  1. Only if they can find the actors..

I'm going to put on my best old lady attempts at auditions next week.

I wasn't a HUGE fan of Anarchy, I definitely liked the first one more (the purgers not the family *bleh! Kill them all*) but I'm excited to see the small changes in the SZ this year.

  2. Per USHAuditions on twitter, you can only audition once, not sure if that applies for POOL but I asked on twitter as someone said during auditions that if you didn't recieve a yellow card you'd have more opportunities to audition, their twitter said no, it "wouldn't be fair to others auditioning for people who already auditioned, to audition again." Miscommunication between departments maybe?

  3. It's a rumor that has been spread around the TMs who work at Universal for awhile now. Is it true? Well I guess... since one monster creation from HHN has made it into the normal HoH. Last I heard is that once that Hotel plops up where Fung Lums was, HoH and Globe Theater are going. So I don't see Universal investing into an attraction on borrowed time.

Honestly, if HoH goes, I'll be pretty ticked. It's cheesy as hell on off season from HHN but I love walking through there as universal created the horror genre and as a horror fan and makeup artist it always gives me a little oomph of inspiration and butterflies when I see all the props in the que line.

I'm so tired of TWD. I stopped watching the show after season two due to it straying off the path of the comics and got too Lucy-goosey for me personally. But, god no, PLEASE retire TWD after this season. If if returns next season, I'm definitely calling BS on the "we never do a maze more than three times" line Murdy has thrown out (TCM, Friday the 13th, etc)

  4. It's definitely got potential to be a fun maze, personally it appeals to me more than AWiL or AVP. I haven't watched the show yet but once it hits Netflix I'll give it a go - from the looks of the photos, there's some pretty sweet costuming and makeup. I'm a fan of the original but as this sounds like it's geared towards the TV series, we'll see what happens and how it plays out.

  5. Speaking of slaughterworld, I miss that show. So much cheese, but so fun.

I've settled with the fact that there don't be any B&T this year, maybe universal is going to let it lay low for a bit, like chuckys insult emporium and bring it back once people have forgotten about the mishap. 2012 set the B&T bar incredibly high and I think last year just tried too hard to meet that bar.

  6. Why are you so bent on the Conjuring not happening? I think Zero spelled it out the last couple of pages that its more than likely. Of all of the paranormal properties to work with, Conjuring is the only candidate. Paranormal Activity has very little to work with. Zero already went in depth about the other reasons.

I may be one of the few people out there that absolutely hates the PA franchise and always have. The first film put me to sleep and luckily I didn't pay to see it or I would have been really peeved. The Conjuring definitely has more creep factor and fun than PA but regardless if that IS the maze or not, if it does turn out to be PA I'll definitely avoid that maze and feel severely ripped off. It's just ... not scary. The Conjuring may not be "scary" to some but the backing and fan base behind it is incredible. Yes PA had good reviews and following as well but like I said, in my opinion it's just cheese on top of cheese plus it's a very POV/camera shaking film, how would that translate to a maze and allow guests to "feel" it? Like discussed somewhere else on this topic, HHN is basically conga lines through the mazes by the second hour of the maze being open, making the scares hard, resetting, etc. A lot of consideration needs to go into it. Just my opinion.

I also just watched it and while I never could picture it as a maze, I really did love the change from strictly clowns at main entrance to the purge SZ last year, was really hoping we'd see that again this year.

  7. For HHN, they don't care. At all. They made that clear when I auditioned last year (And I joined late, during the pool auditions).

    For regular Universal, however... Lol.

Yeah, I'm screwed out of universal, Disney and knotts on off season due to body art and previous crazy hair colors. Eh, at least halloween time it's not a bad thing. And most/if not all of my tattoos are horror related. Still will probably show up in longsleeves/cover things up.

  8. I have seen many people with large, visible tattoo's and piercings being cast for HHN. However, it might help to "hide" as much as possible so that they can decide what to do with you from what they see.

I'm going to cross my fingers that it's not 100+ temps like it has been, otherwise wearing longsleeves and pants is kind of going to suck. BUT, I'm going regardless and it's a small sacrifice for a great month of fun and scaring!

  9. Yeah I know they're various different properties, I just don't feel the Awe! from previous years. But you know, I have to go into the event excited as is and with an open mind because in the end I know HHN won't let me down.

My thoughts exactly! I just don't feel that pull to WANT to go with that line up. I love those films/franchises but as a maze? It just doesn't seem appealing. I'm also looking at it from a makeup artist and scareactor POV, and the "types" of scares, costuming, makeup etc, and as a scareactor I'm not sure if I could have my full heart and soul into something I personally don't find scary/exciting. But, opinions are opinions, no matter what, there's still SZ and so many options left to uncover. Let whatever be, be.

  10. My guess would be some type of Jack the Ripper Scarezone for Baker Street. Not too sure what they would do for the Lower Lot since it's usually Stilt Walkers down there.

I guess the biggest questions are will the Purge be headlining in New York Street again and will there be another Scarezone on the Backlot?

I really would love to see The Purge headline again, it was such a nice change from clowns, and I know it was received really well by fans/event goers.

  11. Traditions I'm guessing I shining toward The Purge. Btw does anyone hope that they put chainsaws back in the lower lot. Silent Hill wasn't so great, and scarecrowz was terrible

As someone who is a huge fan of chainsaws in general and also someone who's attempting to wield a chainsaw at this years event, YES, chainsaws in the lower lot please! It's way too quiet without them and honestly, the last two years I just go down there, hit the mazes and go right back upstairs, it always seems dead down there without them.

  12. Different venue you're talking about. Friday the 13th and The Thing were in the Wild West stage completely covering them from the rest of the park. Of course that location is now Universal Plaza. Parisian Courtyard is right in between Café and Mel's.

Whoops, sorry. Was turned around a bit. Regardless, design team has got chops, if The Conjuring is gonna happen, they'll make if work wherever it may be.

My fault. Let's not lose our heads over anything. So besides TWD and mask-a-raid does anyone have any SZ speculation?
  13. Not going to lie the Perron Farmhouse would look out of place next to the Art Deco styles of Palace Theater Cafè and Mel's Diner...

So did Camp Crystal Lake and The Thing, but somehow, it worked, it may take more umph from the set decorators and design team but it IS possible.

Murdy has debunked the Exorcist year after year due to not getting the rights, unless he pulled some serious serious strings I doubt we'll see it, ever :( but I'm still sticking with The Conjuring, I'm sure they could figure out a way to blend the facade in with the rest of the square.

On another note, is there any speculation as to what SZ we'll see this year besides Mask-a-Raid? And most likely TWD SZ again (I'm assuming).

  14. Me to. I'm not going to lie, I have awesome legs and they would be missing out if they didn't put me in bloody white tights.

Haha I may not have bangin' legs to rock bloody white tights, but as a female, I've got some assets that would look wonderful in a bloody tight bodice.

  15. I'm still pulling for a TrT maze, given one of Murdys recent tweets:

@HorrorNights: Working on Scareactor design for the scare zones. A lot of the scarezones this year are inspired by MYTHS & TRADITIONS (vague cryptic hint)

I'm pulling, I'm pulling with all my heart for it this year! Sure I could deal if they waited for the sequel next year but fans have pulled for this maze for a while and there's no telling what the sequel will look like and if it'll be as wonderfully done as the first one.

  16. I for one love B&T! It was always my go-to at the end of my HHN visit right before chainsaw Chaseout. Sure, it was campy and lame some years worse than others but pulling it completely is really going to put a thorn in guests shoes when the wait times end up being longer for mazes and the overall experience goes down in "fun quality", while I hope it's still going to make a surprise comeback, I've grasped the concept of a no-go on if this year.

I do agree that DM will do nothing for HHN, the year the Simpsons ride/area of the park opened did nothing for the crowds (I remember vividly walking through and people were just standing around like cattle waiting to go through the chutes to get down the starway go the lower lot. I'm thinking after this year, the higher ups may realize how important having a show is to helping with crowd control (and it also allows for a bit of a breather, some laughs, no jump scares, etc etc) for guests who want to wind down between mazes, start the event or end it with something fun.
