  1. They usually have two separate areas for stay and scream: 1. Let's you into Roanoke, Dollhouse, and Halloween early. 2. Let's you into some combination of SS houses. Because you won't know which houses are your favorites, I'd start in the area that goes to SS houses because they will fill up the fastest. And once I finish those I'd walk over to Roanoke and work my way counter clockwise through the park . The most important thing is to make sure that you DO NOT use your express passes for any lines shorter than 45 minutes unless you have been through that particular house once already that night. Also, once you've gone through all the houses once, you should take a break to grab something to eat and check out scare zones before you start round two on the houses using your express passes.
  2. Where in the world is the bus? I went recently and didn't even see it
  3. I'm gonna have to disagree a bit here Halloween: One of the best/biggest IP's hhn has ever had and the house in this spot usually gets really long lines and it'll only be worse with this big of a property. TWD: Third year so it'll go down some BUT it's hhn's biggest house ever and it's still a huge IP so it'll still get a huge crowd. Plus, it's right after FDTD, so once that line gets real long, people will pass that up and go to TWD instead because it appeals to them more. FDTD: Not something that too many people are really into, but a lot of people have at least head of it and a good amount of the 30+ crowd has seen the original film. AvP: Big/Good property, the only reason it isn't #2 is because FDTD is the first house people see (assuming they don't go through Hollywood.) Roanoke: Not an IP but it's the biggest original house and it's the first house you go to if you're going counter-clockwise. Dracula Untold: Unreleased IP and many people don't get what makes it "untold" so it's just another vampire to them. G&G: Short house, short line. May get kinda long in the middle of the night but that shouldn't last long. DotD: In a spot that often has low wait houses, doubt it will be an exception.

    Halloween

No, the way they're doing it is absolutely perfect. They're following the opening of the movie, you are Michael walking around his house on Halloween night as he goes to investigate what's going on with his sister and her boyfriend. It is the PERFECT way to open for multiple reasons. 1. It is one of the most important/recognizeable shots in horror history. 2. The shot sets up the psychological/sexual battle that is carried out through the duration of the movie. And it provides the setting for a flawless example of what a slasher film is truly about. If Mike and the rest of A&D wanted to, they could display this deeper meaning throughout the entire house (by what you saw and what the scares were) but I'm not sure that they'd want to take all that time for something that not many of the die hard hhn fans would even notice, even if it is a passion project. Mike made the entrance where it is because it IS his passion project and he understands the importance of that opening shot. Despite how cool it would be to walk through the front of the house, that isn't how it was in the movie and it simply would not have been half as good of a shot because you wouldn't get the ability to look into the house and see michael's sister and her boyfriend fooling around before they head upstairs. You have to walk in his footsteps, it's the only chance you'll get to do so, so you might as well copy his actions as closely as possible to make it as similar to the movie as possible. Somebody that doesn't appreciate the thought involved in every aspect of this house, doesn't deserve to go through it. Just pay attention as you go through, no matter how closely you look, you'll miss something special.
  5. Houses: Halloween - One of my top three horror films/franchises of all time. I don't know how many of you understand the power of this film from an analytical POV, but just the way the façade is set up proves that this is a passion project. (They're replicating the exact shot that the film opens with, setting aside the extremely difficult nature of the shot, the entire scene sets up and symbolizes the sexual and psychological struggle that is the fundamental basis for the entire film and all of the slasher films that were to follow.) Anyway, I can't explain how excited I am and I will write a love letter to the entire team if they can cleverly use the design of the house/rooms to continue to carry out the deeper battle that is going on within Michael. (If they don't do it, I'll be sad but still amazed by the house. FDTD - I grew up watching this movie and I recently watched the series on Netflix, started off slow but by the 4th or 5th episode, it picked up and got much better. So, despite not being based on the movie, this as close as I'll ever to come to living in my second favorite vampire film ever (Nosferatu is #1) and I'm ecstatic about it despite everyone else hating on it. AvP - As if xenomorphs alone wouldn't make me giddy, predators too!?! It's truly just a dream IP, with the promise of the puppet work from AWiL last year, this house is sure to be amazing. DotD - I'm not ESPECIALLY scared of dolls, but those tiny, inanimate people are really creepy. Interested to see how the people being turned into dolls turns out aesthetically. G&G - Not scared of clowns at all BUT my first hhn was 2000 (I was 6 and haven't missed a year since) so I love walking through clown houses. Plus it'll be neat to see them in a setting other than the typical circus or funhouse that everyone does. Roanoke - I do not know the ins and outs of the myth/tale(s) of the Wendigo so that is why this is so low but the description has me veryyyy interested and I am pumped to come face to face with the same beasts as the first colonists of America. TWD - Only gets the nudge over Dracula because of its extreme size, plus whisperings of multiple paths.... Whether or not I'm crazy about this house, I'll be going through multiple times to try to venture down all the paths and experience every scare. Praying that the trend of them improving the TWD house each year continues. Dracula - Unlike a lot of people, I'm actually convinced this house will be great and it'll end up being ranked around fourth on everyone's list of best houses (I'm just not as excited about it as others.) The setting is classic, the monster is classic, so I can't see how this house could turn out bad. Scare Zone: Bayou - With this "Mamba" guy trying to bring blood into the bayou with his (rumored to be) very gory ritual at the altar, this zone seems to exude the horror and gore that this year is so full of. Plus it's gonna be quite large (given it's location) and they're going to candles in the trees (like the lanterns) There is not a single bad thing about this scare zone. Purge - The movie lends itself perfectly to a scare zone, it's perfect to be in New York and it's HUGE and has loads of props (all the little stickers and signs on the cars and things about the purge and "NFF" really shows the attention to detail that makes hhn special.) Oh and I'm excited to see what the deal is with the auction thing they're going to do. Face/off - Really just can't wait to stare at the makeup in this zone, should be great to just stroll through and gawk at the scareactors. Maskerade - Looks like it'll be good, curious to see if/what they add to the zone to finish off the props and I wanna see the final effect of the chandelier overhead. Also, the potential for the costumes/makeup is really promising
  6. I heard a rumor that, in this scare zone, they will be testing out a potential icon for an upcoming year. That description of "Mamba" leads me to believe that he/she may be the potential icon I heard whisperings about. Also was told the activities on the altar will be quite graphic and gory, just another way Uni is making their return to gore this year and I'm loving it.

    Halloween

The facade was still up as of last Sunday, I saw it with my own two eyes...and my camera... Butttt, I can't figure out how to put the pic in the post. So if they aren't using Halloween, they are at least still using the same facade. I have some seen debate as to where you'll enter, I will add that it does appear you enter through the side of the house or just around the back. Btw, I've lurked hnn for years and I've been attending HHN since 2000. I was only six and since then, nothing has been able to replace the fear/love that I feel at horror nights. So I've been hooked for about as long as I can remember. I hope that I've provided some comfort to those worrying that we will lose Halloween. No need to fret, Michaell is coming.
