I haven't been to UO in a couple years up until I went to Citywalk for a movie and some drinks a couple weeks ago and holy shit it's like going through a TSA checkpoint. With security as tight as it is at Citywalk, will there be another chokepoint of metal detectors at the entrance to the park like I'm used to? Or will this relieve some of the pressure at the turnstiles to the event?

Last year they only used the metal detectors at the CityWalk gates. That made the entrance to HHN a lot easier, so i believe they will do it that way again this year

edit: crap this was already answered, the other messages didnt load for some reason

  2. I'm glad to see you were able to enjoy the event as much as you did! I'm even surprised you enjoyed Ash vs Evil Dead, since it seemed most people only liked it if they saw the show before going. I'm glad to see that so much of the event is all together despite everything!

  3. Im real sorry to see the guests pushing each other to get out of a couple mazes :( even if the smell was really that bad, getting pushed along was extremely rude. It seems theres some kinks to work out over in Hollywoo before the event starts, but luckily some of this seems to be a relatively easy fix. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  4. Good news regarding this house tho; many people claim that this one is the scariest house, so it seems the production hell it went through might not have killed it after all!

Saw it. I get why it turned out like that. Gonna give it some leeway.

Yeah, I get it too; if it was any other house it would be a real damn shame, but i still gotta sigh at this one

  6. I think the last 30 minutes alone have a lot of potential to be rooms. One thing I did really like about the movie was Wendy's descent into madness, and all the ghoulish imagery we got to see during that time.

Something to keep in mind regarding reviews this first week. Multiple rehearsal nights apparently were cancelled and thus some actors have apparently not even gotten half an hour to practice their role.

Keep an open mind, is all I'm saying.

When I look at week 1 reviews, I personally only look at what they say about the design of the houses themselves. To me that's what is always the most exciting about this first week, and you can also tell if the houses have potential for later when you read into this stuff from day 1

I've been following the corn grow since they planted it, so that's great to hear. I think it was a fantastic gesture by creative to put a literal organic idea into the creation of a maze and to imagine it getting destroyed made me somewhat sad. It's actually pretty disgusting how much I thought about the corn over the course of the hurricane; hoping it was ok.

Also, employee preview is still a go.

I was also worried about the corn, and i even tweeted at Mike to see if it's ok (no response). Also, im glad the EP is still a go! This means i can still go through the annual routine of stalking twitter on wednesday

This house looks amazing. I've always liked the idea of creepy living scarecrows, and this looks like it adds an interesting twist to it.
My only hope is that the lighting for it is at least decent.
    Explanation:
My girlfriend is planning to come with me to a night of HHN, and is excited about the description of this House.
Problem is, she has problems with night- blindness. Last year, one of the Houses we hit together was Tomb of the Ancients, and that House was so dark she could hardly see a thing.
So, I hope this House has at least okay lighting for her sake.

A tip always passed along this site is to wear sunglasses leading up to the house, then taking them off once you're inside so your eyes need less time to adjust. That or having her close her eyes and clinging to you (so she can still walk into the house) should help, if you haven't tried them already

  10. So, for me planning is key. I take this event pretty seriously, and always like to have in mind before I go what I want to do and what order I'd ideally do them in. Here's my gameplan for when I go on Saturday, September 22nd with an express pass and lovely gf in tow. Hopefully we can all share plans and help each other out in planning an awesome trip!

    • Arrive at the parking lot around 5:15 so we can be in line around 5:30
    • Die in the hot sun for an hour, sometimes less bc they let people in early lots of times
    • Dash over to Ash vs Evil Dead, not using express
    • That should let out near the entrance to Scarecrows, so we hit that next without express
    • That lets out near Hive so we hit that, hopefully without express
    • After that we go to Blumhouse bc its near, we will use express bc we only care to do it once anyways.
    • Enjoy the Invasion scarezone and hit the hhn store for the first visit, pick up anything that looks like it would sell out. I guess we would also be in the purge scarezone here too but we dont care much about that either
    • Go to Dead Waters or The Fallen, depends on which has a lower wait. Hopefully we can save express
    • Do whichever of the two houses we didn't just do, again hopefully without express
    • Use express for the shining
    • Use express for AHS if its needed, tho the middle of the night tends to be better for the first house than the beginning or end so we may be able to hold off on it
    • Go to Saw, probably using express
    • Enjoy the scarezones fully
    • Eat a donut
    • Suffer from the donut
    • Redo any houses that we want to do again, this time with express
    • 30 minutes before leaving, hit up the store again for whatever I didn't buy the first time.
    • Hit one more house then leave

Long time lurker here! Been lurking on this site for the past 3 years to find out the newest info on HHN! I travel from Portland Oregon every year since 2013 to go to HHN and I can't be more excited about the original house lineup this year. Just wanted to officially drop in and join the Horror night nightmares family!

Welcome friendo! I love your username; that's my favorite hhn joke lol
Glad to have another member of the community

Just be thankful you're not flying from the UK, we got our flight for £400 which isn't bad. But it's looking like a 2k trip each for me and my gf.

    F*cking worthy every penny though.

I probably wouldn't be saying that if I took anything critical analysis said seriously.

...i keep a pinch of salt next to me whenever I'm reading this forum just in case I come across his frustrated ramblings.

Holy heck, that is a lot of money :0 You guys going for multiple nights to make the most of it all?
