarding one of our favorite annual events, if not our favorite?

Is it possible that we end up with 3 or less originals?

From the point of view of someone who has only been involved, albeit heavily involved, in this scene for a few years, I'd say it is very possible. Over the few years I have been, there has been a severe lack of originals in the park. I find it hard to believe that even half of the houses would be originals, as IPs are what brings in the crowds. So I believe that not only is it possible that we have 3 or less originals, but that it is highly probable.

  13. As someone who never has the money to get fast passes, this is probably going to be the house to skip this year due to lines being outrageously long. It will probably be just like FvJ was last year, which is a shame since I would really like to visit this house.

Side note; if there's to be a Krampus house this year it would make the disappointment over not going into this house almost disappear completely

  14.

Tough choice as I love both events.

I do have to ask a question, would you already be in Universal when the event begins or would you be waiting outside the gates?

Also, take into account that FFP do not have Saturday admission so even though a single night ticket is more expensive then, less APs will be in the park getting a jump start on the houses.

I would be waiting outside the gates, hopefully an hour before the event kicks off.

  15. Alright, I have a question. We don't have enough for those express passes, nor anything more, and would only be going for one day. At this point, would it probably be better to just hit HoS instead? As far as I know, that event doesn't have nearly as large of a crowd as HHN does, and the quality of the houses are going up drastically. And while we are all interested in many of the houses at HHN this year, it doesn't seem like we would be able to hit many... so would we be better off going to HOS instead?

  16. This is my first year at HHN.  We are going on Friday, September 25, which I understand is a busy, but not peak day.  We can't afford Express passes, and I would like to experience all of the houses, scarezones and shows.

Do you think the touring plan laid out here - http://blog.touringplans.com/2015/09/17/everything-need-know-halloween-horror-nights-25-part-2/ - makes sense?  We do have tickets for an afternoon Behind The Screams tour but I assume we will be outside when the park opens for HHN at rope drop.  We will stay as late as we can.

    Any help appreciated.

I might be a little late, but you definitely don't want to hit Insidious 3rd. Hit that first, or near closing. Following that guide, you would put that first, then everything else could follow.
