When I read this, what came to mind was some of the very cool houses and scarezones they have done in HHN Singapore, based on Asian folklore.

This site has great detail of every year as well as photos and video.

Although I've never been to any of them, HHN4 is the one I wish I could have attended.  What they did for an icon was so cool, complete with media gifts, and an incredible opening ceremony.

They have shied away from IP for the most part (but of course they did Stranger Things).

This place is on my bucket list, for sure.

They used Jack one year but otherwise use original icons, and they usually have website games like HHN Orlando used to.

Really, USS HHN is like the golden age of Orlando - no corporate synergy to dictate what you can and cannot do.

What I'm getting at is - there is a lot of untapped potential of ideas that have been successfully presented in Universal parks besides Orlando and Hollywood.

I would love to see the Puppet Master come to Orlando as an icon! They are so creative at HHN Singapore!

This doesn't seem credible to me AT ALL.  We had Evil Dead just a few years ago.  Why would we get that again?  The new Insidious movie doesn't come out until 2018, so is this actually happening?  The Shining?  For sure?  I won't believe it until it's officially announced. Conjuring has been speculated before... why do we think it would happen now?

I second that thought. But as for The Conjuring, this year may be the year we get it. Fingers crossed!

Don't even get me started on The Shining... WE ARE NEVER GETTING A KING IP!!!!!! lol I don't care who made it, if it's originally King's IP we're never going to see it at an event!  (surprised they didn't have IT on their list lol)

This is the video I was referring to and the only one I could find with good audio. I thought he says "buy you a mocking bird"... Ofcourse, this is if the tweet would be taken seriously as a clue...

He also used the phrase in the Icons SZ in 2015.

I am really kinda shocked that people didn't instantly think of The Caretaker. Also kinda surprised people had to go searching for him saying the "Hush little baby" line considering this line was repeated over and over again just 2 years ago at HHN 25 during the kill on his mini-stage. He says it at the 0:51 mark. If that twitter user is to be believed and is hinting at things to come, using that line is a dead give away.

^ Beat me to it lol

It's quite possible they might dedicate each of the next 3 years to each of the other 3 "main" icons to get them back in the spotlight before the big 30th anniversary where we might, hopefully, get another big stage show like HHN 16. I don't consider Storyteller a "main" Icon that could hold the spotlight for the year (especially with the merch) so I could see them putting Storyteller and Director in the same year.

Even if they don't go this route, I don't see them going without an Icon for a while. Marketing tried to do away with it, but it just doesn't work. You need that "thing" to tie everything together and also to drive merch sales. I know my first year didn't have an Icon and I hated all the merch because it was just so generic. With the Icon shirts, mugs, pins, cards, your unifying everything and making things unique that stick out.

If they did decide to join two icons together for an event it would be without a doubt, the Director & the Usher. Having the Director & the Storyteller together really doesn't make sense.

I have to ask, what makes you think so?

I did some research and stumbled upon an HHN Creative Team member's social media page and in their bio they had this quote:

"Bringing out the designs to scare you during HHN... then it hush hush dont say a word HHN27 killed the mocking bird."

Later I saw that someone asked this person if an icon was coming to the event. You would imagine the response would be "can't say", BUT this person said (and I quote), "We shall 'si' ;) "

That's my reasoning behind why I think we'll be seeing Mr. Albert Caine (weird how we have the same last name lol) at this year's event! :) I personally would love to see the Usher return (also weird that we share the same first name lol). Sadly my middle name isn't HHN related :( (Thomas).

Unless he actually did mean The Shinning, rather than the Shining.

As in The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror parody.

"No beer and no TV makes Homer something something"

    "Go crazy?"

    "Don't mind if I do!"

I will likely post an HHN 27 spec video in the near future.

Just watched both videos! Good stuff (as usual)!

Actually no, our version of the Exorcist is disappointing from what I've heard. More bad than good, and some of the pics I've seen don't look good

Oh man! I guess that's price you must pay for a movie that takes place in one room. I get creative liberty and what not, but there are some things you  should just leave alone, The Exorcist being one of them.

It should just stick to being a filler scene in a best of horror movie house like Silver Screams & All Night Die In

I watched their Knotts video from 2013 when they performed for their Halloween event. I have to say, I am impressed. They tried to make it a "freakshow" theme which kinda worked. It also wasn't all rap or techno. In fact, the last 8-9 minutes is all "toned down" music. It ends with an awesome "dance" from Bohemian Rhapsody which seems to be a staple for them that they perform in multiple different shows (even on Americas Got Talent). I am also impressed with the size of this group and I hope they all come to Orlando. Of course, my first thought is why are they spending so much money to bring this massive dance crew down to Orlando and house them for nearly 2 months? Would have been so much cheaper to do a Chance show with locals.

Still, after watching multiple performances, I feel like this crew can give us a show loosely tied into an overarching story that is not 100% rap/techo dance music. Ideally it will be 50's music to fit into the Vamp '55  scarezone.  I just don't understand why they don't use the T2-3D theater to house a show like this. Hollywood pulled it off just fine when they put on Rocky Horror in their old T2 theater. Would be able to put on one heck of a show with all the special effects and screens that theater offers. Plus, they could use the aisles to not be stuck on the stage the whole show.

This is their Knotts video (ignore the annoying "intro"):

I think the only reason T2 is not being used for the show is because TWD rumor may be true & they want to keep it open for guests before the close it for good.

I know there's another forum for merchandise, but I'm just gonna post it here too.

Here's some of this year's merchandise for HHN 26. This was found off of Universal Orlando's website under merchandise. These are obviously not all the merch, and the rest won't be revealed till we're closer to the event.

    https://www.universalorlando.com/Merchandise/ProductList.aspx?q=Halloween+horror+nights

LIT! Absolutely lit! I'm going to have to make some purchases here soon!

I think for a facade on the outside the tents are still a given, especially Texas Chansaw. Tomb could go either way. I don't know if Chance will have enough space for an indoor facade. Krampus will probably be right in side of the building. Ghost Town and Exorcist will be inside. AHS will hopefully have 3 facades, the murder house, the freak show entrance, and something from Hotel(haven't seen it yet) And I don't care either way about TWD does.

AHS WILL be getting a facade for the entrance of each section.

    Why?

    1) Failed website

    2) Failed social media presence in my opinion

    3) Lack of a notable media event in advance

    4) Awful billboard

    5) Generic commercials

    6) No exterior park decorations

    7) Exterior of the parade building is embarrassingly bad

    8) Re-use of TWD again

    9) Chance as a b-level icon shoe in that's not used well

    10) Bringing in an external group for a show

    11) Arguably the most incoherent theme I've ever seen

    12) Gimmicky upcharge

    13) added thanks to ThNdIzNiR - ridiculous price increases

And I'm not wrong on any of these. Will the event be enjoyable? Sure. Did they drop the ball again, yes.

    I'm gonna have to agree...

    • They could have really knocked this theme out of the park BIG TIME but its waaaay too IP driven & have once again pushed a really good icon off to the side.
    • The SZs are not the best (especially Acid Assault 2)
    • The commercial... (Leather Face though... what even?!)
    • And once again pushing TWD (this better be its last year)
    • The website... they could have done so much with the theater theme...

Sure hope they make up for it with a kick butt event. It makes me really mad that marketing is ruining HHN. A&D has made such a great legacy of the event and ever since 2012 when marketing charged through the doors, it's just gone down hill.

Coming from a marketing student, bad move. Just stick to promoting the event, not making the event.

On the bright side, glad that AHS is finally here!
